Oh. Well, then, he must be trustworthy, eh? See here for a more realistic view. From Reuters, with thanks to JJP Mackie:
GAZA (Reuters) - Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has fired three of his top security chiefs after militants punctured a ceasefire he had agreed with Israel by bombarding Jewish settlements in Gaza with mortars. After the attacks, Israel had put off security coordination talks scheduled as a follow-up to Tuesday's groundbreaking meeting in Egypt with Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon.
But an Israeli official said on Thursday troops would not retaliate after some 50 mortar bombs and rockets hit settlements in Gaza.
There were no casualties in the attacks by militants who have refused to participate in Abbas's ceasefire gesture, and plans for him to reconvene with Sharon next week at the Israeli leader's desert ranch remained in place.

Could someone here please tell me how ignorant is ignorant, these people's dont even like each other, they would stab you in the back to promote their agenga or to make a buck.
Nice recovery on Abba's end though once he's fired his entire staff he could start over with hiring the first ones fired again since they will have been forgiven by that mythological notion of mohumad and all will be good. Of course he cant rehire the ones that IDF will come across as they will be dead.
It is even more glaringly obvious that Hamas does not want a peace process between Israel and those who hate them. It is also obvious that Abbas isn't trustworthy, either.
The legacy of hate lives on after arafat's death. When will the world learn that the palestinians aren't worthy of the air that they breathe? When will the world learn that these people simply do not deserve statehood?
My thoughts on Abbas: I wouldn't pee on him if he were on fire.
Thoughts on Hamas: Same as the above. I hope that Israel kills their latest thug leader.
It also sickens me beyond belief that Nihad Awad of CAIR publicly speaks and tells us that he is in support of the Hamas movement, yet CAIR continues to survive in America.
chuck asks how ignorant is ignorant?
ignorant= lacking knowledge
Notice that the attacks are lately centered on Gaza? What area has Israel declared they will be leaving? Gaza. Yeah, they just want their land back and peace. (sarcasm off)
". . .militants punctured a ceasefire. . ."
They did, and they will keep on doing so until the last of them is dead or in jail.
Every group among us, be it a garden club, professional association, a religion, or a gang, has a specific goal. The goal is not only the tie that binds, it is the reason for the group's existence, and lends purpose to the very lives of the group's members.
Terror groups such as Hamas, Hesbollah, etc. have as their group to intimidate through terror. This is what they do; it is their identity, their very reason for living. Without planning and carrying out acts of terrorism, they would have no reason to exist, to go on living.
Purpose is what produces the energy most people require to continue living. The average retirees from the military, for example, dies within five years of retirement. He has identified himself as a member of the military, and when he is cut off from his raison d'etre at retirement, he has problems thinking of a reason to go on living.
Many other people suffer unhappiness when a goal is achieved. For example, authors who complete books, especially if it is long and involved, often feel a "letdown," and don't feel good again until the next book is underway. The work and tension leading up to acceptance into college, to the Triple Crown, or the World Series, or the Superbowl have the same effect--and win or lose, once the goal is achieved, there must be another to replace it in order to make life worth living.
The terrorist movement has a very long-term goal: The conversion of the entire population of the earth to Islam. So long as the goal is not achieved, or until the terrorists themselves no longer exist, terrorism will not stop. Since they cannot succeed in converting the entire population, and since Islam will continue to breed more terrorists from among the ranks of their children, it will continue to exist.
The only possible successful strategy is to show the young that there is a different, more appealing, more productive purpose for their existence than running around killing people, including themselves.
To paraphrase an old Clinton presidential campaign bumper sticker, "It's education, stupid!"
Education can slowly eat away at the edges of the goals held by terrorists; if Muslim parents who would prefer to live in a productive world could be shown that at one time Islam had a major sect with a very different world view (which there was), and that that sect was every bit as faithful to Allah as the sect that eventually won the war of ideas through many of the same strategies and tactics we see today (which is was), then perhaps there could be an end to terrorism.
Hey, it would be worth a try!
