ATM card used after Copt was found slain

Evidence of a robbery, despite the spin in this story, does not at all mean that there was no religious motive. DeFazio himself, you'll notice, acknowledges that. This should be obvious to everyone in light of the recent revelation that the Saudi government’s Ministry of Islamic Affairs has distributed a tract in American mosques stipulating in regard to a Muslim sexual offender that "it would be lawful for Muslims to spill his blood and to take his money." This would also apply to non-Muslims who committed another capital offense: proselytizing among Muslims.

Meanwhile, there are numerous questions in this case that remain unanswered. I hope more details will be revealed soon, or that I myself will be in a position to reveal them.

From The Newark Star-Ledger, with thanks to Miira, who also comments: "Those accounts should have been frozen within hours of the first claim the police had of robbery as a motive! And why aren't the banks providing the ATM surveillance photos to America's Most Wanted, as well as to other media outlets, to help law enforcement and concerned citizens identify the criminals? Something stinks to the high heaven on this!"

Indeed it does.

For nearly a week after he, his wife and two daughters were killed in their Jersey City home last month, someone withdrew "thousands" of dollars from Hossam Armanious' bank account using his ATM card and secret password, Hudson County Prosecutor Edward DeFazio said yesterday.

The ATM card was used on "a number of different occasions" at banks in the Heights section of Jersey City, where the family lived, and in Midtown Manhattan, DeFazio said. The withdrawals continued for several days after news of the slayings was broadcast and splashed across front pages throughout the region, he said.

The ATM withdrawals further corroborate the likelihood of robbery as the motive in a crime many in Jersey City's tight-knit Egyptian Coptic community believe may have been religiously motivated. The Armaniouses were devout Coptic Christians.

"When we take this, in conjunction with the fact that no money whatsoever was found in the home, it's corroborative of the robbery, greed motive," DeFazio said. "We're still not discounting other aspects, but it is corroborative."...

"Thousands" of dollars were withdrawn from his account, though DeFazio would not disclose the exact total, the number of transactions, nor the banks involved. He also would not comment on whether investigators believe the person using the card was the same person, or people, who killed the family.

The last withdrawal was made "a shade less than a week" after the killings took place, he said.

Many ATMs are equipped with video cameras, but DeFazio declined to say whether investigators had obtained photos or video of the person, or people, who used Armanious' card....

At a press conference in Washington, D.C., two weeks ago, relatives of the victims said they are convinced robbery was not the motive because the family's modest means would make them unlikely targets.

Church leaders and others in the Coptic community have speculated about a religious motive, saying they believe Armanious was targeted by Muslim extremists for criticizing Islam in Internet chat rooms.

"We have not been able to corroborate this Internet ... speculation," DeFazio said. "So I'm not going to say for sure that that is not involved, but I am going to say that we haven't been able to corroborate it and we have corroborated this monetary motive."

Asked specifically about possible religious motive, DeFazio said, "It could still be. It could be a hybrid."

1 Pillage and plunder usually go hand in hand with murder. It takes a lot of spoils and booty to finance a worldwide jihad.

2 It could be a smokescreen, "Look - the Police think our motive might be robbery, somebody steal something quick to convince them". Although there must have been premeditation to have stolen the card.

Children died in this massacre, is that not enough to generate some outrage?

OH I see, somone used their cash card. Thats obviously the reason for slitting the throat of a young girl and 3 of her family members.

Im not one for consipracy theories, but sounds to me this has been deliberatley down played (I wont go so far as to say covered up, yet!) but I reckon orders to police and intelligence services has been told to keep down possiblity of any civil unrest. Or they are just incredibly dhimmi by nature.

$1,000's in atm withdrawl...last time I went to the ATM I could only withdraw $500 in any 24 hour period....I'm seeing a lot of smoke

Meanwhile, there are numerous questions in this case that remain unanswered. I hope more details will be revealed soon, or that I myself will be in a position to reveal them.

I hope you are a cog in the wheels of justice on this as well.

freestar- We could definitely use the term "travesty of justice" in this case,to think that any investigator would not immediatley contact bank officials or credit card companies unless they did not find robbery as the motive.

And with all due respect to the Armonious families friends, relatives and supporters I have to wonder how a moderate family would have thousands and thousands of dollars in an account accesible with a money card.

If I were from Jersey I dont think I would be feeling very secure at this moment.

Keep it hot Spencer

The only possibility that the Jersey City police seem comfortable with is that the motive was robbery. Here are some other possible explanations for the use of the ATM card:

During the period just after the murder, someone in possession of the ATM card, who may or may not have been the killer, uses that card for about a week. The explanation may include one or more of the following:

1) to make it appear that robbery was the motive by having someone withdraw money for a week after the crime

2) to acquire money needed quickly to buy a plane ticket abroad and then leaves the ATM card behind with an accomplice to withdraw more money which can then be wired abroad to the person leaving

3) the killer had already left the country, but the ATM card (with the password having been extracted from the Armanious father in the house that night -- perhaps he giving it in the hopes that the invaders would leave in exchange for the credit card and the password). The withdrawal by an accomplice or accomplices (who might even "rent-a-withdrawer" at each different ATM used -- some person who would be given the card, and told that in exchange for using the card, that person (whose picture would be taken by the ATM camera at each stop) would be given money. In this way the police might be thrown off the scent, and the real motive, one other than pecuniary -- would remain obscured to the police and the public, but of course not to the killers nor to Copts who would be terrified into silence, and not only in Jersey City.

1 or 2 or 3 separately, or 1 and 2 together --should be considered.

Heck,
Why not profit a bit after doing Allah's(swat) good work?

The Jersey City police and Hudson County prosecutor's office have demonstrated enough incompetence as to demand a federal level inquiry on the grounds of a hate crime and federal wire fraud-looting of the Armanious checking accounts.
I find it incredulous, but indicative of sloppy police investigative work and the incompetence of Mr. De Fazio's office endeavoring to keep the lid on sectarian "warfare" between the beleagured Christian Coptc community and the jihadi Islamists at the Al Tawheed Mosque in Jersey City ad their ummar buddies over in Passaic at The Islamic Center.

This is becoming common all over the country. Police solve most crimes these days because someone will turn the perpetrator in for money. It seems good policework is a thing of the past.

There's only one reason I can think of that they are not releasing the ATM photos.
The person in the photos must be an Arab.
If it was a white guy or black guy in the photos then the police would probably release the photos. Not only to help identify the suspect but to end suspicions of a religeous motive.

JLP

It sounds like the Newark Star-Ledger reporter gratefully took a D.A. press release and dutifully reported the ATM angle, to make nice with the D.A.'s office and to move the story along more in the "it was a robbery" direction. It would be very interesting to know if at least the family members were shown tapes of the ATM transactions. Perhaps they could identify the subject in the tape as someone who worked with their brother/sister or someone they had seen before at the Armonious home. John Walsh was on "Larry King" several nights ago. He put out the story about the Armonious family. He seems very determined to see the case solved. In his own son's brutal murder, I believe that Mr. Walsh's small son was beheaded by the monster who killed him. I think that the fact that the Armonious children were so brutally murdered might have given Mr. Walsh an especially strong interest in the murders in Jersey City.

There is No way muslims work at the police dept.
there Is No way a police person could have committed this crime.
There is No way a Coptic would give up his pin under threat of death .
There is nothing about stealing or booty or how much goes to allah in the Quran

Well you could withdraw $1,000, half before midnight and half after. (I saw that ol' trick on a Crime Watch program).

Though it is beggar's belief that the accounts were not tracked (or frozen) from the day of the slayings.

Reeks of incompetence on the services that are supposed to protect the New Jersey citizens.

CGW:
Thank you for your courteous and calm response. You are right: I do suffer from a nasty temper (mostly born from a lifelong frustration of watching "the golden and the goodly house where things go wrong for ever" working itself into a plenitude of suicidal self-indulgence and calling it rights).

However, my fundamental objections to Cubed's scheme remain. It is something that I know something about, and I regard it as so simplified a treatment of the issues as to be falsified. Hicks took the idea of the fundamental wrongness of Plato's mystical view of the City-State from Popper, but coarsened it almost beyond belief. Popper never criticizes Plato once without paying just and chivalrous tribute to his genius; Hicks treats him as a mere public danger. And the construction of two mutually exclusive lines of succession from Plato and, of all people, Aristotle, is fantastically off the point. When Christian philosophy arose, Aristotle was in almost complete eclypse, and none of the Fathers - certainly including the greatest, Irenaeus and Augustine - can be shown to have been seriously affected by him.

Christian philosophy rose again in the West in the eleventh century, after five centuries of silence (except for the strange, stunning episode of Scotus Eriugena - more actually a Platonist than any sort of Christian), because the long struggle for the survival of the Christian West had been, roughly speaking, won, and the times were ripe for more philosophical activities than just the copying out of old manuscripts. The first giant of the renewed tradition of philosophical investigation, Anselm, can only by a great stretch of the meaning of words be called a Platonist; in fact - like that other primeval and founding giant, Irenaeus - his position rose entirely from peculiar Christian issues, and in so far as he used the tools of pagan philosophers, it was on problems that none of them would so much as have conceived of.

This is a fundamental fact: that the main history of Western philosophy from its resurection in the eleventh century was the struggle for and against the Christian religion (and specifically its Catholic form). For centuries, the universities were Church institutions, and college teachers had major or minor orders. The first genuine revolt against Christianity came with the famous rediscovery of Aristotle in the 1200s, translated from Arabic into Latin after the kings of Castile and Aragon had captured central Spain and seized many well-appointed Muslim libraries. (The first Western translation of the Koran was made at the same time and in the same circumstances.) Soon the learned of the West understood that there were better, more original texts available in the Byzantine Empire, which had, conveniently, also been just conquered (the Fourth Crusade). Let us be clear about one thing: the famous flourishing of Aristotelian and other studies at this time may indeed have owed a lot to the discovery of Muslim codes, but owed most to the fact that the West was by now more than ready to absorb all sorts of intellectual novelties. By the time Aristotle was rediscovered, Anselm was already a long-ago classic, and Abelard and Bernard of Clairvaux were fighting memorable intellectual battles across the European intellectual body.

Even so, as Chesterton rightly says, the basic point of the supposedly Aristotelian philosophy of Aquinas is entirely Christian; it is something that arises from the very thought and mind of the Catholic faith, and that simply grows large enough to be able to absorb (most of) Aristotle's large and varied achievement. Thomas may have welcomed Aristotle's learning into Christian libraries, but he fought unyeldingly those who would use the tools of Scholasticism against the basics of Christian realism.

From Thomas to this day, the history of Western philosophy may be in my view be characterized as the constant search of a place to stand on outside the Christian tradition, the confrontation of that position with the Christian tradition, and its rejection or acceptance. In the thirteenth century they discovered Aristotle. In the fifteenth they rediscovered Plato - the famous episode of the Renaissance Platonists. In the seventeenth we had the new philosophy of Descartes. In the nineteenth there was an incredibly disturbed landscape, alarums and excursions, Kant trying to outdo Descartes, Hegel claiming that he had answered Kant (when he had only violated one of the most basic principles of logic, the principle of non-contradiction), Marx claiming to have brought Hegel from heaven to Earth, while Schopenhauer and Kierkegaard, one a Pagan, the other a Christian, both screamed out that Hegel was a fraud... The central tradition remains Christian. There is no other. Even its enemies, such as Nietzsche, were unable to position themselves except in relation to it. And the very insistence on grounding everything on Greek philosophy, while better than the various faddish neo-modernisms, is only the latest episode in the long history of trying to find a place to stand outside the central tradition.

This is a miserably abbreviated view of what I think of Western philosophical history. And I hope it has given you an idea why I find Cubed's views simply wrong-headed. I certainly would never ban either Plato or Aristotle: Plato was the wet-nurse from whose milk the early Christian philosophical tradition grew strong, and Aristotle had the same role later, when it was reborn. And at any rate they quite simply are great writers and worth reading and knowing about. Greatness is never wasted. Personally, I would not even ban someone so extreme as Susan Sontag; sure, she has written a lot of filth - but have a look at her opening essay for the Verushka album of photographs, and you will find something so stimulating that only the flattest, most unpoetical personality could possibly fail to soar in its wings. Greatness is never wasted. If anyone were to ask me why I would oppose the Islamization of Europe or of any part of the world whatsoever - I would probably play a few Irish songs; show some great paintings; some comics by Charles M.Schulz, Jack Kirby, or Harold Foster; everything in the world which is bright and lovely, which would be flattened out by Islamization. And by the same token, I will always insist on paying even this particular devil its due. If anything done well (architecture, calligraphy, etc.) is done by Muslims, should it not be encouraged?

From my experience with Banks the Account holder can alter the restrictions for business reasons or personal budgeting requirements.
There are standard limits on withdrawls for new accounts and for insurance purposes, one of my credit cards has a $500 limit for E-purchases so if ID gets stolen the most they can get is that amount and if they go over it triggers the retailor to phone in for a approval # and ID check. Another card with a very high limit had a restriction put on it that any demands on it for over $500 will default to a ID check by phone and the code-word that is from a question I filled out that only I would know,or the adress postal code and workplace information.

There could have been the appearance of a robbery to get the PIN code while they were tied up and promised to be released after one of them
confirmed the card worked, upon returning or a cellphone call to the killers they murdered them anyway. Remember,Muhammed fooled a town into believing they had a peace-pact but this was to buy time so Muhammed could plan the slaughter
of the villagers when they were un-armed.

I'm tired of the media being afraid of hurting the feelings of Muslim, murder is murder and there should be no special dispensation for Muslims to be immune from reports in the paper
that mention the word "Islam" or "Muslim".

Having lived in Jersey City for 3 years (1999-2002), I can honestly say that the JCPD are going to make this case worse, before they do anything worth acknowledging. This is one of those instances where the FBI should have been on it from the beginning. The JCPD is far from concerned with the well being of its local citizens, they're more concerned with cultivating their reputation. It's sad that they will probably blow this case.

I say the Jihadist murderers tortured them to give up the ATM passwords. Did not drain the accounts right away, only when they saw how stupid and in denial the police and prosecutors were in not seeing that Islamics were behind the four killings

Well, now we know one reason why they rifled the drawers of the Armanious home. Islamists always like profitable Jihad rather than just Jihad. Remember, too, that many businesses have internal and external video surveillance cameras showing the entrance and even the parking lot. Thus, even if the suspect was wearing a ski mask at the ATM, perhaps he was not wearing anything concealing in the parking lot.

The Qur'an specifically states to "enjoy the good things gotten in war."

Therefore the fact that the Armanious family may have been looted during their murder in no way undermines the other (probable)reality that their murder was a part of Islamic "holy war." The killers were merely obeying the Qur'an.

The murder of the Armanious family is evidence that Islam is conspiracy to commit murder and conspiracy to commit genocide.

How much MORE evidence does America need to have pile up on its territory before it actually acknowledges the actual nature of Islam as a militant killing machine and does something to protect its citizens from it?

Dear Paolo-

The only thing Muslims have ever actually done well is slaughter other human beings. Islam has succeeded in destroying entire civilizations across much of Asia and Africa as a result of the sheer volume of slaughter they have perpetrated.Hundreds of millions of human beings murdered without so much as a memorial. Quite a tribute to Islamic know-how, wouldn't you say?? But for me, I have NO intention of encouraging them to do any more killing. Oh, yes-- the Muslims did a splendid job of burning down the Library of Alexandria (the world might be advanced 1000 years ahead of its present state if someone had stopped the Muslims, do you wish to encourage the Muslims to do more of this sort of thing?).

Look at the Balmans today; that bloody mess is 800 years in the making. No one could have done it better, don't you think? Look at Greece of yesteryear. Look at the late-great Hindustan, or Roma, the homeland of the Gypsies, to cite but a few examples of Islam's 13 centuries-long 'Carnival of Carnage'. I can't agree with you, bub. Islam has to be stopped by whatever means necessary.

The ONLY thing we need encourage Muslims to do is LEAVE Islam (and the sooner they do it the better for all of us).

Our fellow readers and writers here are going to have a roundtable discussion Tuesday evening, 10:00 pm EST at:

http://fruitofislam.com/Kafir_Nation.

Please join us.

We hope by working behind the scenes at www.co-jet.org to make some concrete progress in this fight against Islam and Islamic jihad. If you have any suggestions you can join us daily at our blog, and we welcome all attendees at Kafir Nation. To join in you'll have to register. It's easy. It might also come to something good if you put something into it.

I'm thinking along the lines of joining the Copts if they continue to have vigils. So far nothing in the frozen North here in Canada but I haven't tried to organize that yet. It's something we could all do, and it would make a difference. We can take advantage of everything to make ourselves known and that the public can join us in this battle to end Islam and it's evil effects on perhaps as many as one billion people. Join us, see if you think you'd like to help.

Take a gander at the blatant double standard evident in police reaction to the Armanious case and now the U.S. District Judge Joan Humphrey Lefkow family murders.

Authorities haven't established any link between the Lefkow murders and jailed white supremacist Matthew Hale. But a quick Google search reveals information about Michael Lefkow posted on a Web site with Hale leanings.

Anti-Semitic Sites Carry Descriptions of Lefkow's Family

The FBI is immediately involved and the press is right on top of it. Go figure.

Chicago, IL Wednesday, March 02, 2005 - The Terrorist Supporters have responded to the alarming messages at AmericanJihad with the trite and hackneyed cries of "Racism" - since when are Muslims a 'race'? In an 'Editorial" in the Lakefront SRO Newsletter, a staff 'writer' has stated that when these matters were discussed, Racial slurs were exchanged (I assume this means calling the suspect, Brown a "Filthy Muslim Pig" and a serious situation developed in which "The Police was called" and goes on to urge that this nascent "Racism" be 'discussed' in order to avoid any additional problems. (and I assume to foster a greater awareness of the "Peaceful" Religion of "Islam")

What exactly are we supposed to Discuss about this "Peaceful" Religion?

* Wahhabi Muslim Head Chopping in Saudi Arabia?
* Sunni Islamic Throat Slashing in Iraq?
* Perhaps Sharia's stoning of women and execution of Children as well as rampant Drug Addiction and Prostitution in the Shi'ite "Islamic Republic" of Iran?
* The thousands of men who are forced to live with one hand, one arm, or one leg in Afghanistan, thanks to the demonic domination of the Deobandi "Taliban"?
* Sharia imposed gang rape in Pakistan?
* The pusillanimous coterie of HAMAS Homicide bombers in "Palestine"?
* Islamic-sanctioned slavery in Mauritania?
* Forced Marriages of 8 and 9 year old girls in Ethiopia?
* Maybe the Arab/Muslim sponsored GENOCIDE of 100,000 Black African Christians and animists in the Sudan?
* The Murder and near decapitation of Filmmaker Theo Van Gogh in Holland at the hands of a radical Islamist?
* The Kuwaiti man who has confessed to killing his 14-year-old daughter because he believed she was having sex and had to be 'punished' according to Islamic Law?
* The barbaric New Jersey murders of Egyptian Coptic Christian Hossam Armanious and his family that was ordered by the Muslim chat room PAYPAL?
* The niggardly Islamic charities and Islamic Doctors Associations who have been so shocking stingy and cruel when it came to helping the mostly MUSLIM victims of the January Tsunami in Indonesia?
* How about Chicago's very own Screwy Louie Farrakhan's "Nation of Islam" and that famous flying saucer trip he took in 1995?

If the defenders of Political Correctness and semantic prevarication would care to discuss any of these matters, they are always welcome at any of our AmericanJihad web sites. This is, after all, why these are Groups and Communities open to all - where are they and why do they remain so ominously silent?

The potential for cyber-terrorism and Terrorist support that is posed by the Radical ideologies of this individual (who professes that he is a Muslim and admits support of Islamic Terrorist groups) is very real and in close proximity to these systems and fragile individuals, all residents of Chicago must be made aware of these potential dangers.

All Americans and ALL USERS must now be made cognizant of THIS 'writer' who is using the alias of 'Eric Brown' and is proselytizing via hate-filled literature and rhetoric that is designed to incite violence in Chicago's Uptown Recovering Community which makes this a noxious and potentially explosive situation.

Perhaps Mr. "Brown" seemingly seditious and menacing activities are actually benign? Why don't you write him and ask at:

yuseficus@yahoo.com

Since a resident of Chicago's Uptown Hotel on Clark St near Wilson was arrested a bit over six months in a plot to purchase ammonium nitrate and bomb the US Federal Building in downtown Chicago, the presence of Dangerous radical and possible Terrorist supporters in our very midst cannot be ignored.

The callous murder of the mother and husband of a US Federal Judge just a mile west of Uptown Chicago (Andersonville) on Monday, Feb 28, 2005 brings the horrible reality of TERRORISM in all of its banal manifestations home to all Windy City residents with a brutal vengeance.

Since Mr. "Brown" (and his defenders and apologists) are allegedly "writers" (who can't seem to spell or even construct a simple paragraph free of errors) perhaps they would care to offer some cogent explanation of these seemingly dangerous activities and this concerted attempt to cover them up as well?

If so, they are certainly welcome to respond at:

THE WORLD IS WAITING MR. 'BROWN' - Cat got your tongue, "Yusef"?

Many Muslims believe that non-Muslims are kaffir-those disbelieving in Islam. This is not an insult; it is a description. The God in whom we believe did not come from the womb of a mother. The USA is a kaffir state-and kaffir includes those U.S. Muslims who ally with non-Muslims, e.g. in the U.S. Army, as in Iraq, and are therefore legitimate targets of jihad.

* THIS IS A WAR ON DEMOCRACY
* THIS IS A WAR ON FREEDOM
* THIS IS A WAR ON CIVILIZATION ITSELF

We must never forget about 9/11 and the attack on the USS Cole. And the destruction of the Marine barracks in Beirut. And the Khomeini regime and the hostage crisis. And thousands of other incidents, stretching back in time to when Muhammad led the first Muslims in the first jihad.

Islamist extremists in the world as estimated by moderate Muslim
leaders: about 12 million. Fundamentalist sympathizers: 120 million.
Those numbers represent 1 percent and 10 percent of the world's
Muslim population of 1.2 billion. The CIA puts the extremists much
higher - 40 million.

The Ayatollah Khomeini stated that the "Quran says: kill-imprison! Why are you only clinging to the part that talks about mercy? Mercy is against God"; and, "We need a Khalifa (leader of Islamic state) who would chop hands, cut throat, stone people."

Not all Muslims are terrorists, but almost all terrorists are Muslims.

Has anyone noticed that Mohammed always makes sure to include "and take their Money" when urging the slaughter of Kafir in the "Holy" Qur'ran? Mo's earliest followers were a group of Bedouins called the Ghazi (You will see it as ghazu also) - a tribe of Bedouin thieves outside of Median - who adopted his new 'religion' and then led their arms to the struggle - the Bedouin raiders played a vital role in the 'spread' of Islam and (believer it or not), the "Career" or THIEF is still held in high esteem in many parts of Al-Alam.

We just had a brutal murder of two relatives of a federal judge here in Chicago (see http://www.suntimes.com/output/news/lefkow04.html)

I'm about a mile east of the site of these callous murders so am acutely aware of the dangers of this sort of thuggish mentality.

Though links to any 'Islamic' terror are remote, the very IDEA that our judiciary can be held hostage to such TERRORISM is sobering to all Windy City Residents indeed and ought to send a strong message to ALL freedom loving peoples everywhere.

God Bless America,
