Here is another case of dhimmitude coming to the UK. Islamic law stipulates that a dhimmi who does not behave respectfully toward a Muslim voids his contract of "protection." Riaz Burahee probably thought that 92 threatening phone calls was a perfectly reasonable response to an insult from a Jew. It reminds me of a recent incident in which a Christian church in the U.S. was sending out flyers inviting people to attend. A Muslim called the pastor in hot anger, telling him never to send him such material again -- and repeating again and again that he had "no right" to send him such a thing in the first place. And the church indeed had no right to do so, from the standpoint of the laws of the dhimma, which have become ingrained into Middle Eastern culture and so still frame interaction between Muslims and non-Muslims in many areas.

This is an interesting and pertinent story, but I don't believe it comes under the heading of dhimmitude. The Muslim is, after all, being prosecuted for his actions. If the courts upheld his 'right' to act as he did, that would be a different matter.

johnb -- Marijuana has a long history in association with Islam. The assassins were, basically, the hashishan -- hashish users. They toked up before their murders.
I'm also suspicious of the "militias" committing the genocide in Darfur. They call themselves the "janjaweed militia" and to my admittedly American English ears, "janjaweed" sounds suspiciously close to "ganja weed", yet another name for pot.
I wouldn't be surprised to find jihadis toking up or getting a load of qat (another drug plant, used in the horn of Africa) before going on their rampages. I do remember a lot of reports from Iraq about the jihadis being hopped up on a wide spectrum of drugs.

I do think this article has to do with dhimmitude. The muslim felt free to terrorise a dhimmi who had broken the so-called 'pact of Omar',the original dhimmi charter.

They probably did report him very early on. Getting evidence, actually tracing the call to its source etc usually takes a lot longer than 3 days in London although the process should be quicker with modern technology. I know this from personal experience.
I agree with Interestd and I am cheered to know that the abuse was taken sufficiently seriously that the matter was prosecuted and a conviction achieved. I suspect that the threats against the children were a major factor.
Going off the immediate story this widespread Moslem penchant for little girls will ultimately lead to their downfall. The words of the Manic Street Preachers (although written on a different subject) are right "If you tolerate this, then your children will be next"

The fact that he claims to have no links to terrorism is probably true. He is merely acting in a manner prescribed in the Koran and therefore is acting in a normal rational way. He probably finds it strange that we consider these actions to be terrorism.
It's a mistake to vilify Moslems. But make no mistake: it is no mistake to vilify Islam. The thrust of our effort is to make clear to the average man and woman on the street that Islam is vile, and that the only right response to Islam is revulsion. To effect that change in the public's mind and across the culture of the whole of the world we must work slowly and persistently to get the message across to the general public that Islam is vile.
Individual criminal Moslems are a police matter, and nothing to do with us, as a rule. Islam, to the contrary, is not a police matter, and it had better not be in a democratic nation. If people want to be Moslems, it's not the business of the government. But it surely is the business of those who have to live with such people who try to promote their vile ideology. It is the duty of every decent man and woman on Earth to revile and destroy Islam. The religion itself promotes child-molesting. End of story.

If Qat were all that was on offer in some places on Atlantic Avenue, no one would worry. It is other kinds of mind-altering substances -- those inflammatory words in books, on tapes, on videocassettes -- that are problem.

I remember while growing up, hearing the odd nasty comment about Jews. The tired old 'money-grubbers' label, or that they're cheap. What's different about me that when I grew up I realized those comments were rubbish and stupidly hateful, that Muslims can't eventually get over it too?

In all fairness this dude is a moderate muslim,since we know what happened to the Armonius FAMILY in NJ, CONUS,when they offended muslims,so if he just called and harrassed because of being drugged up then give him more,hell give em all more and mellow them out.

In effect, this loser expected dhimmi behaviour from the Jew as his Allah-given righ,t and went off on one when he didn't get it. However, I still maintain that this isn't Dhimmitude becaue the police and courts took it seriously and prosecuted him. Dhimmitude would be for them to make allowances for him.
So far the courts have not taken 'cultural factors' into account, for example when prosecuting honour killings. Long may this continue.

The way I heard it, this guy was simply dissatisfied with the way he had been treated by a shopkeeper who happened to be Jewish. I don't remember what the casus belli was exactly, but it was insignificant. But evidently this loser has such a high conception of his honour that he cannot heal a wound to it even after days and days of ugly and threatening calls. If it was not so dangerous, it would be pathetic.
