Over the headline of this story CNN (thanks to Jeffrey Imm) has a banner that reads: "IRAQ: Transition of Power." Yes, but to whom is power in transition?
BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- A suicide car bomber Monday morning drove into a crowd of Iraqis outside a government medical office in Hilla, killing at least 125 and wounding up to 200 others, Iraqi government and health officials said.Iraqi police recruits were lining up outside the building to be given physicals, officials said.
This is quite a tribute to how vile Jihadist Islam is. A very impressive kill ratio showing skillful guerrilla warfare. Especially when you include the oil pipelines blown up yesterday. I'm sure Muhammad conducted warfare the same way. These murderers merely emulate Muhammad's life as the Koran commands them to.
Prayers for these murdered Muslim innocents. They must rise up against the Jihadist psycho killers.
The price for freedom is eternal vigilance,at the Arlington National Cemetary burns the Eternal Flame, this flame burns to remind us how much our freedom has cost,Honor Guards stand watch over the Flame as well as the Tombs of Heroe's forever faithful, even during Hurricanes these keepers of the light would not leave their post for the shelter available nor the order to abandon post,no,these keepers protect the Flame that represents the Unalienable Rights Granted Us by the Great Creator of the Starry Skies.
The terrorists numbers are closing in on them in a hurry what with the U.S. performing a Countrywide Sweep they have to utilize everything at they're fingertips before WE find it and them.
This is really terrible, my heartfelt condolences to all the families of the victims.
The one thing I don't understand is why line up in this manner for jobs. Surely there must be a better way thanm lining up to be killed.
What about postal, better protection around the recruiting posts or limiting the size of the line up.
At the very least let's not make it easy for the extremists. It is they who will burn in hell.
To think that the person who is responsible for this will be viewed as a "hero" in certain circles...
Imagine what this homocide bomber saw before detonating. Innocent men, women and children just standing in a group and this sick pig heads right for the largest concentration and blows himself up with glee in his heart. Animals.
My mind fails to grasp how a human being could do such a thing, until I remind myself what is at the root of his deeds and how strongly he believes in what he is doing.
My thoughts are with those poor Iraqi's.

There needs to be more restrictions on vehicular traffic there.
Agreed, not enough is being done to protect these queues of Iraqis. There should be no traffic curfews around police stations, especially in major recruitment drives. With such a major death factor lessons im sure will be learnt from this.
Bless those inncoents, all trying to rebuild their lives to be anhiliated by some evil scum.
God bless all who die or fight for freedom regardless of race or a nationality throughout time.
"dennisw" you are so right. This horrible act of terrorism committed against the innocent Iraqis is justified and encouraged by Koran. When I look back in time all conquests by Islam was backed up by terrorism. Indeed Islam is all about brainwashing whoever can be brainwashed easiest to do evil and intimidating non muslims until they convert. the question is: is islam with all the violence it instigates the "culminator" of all religions as Islam claims? or is Muhammad the false prophet?

I am waiting breathlessly for the anguished cries of outrage from all the other Muslim nations.
So if this homocide bomber goes to paradise and his 73 virgins, according to Islam what happens to the souls of the 125 people who were murdered?

To whom is the power in transition to indeed. I'm glad it is not just me who thinks that the "militants" , i.e., Moslem warriors there are operating with free reign. They pretty much kill GI's and other Moslems at will.
How can we really think that this country will ever be anything more than just another hot bed of Islamic blood shed, same as most every other Moslem nation that has experimented with non-Islamic government. It will only survive by a huge US military presence and that means daily bloodshed and loss of US lives for well into the distant future until these people reject the basic tenents of their faith or chase us off.
That means we opened up a can of worms that we did not plan to effectively deal with from the start. We thought according to Bush's explanation that the "basic universal principle" of humans just wantin' to breath free air would win em over.
Nope, didn't apply here with the alter-civilization. And are now playing pussy foot with the deadliest enemy our country has ever faced while getting picked off like ducks in a barrel while welcoming Moslems en masse into America und Europa.
Can anyone please tell me whose in charge here?

Voltaire on the Mohammedans
From the Philosophical Dictionary(published 1765)(free online):
http://history.hanover.edu/texts/voltaire/volindex.html
I TELL you again, ignorant imbeciles, whom other ignoramuses have made believe that the Mohammedan religion is voluptuous and sensual, there is not a word of truth in it; you have been deceived on this point as on so many others.
Canons, monks, vicars even, if a law were imposed on you not to eat or drink from four in the morning till ten at night, during the month of July, when Lent came at this period; if you were forbidden to play at any game of chance under pain of damnation; if wine were forbidden you under the same pain; if you had to make a pilgrimage into the burning desert; if it were enjoined on you to give at least two and a half per cent. of your income to the poor; if, accustomed to enjoy possession of eighteen women, the number were cut down suddenly by fourteen; honestly, would you dare call that religion sensual?
The Latin Christians have so many advantages over the Mussulmans, I do not say in the matter of war, but in the matter of doctrines; the Greek Christians have so beaten them latterly from 1769 to 1773, that it is not worth the trouble to indulge in unjust reproaches against Islam.
Try to retake from the Mohammedans all that they usurped; but it is easier to calumniate them.
I hate calumny so much that I do not want even to impute foolishness to the Turks, although I detest them as tyrants over women and enemies of the arts.
I do not know why the historian of the Lower Empire maintains that Mohammed speaks in his Koran of his journey into the sky: Mohammed does not say a word about it; we have proved it.
One must combat ceaselessly. When one has destroyed an error, there is always someone who resuscitates it.
Islam is often in the news these days. News articles that relate to Islam sometimes refer to the Shariah. What is the Shariah? The Shariah is the Islamic Sacred Law which was developed hundreds of years ago by Islamic jurists using the Koran and hadith (remembrances about what the Prophet Muhammad said and did during the time he was alive) as guideposts. The Shariah outlines a complete way of life in a legal framework which tells you how to do everything from how to pray to how to go to the bathroom. What does the Shariah law actually state? Here are some examples of Shariah law:

"In regard to religion, mutual toleration in the different professions thereof is what all good and candid minds in all ages have ever practised, and, both by precept and example, inculcated on mankind. And it is now generally agreed among Christians that this spirit of toleration, in the fullest extent consistent with the being of civil society, is the chief characteristical mark of the Church. Insomuch that Mr. Locke has asserted and proved, beyond the possibility of contradiction on any solid ground, that such toleration ought to be extended to all whose doctrines are not subversive of society. The only sects which he thinks ought to be, and which by all wise laws are excluded from such toleration, ARE THOSE WHO TEACH DOCTRINES SUBVERSIVE OF THE CIVIL GOVERNMENT UNDER WHICH THEY LIVE." "Those who do not remember history are condemned to repeat it." -George Santayana
``Forgive me if I am not justified in what I ask,'' said Scrooge, looking intently at the Spirit's robe, ``but I see something strange, and not belonging to yourself, protruding from your skirts. Is it a foot or a claw!''
``It might be a claw, for the flesh there is upon it,'' was the Spirit's sorrowful reply. ``Look here.''
From the foldings of its robe, it brought two children; wretched, abject, frightful, hideous, miserable. They knelt down at its feet, and clung upon the outside of its garment.
``Oh, Man! look here. Look, look, down here!'' exclaimed the Ghost.
They were a boy and girl. Yellow, meagre, ragged, scowling, wolfish; but prostrate, too, in their humility. Where graceful youth should have filled their features out, and touched them with its freshest tints, a stale and shrivelled hand, like that of age, had pinched, and twisted them, and pulled them into shreds. Where angels might have sat enthroned, devils lurked, and glared out menacing. No change, no degradation, no perversion of humanity, in any grade, through all the mysteries of wonderful creation, has monsters half so horrible and dread.
Scrooge started back, appalled. Having them shown to him in this way, he tried to say they were fine children, but the words choked themselves, rather than be parties to a lie of such enormous magnitude.
``Spirit! are they yours?'' Scrooge could say no more.
``They are Man's,'' said the Spirit, looking down upon them. ``And they cling to me, appealing from their fathers. This boy is Ignorance. This girl is Want. Beware them both, and all of their degree, but most of all beware this boy, for on his brow I see that written which is Doom, unless the writing be erased. Deny it!'' cried the Spirit, stretching out its hand towards the city. ``Slander those who tell it ye! Admit it for your factious purposes, and make it worse! And bide the end!''
``Have they no refuge or resource?'' cried Scrooge.
``Are there no prisons?'' said the Spirit, turning on him for the last time with his own words. ``Are there no workhouses?''

I still believe that ignorance, more than poverty as Dickens indicates, is the most dangerous of all human conditions. Peel back the veil of darkness which overlays most of humankind! Educate yourself; educate others!
Tangentially relevant, excellent article from Lee Harris, who has been a bit quiet lately, at techcentralstation.com:
http://techcentralstation.com/022805A.html
The article discusses Palestinian terrorism and castigates Western apologists for encouraging it.
Who can come forward and defend such murderous acts? Is it Sunnis marching in the streets of Iraq and proudly saying we murdered all these people in the name of Allah? Is it former Baathists who did this in the name of Allah? Can one even conceive a Jew,Christian,or Buddhist driving into a crowd of there own and murdering hundreds in the name of God? Is it not hard to understand why 90 PCT. of Muslims support the hate full 36 articles of the Hamas Charter? Anyone who claims that Islam is a religion of peace is ignorant and naive at best and I am sorry to say that also includes my President George Bush. Wake up western, and civilzed world and see Islam and its militant tenants for what they really are.
Mentat,
Thank you for the great quotes and links. Here I found another take on Sharia law from "The Islam Project" lesson plans.
http://www.theislamproject.org/education/Lessonplans.htm
"This simulation is designed to help students understand the origins of Shari’ah, or Islamic law, and the kind of legal thinking and scholarship that went into formulating it during the Abbasid caliphate (749-1258 C.E.). In the simulation students play the roles of judges, claimants, and defendants. After hearing a case presented to them, the qadis (judges) must pass judgment on it by consulting a variety of Islamic sources."
http://www.theislamproject.org/education/lawsimulation.html
This is only one of many outrageous lesson plans targeting our public schools. I hope to use some of this materia for another article, but anyone is free to do the same.
This is not an area of research where we should feel "territorial."
Regards to all.

Lebanese Gov't Resigns Amid Protests

"Today the government fell. Tomorrow, it's the one huddled in Anjar," opposition leader Elias Atallah told the crowd to cheers, referring to the Syrian intelligence chief based in the eastern Lebanese town of Anjar. He said the opposition will continue its actions until all demands are met.
PBS has a really good program called “A Company of Soldiers”.
They ride along with The Misfits a small combat unit from dog company, first battalion of the Army’s 8th Cavalry Regiment, Baghdad, November 2004.
You get a very good look at the Iraqi people and their inability to help or get out of the way.

Obviously, they seek these jobs because having a civil service is integral to the conduct of the public life of any normal country. And what makes you think that delivering mail is, in the minds of the suicide bombers, any less an indication of serving the government than any other part of the civil service.
8 million Iraqis braved the threats of the jihadists and Baathists because they want what most of the rest of the world enjoys -- the opportunity to elect the people who will govern them and the opportunity to dismiss them if they do a lousy job. What don't you get about that?
Hey Bar,
Could you provide some links to info about internet security (as you did two months ago). I seem to have lost the links you provided.
Any advice from anyone of enhancing internet security right now is welcome.
Frankly, I found the Voltaire piece both arrogant and outdated. It did not enlighten me on anything much. At any rate, I have little respect for him as a thinker.

Good. I am glad that you think for yourself.

If you are using windows XP make sure your firewall is on, along with automatic updates. You will find these settings under Control panel / Security Center. You need good virus software, Norton or similar. Keep windows up-to-date and your virus software up-to-date. Also, run a full virus scan weekly. You don’t want shareware on your system. Norton will delete most shareware and give the names of the rest that you have to delete by hand. If you use a wireless router, make sure you use its security features. I have surfed many an unsecured network with my wireless laptop. Well I guess that is one-way to hide your IP . . . LOL
This program, Ghostsurf, it will hide your IP address and personal info along with a pop-up blocker.

This program, “SecureClean” will erase temp internet files, e-mail, etc.. and has the ability to make those files unretrievable.

This site will show your IP and has great info on internet security

I've got a gut feeling that when these Jihadists come to America and go after the Mosques of the "Friends of the infidels" CAIR and Ibrahim Hooper will start to see the merits of "Profiling" at Airports and border crossings.
The irony here is so sweet,Hooper thinks he's immune to attacks by other Muslims but the Quran makes it very clear that all Muslims must kill the enemies of Islam and Allah, this includes
a verse that I saw where Allah insists that the lukewarm Muslim is a sinner in his eyes and therefor the enemy.
The proof of this is obvious,Western Muslims
have been mute on the slaughtering of Muslims by Muslims and somehow try to redeem themselves by
blaming the US for not keeping the peace,BTW,these are the same Muslims that scream "Racism" and "Islamophobia" when the US tries to assure Muslims of that same security in America.
Hooper can't have it both ways,he either accepts the Quran in entirety or rejects it.
pick one Hooper!
Thanks Bar!
"Only by embracing Islam ...once it is the global brand ...will there will be no war....nothing to fight about...peace will reign.
The more people who embrace Islam the quicker we will get to peace. I urge you to visit a mosque today ...listen to what the Imam has to say....look at the peace within Islam....."

Naseem,
Given that this atrocity was perpetuated by Muslims against other Muslims in a Muslim land, how then do you equate this incident with your comments above?
"This is really terrible, my heartfelt condolences to all the families of the victims."
Naseem, 28th February 2005, Jihadwatch
I agree. However as you should know, the Shiites, Kurds, Bahais, Sufis and the Ahmadiyyas are all considered heretics, and therefore unbelievers by the Sunnis. And as you should know, the Koran is quite clear how unbelievers should be dealt with (Sura 8:12, 9:5 etc). Will there then, be "nothing to fight about" when that "Islamic global brand" you believe in ever comes about?
I think not.
Dear Naseem,
