Unbelievable story at LGF: British teacher David Holford says that the Muslim blessing "peace be upon him" (often abbreviated "pbuh"), customarily written by believing Muslims after the name of a prophet, must now be written by all British students after they write the name of Muhammad:
The potential problem has arisen in teaching about Muhammad. The exam board requires that every time Muhammad is written, the letters "pbuh" in parentheses be placed after it. This is shorthand for "peace be upon him". The writer therefore prays a blessing upon him everytime his name is written, as is the custom of Muslims. So I have to tell my students (over and over if there is any hope of them remembering) that they must bless Muhammad every time they mention his name.

This is ridiculous. In Christianity, Mohammed is nothing. Whatever next? Will we have to refer to Jesus as "The Son of Mary".

Please explain why all UK students are to Bless the Islamic Prophet Mohammed every time his name is mentioned? This is reprehensible. Please remember that the fataw (legal ruling) on apostasy (leaving the Islamic faith) is death penalty. No major Muslim group in this country reprobates this. Including Muslim Council for Britain and The Muslim Association for Britain.

Absolutely revolting. A cousin by marriage told me that Muslims were exempt from religion classes that everyone else had to take in her school (which was chartered by Henry VIII) in Coventry, England. Now non-Muslim student will have to affix PBUH at every mention of Muhammad.
I read that and thought you have to be kidding me, really...
Anyway let me make it plain, most Brits don't bother going anywhere near Religious Education classes, I did my maths homework in my classes and dropped it as soon as I was able.

Is there no separation of church and state in Britain? If the queen of England is the head of the church of England, why would she allow this to occur. Would she like to become the head of British Islam as well? Would any British readers like to comment why the Royal Family (and the other ruling elites in Britain) would allow such a thing.

This means that any students who come under the OCR examination board (private company - not governmental) will loose marks on exam papers or coursework if they do not Bless the prophet on his mention. This certainly wont affect all students but a large proportion of them.

It figures that this would come from a teacher. No wonder the teaching profession's reputation has suffered recently. Too busy infecting our kids with PeeCee rubbish. In the meantime, many parents spend hours each week tutoring their kids, or paying for extra tutelage after school, because the teachers are too busy teaching PeeCee.
This goes beyond PeeCee though. This is religious indoctrination. Will they be telling all the kids to make the sign of the cross before they eat their lunches? I know many Catholics do this before meals, so why not all the kids at school? Oh yeah, I forgot, only one "religion" gets a free pass. And we all know which one that is.

Looking at human history it seems to me that many major events and trends seem to have a logic all of their own and seem to run a certain course to an inevitable conclusion with no reference to reason or logic.
Look at the Soviet Union's disastrous seventy year experiment with communism. You may have thought that after a number of years it was obvious it wasn't working. You may have thought they would have said "ah well, not going so well, let's give it away", but they carried on and ended up murdering tens of millions and ended in bankrupcy with millions of lives ruined. The world is full of insane human behaviour. I'd recommend "Death by Government" by R.J.Rummel if you want to read how insane and murderous the 20th century was.
Living in stable western democracies sometimes blinds people to external threats. They are so used to their benign and easy life of plenty, entertainment and ease, they think, why worry? Maybe this will be our undoing.

As for the rest, don't exaggerate the importance of this. It is a piece of cowardice by a non-governmental, yet bureaucratic body, nothing to do with the teaching profession (who, in general, despise examining boards) and which has had a deleterious effect on British life and education. The insanity of it is that high school examination certificates are awarded by private bodies who compete for schools as customers. As a result, they have an interest in playing up the achievements of their customers - the schools. Therefore it is a well-known fact that exams have got progressively easier over the course of the years, contributing to the dumbing down of British education and public life. Of course a body of such moral quality is not going to quibble over a little dhimmitude, is it! The rot has begun long before. The examining boards ought to be abolished, and the responsibility for nationwide standards of education taken by the State in full.

This is outrageous. Political correctness is going to get us all killed if we don't stand up for what we believe in. If they ever try anything like this in America I will scream to high heaven (Where the REAL God is). When I joined the service some years ago, I swore an oath to defend America against all enemies..foreign and domestic. Now I am no longer in the service, but if anyone calls me on that promise....I'm ready to live up to it. The American people need to stop coddling to the Muslims here and see the enemy that has already arrived. It's as if 911 never happened.
