Cox and Forkum has a good cartoon today-

It's reasonable to expect sales in the millions if there's the right publicity campaign for Spencer's latest book. We have to go far beyond the readership here to reach those people, and one way to do that is to cause some controversy in the public arena, some event worthy of national news coverage across America, perhaps beyond.

What catches the nose of those for news? Conflict works almost every time. How do we generate conflict in the public's eye without being instigators of it? provokation is one way, even unintentional, such as with the wanker from UNC. But some fore-thought, some planning and conscious effort on the part of those nearby to a Fox News outlet would be finer by far.

Copying the cover of Spencer's latest work and passing it out at a mosque near a Fox office might be good enough to provoke some reaction among the Moslem population therein, those who can usually be counted on to go stupid and violent. "What's all the fuss about?" Fox people might ask.

So far we still have the right to pass out copies of book jackets on public streets. I suggest we use it while we still can. If we do this with some planning and thought we might get Spencer's book on the news for a few days. And if we can co-ordinate this around the timing of the tv show on the Moslem family, so much the better. Just a nudge in the right place at the right time will be enough to push sales upward. More publicity, more sales, more awareness, less appeasement.

Your freedom of speech should end when they get their widdle feewings hurt!

If I swere devious, which I'm not, I'd copy the graphic above, photocopy it a few dozen times, wrap each one around a rock of substance, and leave them like bread crumbs between the local mosque and the nearest Fox station.

Excuse me now while I return to helping little old ladies cross the street.

Oh, is that a kitten in that tree? Well, do I have a busy day.

Another gem from the same site-

A woman is disciplined for forwarding an email.

Carolyn, I've seen that multiple-choice exam, that that disciplined woman got in an email. I think I got it as part as a chain email too. It's sure making the rounds. Good! It's a great way to state the bleedin' obvious, with a bit of humour. Get people thinking. But not good of course, when some precious diddums gets his panties in a knot and reports it as racial hatred. It's not racial hatred. It basically states who was responsible for recent terrorist acts. And it wasn't Tibetan monks.

But people should not fwd these emails from work though. Employers are getting tougher on employees wasting company resources, and anything that could be viewed as intolerant or bigotry, will be pounced on first and hardest.

Does anyone around here have the imagination, wit, and time to make a chain-mail letter of Spencer's new book title? I think it might be both fun and a good way of getting out some publicity for the book, for getting more people informed about the issue of jihad in the world. Or if we don't have imagination or wit, we can resort to the suggestion above, i.e rescue kittens.

Has anyone else read the Amazon.com editorial review by Publishers Weekly?

I ask because this review states that this book cites 'jihad' and 'dhimmi' but doesn't define it . . . and even goes as far as implying Bat Ye'or ignores basic concepts.

Anyone familiar with Spencer's writings is familiar with the terminology and I cannot fathom Bat Ye'or being ignorant in any basic concept of Islam.

Who is publishers weekly?

Publishers Weekly is a dumb organ. I've seen other reviews, such as "Crossroads to Islam" by Yehuda D. Nevo and Judith Koren on Amazon.com. They didn't like that book either. I bought this book when it came out back in summer 2003. Excellent, do buy, support critical scholarship. More importantly, this supports me, because this is part of my research area.

I believe I will post a link and comment on my blog when the book comes. It just shipped an hour ago, so it will be here soon, and then I can read it. Be prepared for critical, objective comments in my review.

Oops, my blog is here: http://ibn_rushd2.blogspot.com

I posted back in Aug. 2004 a review and quotes from Carmen bin Ladin's book. Must read.

I just got my copy today and it is excellent.

I'm not saying this because this is Robert's site. The book has the best from people such as Daniel Pipes, Bat Ye'or, David Littman, Walid Phares, Mark Durie, Srdja Trifkovic, etc.

They are clear and concise on the topic. This would be a great gift to give to someone you wanted to educate on Islam.

Congratulations with your book Robert Spencer!

I already saw that i can buy it here in the Netherlands, not sure if its also in the stores, but i can buy it from one of the most famous online mailorder companies in the Netherlands.
