The Bangladesh Journal (thanks to the Constantinopolitan Irredentist) gives us one for the "Comrades! Production is up!" Department:
Dhaka, Feb 26: Bangladesh Foreign Minister M Morshed Khan dismissed the notion of presence of international terrorists in Bangladesh, saying that there may be some “local goons” working in the name of religion, who are being arrested.“There is a difference between international terrors and local goons,” he said, asserting that there are no international terrorists in this country.
He said the government would not spare any person or group who engages in any anti-state activities by capitalizing on Islam. Many Islamic thinkers hailed the government decision.
Here is a more likely piece on the jihad in Bangladesh.
An interesting editorial from pakistan's 'the daily times' here:
http://www.dailytimes.com.pk/default.asp?page=story_27-2-2005_pg3_1
An excerpt:
It is ironic that the same Bangladeshi journalist who is in denial about “Islamist” terrorism wrote a book some years ago recording the death sentences passed on women in the Bangladeshi countryside through fatwas. According to the book, the number of women subjected to cruel illegal fatwas began after 1994 and rose to over 3,000 annually. During the period from 1990 to 1995, over 10,000 victims of rape, murder, abduction, forcible marriage and arbitrary divorce, were poor rural women with no social support. In 1993 alone, 6,000 women committed suicide after being trapped in fatwa situations. The obsession with sharia law was always present in Bangladesh but received a fillip through the Islamisation processes unleashed by General Ziaur Rehman and General Ershad, reaching a new furore after the “Taslima Nasreen incident” in 1994.
Says it all, kinda. This the stuff islamic revolutions are made of?
Yes. The thing about Islam, especially Sunni Islam, is that its power lies entirely in mob violence. It gives every man a commission to personally defend the honour of Allah and Mohammed, with little in the way of institutional barriers or balances - it is well known that Sunni Islam has no clergy in the true sense of the word, though Shia has developped a sort of clerical estate - where, in effect, any person who wishes to do violence in the name of Allah feels him/herself justified in doing so. The violence is from the bottom up, not, as in Western tyrannies, from the top down; and that means that the top layer of society, pleasantly socializing and schmoozing with their Western counterparts in civilized surroundings inherited from the colonial past, may genuinely be unaware of the depth and savagery of social cruelty in the roiling, half-hidden underbelly of society. Plus, one should never forget that Pakistan and Bangladesh are still parts of India after all, and anthropologists agree that anyone - Hindu, Muslim, Christian, Parsee or Buddhist - who comes from the subcontinent and tells you that caste does not exist among their particular group is simply deluding him/herself. The reality of extreme social stratification and endogamy is simply shovelled away a bit further out of sight in the Muslim parts of the subcontinent, but that does not by any means mean that it does not exist. To the aristocrats of Dhaka and Rawalpindi, their poorer fellow-citizens are not easily visible at all; they belong to a different world, a different caste. And it follows that the daily micro-violence in thousands of villages and small and muddy towns simply does not register on their consciousness.
Smoke and mirrors are used to create an illusion.
All of Islam is deception.
All of Islam plays the propaganda game.
And it's not a "small" "minority" of extremists.
"Adherents of militant Islam account for some 15-20 percent of the Muslim world..."

When I was younger I remember George Harrison or some other big name musician organizing a concert there for the starving hordes. "Concert for Bangladesh" I think it was called. Kumbaya mah lord, Kumbayahhhhh-
What part of "We are at War" doesn't this America understand?
Bear in mind that the concert for Bangladesh was organized when the country was struggling to free itself from the genocidal power of what was then West Pakistan. I do not think there is anything wrong about defending Muslims when they are victims of other Muslims. Or would you like the wretched Darfuris to be slaughtered and enslaved by the Sudan Arabs? If and when they commit crimes in their turn, it will be time enough to condemn them.
Bangladesh is a very impoverished country highly dependent on the good will and donations of better-off countries. It is also a very face-conscious culture where people don't like to air their dirty laundry--after all, they have to cling to every scrap of dignity they can muster. This is probably why they claim to have no militant groups while their police are probably arresting people right and left, rightly or wrongly, on suspicion of belonging to terrorist organizations.
As for 31 militant groups, it's probably the reason the country hasn't undergone an Islamofascist revolution by now. These groups are so busy slitting each others' throats in petty turf wars and the personal jealousies of their head honchos that they can't unite.
Paolo, there are also times when I would stand up for Muslims against certain non-Muslims. Last year, anti-Muslim rioting in Henan, China, was targeted against a community present in central China since the Tang dynasty (618-903 A.D.), that has always seen itself as part of the Chinese nation and state (unlike the Turkic-speaking peoples of Eastern Turkistan, aka Xinjiang, which is Chinese for "New Colony"), contributed it's fair share of men and casualties in the war with Japan, and, prior to being declared a "minority nationality" by the Communists, thought of itself as just as Han as anyone else, except for the religion. Indeed, the scattered Hui (Chinese-speaking Muslim minority) are more similar to their Han neighbors in language, culture, and custom than the Jews of Eastern Europe were like their Slavic neighbors, or the Armenians and Assyrians were like the Arabs, Turks, and Kurds.
But Henan is a place where a great deal of unregistered religious activity has been taking place among both Roman Catholic and Evangelical Christians, so I'm not surprised that a few Muslims might not attract the hostile notice of a dyed-in-the-wool Communist officialdom that has always seen traditional religion of any kind as a threat. Hence, an incident which, in any other country would simply have been seen as a case of a bad driver (who happened to be Muslim) striking and killing a child of another group was probably stroked by the authorities and state-controlled media to put a religious minority in its place.
On the other hand, I don't approve of how Hui in Shandong got riotous because some enterprising Han butcher put up a sign "halal pork" (in parts of China with a Muslim presence, halal butchers have a reputation for having more hygenic shops; where even non-Muslims go for beef, mutton, or chicken). They could just have easily put up posters or paid for announcements saying, "Look, neighbors, pork simply can't be halal, so your local mosque doesn't endorse any ads for 'halal pork'."
Also, I've seen East Turkistani Muslims on the web stand up for persecuted Han Chinese Christians in eastern and central China and for Tibetan Lama Buddhists. As a former US diplomat with experience in China, I understand their point perfectly well.
Similarly, while I work, pray, and witness for the conversion of my Muslim neighbors to Christ, I'm not about to firebomb a mosque or spit on a woman wearing a hijab. Repaying evil with good is something the original Paul taught us about 2 millennia ago.
Kepha, I am glad to agree with you completely, and interested to hear that you have personal experience of those nice people who brought us the Tien-An-Men Square massacre. I had not heard about the assault upon the Muslims (though plenty about the constant threat to the Churches), but I am not in the least surprised. Likewise, what I said, especially in the second comment from the top in this thread, comes from a certain amount of scholarly knowledge of the Subcontinent - I am not an Indologist, but my studies have involved a good deal of Indian history, and the persistence of caste among non-Hindu groups (in spite of the fact that most people will originally have joined Islam, Christianity or Buddhism exactly in order to escape the horrors of caste ideology) is a fairly universal phenomenon.

The Islamists have responded to the Charge of Danger in Chicago with their usual and tried charge of "Racism" - in s laughable diatribe that ended by nothing that "The Police was called" the illiterated editorial staff of the Employment, Training and Education Department assert that "Racism" is the cause of all this seditious activity -
Dangerous Radical found Preaching hatred and Revolution in America
Sunday, February 27, 2005 Chicago, Illinois
We are now witness to this in Chicago with a dangerous radical 'writer' who is known as Eric
Brown spewing anti-American hatred in the Employment, Education and Training Department at
Lakefront SRO Corporation (http://lakefrontsro.org). located in Chicago's Uptown Community
where he is employed as an 'intern'. The presence of this leftist radical is exposing a
mostly 'recovering' community (composed of many former drug addicts, alcoholics and ex-
gangsters) which often contains men who are very close to the life of gangs, drugs and the
streets to violent and inflammatory radical rhetoric at numerous sites throughout the Uptown
area. This vociferous individual is using workshops that are advertised as "Poetry" in
order to spread Black Panther Revolutionary ideas (Describing Police Officers as "Pigs who
shoot black children and urge them to "Die, you little motherf**ker") and other activist
literature that advocates "Revolution" with "Brothers in the streets") and is obviously
designed to foster hatred of the Police and incite violence.
Though there is no observable connection to Domestic of Foreign Terrorist groups at this
time, this sort of radical activity merits careful scrutiny by the entire community.
Attempts by representatives of AmericanJihad to question the employment and actions of this
confessed "political activist' have been met with 'banning' from the premises under threat
or arrest, threats of actual violence and a rather laughable attempt at coercion which
utilized the Chicago Police Department. What is the radical known as Eric Brown, along with
the Employment, Training and Education Department of Lakefront SRO Corporation trying so
diligently to conceal?
This same individual is also employed in a capacity where he enjoys a constant connection to
the Internet, so extreme caution must be taken to see that this system is not hijacked or
otherwise compromised in order to provide Islamist or Radical Terrorists with free and easy
access to an open computer network.
The potential for cyber-terrorism and Terrorist support that is posed by the Radical
ideologies of the individual known as Eric Brown (who professes that he is a Muslim and
admits support of Islamic Terrorist groups) is very real and in close proximity to these
systems and fragile individuals, all residents of Chicago must be made aware of these
potential dangers.
All Americans and ALL USERS must now be made cognizant of THIS 'writer' who is using the
name Eric Brown amd is proselytizing via hate-filled literature and rhetoric that is
designed to incite violence in Chicago's Uptown Recovering which makes this a noxious and
potentially explosive situation.
Perhaps Mr. "Brown" questionable activities are actually benign? Why don't you write him and
ask at:
yuseficus@yahoo.com
Since Mr. "Brown" is an alleged "writer" perhaps he would care to offer some cogent
explanation of his seemingly dangerous activities and his concerted attempt to cover them up
as well? If so, he is welcome to respond at:

Since a resident of Chicago's Uptown Hotel on Clark St near Wilson was arrested a bit over
six months in a plot to purchase ammonium nitrate and bomb the US Federal Building in
downtown Chicago, the presence of Dangerous radical and possible Terrorist supporters in our
very midst cannot be ignored.
Many Muslims believe that non-Muslims are kaffir-those disbelieving in Islam. This is not an
insult; it is a description. The God in whom we believe did not come from the womb of a
mother. The USA is a kaffir state-and kaffir includes those U.S. Muslims who ally with non-
Muslims, e.g. in the U.S. Army, as in Iraq, and are therefore legitimate targets of jihad.
* THIS IS A WAR ON DEMOCRACY
* THIS IS A WAR ON FREEDOM
* THIS IS A WAR ON CIVILIZATION ITSELF
We must never forget about 9/11 and the attack on the USS Cole. And the destruction of the
Marine barracks in Beirut. And the Khomeini regime and the hostage crisis. And thousands of
other incidents, stretching back in time to when Muhammad led the first Muslims in the first
jihad.
Islamist extremists in the world as estimated by moderate Muslim
leaders: about 12 million. Fundamentalist sympathizers: 120 million.
Those numbers represent 1 percent and 10 percent of the world's
Muslim population of 1.2 billion. The CIA puts the extremists much
higher - 40 million.
The Ayatollah Khomeini stated that the "Quran says: kill-imprison! Why are you only clinging
to the part that talks about mercy? Mercy is against God"; and, "We need a Khalifa (leader
of Islamic state) who would chop hands, cut throat, stone people."
Not all Muslims are terrorists, but almost all terrorists are Muslims.
