Pakistani army ordered to fire at 'intruding' US troops

This is what has come from Musharraf's repeated assurances that he is fighting against "extremism" in Pakistan. From the Indo-Asian News Service, with thanks to Fanabba:

Islamabad, Feb 22 (IANS) In what is seen as the first signal of Pakistan's assertion against US policies in its area, Islamabad has ordered the army to shoot at US troops if they intrude into the country from Afghanistan without authorisation.

"Pakistan has issued new rules of engagement permitting its army to fire at US forces that cross the border from Afghanistan without coordinating first," the Daily Times newspaper said Tuesday in a report from Washington.

This is NOT a reliable report. Not because it's from the Indo-Asian News Service, but because of who they got their information from:

The report is based on a "deep background" column in the magazine 'American Conservative'

In other words, it's an unsourced claim from a magazine that's hostile to the Bush administration in particular and the idea of a war on terror in general.

Robert:

Point well taken. However, there is no doubt that there are significant elements in the Pakistani government and military that are sympathetic to the global jihad. Thus I don't think this report can be dismissed out of hand, although certainly it could use some more confirmation. We'll have to see how things shake out.

Cordially

I agree Robert, this article just reeks of Jihadist misinformation which the likes of the Chechen jihadist site http://www.kavkazcenter.com/eng/ are so good at. They still maintain with a straight face that the fault for the Belsan massacre lays directly in Putin's lap.

From the Good News Desk:

"Rocket man gives up rebellion to put the Taliban on road to peace"
By Thomas Coghlan in Kabul

http://news.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2005/02/22/wtal22.xml

"One of the Taliban's most senior and charismatic commanders has become a key negotiator as more and more members of the Islamic militia in Afghanistan give up the fight against the Americans.

"The Taliban has lost its morale," he said, speaking by satellite phone from the heartlands of Zabul province, a Taliban redoubt."

With friends like those who needs enemies?

Does'nt matter if it was on the back page of Martha Stewart's "living"(oo Maybe not this one)it needs further enhancing which we here are good at doing.

IE:The murder of the Armonious FAMILY in NJ saw firsthand the effects of being pushy and in fact down right demanding actions be brought on this ASAP.The links provided by many here were forwarded to friends and family who in astonishment heard it for the first time like that.

My concerns as a laymen involve what looks to be a collusion of involvement and agreeance on behalf of the islamic countries.
Are we being sucked into a void here where the only option will be to %$#*& outta them,ALL OF THEM,and if this be the solution then why wait?

Things are not getting better.
Maybe they want a raise?

Once again we see our "allies" in action....

Anyone from the outside , looking in, can see that the bond between the US and Pakistan is unbreakable.

Sarcasm off....

It's time we cut all our ties with these upside-down thinking clit-biters.
Allegiance with muslims is an impossible scenario, any "human" who favours the afterlife (that most likely judging by todays science, does not exist) over actual life, is not the kind of person you want to be collaborating with. Their every waking moment is filled with acts of sheer lunacy, and befriending them is one of ours.
They can be no more trusted to round up terrorists than they can to not fornicate with your pet camel.

"They can be no more trusted to round up terrorists than they can to not fornicate with your pet camel."

Surely you know that the vast majority of muslims do not fornicate with our pet camels.

So I guess that statement must have been intentionally devoid of content?

Or were you seriously trying to tell us that "Fewer than 99.999% of muslims can be trusted to round up terrorists"?

P-H,
It's called humour, something muslims would probably try to ban was sharia in control of our country.

Where I come from we'd call a policy like that "Biting off more than you can chew".The Pakistanis are no match for US forces.Much like the rest of the Arab they will probably learn the hard way though.

Rikki, don't back down so quickly; in that area of the world, many still subscribe to the ancient misconception that one can "give away" a disease by fornicating with an uninfected animal. The problem is serious enough that U.S. Navy docs hand out instructions to our guys telling them not to touch the animals, many of which are infected with contagious diseases because of this practice.

About humor--you are right about that, too; as the Grand Ayatollah Komeini said, "There is no humor in Islam."

Wow, cubed, are you defending Rikki's position?

Tell me, do you believe that the vast majority of muslims fornicate with our pet camels?

Would you believe it just because someone posted it here?

I never thought it would be so hard to establish such a point, but I am going make a stand.

Regardless of what you may have read, the vast majority of muslims DO NOT fornicate with our pet camels!

From what I understand, Pakistan doesn’t even sent their own troops into the area near the border with Afghanistan. I heard this area was run by local tribes, that are extremely hostile to any and all outsiders, other Pakistani’s included.

Until all the Western see that we can´t sell weapons to islamic countries, we will be very bad. Pakistan don´t lie anything but we wanted to believe another thing.
