WASHINGTON - A wealthy Pakistani businessman who's being held at the Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, prison camp for suspected terrorist ties urged al-Qaida operatives to acquire nuclear weapons for use against U.S. troops and said he knew where to get them, according to American investigators.The allegation, contained in documents filed recently in U.S. District Court in Washington, also identifies Saifullah Paracha, 57, who has an import business in New York, as a participant in a plot to smuggle explosives into the United States and to help al-Qaida hide "large amounts of money."
There are few details about the smuggling plot and little additional information about what the businessman, a permanent U.S. resident who's been held 19 months without charges, may have known about how to obtain nuclear weapons.
Paracha, during a review tribunal of his case in November at the U.S. naval base in Cuba, vigorously denied any ties to al-Qaida and scoffed at the nuclear allegation.
"Is a nuclear weapon something I could buy off the shelf? Can you buy it from Tony Blair?" he told a panel of military officers, referring to the British prime minister.

No Muslim state can be allowed to acquire, or to retain where it has already acquired, major weaponry. This includes not only nuclear, biological, and chemical weapons, but also missile and planes for delivery of such weapons, advanced guidance systems, Stinger missiles, and much else. Ideally, Muslim countries would be prevented from acquiring any weaponry from the Infidel world that could threaten that world.
But, since the ideal state, in which Muslim peoples and polities are armed only with jeeps, rifles, and zumbookars, is unlikely to be achieved, whatever weapons continue to be foolishly supplied (why is Egypt, for example, the most anti-American country on earth, and the world center of antisemitism, supplied with any military equipment by the United States? It makes no sense, not least because there will be those within an Egyptian regime perfecty prepared to supply other regimes, or Muslim groups, with whatever is in the Egyptian armory), there are ways to jimmy or sabotage such weaponry.
Consider how during the Reagan Administration a super-computer, programmed to malfunction, was supplied to the Soviet Union. Surely it is not beyond the whit of American and other Western programmers to sell all sorts of equipment to Saudi Arabia or Egypt, or anyone else, equipment that can malfunction whenever it is, in the view of the Infidel suppliers, being misused? The possibility that the Americans and other dastardly Infidels (and that should include China, Russia, everyone)have done this will permanently dampen the ambitions -- at least of direct military confrontation -- of Jihadists everywhere. Of course, they will still try to burrow within the armed services and police of Western states -- which is something that has to be discussed, without any further inhibitions and pretenses about Islam, by NATO officers and the police forces of the Western, or rather entire non-Muslim world. It is not a theoretical and wildly fantastic idea, given the long history of Islamic Jihad-conquest and the tenets of Islam (the ones that the apologists would like you to ignore, or misunderstand, or be distracted or diverted from paying attention to).
From the Infidel point of view, the ideal for Muslim states is, once again: Jeeps, rifles, zumbookars. Never to be attained, but perhaps asymptotically approximated. And meanwhile, everything must be done to demoralize and to create fissures and uncertainties and doubt within Islam, rather than -- as at present -- to keep whistling in the dark and pretending there is nothing fundamentally wrong with Islam except for that handful of -- fundamentalists.
