That is all the Amendment says. Citizens are allowed to bear arms only so that they can form "a well regulated militia". It does NOT say "every citizen having the right to execute justice on whom he wills, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed". Learn to read. It is not the best-formulated piece of legislation in the world, but its import, to anyone but gun nuts, is obvious. And its abuse is one of the reasons why I shall never set foot on the United States of America if I can help it.

All above quotes from Thomas Jefferson who was around when the constitution was written, so he knew the intent of the 2nd Amendment.

Van Gogh was murdered, yes, but think of the man who killed him, and too of those others responsible for Van Gogh's murder. All of them are ruined now, their lives, such as they were, destroyed. For every normal and decent man murdered by Moslems there might be a million Moslems who suffer under the evils of Islam themselves. This struggle is for more than the defeat of Islam in the West: the fight is for the lives of those who might otherwise live reasonable and decent lives if they had the chance to think and learn and love without the bondage of Islam holding them back from life as potentially full and mature men and women. The devastation of Islam isn't contained by deporting Moslems, Islam has to be destroyed so it doesn't destroy the lives of a billion people who are victimized by it as it is. This struggle isn't just about "us." This fight is for the lives of a billion people who are going to die if we can't stop them from committing mass suicide.

What is to be done? Friends, we have the greatest mission in recent history before us. We can choose to save a great part of Human life by defeating and destroying the very existence of Islam. It is ordinary citizens who decide that someone must die, not, as criminals will, because they want his money, but because they don't like his face. I have said for considerable time, that muslims are the very first victims of islam. The koran has an ideology within it, that claims that all that is to be known, are within the koran. As a consequence, free inquiry died out in regions that were subjugated by islam. Muslims in general closed their minds to the developing saga of mankind. The koran is thus responsible for the intellectual impoverishment of a significant part of humanity.

It is indeed right that we should set our goal to liberate this portion of humanity from the chains of slavery that islam has put on them. They need external liberation in much the same way that slaves could not liberate themselves, and needed an external agency to do this.

However, there is another issue at stake here. Before we sail forth to liberate the islamic world, we need to ensure that we are free from the threat within. If this is not the case, then we will lose the war at home, and we will enter a Dark Age of the islamic kind - the very worst imaginable.

Havoc, and Hugh in his pessimist moods, has advocated some kind of expulsion. I have felt that deportation in the form of exchange of populations is probably the most humane way to set about this. The problem will not be solved in a day or year. It will take the same amount of time at the least, that it took for muslim populations to establish their numbers here. But once the motion is started, it will have a momentum and more important, an impact of its own. Left to their own rapidly exploding populations, unable to get succour from the West, the islamic world will have to ask itself some hard questions about the role of the koran in a modern society. Once that starts, they will be on the way to civilisation.

I feel that this is a humane way to bring the muslim world to its senses. Other options lead to Third Conjecture type scenarios where hundreds, if not billions of people perish. And at the end of it, the victors will impose conditions far worse then before the onset of a real hot war.

Have you ever read a Supreme Court decision?

I ask because you have a very shallow and misinformed understanding of how the U.S. Constitution works. Quoting a single sentence from the Constitution and thinking you can discern its intent is astonishing vapid and sloppy thinking.

The Constitution is a framework, unlike, say... the blithering 852 page long EU Constitution. When Constitutional matters are before the Supreme Court the Justices refer to it, as well as the coupious amount of literature the Founding Fathers produced, to decide just what the intent of the various sections were. You might have to broaden your reading to better understand the Second Amendment issues, and the arguments on its reach and limitations.

I think I see where your coming from, if I am right, then you are actually expressing a quiet determination to reist the encroachment of Islamic fundamentalism...yes?

If the above supposition is correct, then you are arguing at cross purposes to the majority of the people on this site, for the majority opinion is an expression of resolute resistance to the radical extremes of Islam, all be it in a more forceful manner. That they express themselves in differing mannerism's than you, does not diminish the validity of those opinions, in short, you end up coming across as a pious, self righteous fool, which in turn invalidates your own opiniion; not a very productive approach I might add. For dialogue to be productive, we must approach each individual as an honest interlocutor and discern from there, who is right, who is wrong and who is just plain decietful.

The willingness to stand up and fight for one's beliefs, one's family and one's right to exist as an individual in this world gone mad; where we as citizen's of a peaceful and prosperous West are used to comfort and leisure, is not something to be turned on like a light switch, rather an ongoing observation of events and circumstances, drives a smoldering build up of anger, which ends up motivating said expressed sentiments.

If on the other hand, I am wrong in my supposition, then all I can say is that your pious platitudes will bring you cold comfort in the grave.

You have not worn a uniform nor sworn an oath to defend your country and your Constitution. I have done all of these things. And if I have come to hold certain definite views about citizenship, I fail to see how it would contribute to the struggle against tyranny to bow and scrape because others regard me as "a pious fool". More fools they. Meanwhile, I claim my right as a free man to have my own views about what makes a good state and a good government. If I were to surrender them just because a few loudmouths do not like them, on what grounds could I even think of resisting any other kind of tyranny?

Oh. About the grave. Last I looked, we all are going to find cold comfort there. The point is what you do as long as you are alive. Some of us chatter about killing people they do not know; others would be more interested in how to change the mind, or even reinforce the wavering loyalties, of people we do know. I am not particularly interested in killing Muslims, unpleasant duty though that undoubtedly is; on the other hand, I am very keen indeed to see Islam destroyed - or if not destroyed, at least bridled and chained. That is the difference between me and many respondents here. And if you signify your intention to fight tyranny by demanding that nobody should disagree with you, then I think that you are somewhat at odds with yourself - to say the least.

Your willfull missinterpretation of my position, displays a total contempt for differing opinion, either that or your reading comprehension skills in the English language are sorely deficient. At no point did I say that you should not have an opinion of your own, rather that you are too quick to judge others and condemn their positions out of hand. Who do you think you are kidding, your bluster comes across as pious self righteous posturing, where a more reasoned approach might serve your arguments far more forcefully.

You claim that you have served your country in defence of societies moral principles, indeed I have no reason to question your claim and accept it on face value, but the tone of your argument implies an intolerance of differing opinion...Sorry Paolo, but that's what it sounds like from this end. Maybe if you stop and listen once in a while, it might help you to formulate a more cogent and productive position.

Being utterly disgusted and also very worried by the present state of my country’ policies at home and abroad,I am giving considerable thought to establishing myself with my family in a country that gives us the feeling of security we find lacking here, in Spain. Needless to say, in doing so, my wife and I are only thinking of the future of our children.
Well, after serious scrutiny, we have chosen the United States of America as the most suitable place to move in. By the way, one of the features having more weight in our analysis of the possible candidates is the 2nd amendment in the American Constitution, the right of people to bear arms. The logic behind our reasoning is that if any Government cannot guarantee that the legal ban on arms applies to everybody, then everybody should be allowed to take care of him/herself on the vital corner of self-defence. It is my sad reflection on Europe’s grim future that when the muslim hordes decide to deliver their first and perhaps final blow to the Western world it would be against us EU softies, full of Paolos as it is, if only because 200 million small weapons spread about the American geography make a big difference.
We would also chose to live in one of the States still applying the death penalty, if only because we are law abiding persons who happily rely on the public powers to administer justice in a way that spares us to personally doing so. Imagine the despair of almost one thousand victim´s families here in Spain who have been told by the guy recently appointed by the Government to represent them that they should be willing to accept certain concessions to be granted to the terrorist who slaughtered their loved ones when a new round of ‘conversations’ are opened with our domestic fascist scourge. If the death penalty had been applied to those butchers we wouldn’t be today damming our Government for extracting political dividends out of the blood of the innocents, as they will finally and surely do.
