Now, for something ON TOPIC (nudge-nudge Gary): Just imagine, friends. If it's this easy to get a job on a military base, how much easier is it to get a job working for airline security, or with US Customs or Border Patrol?

Back to airports, the pilots then were not allowed to carry guns in the cockpit. This is a small example of any number of asinine policies of liberals. How in the world can liberals expect to win a war on terrorist killers when all they do is impede efforts at prevention, come to the aid and comfort of the enemy even after they kill innocent people, and rush to the defense of suspected terrorists at every available opportunity? Look, document forgery is a bigtime criminal activity regardless of who's in control in Washington. The same technology the government uses to make your passport or military ID is also available on the market to the baddies. When I was with State, there was an adage that the latest security feature on a US visa would be on the street in Manila within a week.
Hence, I am not surprised a soldier got busted for making fake ID's.
Ya gotta love it! I retired from the military after 20+ years of active duty. I kind of know how the military works, so, I applied for civilian jobs with the Army. In fact, I applied to approximately 100 openings. I got ONE interview. Didn't get the job, though. Nope, they hired somebody who already worked there. Veteran's preference - yeah, right! Wonder how many Vets Yusuf Khalil Jackson beat out for his job?

I am a Christian from a Middle Eastern background who tried my earnest to help my country, the Great U.S. of America after 9/11. I would have joined the Military, but I have a myriad of ailments and an extremely poor level of physical fitness. Despite having an advanced degree and actual translation experience, no federal agency seemed interested in my qualifications. Therefore, I went through a private Military contractor and I ended up participating in operation Iraqi freedom. I interpreted and translated for front line troupes and OGAs’ (Other Government Agencies). When I went through the security screening and hiring process, which took several days, I got a brief introduction to the other applicants. I was startled to see fanatical Muslims, Arab nationalists, and America bashers pass the screening, while Iraqi and other M.E. Christian, who had the right attitude, were sent home. I discovered that the process was entirely dependent on who conducted the screening and not on the screened subject. Even before leaving to go to Iraq, I discovered that a great portion of these so called linguists were scumbags to put it mildly… i.e. fanatical Muslims to the nth degree, conmen, and snake oil salesmen.
In Iraq, I encountered a bunch of vile, America hating, Muslim fanatics who were highly placed and trusted. Some did not fear loudly voicing their hatred of America, their wish to see it destroyed and Islam prevailing. I know that this is fantastic and difficult to believe, but it was widely known and witnessed. All that chatty fallow got was a friendly chat to knock it off, and he went right back to work in his highly sensitive position screening captured Iraqi government files and insurgency related documents. 9/11 was a God sent to Muslims, 1000’s of cabbies and underemployed Muslims received security clearness and six figure salaries while obstructing the war effort and harass the dedicated Christian and the few Muslim-in-name-only linguists. The famous FBI gate was the brightest example of this blunder on part of our government. How would you feel if you left your country of origin to escape Islamic fanatics, and after joining the war on terror, you find yourself again a dhimmi at tax payers’ expense? I can not describe the amount of hurt and disappointment that dedicated American Christian linguist faces in this situation. I feel conflicted about wishing to go back to serve my country when I know it will be all in vain as a result of the determined blindness of the powers to be. God help us all.
Have_Mercy: If you are first generation, it would've been an honor to have signed your immigrant visa (I am a former US consular officer). Frankly, it's my experience that the US government rewards the folks who are most touchy about real and imagined insults and who creatively "brown-nose" rather than those who have the best expertise.
Also, while I am not one to demonize all Muslims, the US government is probably bending over backwards way too much to prove it isn't discriminating against them.
