The headline comes from the BBC article itself (thanks to EPG), unchanged. In light of the fact that the bias noted in the article includes the fact that "in Germany ... more than 80% of those surveyed last year associated the world 'Islam' with 'terrorism' and 'oppression of women,'" I would have put the quotation marks on the word "bias" rather than on "spreads." After all, there are movements around the world today, some of which are recruiting heavily in Europe, that are themselves associating "Islam" with "terrorism." To pretend that this association is the work of anti-Muslim bigots is ridiculous, unless Osama himself, along with Omar Bakri and all the rest, is an anti-Muslim bigot. The same thing goes for the oppression of women.
Muslims in Europe have faced increased discrimination since the 11 September attacks, according to a new report. The study by the International Helsinki Federation for Human Rights (IHF) covers 11 EU members states. It looks at "widespread" negative attitudes towards Muslims, including unbalanced media reporting which depict Muslims as "an enemy within".
The report, "Intolerance and Discrimination against Muslims in the EU", is based on second-hand accounts....
In France, the debate over the French law forbidding religious clothing in schools had encouraged discrimination against Muslim women who wear headscarves, the report says.
As a result of the law, which was designed to uphold France's tradition of separating state and religion, some women have been unable to marry, vote or take exams in a headscarf, it stated....
In Germany meanwhile, more than 80% of those surveyed last year associated the world "Islam" with "terrorism" and "oppression of women" - although it was unclear to what extent this resulted in discriminatory behaviour.
The BBC is fighting at the frontlines of yet another losiing battle - this time, one against truth and common-sense and people connecting the dots about the 'alleged' linkage b/w islam and islamo-terror....
"although it was unclear to what extent this resulted in discriminatory behaviour."
These people are so full of it. There is no bias towards muslims, people hear what muslims have to say and reject it because they don't like what they hear. When will these idiots learn that muslims have an agenda? Nobody bothers with people praying inside a mosque and generally minding their own business. What bothers people is the teachings of islam that go against everything we stand for. Of course, now they are quick to tell us that all those bad things aren't really islam but just 'culture'. Female circumcision? Not islam! Killing adulterous women? Not islam! Marrying off virgin daughters? Not islam! Dhimmitude? Not islam! Jihad? Not islam!
Everyone who tells you differently is a racist, a bigot, an islamophobe, a supremacist, a hatemonger.
The "bias" exists with the notoriously Arabist Baghdad Broadcast Corporation and not the general populace reacting to the conduct of a sizable portion of Muslim immigrants and the general conduct of some Muslim/Islamic nations on the world scene.

This belongs in the category of:
"What are you going to believe, me [i.e. taqqiyah] or your lying eyes?"
Maybe they should be looking for the reasons for the German "bias" in cases like this:

I see a connection between this article and the article just before it about the women MP's in Pakistan demanding that airline hostesses and female police officers wear Islamic dress. Whether Muslims are in the majority, in the Middle East and some parts of Asia, or whether they are in the minority, in countries in the West (so far) their religion must always be accomodated. This is what many people in the West fear and do have a bias against. Yes, my neighbor can wear a headscarfe if she chooses to do so and she can send her daughter to school in a headscarfe. The problem is when her fellow Muslims get more numerous in my neighborhood, then they will want me and my daughters to wear the headscarfe, in order that I not offend their Muslim sensibilities. Islam is a one way street, without compromises or self-criticism, and it is a religion with no exit visas for those Muslims who reject it. More and more non-Muslims are understanding this....I guess the BBC will just have to catch up with their viewers.
Yep, no question certain aspects or sects of Islam or Islamic tradition or the behavior of many Muslims have nothing to do with Islamic terrorism or the negative attitudes of many toward Islam generally. It is unquestionably "hate speech" and "discriminatory" to question the bigoted ideology of sharia law which mandates second class status for non Muslims and virtual slavery for women.
It is further "discriminatory" for the French to impose a school dress code in France. The nerve of the French. The idea of a school dress code is a very "insult" to the principles of freedom and justice. There is undoubtedly untold "suffering" and "pain" going on amongst many French Muslims who have been "denied" their "fundamental right" to wear headscarves in school. When is this abominable head scarf law going to be repealed so this excruciatingly painful and torturous "discrimination" can be stopped???

Sex with 6 year olds? Not islam.
So what is islam? islam is submission, and that means no stupid questions from you kaffirs or else. Got it?
Sometimes in my more pensive moods, I would like the world to deal out to muslims what the islamic world has been dealing out to the rest of the world for the past few centuries. This may be unfair, as it is a visitation of the crimes of the fathers on the sons. But the fact is, that this muslim bigotry continues through the generations. Thus reciprocity may be the only way to bring this evil culture to a full stop.
I'm still waiting for the BBC article deploring the anti-Western bias spreading in islam...
Oh, here we go again with this tiresome sob-story. The poor, oppressed Muslim! Victimized by nasty Europeans! Oh, the despair, the agony of it all! (Cue violin music).
Well, if what the Beebs says is true, this report is good news. What they call "anti-Muslim bias" is actually people becoming enlightened and knowledgeable about what Islam is really about. Great news, in fact.
The part about discrimination, I believe is total BS. What Muslims demand, they get. How is that discrimination? As is the statement that there's "unbalanced media reporting". The mainstream media has being going out of its way to not use the "T" word (terrorist) when describing Islamic terrorists. Using words like insurgents, militants, freedom fighters, etc. instead, and bending over backwards to not associate Islam with terrorism.
So if people are viewing Muslims as "an enemy within", I believe that would be from intelligent, thinking people putting two and two together, versus brainlessly swallowing whitewashed crap from the media. People go by actions, not words. What we see is more than enough proof of what Islam is really about. They're their own worst PR. No matter how much airbrushing & whitewashing the BBC and ilk might do, they can't dispute the reality before our eyes.
In Germany meanwhile, more than 80% of those surveyed last year associated the world "Islam" with "terrorism" and "oppression of women" - Again, good news. Shows that only 20% of Germans are uninformed or oblivious to reality.
feralee:
the 20 % you mentioned who are uninformed or oblivious to reality, could that be Muzzies?
(Just joking!)
Notice that the anti-Muslim bias in Spain is not mentioned. I guess the train bombings are too fresh in peoples' memory.
i have to tell that i ma not a religious muslim.but you should not classify all muslims.i agree that they got some strange and barbarously beliefs. i live in istanbul and i suppose 5mil. turkish peole are living europe and thank god they dont live in my country.mostly turks and other muslims live in ghettos and they do not have relations with non-muslims.you got right arguments but you can not compare true muslims with terorists
