Austrian Minister Backtracks on Anti-Hijab Comment

From IslamOnline, with thanks to the Norwegian Kafir:

VIENNA, March 16, 2205 - Austrian Interior Minister Liese Prokop has backtracked on anti-hijab statements, thanks to immediate and astute action from the Muslim minority in the south-central European country.

"I respect Muslim women and their right to choose their attire," Prokop said in press statements carried by IslamOnline.net Tuesday, March 15.

She shifted her ground following a visit by a delegation led by Amina
Baghajati, the media spokeswoman for the Islamic Religious Authority (IGG), the main representative body of the Muslim minority in Austria.

Prokop told the state-run Falter magazine on March 8 that she strongly supported banning hijab-clad women from teaching in schools.

"I consider now the legality of banning hijab in schools," Prokop told the state-run Falter Magazine Tuesday, March 8. "But, anyhow, I will throw my weight about the ban."

Expectedly, the minister's statements raised the ire of the Muslim minority and government officials with Chancellor Wolfgang Schussel saying Prokop was in no position to address such an issue.

Reinforcing the eminent status they enjoy under Islam, Austrian Muslim women established last month the Muslim Women Forum in Austria (FMFO) as an affiliate to the IGG to get the message across.

"The eminent status they enjoy under Islam"? The eminence of getting beaten for disobedience (cf. Qur'an 4:34)?

Politicians will be the last to awaken to the reality of cultural and political Islam. Common citizens will be and are the first; publicists, journalists and free minds will be next; ecclesiastics and some academics will follow; and the politicians will be dragged along, if at all, kicking and screaming, because they are so greedy for Muslim votes.

Why would they want such teachers?

Unless it is a Muslim religious school.

Would they allow a satanist to wear a red cape and horns?

Or a druid to don a wolf's head helmet?

Schools are supposed to be secular zones of intelligence, not subconscious cultic indoctrination centers.

The Nazis tried that path, and it crashed into the ditch of oblivion.

I guess Austria needs a second lesson.

Although this one won't be gotten rid of so 'easily'.

I wear my cape and horns to all my classes, and sometimes to departmental meetings. Occasionally I'll bring the pitchfork as well, but only around exam time. It keeps the student's attention focused on the coursework.

Geoff-

I find one of those pointy black wizard's hats with golden stars and moons works best for middle schoolers. (Wand optional.)

And, of course, a greasy wolf pelt hood is good while proctoring the SAT's.

Religious institutions can wear anything they want, but public schools are for learning to think, not having the predigested example of a creed wobbling in your face all day. Whether burkha or hijab or yarmulkah or deerstalker's cap or cowboy hat (the religion of the Great-of-Outdoors).

The dress should be professional, not confessional.
