In the course of an average day I get several emails from people who tell me they can't comment. I am sorry for this, as it is a mysterious problem that seems to originate with TypeKey. And even I have had the experience of signing in and then getting the message that I need to sign in.
For that problem, however, I have discovered a fix: sign in, and then close the window. Open a new window and go back to the thread on which you signed in -- you should then be able to comment.
And when you comment, please be courteous, back up your points with reason, avoid foul language and empty insults (including terms like "Muzzies"), and rather than calling for nuclear actions or genocide, work to come up with constructive and realistic solutions to the problems we face.
Comments continue to be unmoderated, so I can take no responsibility for them (although jihadists and their allies, unable to find anything in my own writings that they can hang me with, continue to quote comments as if I have made them). All are invited to comment: non-Muslim, Muslim, non-Buddhist, Buddhist, whatever. But let's try to make it a productive or at least illuminating exchange, rather than simply a trading of raspberries.
I thought this phenomenon was a fault of my rather old, slow, steam powered, dial up system. What I have been doing is highlighting what I have written then copying it (ctrl + c) before posting, so that I don't lose it if I need to sign in again. Then I just have to paste using ctrl + v.
If I have a lot to say I may draft in word first, check spelling then copy and paste. It takes time, but helps me not to be hasty if I am angry, and a little delay will deter the lazier troll.
I have noticed that the most difficulty occurs during the period when new articles are being loaded. I don't know if that has been the problem for others: I just happen to be wanting to post at that time because of the job hunt and other chores.
I would like to say this: These weekend jihadists who come here to harrass us and then declare 'victory.' The Very First thing we must not do is flame back: instead, prepare a file of questions, facts, statistics, links. Read what these jokers say and them slam their flaming/rhetoric right back down their throats. Much in the way I keep posting links to articles about what is going on in our public schools and colleges across the US.
Make them Run. They want you to say hateful/spiteful things so they can point to those comments elsewhere, to prove their case.
It's gotta stop.
Some of the "jihaddist trolls" are really too clever by half (Reza, Wahhabi). They simply post assertions like, "Your grandchildren will be Muslim", expending virtually no intellectual energy on their own part (and probably don't even believe what they write). The anti-jihaddist bloggers here go for the bait and only end up amusing the hell out of the trolls.
Next time one of them comes along, think before you blog. If they fit the Reza/Wahhabi mold, just ignore them.
I have found that sometimes hitting refresh is enough to solve the problem.
I sometimes have trouble signing out.
This usually works for me:
Go to your control panel and delete cookies and temporary internet files, then clear your history.
Waterdragon,
Merely do the same back on their sites. Easy emotional points? Of course. That's why they do it. Do unto morons as they do unto you.
As a matter of fact, the Quran commands it. You're required to do it until their "religion is for God", whichever God that might be.
;)
Geoff
Thanks for the suggestion Geoff. It would definitely be fun to assure the Islamists that their grandchildren will be Jewish and sit back and wait for the reaction, but before I'd do that, I would want to be absolutely certain they could never find out where I live or work.
I've already told a 14-year-old wannabee nazi that he really wanted to be Jewish. This was on Hitler.com... Yep they do get P'Od in a hurry!
Sometimes the "POST" function locks-up and later I see the entry has been posted twice, the other problem is spelling errors, when I correct a word or spacing the final comment shows
news mistakes.
I'll try to use the "Preview" feature
and maybee the massage will be moore
accurate.
Dear Mr. Spencer,
Trying a new account to see if the Typekey system works.
So far, so good.
As far as "insulting people", from what I see of multitudes of Islamic websites, and Muslim material online, they couch their contempt for the West in the soothing semaphore of the latest politically-correct claptrap (or 'socialist' subterfuges), but, from a close reading of their holy texts (Quran/hadiths), I see nothing but too much of the same old same Old Testament patriachal call for a Planetary Theocratic Tyranny.
One that we only just recently pried loose, in its 'christian' despotic forms, throughout Europe and puritan America, after more than a millenia of unholy alliance with mundane government, whether traditional kingdoms or their later semi-secular offshoots. (The First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution would have been rank blasphemy a few years earlier than 1776, even in the colonies.)
As someone who does not want to go back to the Rule of Faith, having seen, through the historical record, its bloody waste and anti-intellectual disastrousness, all I need to know about Islam is: -it is this same tired brain-caging folly.
Arguing with its proponents over textual details appears less than useful, and more than absurd, to me. Their entire 'project' is an old tale of: "I know the Truth, so agree with me, or die." I freely disagree. And will let them do the dying, if they force the issue.
Allowing this anti-intelligent Bronze Age mindset to gain Atomic Age weaponry is suicidally insane. But, the West, in its secular greed, drifts along with this as a fait accompli.
Until this anti-awareness, anti-rational, all-too-familiar creed kills millions of 'infidels', the Big Sleep of Reason -and 'the treason of the intellectuals' which abets it in the West- will continue.
Mass-murder is a terrible smelling salts, but, having reviewed human nature in its consummate cowardice and delusional dullness, little else looks likely to awaken those who prefer to watch people eat bugs on t.v., play video games on their potentially-globally-reaching computers, and ignore the deadly moment of history we have reached.
When we should be sending probes to Alpha Centauri and not arguing toward Apocalypse about the henna hairs of a dead desert despot.
I find the 'religious' desire for earthly power perennially dangerous. Islam is the only latest 'noxious creeper' to try to strangle the infant intelligence of humanity in its celestial cradle. Anyone with a connected cortex can do nothing other than to resist the eclipse of our dawning mind. It is the only true light we have.
If this insults the cultists of irrationality, so be it.
Thanks for letting me call their spade a spade. And I hope it digs their historical grave. As their true intolerant and double-face is exposed more and more.
They can playact at being reasonable (as they burrow like termites into the oak of liberty), but their hearts are rotten with unreason. As all Absolutist dogmas must be.
To quote a reflective thinker:
"Sometimes I have believed six impossible things before breakfast."
But belief is a fatal foundation for a future.
And one that always wants to cut off any heads that continue to speak after they call for Holy Silence.
And especially when they laugh:
Islam is lame.
