More anti-terror follies. From the New York Times, with thanks to EPG:
WASHINGTON, March 7 - Dozens of terror suspects on federal watch lists were allowed to buy firearms legally in the United States last year, according to a Congressional investigation that points up major vulnerabilities in federal gun laws.People suspected of being members of a terrorist group are not automatically barred from legally buying a gun, and the investigation, conducted by the Government Accountability Office, indicated that people with clear links to terrorist groups had regularly taken advantage of this gap.
Terrorists buying Firearms??
Sounds like a slippery slope towards a more restrictive fire-arm sales on the average Joe Public. Why? Reading the content of the article the central theme is the FBI's complaint that they're hamstrung by cumbersome "privacy laws", suggesting that if they had better legislation, they could assure that 'terrorists' could not buy weapons.
I'm quite bothered by the lack of definition of the word 'terrorist'. In my thinking, a terrorist is any conservative: anti-abortionist, NRA member, etc - so, I'm now a terrorist!
Oh yeah, lets not forget to include the token 'jihadists' for the make-me-feel-safer effect. Frankly, I'm pretty sure the average Al-Queda sleeper isnt applying for a firearm permit. Why expose yourself when its so much more efficient to strap a bomb on your back and blow kindergartners to bits?
So, no, I dont think Islamikazie 'terrorists' are buying shotguns at their local Walmarts. I think the FBI is simply trying to sway public opinion.
Besides, if the FBI was really doing their job, the people on the "Watch List" would be deported, not applying for fire-arm permits!
Nonsense.
These are not "vulnerabilities in federal gun laws".
The leftist New York Times and the rest of the gun-grabbers will twist and exploit any situation in their quest to ensure the government's omnipotence, and make the country(and the world) safe for thugs and totalitarianism.
Why are these people(if immigrants) here in the first place? Why are they "suspected of terrorism", yet they are not charged?
What is a "terrorist group", and why is this group allowed to operate?
What does "innocent until proven guilty" mean?
What does due-process and reasonable cause mean?
If they are legal citizens, and they have not broken any disqualifying laws then they are entitled to exercise their Constitutional rights and the government should quit covering their ass by trying to ban guns-- they keep letting hard-core thugs loose on society, and import people of doubtful character/mental health, and then claim the "problem is guns". They ignore obvious foreign subversion, but zero in on guns.
If that is'nt sado-masochism being perpetrated on society I don't know what is.

Thanks for pointing out to me that the Chinese commonly use that "double happiness" symbol with reference to marriage as I was unaware of it. However, I don't see why I can't appropriate that symbolism for my own purposes. In any case, thank you for dispelling my ignorance.
Actually, since I am practically married to my library anyway, the symbolism makes a lot of sense.
See you Islamists; I am not an arrogant imbecile incapable of learning from other people nor understanding other cultures. On the contrary, perhaps I understand some cultures better than you would like.
My view of Islam and why I left it
Thu, 8 Feb 2001
My reason for leaving Islam is very simple. I simply read the Quran. For me it was as easy as just reading the Quran and using a little reason, logic, and thinking.
I thought the story of the Noah'a Ark that is recorded in the Quran is one of the most bizarre stories I have ever heard. Apparently the world was run over by water and the only survivors were the people who had followed Noah. Noah apparently had the ability to communicate with animals to ask them to come aboard the ship, so that their species do not extinct.
Back then the early Arabs looked around themselves and they saw a few camels and a couple of dogs and they thought that these are all the animals in the world. They were unaware of the fact that there are over a billions species in the world and some that haven't even been discovered yet. What about the animals that did not live in Arabia? Did Noah fly on a winged horse like Muhammad, to go and collect the animals from all around the world? What about the species that we are unable to see without a microscope? How did Noah collect them? Most importantly in the research of earth-biology we have discovered all the facts about the earth and its past. Can anyone find in any book of earth-biology any evidence that proves that the earth was once over taken by water?
This was enough for me to realize that the Quran is just a book of fables.
People will show you facts that according to the Quran the sun sets in a pond, or that mountains are pegs that Allah installed on the earth to keep it from moving and I can go on and on, but the only flaw of the Quran is not what is in it. The biggest flaw of the Quran is what is not in it. There are many many crimes a person can commit, yet the Quran only mentions the punishments for only a mere 3 or 4 crimes. I was astonished at the fact that the Quran mentions nothing about the punishment for rape. The word rape is not even mentioned once in the Quran as if it is not worth bringing it up. Apparently Allah thought that it is worthwhile to repeat praying and paying alms to his prophet, over 1000 times but rape is not worth mentioning. When you read the Hadithes about the obvious rape of Safiyah the Jewish women by Muhammad and then you back it up with the verse (Q. 4:24) and you also realize that this is not considered a crime according to the Quran, it all starts to fold together and make sense.
There are an unlimited number of acts of kindness that we can use to help each other and make this world a better place for everyone, yet you do not see these in the Quran. How can the Quran be a perfect guidance from god when it lacks so many important issues?
What I have done for the last six months on the internet is debate with Muslims and try to show them the light of truth.
When you debate with a Muslim and they don't know what to say they always say "god is the author of the Quran because that's what it says in the Quran". It is absurd to prove something by itself. Sometimes when I hear these responses I feel like giving up on exposing the truth about Islam and religion, but then I realize that I would be abandoning my dear friends like Dr. Ali Sina and the many people who have given their lives for the truth.

Jihad in Canada; Mosques being monitored by agency - say it isn't so. Those darn Kafir!
http://www.thestar.com/NASApp/cs/ContentServer?pagename=thestar/Layout/Article_PrintFriendly&c=Article&cid=1110235812636&call_pageid=968332188492
CSIS chief links immigrant to Al Qaeda
Mosques being monitored by agency
Two top officials speak to senators
TONDA MACCHARLES
OTTAWA BUREAU
OTTAWA—A Canadian landed immigrant is a key commander affiliated with Al Qaeda in Iraq, a top CSIS official says.
CSIS director Jim Judd told a Senate committee yesterday "the ranks of trained terrorist fighters in Iraq are bolstered by individuals from around the world, including from Europe and Canada."
Judd told the committee: "For example, a Canadian citizen is believed to be a member of a group affiliated with Al Qaeda and Abdul Jabbar, a landed immigrant, is believed to be a key commander and ideologue with that same organization in Iraq."
Judd gave no further details.
CSIS operations director Dale Neufeld, the former interim director of the Canadian Security Intelligence Service and now second-in-charge, did say the agency is monitoring mosques in Canada that it suspects are raising funds for terrorist activities and recruiting terrorist sympathizers.
Under questioning by senators reviewing Canada's anti-terror laws, Neufeld corrected the new boss, who denied knowledge of suspicious mosques in Canada.
Asked by Liberal Senator David Smith whether Canada has seen a repeat of the British experience where mosques are viewed as recruiting venues for sympathizers to go conduct terrorist activities in Iraq, Judd replied, "I know of nothing personally."
That prompted Neufeld, who was interim head of CSIS until Judd's November appointment, to intervene with a stunning admission.
"There certainly are mosques in this country — again I wouldn't say they're representative of the Muslim faith — but there are a couple that we believe have that role of facilitating fundraising and perhaps talent-spotting individuals to go for training."
Neufeld was not pressed further by Smith, nor did he offer further details.
Following his opening remarks, Judd went on to outline an emerging and "surprising" threat from "second-generation Canadians" who sympathize with "homeland" causes and are getting caught up in terrorist activities.
He said "the type of persons attracted to terrorist networks is changing in worrisome ways."
That prompted Senator Mobina Jaffer to chide him not to look "at second generation as homeland people or from immigrant communities because we are not.
"My children are not immigrants; they were born in this country. Bill C36 has already started creating an us-and-them, and that is a concern to me."
The appearance of Canada's two top spymasters yesterday revealed several other aspects of CSIS activities:
Judd said Canada's spy agency has never exported or aided another country to ship abroad suspected terrorists for tough interrogations or torture.
Judd said CSIS has "neither" directly nor indirectly been involved in the controversial practice known as "extraordinary rendition" — a practice in the United States first revealed by The Washington Post.
It involves the deportation of suspected terrorists to countries such as Syria, Jordan, Egypt and Morocco that have little regard for human rights abuses during police interrogations.
"Not to my knowledge," said Judd, the consummately discreet senior bureaucrat who took over as CSIS director last November. Judd later clarified the agency has never in its "history" been involved, not just during his brief three-month tenure.
Judd denied CSIS had any role in the decision by the United States to deport Maher Arar, a Syrian-born Canadian citizen, to his native country where Arar says he was tortured.
But in doing so, he acknowledged there was communication "after" that deportation occurred.
He revealed the service is actively considering whether to recommend the Tamil Tigers be blacklisted as a terrorist organization, but admitted the government does not want to adversely affect the peace process in Sri Lanka.
He disclosed that the intelligence agency's internal list of terror or espionage suspects contains a list of individuals "in the triple digits," although he would not say if it was closer to one thousand or one hundred names.
He revealed that, despite passage of a law last year in response to "urgent" appeals for access to more airline passenger information, CSIS has not yet begun to use airline information to try to cross-reference it and identify terrorist suspects. The explanation?
The "technical" aspects of the computer system that would do the work have not been finalized, and "privacy concerns."
Judd said he "personally" is interested in doing more work on "community relations" than has "been done in the past."
Judd outlined a spy service struggling to stay on top of the moving target that are modern terrorist networks, and to cope with public pressure.
The mosques that are "facilitating fundraising and perhaps talent-spotting individuals to go for training" are not "representative of the Muslim faith". LOL. Well, what the heck are they representative of - the Mormon faith, Bhuddism, Shintoism, Confucianism? Oh, I got it - they are Presbyterians in disguise! Man, we are never gonna win this war with these kinds of idiots at the helm.
OT. Last night, in Rabin Square, Tel Aviv, thousands of young Israeli gathered for the world's largest pillow fight. Somehow, I cannot imagine the youth of any Muslim country indulging their high spirits by whacking each other with pillows. It seems too civilized, too pointless, and much too much fun.
Paolo, the difference is the Israeli kids take joy in being alive. The muslim counterparts would be carrying AK47s and hoping for a grisly death. What a difference! I am beginning to believe that the only joy muslims take is in "car-swarms", you know... when a car bomber blows to smithereens, and the swarm comes to grab body parts.
Thank you, Charleton Heston.
I'm quite bothered by the lack of definition of the word 'terrorist'. In my thinking, a terrorist is any conservative: anti-abortionist, NRA member, etc - so, I'm now a terrorist!
Terrorist: one that causes terror.
Today, most terrorists are people that strike those that "resemble" the people they hate. Since no one knows who's next, everyone should "feel terrorized."
I recently purchased a Keltec .38, and had to go through the 3-day background check. It was no big deal, and it's prevented 10,000 felons from buying a gun.
So what's all this crap about "gun grabbers"? More anti-lib'rul whine?
Besides, if the FBI was really doing their job, the people on the "Watch List" would be deported, not applying for fire-arm permits!

Plane Forced to Land; Dirty Bomb Link Investigated
LAST UPDATE: 1/26/2005 5:59:09 AM
Posted By: Walker Robinson
Department of Homeland Security officials forced a small plane carrying four apparently illegal Chinese immigrants and a pilot identified as a Mexican national to land at an airport in San Antonio Monday night, officials said today. The immigrants were being held at Stinson Airfield shortly after federal agents forced their plane down.
Update: Four Chinese Nationals Not Linked to Terrorism
Authorities are trying to determine if the four pasengers on board the Cessna 172-P, two men and two women, are linked to a report that several Chinese nationals were attempting to set off a 'dirty bomb' in the Boston area.
Online records of the Federal Aviation Administration show the 20-year-old plane is co-owned by Afzal Hameed of Dover, Del. The other co-owner is listed as Alyce S. Taylor, but no address is given for her. The FAA records state that the plane's last three-year registration was filed in 1999, and that the agency received no response in 2002 after mailing new registration forms to Hameed.
San Antonio Police surrounded the airport close to 9 p.m. Monday after receiving a call for help from the Department of Homeland Security, officials said. The single-engine plane was intercepted after officials said it was flying in American airspace illegally.
"Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials will hold these people and will determine what their status will be," San Antonio police Captain Jeff Humphrey told 1200 WOAI news.
Humphrey said it appears to be an 'alleged smuggling case.'
Officials say the pilot of the plane told investigators that he had taken off from 'south of the border,' but Humphrey said he could not say any more. He said he didn't know where they were heading.
A federal government source who asked not to be identified told 1200 WOAI news a preliminary search of the terrorist data base did not indicate that any of the four passengers were on it.
Humphrey said its undetermined right now whether the four people on board were related to the hint of a dirty bomb plot' in Boston.
"I've been looking at the pictures (of the Boston suspects) on the TV like everybody else, and I did not recognize anything that would make me think that there was a connection," Humphrey said.
He said Department of Homeland Security was also questioning the pilot. No word on his identity.
A man suspected of telling authorities about the possible terror threat in Boston has been detained in a Mexican border town and was being questioned about last week's tip and his motivation for calling it in, FBI officials said. Jose Ernesto Beltran Quinones was taken into custody Monday in Mexicali by Mexican state judicial police, Dan Dzwilewski, special agent in charge of the FBI's San Diego division, told the San Diego Union-Tribune.
Quinones, one of the 16 people sought for questioning last week about the alleged terror plot, was being questioned on behalf of the FBI, special agent Kiffa Shirley told The Associated Press.
"The first area of concern for the FBI is to resolve any pending national security threat issues, and that issue being the statement that was made that nuclear material was being brought into the United States," Dzwilewski said. "We're working with Mexican authorities trying to resolve that question."
Shirley said late Monday he did not know Quinones' nationality, age or occupation, or where he was being questioned.
Officials have stressed since news of the tip first broke that they doubted the credibility of the terror claims. A leading theory was that a smuggler tipped authorities to a false terror plot to exact revenge on a group of Chinese immigrants, perhaps because members failed to pay.
The tipster claimed that members of the group had talked about material supposedly called "nuclear oxide" that would follow them from Mexico to Boston. The implication was that the group was plotting to detonate a radioactive "dirty bomb" that spews hazardous material and can sicken or kill people.
No evidence has been found for such a plot. Still, authorities stepped up security in Boston, and Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney skipped President Bush's inauguration in Washington.
Dzwilewski said the United States would like to extradite Quinones, who Shirley said was being interviewed as part of a joint investigation by the FBI and Mexican authorities.
"We're so pleased with the extraordinary cooperation of Mexican authorities," Shirley said.
Over the weekend, the FBI said another person who had been wanted for questioning in relation to the alleged plot had been in federal custody for more than two months and has no terrorist connections. She was identified as Mei Xia Dong, 21, of China.

EXCLUSIVE: MORE ABOUT THAT VERY CURIOUS PLANE
BY MICHELLE MALKIN • JANUARY 25, 2005 10:44 AM
In response to my post about the plane of suspected illegal alien Chinese in San Antonio forced down by homeland security officials last night, this tip just came in:
The co-owner of the plane, Afzal Hameed, is president of Alpha Tango Flying Services in San Antonio, which trains pilots and mechanics.
Guess who trained at Alpha Tango Flying Services--which, by the way, caters to Saudi Arabian flight students(!!!!):
Among their clients were three Arab flight students investigated by the FBI, including Al Qaeda operative Abdul Hakim Murad , who was arrested in Manila in 1995 and later convicted in New York of plotting to blow up a dozen U.S. airliners over the Pacific, then crash a suicide plane into CIA headquarters.
The FBI has been keeping tabs on Alpha Tango since Sept. 11. So, now, a plane co-owned by Alpha Tango's president, who is incommunicado, has been forced down with a planeful of Chinese illegal aliens in the wake of a terror alert involving Chinese illegal aliens.
Curiouser and curiouser.
Update: A little more info about plane owners Afzal Hameed and Alyce Taylor comes from Martin at National Terror Alert. They have been married since 1980 according to Texas public records. FYI, marriage fraud/immigration scams are common among terrorist operatives.
Update II: If you can read Dutch, can you check this out and let us know what it says?
Also, if anyone is familiar with the San Antonio 99s, drop me a line. Reader Chris Powell notes:
seams that we have left these loop holes too??

"Handgun Control Incorporated"-- 5 year plan(excerpt)
"After the meeting, the following ideas were the result of a
brainstorming session to guide the focus of gun control initiatives
over the next five years. These may not be politically feasible
ideas for 1994, but we are confident that with continued pressure we
can achieve most if not all of these goals within the next five
years. The following list is condensed from our meeting in which
we considered the best ideas for public safety expansion. The time
is right for action..."
"...The total Elimination of arms from Society
We cannot survive into the 21st century unless we remember the need
to expand our wave to new thinking to the total disarmament of
America. With much of the public disarmed we can become more like
Great Britain, where we can also eliminate the need for much of our
police to be armed. This would take a long time, however, a
concerted public relations campaign can pressure local law
enforcement to give up their arms, when the time comes. Weapons,
would be still available to special units like SWAT or the military."
Good post Kentim. The left is unravelled. People finally see what's best for them and it's not liberism or wacked out Democrats like Fienstien your piece mentioned. That old ideolgy is fading out of sight. No more lies from the MSN are going to pull the wool over voters eyes ever again.

Terrorist: one that causes terror - kj
Can’t argue with that brilliant observation.
Today, most terrorists are people that strike those that "resemble" the people they hate. Since no one knows who's next, everyone should "feel terrorized." - kj
Do you feel terrorized, kj? Should everyone feel terrorized? I believe the good people of the world are getting angry not terrorized. Maybe you should grab your March issue of the New Republic and go to a liberal new world order demonstration. Just be careful not to shoot any of your comrades.
I recently purchased a Keltec .38, and had to go through the 3-day background check.- kj
Probably the smartest thing you have ever posted.
It was no big deal, and it's prevented 10,000 felons from buying a gun. - kj
Not one of the smartest things you ever posted. Where did you get this “fact”? Thanks to Democrat lawmakers, felons or any criminal can easily aquire guns and not pay near as much for them as honest citizens have to. Anyway, buy as many more guns and ammo as you can.
So what's all this crap about "gun grabbers"? More anti-lib'rul whine? -kj
Whoa, hold on there cowboy, don’t get to carried away, it's only a little .38.
The solution is pretty simple, let them buy as many guns as they want......just don't sell them any bullets. But really, this is the least of our worries, granted it shouldn't have happened in the first place, if they want guns they will get them one way or another. The terrorists have been here for years and already have their stockpiles. Leave it to us to close the barn door after the horse escapes.
So what's all this crap about "gun grabbers"? More anti-lib'rul whine? -kj
Whoa, hold on there cowboy, don’t get to carried away, it's only a little .38.

You clowns had best get your priorities straight.
The west (secular, Jewish and Christian) is in the fight of it's life against Islamofascists, and all most of you clowns can muster is to rant and taut your bete noire - "the left" (whatever that is, whatever the word symbolizes to you).
Know what I think. I think that despite 9-11,and news reports the threat of Islamofascism is too remote, too distant and that you clowns (like Gary and Catherine the Squirrel.. that's right she's the squirrel not the hunter), just use Jihad Watch as a bandstand to advance your own narrow agenda, and in the process make a conscious choice to demonize and make enemies of erstwhile allies.
Focus on the Islamofascists and the idiots who support them, like for instance orthodox presbyterians, you know the congregation that just boycotted Israel, or the Catholic Church whose Pope kisses the Koran.
Or the Southern Baptists who just love Dubya, who just happens to be friends and business partners with the Saudis.
Maybe you clowns should spend less time on the addiction, called the internet and more time reading.
Besides Roberts books, I've read Maxime Rodison's, Sandra Mackey's, Yitzak Nakash's, even As'ad Abukhalil and Dilip Hiro, just finished Sword of the Prophet by Trifkovic, The Quest for Historical Muhammad by ibn Warraq, and just started Jihad (in the west) by Paul Fregosi, then on to Islam and Dhimmitude and Eurabia by Bat Ye'or, The origins of the Koran by ibn Warrag, What the Koran really says by Warrag, Al Qaidas Jihad in Europe by Kohlmann. And that is besides supplementary reading of The Qur'an (by both George Sales, 18th Century and Ahmed Ali).
I own it, I'm an Islamophobe, and it is all the fault of Islam, their holy books, ideology and practises, but I'm also a damn atheist, a secularist, a "liberuhl", but sometimes conservative, but never leftist or rightist.
Although I will say this, when I compare the ideology of Orthodox Christianity, aka Southern Baptists (which by the way I was one once), and Dominon Theology with that of, for instance, Iran.
I see no substantial difference, from a civil liberty, freedom of speech and choice, point of view between the designs of Christians with theocratic self righteous anti woman, anti abortion, anti gay point of view and that of the Mullahcracy or even the Saudis. None at all.
The theology and eschataological stuff is of no consequence or import to a true infidel, kafir, free thinker, heretic.
Psst, you homophobes would be in ejaculatory heaven in Iran, a quick google and they have executed some 400 homosexuals in the last few years, and they know how to control their women, them Muslims do, no pesky feminazis's in Islam are there? Iran is a family value paradise. LOL.

Reading books without applying the knowledge you gain from them doesn't accomplish much in the fight against the jihadists. The internet is a medium that reaches many people; you can spread what you learn from the books with it. The islamofascists use the internet to disarm us by allaying our fears of their ideology with soothing dissimulations. They also use it to organize and rally their base.
You may not realize it, but by attacking those of a different bent from yours, you are adding to the intramural squabble, not defusing it. If the enemy wins, we will all be either dead, mohammedans, or dhimmis. Whether we once were Left and Right will make no difference to the conquerors: to them, a kufar is a kufar.
