BANGKOK, Thailand (AP) - Evidence is mounting that foreign terrorists have provided funds and advice to Islamic rebels in Thailand's south, terrorism experts and a military officer said Monday, despite the government maintaining that the violence is the work of local separatists.The issue over whether foreign terror groups are involved in the rebellion, which has left 700 dead since early last year, has gained attention recently by Thailand's media and experts as violence mounts in the country's three predominantly Muslim provinces bordering Malaysia.
Vitaya Visetrat, a Muslim academic, said it was clear that those who set off a car bomb in the south last month were either schooled or assisted by international terrorists.
Unlike some in the West who persist in their folly, the Thai government and the people of Thailand are not worrying over "why do they hate us" and "what is is about our foreign policy that we need to change." They know why Muslims are killing Buddhists in southern Thailand. They are doing it for the same reason Muslims are killing Christians in the Sudan and in the Moluccas and in Pakistan and in Lebanon and in Iraq and in Nigeria and in a hundred other places, for the same reason Muslims are killing Hindus in Bangladesh and Pakistan and Indonesia, for the same reason Muslims are killing Jews not only in Israel, but everywhere some Muslim takes it upon himself, at an airline terminal in Los Angeles, on a bridge in New York, on a street in Antwerp or Toronto, in an apartment building or a store in Paris, to put into practice what Islam inculcates, and not only in the textbooks of "Wahhabist extremists."

However, it is typical of the desperate lack of creativity and professional skill that they had to farm out the artwork to the US and Brazil - neither country very close to the Middle East.
Thailand is the best example when it comes to Islamic Infiltration and propaganda.
There was always a minority of Muslims in the south bordering Malaysia, but they were still happy to be Thais and nobody wore a veil until about the mid- eighties. It was then that many from the poor South went to work in Saudi Arabia or other Gulf states and while there, became really all fired up and indoctrinated with 'the faith'.They returned to Thailand with money and support from SA and started up mosques and Madrassas.
Earlier you had the oilshock (when prices doubled and tripled, filling the coffers of SA just like now) and thousands of kaftan-wearing, Syphilis-ridden desert dwellers came to Bangkok and Pattaya to take advantage of prostitution. Child prostitution (including many young boys) became endemic.
The spread of Mosques, the veil and the madrassas goes hand in hand with the violence, the sedition, the hatred and the sinister cult that Islam is.

The media had not been kind to Fawaz Damra, the imam at the Islamic Center of Cleveland. The Wall Street Journal questioned why he and other Muslim clerics did not denounce terrorism. The NBC Dateline program on October 28 raised the same question, as did a feature article by the Associated Press, showing Damra in front of the Islamic Center.
Then on November 4, The Plain Dealer (Cleveland, Ohio) revealed that the Al Farooq mosque in Brooklyn, New York, had sponsored the Alki Fah Refugee Center. The Center collected money to send to Peshawar, Pakistan, in support of Afghan chieftains, including Osama bin Laden, who were fighting the invading Russians. After the Russian defeat in 1989, the Refugee Center helped fund terrorism against Israel.
WAR or PEACE?
To be fair, the question should be “Are Muslims militant or peace-loving?” and the answer, of course, is: “It depends on the Muslim.” In the Qur’an there are 192 references to God’s compassion and mercy and only 17 references to God’s wrath and vengeance, so if Muslims mean to surrender to God (which is literally what “Islam” means) then there should be no question which one wins. The Qur’an does not counsel turning the other cheek, however, and it allows punishment of wrongdoers to the full extent of the injury they impart. Still, the idea is one of justice and not aggression. “Defend yourself against your enemies but do not attack them first; God hates the aggressor” (2:190). Furthermore, “Let there be no compulsion in religion” (2:257).

Palestinian worshippers at mosques in Gaza yesterday handed over cash and jewelry to armed and masked members of the terrorist group Hamas, which is raising money as the U.S. tries to cut off its supply of funds.
Reuters said the first-of-its-kind campaign is a sign Hamas's militant wing, Izz el-Deen al-Qassam, is feeling the effects of pressure to freeze its bank accounts and shut down the Muslim charities that fuel its terrorist activities.
Suicide bombings by Hamas members have killed hundreds of Israelis.

2003-DEC-2: Muslim groups in U.S. announces lawsuit against congressperson: The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) announced that they had filed a lawsuit against Representative Cass Ballenger (R-NC). He was reported in the media as claiming that the stress of living near CAIR in Washington, D.C., caused the breakup of his marriage. He is reported as saying that that his home's proximity to CAIR "bugged the hell" out of his wife who allegedly objected to women "wearing hoods" entering and leaving the CAIR building. The latter is an apparent reference to the wearing of a hijab by some observant Muslim women. He allegedly claimed that CAIR raised funds for terrorists. The lawsuit claims that this alleged accusation was made "with actual malice, wrongful and willful intent to injure, and with reckless disregard for its truth or falsity."
Arsalan Iftikhar, CAIR's director of legal affairs, said: "With this lawsuit, we are sending a clear message to all those who make malicious and defamatory statements against American Muslims or their institutions that they will be held accountable in a court of law."

I expect the Italian government is between a rock and a hard place. Unlike some other "coalition members" Italy wholeheartedly supports the War on Terror, but the Italian public does not. Hence, they have coughed up ransom money.
It is very unfortunate that the Italian officer was, presumably misstakenly killed by US troups as this only compromises Berlusconi's position even more.

Chinese Bus Runs Off Cliff, Kills 22

BEIJING — A bus in southern China (search) carrying a group celebrating International Women's Day (search) ran off a cliff, killing at least 22 people and injuring 22 others, the government said Tuesday.
Forty-four people were aboard the bus travelling along a narrow road near the city of Jiujiang in Jiangxi province when the accident occurred Monday afternoon, the official Xinhua News Agency said.
An earlier Xinhua report had put the number of people on the bus at 42, but a later story said investigators had changed the figure.
The passengers were from a local insurance company who were celebrating Tuesday's International Women's Day, it said.
The cause of the accident was under investigation.
Crashes caused by reckless driving, poor road conditions and overloaded vehicles are reported almost daily in China, where a rising number of people own cars due to the country's economic boom.
More than 107,000 people were killed in road accidents in China last year

My wife is from Thailand and I asked her if she wasn't afraid of the muslims and she said no, that they start something every few years because they want the southern part as their own and this has been going on for awhile now. And so far have been successful at putting it down.
For how long, I'm starting to have my doubts.
Terminator: Actually, the Muslim south of Thailand long had a number of simmering separatist movements. They went away between the late 1970's and 1990's because Thailand and Malaysia were Cold War allies fighting a common Communist enemy; and during that time agreed to not pursue irredentist claims against each other (Perlis, Keda, Trengganu were once ruled from Bangkok, before "perfidious Albion" came along). The two states also made it a point to treat the respective minorities nicely (there are a few Thai-speaking Thorawadi Buddhist villages on the Malaysian side of the frontier).
Also, the Thai government is fully aware that not all of its Muslim minority supports southern separatism.

That easy -going- thing is gone! Just like in Indonesia: 35 years ago I travelled through Java with a couple of Swiss guys and everywhere we went we had a ball! Everwhere the girls were yelling and waving at us and giving us fruits (Mangosteen and stuff) NOBODY wore a veil!
Now you can't feel safe anywhere, not even in Bali.
And in Pukhet (my last trip 2 years ago) you see the mosques everywhere, you hear the cacophony of loudspeakers and the Allahu Akhbar- shit all over the place, and women in 30 C heat wearing a veil: Sick!
And the men look like they hate you! Of course they do, because they are Islamic!
