Abbas: Hamas and Jihad are my brethren

Just in case anyone still isn't sure about Mahmoud Abbas' attachment to the jihad ideology -- that justifies wanton murder of innocents and will brook no peaceful coexistence. From the Jerusalem Newswire, with thanks to the Constantinopolitan Irredentist:

JERUSALEM - Far from being enemies of peace and cold-blooded murderers of men, women and children, PLO chief Mahmoud Abbas said the Hamas and Islamic Jihad terrorist organizations were his brethren.

"We're continually in contact with our brethren in the Jihad movement and the Islamic resistance movement [Hamas], along with other [terror groups]," Abbas told reporters Sunday following a meeting of the PLO's executive committee in Gaza City.

Both Hamas and Islamic Jihad were invited to attend the meeting. Hamas declined, but Islamic Jihad leader Mohammed Al-Hindi was in attendance.

Over the past week, Abbas has increased efforts to convince Hamas and Islamic Jihad to officially join the PLO in order to deflect pressure to dismantle the groups.

The 1974 Phased Plan seems to fool the mainstream media about 100% of the time. Even statements like this one won't prevent Frontline (PBS) - a show I once respected - from running anti-Jewish screeds as investigative journalism.

NOTE THE ADMISSION:

“We're continually in contact with our brethren in the Jihad movement and the Islamic resistance movement [Hamas], along with other [terror groups],"

This debunks most mainstream media reports over the last couple decades, straight from Abbas's mouth.

Of course Abbas, who was Arafat's loyal aide for decades, is in up to his neck in terrorism. Of course he simply wants to pocket the remaining bits of Gaza that the Israelis developed, and to keep demanding, and demanding. There is no end to this. The only difference between Arafat and Abbas is that Abbas is -- apparently, given the wilful desire to believe in him by many who really should know, and one suspects do know, better -- a more successful Arafat trying to get everything he can (including American and European aid on top of the billions that mysteriously seem unretrievable -- not that any American or European government has demanded such retrieval -- after Arafat's death.

The solemn discussions of what Abbas is "really" like or that decide he is a "pragmatist" are both silly and beside the point. Supppose it were not Abbas, but someone who really wanted peace, and really had no intention of asking for more, more, more, until Jerusalem is left -- and then all negotiations will be cut off, all smiles and displays of phony sweet reason abandoned (oh, and the American govenment will be shocked and disappointed but really, the Israelis should have compromised on the Old City, and who can blame the brave "Palestinian" leadership for...etc.).

It would not matter. Israel is an Infidel state. It has no right to exist, for no Infidel state has, in the end, a right to exist. But of course what makes it doubly bad is that it is in the midst of dar al-Islam, is controlled by the formerly despised "Yahudim," and ought, by all the laws of Allah, to be unable to withstand the relentless Jihad that has been conducted against the Jewish settlers before the Mandate for Palestine was created, during the period of the Mandate, during the period of Israel's early, almost snuffed-out existence (when not a single Israeli was in Gaza or what the Jordanians began to call, and the amnesiac world along with them, "the West Bank"), and now, and into the future.

The Europeans are sinister, for their rulers, and their press, have been completely persuaded, both out of the desire to "recycle petrodollars" (as one may demurely put the large-scale bribery of both contracts and outright, old-fashioned direct payments to politicians and diplomats and journalists by vast Arab networks), to abandon Israel. In America it is a bit more complicated. The dreamy American belief that everything is a "problem" and that, therefore, everything has a "solution," is false in the case of Islam. There is no "solution" to hostility based on Islam -- for Islam will not disappear.

What one can do is never give in to the demands prompted by the hostility and aggression of Islam. Never. For Muslim psychology does not admit of compromise with the Infidel enemy. Muhammad did not compromise, but only signed a temporary treaty (Al-Hudaibiyya) with the Meccans in order, when the time was ripe, to attack and defeat them. That is the essential and immutable principle of all treaties with Infidel states. Does Condoleeza Rice know about the Treaty of al-Hudaibiyya? Does George Bush? Does anyone in Washington? Did anyone ever explain that to Dennis Ross, whose entire career has been based on a complete ignorance of Islam? To Bill Clinton, host to Arafat on so many occasions? Is it beyond the wit of everyone in the whole wide world -- oh, and that includes Ariel Sharon, nearly demented in his pathetic certainty that he can do other, because he lacks the intelligence, the cunning, the energy, at this point to do anything other than what he is doing, which is beyond parody -- to figure out what Islam teaches its Believers, and what has prompted them to behave in absolutely predictable and similar ways, from Spain to the East Indies, over 1350 years, whenever they had the strength to act on their promptings.

What does this mean? It means stop bothering with Abbas. It means figure out that any further Israeli surrender of land or anything else will only whet, not sate, Muslim appetites. It means coming to understand the way in which Arab and Muslim propaganda has cleverly played on the Arab hostility to Israel to deflect attention from the much larger question of Muslim aggresion -- and not merely by terrorism, attention to which is simply now getting in the way of attention to all the other instruments of Jihad (why do we not have, why have we not had for decades a government policy designed to diminish OPEC oil revenues, revenues that those who understood Islam could have predicted would be used to buy arms, and to fund mosques and madrasas all over the world, and to bribe a sufficient number of the ruling elites in all Western countries so as to prevent any intelligent response to what is staring the Western world in the face -- i.e., its own islamization, and the islamization of outlying parts, such as Latin America and black AFrica, where the local cultures are not strong enough (as they seem strong enough in East Asia) to withstand the siren-song of armies of Muslims conducting Da'wa.

Abbas is trivial, except insofar as the Western desire, in the press and in government circles, to believe that

1) there is a "solution" to the Arab Jihad against Israel -- because of course it is never called a Jihad, and every bit of historical evidence that demonstrates that it is that, indeed a classic example using all the instruments of Jihad that the larger world also faces, but fails to recognize because it is failing, and wants to fail, to recognize that what Israel faces is that Jihad.

and

2)that the "solution" means to create, and prop up, a "Palestinian" state that, it is believed, will somehow put aside its hostility to Israel. Oh, it well might -- for a year or two or three, as the battered regime accepts (not gratefully, but demandingly, whiningly) jizya foreign aid from the Western world (apparently the Saudis, Kuwaits, U.A.E. are simply down on their luck, and don't have a dime to spare, unlike those Infidel governments that have been giving such copious amounts of aid to any Arab or Muslim state or group -- Egypt, Pakistan, the P.A. -- that had the misfortune not to sit on deposits of oil and gas. Allah supplies many of the with unearned wealth; with the others, America and Europe are now in the position of permanently taking up the slack with the disguised jizyah of what appears to be permanent foreign aid to people who hate us, and will continue to hate us and wish us ill, no matter what we do, for all time.

The folly here -- a folly to be observed as well in the failure to see the need, at once, to take the hundreds of billions now being spent as the Iraqis dither, and dither, and dither -- and to put that money into nuclear, solar, wind energy, into subsidizing rather than destroying our train system, into subsidizing subway and bus systems (for god's sake, make them as close to free as possible, and get on with the business of diminishing the use of cars), tax gasoline and put special mileage-related taxes on those SUV lummoxes.

Un petit effort, s'il vous plait.

Hugh,

That's impressive logic. I wish someone in charge was listening. VDH summed it up nicely as well.

This scares me:

Does Condoleeza Rice know about the Treaty of al-Hudaibiyya? Does George Bush? Does anyone in Washington? Did anyone ever explain that to Dennis Ross, whose entire career has been based on a complete ignorance of Islam? To Bill Clinton, host to Arafat on so many occasions?

I'm almost certain an unqualified no answers all of the above. Look at the PC-FBI for an example of the institutional dhimmitude which permeates Washington.

What Hugh said is not only correct, but if anyone needs an example look to Lebannon a few years back. The SLA was recieving funding from Israel:Money, Weapons, Supplies. The leadership of the SLA said that they could hold out for a hundred years in Southern Lebannon if only someone would fund them. Israel on the other hand signed a peace treaty with the Islamic powers that required them to withhold their funding, which of course inevitabley lead to the destruction of the SLA, and the necessity of Israel to take in thousands of Christian Lebanese refuges so that they would not be killed by the Hizbollah backlash.

Of course it was not but a few months later that the attacks against Israel started again. Leaders of Hamas and an Ayatolla from Iran have all praised the Lebanese Muslims for their success in decieving the Jews, but also for completeing the conquest of Lebanon from it's "crusader" population or in other words it's native non-arab, non-muslim occupants. So in the end, all Israel got was the loss of it's only true ally in the Middle East, and the buffer zone that it had in the North, since all the Christian land is now occupied with artillery pointed and randomly fired at Israel. So you see for any thinking person one can make the judgement that no peace can be made with Muslims, because they will always bide their time and attack at the opportune moment.

Make no mistake, Muslim loyalty is to their religion and prophet. Hostility towards the Jews has very deep roots in the hearts of Muslims and the teaching of their religion. According to the Hadity, Muslims are required to kill every single Jew befor the day of judgement comes. Peace between Arabs and Jews would never and will never be achieved. All Muslims and Muslim states, including Egypt, are working very craftily to gain peace, as they claim. In fact they call it in Arabic "Hodnah" which means temporary peace. They follow the example of their prophet and the treety of Al-Hdaybiyah.
Abbas

Hugh-

I agree with all of your points but the need for nuclear power as an alternative energy souce, unless fusion is feasible, since the radioactive residue is now piling up at reactor sites and is being shunted around with no repository being politically feasible (see NIMBY Nevada) for the foreseeable future.

Biomass, geothermal, tidal, solar, wind, hydrogen, etc. could take up the nuke slack, and should be kick-started with a Manhattan Project type effort. To really get the technological breakthroughs that we need going, and bring their prices down to oil-competitive levels through new materials, methodologies and infra-insights.

We went from a ludicrous atomic pile under squash court bleachers to two A-bombs in 5 1/2 years when our backs were to the wall.

Somehow, the feeling of being 'up against it' is not yet in our national marrow.

Death, beyond a mere 3,000, seems to be the only prod that will get us out of this dither-rama.

Like a mule that will only move if you shoot it in the ass. (Cousin to Baalam's, I guess.)
