From Fox News, with thanks to Rebecca Bynum:
RAMALLAH, West Bank -- Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas ordered a crackdown on Ramallah militants early Thursday after a group of gunmen fired at his compound while he was inside, security officials said.
The group of 15 militants attacked the compound Wednesday before rampaging through the city, damaging several restaurants and forcing shops to close, witnesses and officials said. There were no injuries reported....
What should be expected from a guy who was Arafat's henchman for so many decades?
It's amazing how an attack on one's person can cause a change of heart...
Let's find out who they were and send them the latest new improved long-range scope and an accurate rifle, so they won't miss next time. Maybe the "authority" will flex authority against it's flock, which then can show the world they have the power to stifle themselves but nobody else, accept innocent victims that paid the ultimate price for the "Palestinian Authority."
I hope Abbas eats a poop sandwich for lunch followed by a glass of blood from his countrymen that continue to die for no reason other than his own stupidity and irrational ideological misconceptions. Target practice? Probably, but next time maybe not!................Hopefully! The turmoil continues...yada, yada, yada!
These are social behaviours that are typical of rival urban ghetto gangs, nothing more. While remnants of tribalism are found throughout the West, they do not represent the social construct with the highest order extant in the Western civilization. Throughout the Arab world there is little evidence that any construct higher than tribalism has evolved, nor that any economic institutions beyond those needed to enable common brigandry have ever taken root. As exotic foreign imports diffused throughout Europe during the Age of Discovery through the mechanisms of trade, that same diffusion in the Arab world took place through the ubiquitous process of plunder.
The heritage of the Western civilization includes Greek phiosophy, Roman law and republicanism, sovereignty of the people, freedom of conscience and expression through speech, visual and performing arts, critical reflection on religion, Ages of Discovery, Enlightenment, industrialization and globalization. In contrast, the heritage of the Palestinians include ascendancy of the shaman, tribal dictatorship, thought crimes and brutal repression of free expression, perpetual war, and poverty of the human spirit that is nonpareil in the world's history. So what is there to inspire the Palestinian people as they attempt to build their new nation?
If they don't come up with anything that will enable them to join the community of nations in peaceful cohabitation of the planet, let them then continue to be inspired by the IDF and let them reflect on the inspiration being delivered in person to their fellow jihadis in Iraq and Afghanistan by the USMC.
Necessity is the mother of invention. Abbas must have read that somewhere...
Mahmoud Abbas doesn't have blood of innocents on his hands -- he's drenched in it.
May his brains decorate the walls of his villa built on the skulls of the innocent.

PA security backs off on cracking down on gunmen
By ASSOCIATED PRESS
RAMALLAH, West Bank
Palestinian officials on Thursday backed away from a declaration that they would go after gunmen who shot up Mahmoud Abbas' office building and rampaged through Ramallah, underlining the difficulties authorities face in restoring order in the chaotic West Bank.
Abbas, who was in the building but was not hurt in the gunfire late Wednesday, ordered a crackdown, and security officials said the renegades had "crossed a red line" by attacking the seat of government. But in the light of day, the officials adopted a conciliatory line, and one admitted they feared coming under armed attack themselves.
In a compromise, the gunmen agreed to join their former units in the security forces.
Late Thursday, West Bank intelligence chief Tawfik Tirawi called Abbas and threatened to resign unless more is done to restore the rule of law, a senior Palestinian security official said.
Abbas has vowed to bring law and order to Palestinian areas and to reform his overlapping and corruption-plagued security forces.
Excellent post Hulegu Khan.
In a word Muhammadism reflects, and cannot escape from it's origins, as a bedouin tribal ideology, it's stuck in time for all time. As a Muslim scholar told me on another forum (he's a convert BTW) Shari'a is set in stone, and Shari'a is Islam.
