The Queen of Denmark speaks truth to power, as Shahid Alam or Omid Safi might say. "Danish Queen Says Tolerance of Muslims Has Limits," from Reuters, with thanks to Rant Wraith:
COPENHAGEN - Denmark's Queen Margrethe urged Muslim immigrants to learn Danish to help them feel more at home and said in an official biography published on Thursday society should show limited tolerance of radical Islam."We are being challenged by Islam these years. Globally as well as locally," said the 64-year-old queen, who was interviewed by journalist Annelise Bistrup for her book "Margrethe."
"We must take this challenge seriously. We have simply left it flapping around for far too long, because we are tolerant and rather lazy," she is quoted as saying.
About 8 percent of Denmark's 5.4 million people are immigrants -- about a third of those come from other European Union countries or North America and only 150,000 are Muslims....
But Denmark has cracked down on migration in the past three years and the anti-immigrant Danish People's Party, an ally of the center-right government, has pushed through laws making it harder to bring in foreign spouses or qualify for asylum.
The monarch said people who dedicated their lives to religion were fascinating and felt she had gained insight into Islam from her studies of archaeology.
She went on to say "there is also something frightening about such a totality which is also a part of Islam. A certain response must be shown and sometimes one must run the risk of being labeled in a less flattering way. Because there are certain things with which one should not be tolerant."
Danish Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen won a second term in February thanks to the popularity of new rules which have cut the number of asylum-seekers by 80 percent. Human rights organizations have criticized such measures.
On what grounds? What natural right does anyone have to seek asylum in Denmark? How many asylum seekers are trying to get into Saudi Arabia or Egypt?
Many newcomers to the Nordic country do not learn Danish and the unemployment rate among immigrants -- particularly from developing countries -- is still much higher than among Danes, as are crime rates."We could have handled this challenge a bit better, if we had realized what we were up against," Margrethe said....
We couldn't have said it better ourselves.
Marvellous!
Queen Liz...are you listening? maybe it'll take a li'l bit of straighttalking from you to get the debate started in Britain....
It's a paradox that sometimes monarchs can say things that politicians can't, for fear of losing votes.
PS I hope she increases her number of bodyguards.
"No one has the natural right to seek asylum in Denmark."
That is true.
This is a discussion about privileges, not rights. Alot of people, including some human rights organizations, are confusing the two.
Wish our Queen had half her brain (and/or) guts.
Learning Danish, French, or English is a step in the right direction as is learning how to assimilate into the host country by adopting a dress code and cultural niceties. But these are superficial that don't address the predatory nature of Islam that will engulf Denmark as it has all others that think that superficiality is all that it takes to make a citizen.
Forcing Muslims to learn Danish won't help Denmark with its Muslim problem; rounding them up and escorting them to the border will, but then, again, this will be an act of war against its neighbors.
epg, of course simply learning Danish isn't going to make muslims upstanding Danish citizens in and of itself, but it's an essential first step. So is this surprisingly frank admission from a monarch. Europe still has a few monarchs left, so let's hope this starts a trend! Spain, Holland, Norway, Britain...come on your majesties, speak up!
I was thinking about that border with the sea. Why not point them in that direction.
How do you say, "Long live the Queen!" in Danish?
"How do you say, "Long live the Queen!" in Danish?
"Dronningen længe leve"
"PS I hope she increases her number of bodyguards."
She won´t have to, she is not calling anyone goat fuckers and so many are on the trail of islam here anyways.
Besides that would be the last drop, and the excuse we are waiting for.

That the leading voices in the human rights issue, and even the leader and likely most staff of the official human rights center, are multiculturalists and believe we need immigrants in order to have enough citizens.
Humans rights is just a tool carving the way for this view.
Some people are born blind and will die blind.
The fact that many Europeans still retain their monarchy does little to suggest that the radical changes needed to combat Islamic ascendendcy will be implemented. The biggest problem is that the monarchies are tied with state religions and it is impossible to enforce a rigid public secularism (e.g. banning religious-based education) without deliberately targeting non-Christians.
I been waiting for reactions from the multicultural elite to this, but it appears they have decided to cover it with silence.
The multicultural foremost mouthpiece newspaper "politiken" does not mention it at all on their website.
The "public" tv channel (DR) (News 18.30 yesterday - fjordman) hunted quite fairly for it´s Center going straight left attitude does mention her new book and use 5 minutes on it - without as much as mentioning her opinions on islam with a word.
The most rightwing news paper - Jyllands Posten - Have been able to get the Danish convert and Iman Abdul Wahid Pedersen to make some tip toe comments on the issue, and another immigrant as well, the remarks are worthy of translation:

He agrees there is something frightening about the totality of religion then moves on to say:
"In all religious societies, we see frightening patterns of behaviour, by people becoming fanatics. In the USA a ultraradical christian right member, has just received a life sentence for blowing up abortion clinics. In Israel zionistic extremists by hook and crook want to force their way to the templemount to blow it up. And we have moslems smashing airplanes into skyscrapers".
And yes he said the whole of the temple mount, sound like a job for a technical advanced demolition squad.
But the most interesting is the last "moslems smashing airplanes into skyscrapers" you just smell that it is only a parantesis right ?
Another moslem, the spokesman for "moslems in dialogue", might be our version of CAIR, Zubair Butt Hussain, also support that should be a challenge towards islam, but he thinks the queen misunderstand, whether totality is a an aspect of islam.
"It isn´t, but there are people in all religions becoming totalitarian, and thus might act without decency, and against what the religion actually prescribe"

Aha you mean like when moslems attacks moslems inside the land of Dar-ul-islam ?
I see it the other way around moslems that do not attack infidels the way it is described act if not out of fear or comfort, out of decency. But what on earth are they doing in that religion then ?
Dronningen Laenge Leve!
Kali, Dennmark, with its state-supported Lutheran Church, had an almost society-wide conspiracy in WWII (embracing monarch, churchmen, and many others) to smuggle their Jews to Sweden. They managed to get the bulk out--the only occupied country to do so.
Something tells me that if you are some kind of non-Lutheran Christian, Hindu, Jew, Buddhist, or Daoist, resettle in Denmark, learn Danish, and respect their institutions they'll probably give you little trouble.
