She looks at the relationship between European and Arab countries since the mid-20th century and argues that Muslims living in Western Europe have significantly influenced their governments' attitudes toward Israel and other countries in the Middle East. During the talk, she also discusses why Turkey should not be allowed into the European Union and addresses the question of European anti-Semitism. Bat Ye'or answers questions from the audience following her remarks.
This is a great book - everyone in State concerned with Eurabia, from Condi on down, should read it.

Eurabia by Bat Ye'or is one of the best books I've
read this year. What a horror story, even though it's based on dry diplomatic documents.
Another book I recommend is A Man Called Intrepid.
It's about the secret civilian war of intelligence in World War II led by Bill Stephenson, Winston Churchill, Bill Donovan and Franklin Roosevelt. I wish all our government agencies, especially Homeland Security would read it and take notes. I've always thought that we won't win the war with the jihadis unless we civilians realize that our government can't (won't)protect us from this insidious enemy and it is up to us to take care of ourselves. How we do this will be a great test of our ingenuity and creativity.
I alternately wanted to weep and then scream and I listened. I see the signs all around us here in the U.S. as the same process is slowly beginning.
We must make a nuisance of ourselves to get across the concept of the historical force of jihad and its impact on the "lands of conquest" in Asia and Africa, and the present destruction of Europe. Woe to any culture and civilization that must fend off Islam.
Although off topic, there is a comparison with the pressures of Islam and that of illegal immigration by immigrant groups that don't want to assimilate. During discussion, a questioner compared the onslaught of Islam with the "invasion of Mexico and the Dominican Republic" on the U.S. Bat Yo'er answered in the following way -- Immigration is good as long as immigrants come with the understanding that they will integrate into the society and not with the idea that they are coming to destroy the host culture and society...
She also praised those Muslims that have integrated into European society and that want to modernize Islam. There are moderate Muslims, but extremists have always over run those that haven't accepted the extremist view.
Interesting how Ye’or pointed out how in circa 1975 that the United States warned European leaders not to agree to the Arab demands (the strings attached to oil sales) and to take a stand. To not agree to allow mass immigration of muslims in numbers so large that they would not be assimilated. To not agree to this as a requirement of the purchase of oil from Islamic countries. Needless to say, Europe ignored America’s advice and according to Bat, the muslim numbers have grown so large that it may be too late.
As dependants on islamic oil, European leaders have also agreed to the islamic leaders “strings” that islam must be taught in public schools and this logically extends to allowing virtually unhindered construction of mosques. In effect, to not have any resistance whatsoever to anything Islamic. This is the price Europe has paid for the oil not to mention the price paid in money as well. In effect, the European leaders were very bad negotiators who willingly sold out the native people in exchange for oil.
Also disturbing is the language that Arab nations are dictating to Europe about using “North and South” to describe Europe and Middle Eastern countries. The Islamic goals are clear and everything they do is calculated divide and separate Europe from America. Why do you think America had such little European support leading up to the Iraq invasion?
The left, those in charge of the press and the arts etc have been silenced. No mention of anything anti-Islamic. They can say anything anti-Semitic or anti-American they want though. These people are nailing the West’s coffins and through own with their PC’ness and liberalism and anti-Americanism. The uninformed masses are the gravediggers sleepwalking in the dark because of pressure from the muslims on the politicians and the press to keep quite. It seems the muslims have Europeon countries gripped in fear of terrorism if they try to extricate themselves from this situation they got themselves into. The laws, the left, the PC, the declining native births, the euro flight, the de-Christianization, the liberal mindset have all created an ideal petri-dish for Isalm to thrive. Changes need to occur ASAP.
Eurabia is definitely on my must-read list. But until then, what does she say about Europe's open doors to Muslim immigration? Surely that was more harmful than a diplomatic tilt toward Arab countries and related policy changes, short-sighted that they were.
