From the New York Times, with thanks to EPG:
Two 16-year-old girls from New York City were arrested last month and charged with immigration violations after the F.B.I. asserted that they intended to become suicide bombers, according to a government document. A spokesman for one of their families, however, said the accusation was false and said the government had probably misinterpreted a school essay written by one of the girls. The girls are both in the country illegally, one born in Guinea and the other from Bangladesh, and are being held in a family detention center in Leesport, in southeastern Pennsylvania, according to the document, provided by a federal agent. They were arrested on March 24, and one appeared at an immigration hearing on April 1 in York, Pa.
The document, which describes the background of the case, said the F.B.I. believed the girls presented "an imminent threat to the security of the United States based upon evidence that they plan to be suicide bombers." It does not describe the nature of that evidence.
But one federal official, not connected to the F.B.I., expressed skepticism that the teenagers represented a real risk of a suicide bombing....
Adem Carroll, a community activist with the Islamic Circle of North America who first approached this reporter about the case on behalf of one of the girls' parents, said the case appeared to be "an investigation that's gotten out of hand, like a lot of other so-called terror investigations." He added, "I'm confident that things will be cleared up."...
Police detectives, and then federal immigration agents, searched her belongings and confiscated her computer and the essays that she had written as part of a home schooling program, according to the family. One essay concerned suicide. The family maintained that the essay asserted that suicide is against Islamic law, but it led investigators to question her sharply about her political beliefs.
Detectives from the precinct went to the girl's home to question her about two weeks before her arrest, Mr. Carroll said, asking about her absence from a public high school since September. The mother said her daughter would be schooled at home and was seeking a high school equivalency degree because of conflicts between her Islamic dress code - a full veil - and the school's dress code....
Last night, a 20-year-old woman friend of the Bangladeshi teenager said she had known the young woman for three years and was close to her. Told of the allegations, she responded in disbelief, "That's crazy."
Why, of course it is.
More nonsense from this family...
Islamic Circle of North America, hmmmmmmm, family's opinion of this rat's essay doesn't jive with the opinion of law enforcement.
The girl was kept home for schooling because the school district doesn't allow for islamic dress? An absolute lie...her area high school is Martin Van Buren, a NYC public High School. There is no provision against islamic headgear and this family knows it. The girls father was previously detained on illegal immigration charges as well. Put this lawbreaking group back on a slow boat to Bangladesh...
Seems like the opiate of Islam got into these kids heads. Maybe they did a literal interpretive reading of the Koran behind the garden shed. Did they overdose? Once hooked will they ever be the same again? Rehabilitation could be notoriously difficult if not impossible.
"Adem Carroll...activist...Islamic Circle...said the case appeared to be "an investigation that's gotten out of hand, like a lot of other so-called terror investigations."
Islamists always toss in a spin-doctoring twist of propaganda for good measure.
"a full veil" oh, you mean a full DISGUISE.
P.S. Islam does not assimilate into other societies.
Just trust me said the lion to the sheep.
Just a "small" "minority" of extremists:
"Adherents of militant Islam account for some 15-20 percent of the Muslim world..."

Isn't it long past the time where we give any credence to the comments of Islamic family members of suspected terrorists? Their justifications are without merit and are a smokescreen for the vile deeds they plan. I have no doubt that the FBI rightfully detained these two jihadis. It's time to start sending them home!
It truly is only a matter of time. The big issue is how we respond when it does happen...

Just why are neither of these adolescents in the country legally? Are the parents here illegally too?
I'm sure that outside of their immigration status, these are otherwise peaceful, law-abiding aliens.
I cannot for the life of me understand why illegal aliens aren't just deported immediately upon discovery. If you're in this country illegally you are by definition a criminal. Expect to get locked up and given the boot A.S.A.P. no matter what or who you are.
Told of the allegations, she responded in disbelief, "That's crazy."
She has always been a good girl -- sensitive, hardworking, generous to family and friends. OK, so she occasionally disturbs the neighbors with shouts of "Allah Akhbar!" while slicing watermelons with her scimitar as well as having an unusual fashion sense -- trying on bulky vests under her burqa. But you know teenagers; I'm sure it's just a stage.
Very funny Chuck you going to be here all week?
why dont you people fill in your type key profiles?
It is so simple - if you are in this country illegally... you get deported! You have no rights- rights under the Constitution are for US CITIZENS. You have rights in YOUR country. Time for our authorities to grow a pair.
Hilarious, Chas. Quite liked that one.

For Pete's sake, I hope that the FBI has gotten it right this time. It seems like so many times they end up with egg on their faces. Of course, that throws more fuel on the fire that CAIR is constantly fanning about victimhood and persecution.
Paranoia at it's best...
Take that up with your President, he likes illegal aliens (they work cheaply) and he likes Muslims too.
In fact his new Ambassador to Iraq is an Afghani, and Muslims occupy high places and sensitive offices in his administration.
I amused that both muslims and conservatives believe, despite the evidence to the contrary, that Bush's war on terrorism is a war on Islamofascism, or on Islam.
Sigh, nothing worse than a true believer, the most hard headed and reactionary of peoples.
Robert, Hugh, Ibn:
Here is a great letter from Kaniz Fatima of the USA to Fatemolla (website http://www.jamatepislami.com/)in response to an article that he wrote stating that Muslims are not enjoined to seek political power by Islamic teachings. Here is a link to the article:
http://www.bangladesh-web.com/news/view.php?hidDate=2005-04-05&hidType=OPT&hidRecord=0000000000000000040020
And here are some great "money" quotations:
Any proposition suggesting that Allah did not want prophets to be political administrators is just a sheer ludicrous idea. If you still want to stick to your ‘new’ thinking, then let me mention few examples: what about Prophet Suleiman (AS) and Prophet Daud (AS), who were both heads of states?
What about Hazrat Muhammad (SAWS) who migrated to Medina and became a political administrator there, then conquered Makkah and remained a ruler until his death? What about the blessed companions of our Prophet (SAWS) like Hazrat Abu Bakar(RA), Umar (RA), Uthman (RA) and Ali (RA).
So you people claim to perceive Allah’s rulings better than even prophets and the Companions, who you assume missed to co mprehend Allah’s decree what you have just explored in the 21st century!!! Or, by dethroning Islam from political power, you people want to do big reparation to a supposed titanic mistake that prophets and our early predecessors committed!!! If you drag yourself to the furthest point, and insist that what our Prophet practised in his life was not the proper Islam, then what version of Islam you people are trying to promulgate? Or, do you still believe that a prophet could fulfil his prophetic mission without getting hold of political power? Or, what is your verdict about the Qur’anic verses that follow?:
“He has ordained for you that religion which He commended unto Noah, and that which We inspire in you (O Muhammad!), and that which We commended unto Ibrahim and Mosa and Isa, saying: Establish the religion, and be not divided therein. Dreadful for the idolaters is that unto which you call them. Allah chooses for Himself whom He will, and guides unto Himself him who turns (toward Him).” (42:13)
“And every nation had a messenger; so when their messenger came, the matter was decided between them with justice and they shall not be dealt with unjustly.” (10:47)
“[. . . ] If any do fail to judge by (the light of) what Allah has revealed, they are (no better than) Unbelievers.” (5:44)
“[. . .] And if any fail to judge by (the light of) what Allah has revealed, they are (no better than) wrong-doers.” (5:45)
“[. . .] If any do fail to judge by (the light of) what Allah has revealed, they are (no better than) those who are transgressors.” (5:47)
These are some of the self-manifest verses of the Qur’an, where Allah has explicitly advised the prophets and the believers alike to establish His given Way of life on earth, and to settle things with justice. Just have a thorough look at the Qur’an and see what great emphasis Allah has put on establishing justice in every sphere of our life! Do you think, the political system should be excluded from this domain of justice? Or, do you think a society can benefit from Islamic rulings of justice without putting Islam in political power? If Islam does not have anything to do with politics, why there exist so many verses and prophetic traditions on Islamic political system, monetary and economic systems, international relations, so on and so forth?
And here is another great one wherein the writer explains how Islam is a peaceful religion and how it creates that peace:
I love this: "...it is also the religion to establish ‘peace’, and without political power, it is not possible to materialise that." You see Islam does not achieve peace for the world by enjoining Muslims to simply be peaceful. They achieve peace for the world by taking political power and IMPOSING peace on the world. I must say it is refreshing to have a Muslim who isn't a taqiyya artist write something. By all means let's have more Muslims like Kaniz Fatima who are not afraid to let infidels know what the "real" Islam is all about.
Ahhhh ... Kaniz ... it is so nice to meet a Muslim who is actually willing to tell us what Islam is all about. Thank you for your candor.
Immigration will continue to increase due to the declining birthrate of the vast majority of first world countries. Immigration is necessary to maintain a suffienct workforce for a tax base to support the ever aging white population, especially of Europe. Thanks to secular and liberal “thought”, the current crop of native citizens of the non religious secularist variety are concerned with their own comfort and are too selfish and self absorbed to take on adult responsibilities like reproduction and raising children. There can only be 2 outcomes, either stop immigration and cut back on benefits to the retired etc or increase immigration and maintain the government programs based on the taxes of the immigrant workers. This situation of declining native populations and increased immigration will be the death of western culture as the entire world will be one third world nation. Let’s keep blaming Bush and avoid the real reason why western countries need immigration. Let’s keep abortions on demand and encourage young women to not have children. Who needs family values? Let’s keep on the secularist path and watch the brown people of Asia the ME china and all the rest become the majorities in western countries. What a happy day for all secular socialists, no more white Europeon culture. We will have a gray communist style godless society ruled by colored peoples from forgeign countries.
Islam does not assimilate that is right, my best friends family is muslim, hes a normal canadian he likes to drink and go to the bar, not breaking any laws. However his family beleives that his religion supercedes the laws in canada. And his parents tell him hes an infidel and a bad muslim.
I know some people here think all muslims are brainwashed, and its true because if you dont follow islams guidelines you arent a muslim. Theres no in between, christianity have nondenominational churches, judiasm has reform jews. Islam has islam, no moderate islam exists.
Oh and just to give u an idea how religious he is , i told him about the dome of the rock and how the roof is made of gold and he joked that it would be cool if we took a helicopter and stole the roof and melted it down, i was like dude thats the funniest thing i've ever heard.
Cross:
Cut the racist crap. Anyone can hold Western values just as anyone can be a Muslim or a Christian for that matter. Spare me the white supremacist bullsh*t. However, you are right about one thing - values are transmitted generally speaking from parents to children and most people do not arrive at their values independently. Consequently, if you have a large number of people who arrive in Western countries such as Muslims who do not believe in Western values, they are not likely to ever believe in Western values and that is a problem. So, yes, if we have immigration, let it be emigrants who share our values. If they don't share our values and actually are here to destroy our civilization, then they should not be allowed to come here. But race has nothing to do with this, okay? Like, what are you saying, Westerners can only be white. And Christians can only be white? And Bhuddists can only be brown-skinned? Excuse me?

Turister döda i bombdåd i Kairo

Bomb Explodes in Cairo Tourist Area, Up to 4
By Jonathan Wright
CAIRO (Reuters) - A man on a motorbike threw a bomb in the central historic area of Cairo on Thursday, killing up to four people, including an American and a French citizen, Egyptian police sources and government officials said.
Ahmed Adel, a senior official at the Egyptian Health Ministry, said the explosion in the area popular with tourists wounded 18 others. The Interior Ministry said earlier the French citizen was a woman.
The wounded -- four French, three Americans, an Italian, a Turk and nine Egyptians -- were taken to hospital where the French woman died, it said in a statement.
In Washington, U.S. officials confirmed three Americans were injured but were unable to say if a U.S. citizen had died.
"There was a big explosion and everybody started running away," said witness Rabab Rifaat.
Another witness, who asked not to be named, said he went to scene and saw at least five foreign nationals badly wounded and a large amount of smoke.
Police sources said earlier a man on a motorcycle threw the bomb at about 5 p.m. local time (1500 GMT) in the busy tourist area of the Egyptian capital.
Neither ministry statement made any mention of what caused the blast.
The bomb went off on one of Cairo's streets lined with shops catering for tourists. Police sealed off the road which was covered with shattered glass and shops were closed.
There was no immediate indication of what the motive of the attack was.
The bombing was the latest in a series of attacks on tourists in Egypt, which thousands of foreign nationals visit each year to see its ancient treasures and pyramids.
An Egyptian man stabbed and wounded two Hungarian tourists in central Cairo last month in what police said was revenge for Western policies toward Iraqis and Palestinians.
A series of bombings on the Taba Hilton hotel on Egypt's border with Israel and two beaches further south killed 34 people last October.
OT, This was posted at LGF, very disturbing crime and more disturbing aftermath.

Mentat,
Your response is a good example of how political correctness obfuscates the truth. You are more offended by your perceived view of my racial orientation than you are about why immigration is going to be the largest problem facing the west since the black plague. (At the risk of being labeled a white supremist, let me amend it to just the plague of Europe in the 14th century.)
Your idea of only allowing immigrants in that hold western values is false. So, where are these immigrants going to come from? Currently, they are coming from the ME in the case of Europe. You must remember that the people in western countries are not reproducing and in fact the number of deaths exceed the number of births . And, Europe especially is a land of an aging populace with a median age of about 40 years as compared with the ME which is about 25 years. Europe is trading short term economic stability through immigration which will result in long term and permanent social change which will make Europe look like Iran in about 50 years.
Western values have become secular and materialistic. Western peoples have discarded family values for individual interests, which don't coincide with raising families to even maintain the present populations. I would have liked to have seen you, Mentat, express a solution to this problem instead the tiresome and worn out PC of crying racism.
One solution might be that western countries pay women to have children, say $20,000 per child and I’ll bet the native populations will soon expand making immigration less needed. Without a solution to immigration we can keep blaming George Bush and racism and Christians and right wingers and capitalists. Pointing fingers and placing blame is more important than the truth or a solution, especially to PCers and the left.
Cross
I Agree
You know what Cross your idea of paying to have children in Western societies is one that I have been promoting for a long time. However, I think that we will have to agree to disagree on the immigration question. There is no reason that Europe need only accept Muslim immigrants or any immigration for that matter. Canada, the US, and Australia take immigrants from all over the world. There is no reason why Europe could not be more selective in its immigration. Or, Europe could do what the Japanese are doing - not let any immigrants in at all and go for the robotic solution.
To accuse me of being PC is really a joke. I am just not a racist. A bigot, yes. A racist, no.
Thx Shiva
No problem Mentat
One thing that was in the original article that was left out here was the age of the girls when they entered the country, or, I should say, when they were brought to the US by their parents. One girl came to the US in 1990, the other in 1994. This would make them (approximately) 2 and 6 years old when they entered the US.
Additionally, both girls have many younger siblings who were born in the US and thus are citizens. While this is not entirely relevant, it does complicate matters.
Now, I have no way of knowing if these allegations of a suicide bomb plot are true or not. If they are true, then it is a major crime and should be punished as such. (Though, I would not be surprised if it was a mistake or overreaction on the part of the authorities). However, I don't think the girls' presence in the US can be construed as them being crimminals. They were obviously too young to consent to leaving their home country, and are still presently under age 18. While they may be here illegally, the crime was committed by their parents, and not by the girls themselves.
Just thought it was a relevant point.
Re: the "pay Western women to have children..." It's already done; it's called "welfare."
The whole idea is reminiscent of the Nazis' "Kinder, kirche, kuche" admonition.
Besides, don't believe for a minute that getting Western women to reproduce at a higher rate will solve anything. If we don't educate our children properly about Islam and why our ideas are better than theirs, then all we will be doing is breeding more dhimmis for them.
About the only way to get Western women to become breeders is to trash the economy. Wherever you look, there is a direct relationship between a robust economy and a decreased birthrate.
Draw a straight line from the bottom left-hand corner of a page to the upper right-hand corner, and then sprinkle dots along the line. Some will fall above the line, some below, but in general, this is what a graph would look like if you plotted the productivity of an economy against the number of children per woman--more productivity, fewer kids.
This is because in countries with a good economy, the chances of children surviving to adulthood is relatively high, whereas in countires with weak economies, fewer children survive, and so more children are produced. Obviously, there are isolated instances where this is not the case. For examples, within the robust U.S. economy, there are groups such as Mormons, some Baptists and some Catholics who have large families. Taken together, however, the U.S. birthrate is relatively low.
Exceptions occur across national borders, too; France, relative to the U.S., has a poor economy, yet the birthrate there is lower than in the U.S. (excluding Muslims, of course, who breed like bunnies). Again, we are talking about general trends.
Just to wrap it all up; the competition is in the arena of ideas, not in the bedroom.
As they say, "fight smart, not hard."
The solution to the younger siblings is simple: the Citizenship Reform Act of 2005.
No more anchor babies for the US.
Ask your House Representative to cosponsor this bill. If it were in place now, that would help get the rest of this family out of the US.

Recent news articles have confirmed that the jihadi's are recruiting female members of the death cult (islam) to the call of war for 'allah'. This should come as no surprise to anyone. What do you call a female jihadi? Jihadia?
I wonder how many recent Latina "reverts" will become cut throats? I'd rather be the victim of cat calls from construction workers, et al, than slit throats for 'allah' the moon rock god and its profit, mohammed (piss be upon him).

To Mentat, Cross and others who might be interested.
In Australia the governement has been starting to pay families direct cash payments to see if that will boost the birth rate in Australia.
It seems atleast to be having some effect. Will it work enough to replace the aging population (i.e. at 2.1 births per women) time will tell.
Posted an article explaining it all in the link below:

In response to this statement from you: "Your idea of only allowing immigrants in that hold western values is false. So, where are these immigrants going to come from"?
It doesn't matter where they come from. Our naturalization laws require that immigrants take an oath to defend, protect, and uphold the Constitution of the USA, that they are dedicated to this country and her ideals. What matters is that they uphold the oath they take to this country.
In response to this statement from you: "Western values have become secular and materialistic. Western peoples have discarded family values for individual interests, which don't coincide with raising families to even maintain the present populations".
You obviously have decided that the leftist/socialists of this country are in the majority. I would point out to you the map of the last election and the fact that the issue of "family values" was at the top of the list for Bushs re-election. The leftists of this country are aborting themselves in to an ever smaller minority. Therefore, both your premises are wrong.
All we need to do is uphold the laws that are on the books!
Cross,
You have hit the nail right on the head. I read a report a few months ago that in Germany a full 40% of non college-educated women, as well as 60% of college-educated German women, between the ages of 15 and 45 (my generation) were CHILDLESS. That is shocking! The article went on to say that in interviews, most of these women claimed *not* to have started out life with the express desire to remain childless, it just turned out that way.
They're (and many in our nation) more interested in their vacations and their entertainment than in raising a family.
P.S. I should also add that I read another article from a statistician (commenting on the Australian baby bonuses) who said that even if social policies like baby bonuses/payments are not taken up by the majority, if the policy results in even a fraction of the population deciding to change their behaviour and have more children that can make a very big difference to birth rates too. So perhaps social policies can boost birth rates even if the majority of families don't decide to have more children (such as university graduated women in Germany as previously mentioned here).
Cubed,
"Fight smart, not hard" is oh so true. I could have had 15 children during my time in Germany, before I had rediscovered my faith (and it ain't Islam!),and it would have meant nothing. They would all be little hedonistic secular godless heathens by now who would provide me no grandchildren, too busy taking vacations.
The values of the parents, matter too, not just the number of children.
I know more than a few families of my generation who had 3 or more children, with NOT a single grandchild. The parents neglected to share their values.
Asylum seekers should be returned to their country of origin under U.S. embassy protection until their case can be ajudicated. We can no longer let the crime of sneaking in snooker our laws. Any illegal entry should bar another entry forever.

Carolyn2, f.g.; actually, the US Constitutional Bill of Rights and our jurisprudence since inception has thought of protections applying to persons in the US rather than simply citizens. Hence, if you're a businessman from Country Z in the US for a month to check on some investments, and breaks contract with you or swindles you, you have access to US courts. If you are an illegal alien, you also have right to counsel and hearing. If these kids' parents applied for asylum, they'll be waiting a long time for their day in court. Only after a judge rules against them can they be deported.
