Indicating anew that the problem is not terrorism. It is jihad. From the Malaysian StarOnline, with thanks to Nicolei:
NEW YORK: Malaysia has made it clear it cannot support the United Nations secretary-general's recommendation on the definition of terrorism as it did not clearly differentiate between terrorism and the legitimate struggles of people fighting for their right to be free of colonial and alien domination, foreign occupation and their right to national liberation. Its Permanent Representative to the UN Datuk Rastam Mohamed Isa said it also did not address the root causes of terrorism.
"We have noted the important elements on terrorism that are missing in the secretary-general's report, as pointed out by the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) and are willing to discuss these further with the view to ensuring that they are given adequate attention," he said.
Rastam was speaking at the informal thematic consultations of the General Assembly on the report of the secretary-general entitled In Larger Freedom: Towards Development, Security and Human Rights for All on Friday.
He said Malaysia had taken note of the comprehensive strategy on terrorism and would study it further.
"For the moment, we see some parts of the strategy as inadequate.
"For example, it fails to address the root causes of terrorism, political grievances, economic and social marginalisation, regional conflicts and foreign occupation.
All those have occurred many times in the past to non-Muslim peoples without causing terrorism. Now why is that?
"Root causes of terrorism are not founded simply on the belief that the use of terrorist methods can achieve an aim," he said...
Gobbledygook:
Maury Maverick, a Texan lawyer who was at various times a Democratic Congressman and mayor of San Antonio.
He used the word in the New York Times Magazine on 21 May 1944, while he was chairman of the US Smaller War Plants Committee in Congress, as part of a complaint against the obscure language used by his colleagues. His inspiration, he said, was the turkey, “always gobbledy gobbling and strutting with ludicrous pomposity”.
(Petaling Jaya, Monday): According to the Bernama report on 20 April 2005, the Internal Security Ministry has banned 11 English foreign publications on the ground of being detrimental to public order under the Printing Presses and Publications Act 1984 (Amended) 1987.
The books that have been banned are "Mercy Oceans' Lovestream" by Sheikh Nazim Al-Qubrusi; "A History of God" by Karen Amstrong; "The Cross and the Crescent" by Phil Parshall; "Messiah War in the Middle East & Road to Armageddon" by Grant R. Jeffrey; "The Sterling Dictionary of Religion" by Amrita Sharma; "The Word of Islam" by John Alden Williams; "Great Religions of the World" (no author mentioned); "Mysterious Facts Strange World" by Richard O'Neill; "Mysterious Facts Gods and Demons" by Amanda O'Neill; "Women and Islam" by Fatima Mernissi; and "Muhammad A Biography of the Prophet" by Karen Amstrong.
DAP calls on the Internal Security Minister who is also the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Badawi to explain the reasons for the ban on the 11 books; and in what way they are detrimental to public order. Simply stating that the publications are detrimental to public order without justifying how they are so is plainly unacceptable.

Wow, a book by Koran Armstrong is banned?
I thought they would use that for propaganda purposes...
Terminator:
Actually, two books by Koran Armstrong are on the banned books list.
As to why, perhaps they weren't propagandaistic enough for them.
In the last five years alone, at least a dozen incidents took place, including the Sipadan and Pandanan kidnappings in Sabah, the weapons heist in Grik (the weapons disappeared but an allegedly extremist Muslim group called Al-Maunah were blamed, some weapons recovered in a fake encounter nearby and several sentenced to death and long terms of imprisonment), the spate of kidnappings and killings at sea (which many concerned intelligence officials believe a co-ordinated hand in these), the Nur Misuari caper when he escaped to Malaysia which then returned him to the Philippine authorities, He is in jail there but not before he provided the name of every Malaysian intelligence official who dealt with him over three decades, putting their lives at risk.

Interesting how Malaysia, though about as far away from the Middle East as it's possible to get and still be in Asia, is so poisened by the psychotic grievances of its Arab-Muslim colonizers. I wonder if successful, intelligent Malays ever secretly rue the day the Arab traders gained a foothold in their country.
Incidentally, Malaysia is economically successful mainly because of its ethnic Chinese minority, and is the only country in the world with quotas for the majority ethnicity (needed to prevent more race riots by Malays against the Chinese).
Just what I would expect from a Muslim fascist slimebag!
"it did not clearly differentiate between terrorism and the legitimate struggles of people fighting for their right to be free of colonial and alien domination, foreign occupation and their right to national liberation."
This is a perfect example of why we need a straight shooter in the UN like John Bolton -- not some ninny back rubber the Liberals want!
Acts of terrorism- purposely targeting and killing unarmed civilians and non-combatants, and hitting neutral sites (schools, hospitals, places of worship, etc.) are considering "legitimate" by these Malay Morons?
Attacking them, then, would be acceptable by their own logic, since the West is in a 'liberation struggle' against extremist theocratic Islamicists who are bent on establishing a global extermination camp for those 'heretics' who dare to fight them, and a prison camp for the cowardly 'people of the book' who might simply surrender.
Thanks, idiots. When you think you are signing your enemies' death warrent, it turns out you have provided your enemy with your own.
Terrorists will never allow a definition of "terrorism" to be established.
It would cramp their style.
the best way to deal with jihadis is to boycott them(short of war that is). we import way too much stuff from the far and middle east. the next time you go to the store for anything, make sure it doesnt say made in malaysia, indonesia, pakistan, bangladesh, egypt, etc.
Let me tell you about Malaysia. Malay Muslims in Malaysia are known as "Bumiputera" (in English it's translated to Prince of the Soil). Other citizens are known as NON-Bumiputera (aka, NON-Muslims). It is an insult, to begin with, to address people as a NON-whatever. In Malaysia, affirmative action in the form of NEP (New Economic Policy) is not based on a person's economic status/need, but rather, one's race and is provided solely for the MAJORITY population (ie., Malay Muslims). The minority (Chinese, Indians and other aboriginal minorities) are sidelined regardless of the poverty level and economic needs of these people. Affirmative action is in the areas of education (university admission, scholarships, etc), economy (Malays/Bumiputeras get up to 10% discount on purchase of property solely on basis of their race/religion, only Malay tycoons get license/permit to import vehicles and rice a staple food into the country, government-linked companies controlling power, water and telecommunications have 95% Malay employment and all management in these companies are almost exclusively Malays, most government jobs go to Malays and promotion priority goes to them), and politics (a NON-Muslim will NEVER ever be allowed to be Prime Minister, and the ruling political party UMNO is dominated by Malays, with minority component parties playing puppet roles under the Barisan Nasional banner). Malaysia is practising apartheid in the most blatant manner and no one is supposed to question this or risk persecution under ISA (Internal Security Act) whereby a person is captured and held captive without trial in an ISA camp. In short no one is to talk about this "sensitive" issue, nor disturb the status quo and is supposed submit as good dhimmis to this apartheid. There is a facade of religious freedom in Malaysia, but only just. Tax money goes to building mosques only. Churches, Hindu/Buddhist temples, are not government funded and building permits are VERY hard to obtain. Even when obtained, the state may withdraw the permit should Muslim residents complain. No surprise then that many non-bumiputera Malaysians are leaving the country to migrate to countries that actually practise true democracy, and in turn causing a brain drain. The concept of Malay-Supremacy that most bumiputeras in Malaysia believe is their right has many parallels to Hitler's Aryan dream. For good reading on Malaysia and its hypocritical, mostly corrupt government, go to....

Even the DPM Najib Tun Razak believes so:
Non-Malays living in the vicinity of mosques in Kuala Lumpur hear this call to arms against the non-Muslims through high-pitches megaphones often enough to be dismissed as untrue. I suspect Dr Yusof is annoyed a Muslim has spilled the beans; if a non-Muslim had done so, he could be ignored. Perhaps Dr Yusof should also tell us if Christmas carols mentioning Jesus should be banned at a Christmas party organised by the government. Was there a ban? Of course there was.
AND
Dato' Seri Najib kicked the ball first to insist to insist none should openly debate if Muslims could slander the followers of other religions

This is what a `model` islamic state is.

I would say that leaves the WHOLE United Nations in a real dilemmah.
The United Nations cliams...
Article 2
1. No one shall be subject to discrimination by any State, institution, group of persons, or person on the grounds of religion or other belief.
From the Koran:
009.030 The Jews call 'Uzair a son of Allah, and the Christians call Christ the son of Allah. That is a saying from their mouth; in this they but imitate what ''''the unbelievers'''' of old used to say. Allah's curse be on them: how they are deluded away from the Truth!
The United Nations...
Article 3
Discrimination between human beings on the grounds of religion or belief constitutes an affront to human dignity and a disavowal of the principles of the Charter of the United Nations, and shall be condemned as a violation of the human rights and fundamental freedoms proclaimed in the Universal Declaration on Human Rights and enunciated in detail in the International Covenants on Human Rights, and as an obstacle to friendly and peaceful relations between nations.
Article 4
1. All States shall take effective measures to prevent and eliminate discrimination on the grounds of religion or belief in the recognition, exercise and enjoyment of human rights and fundamental freedoms in all fields of civil, economic, political, social and cultural life.
The Koran commands...
004.104 And slacken not in following up the enemy: If ye are suffering hardships, they are suffering similar hardships.
009.039 Unless ye go forth, He will punish you with a grievous penalty, and put others in your place.
009.029 Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued.
How is it - Islam has a say at the United Nations?
So those Mudslimes think it's okay to stomp on "infidel" or the ones with brains and ambition. Good, I hope all the non-Muslims leave so the Muslims can turn that country back into a backswamp of poverty, ignorance and disease. These scumbags never cease to amaze me. At least the Nazis had a legit legacy of German Science, Technology, Scholarship, Music, Arts and Military methods to live off of, as opposed to people who haven't invented squat in the last seven centuries!
