"Terrorists Strike Fuel Tankers in Afghanistan," from AP, with thanks to Jeffrey Imm:
KANDAHAR, Afghanistan - Suspected Taliban rebels set off a bomb next to a fuel tanker parked outside the main U.S. military base in southern Afghanistan early Sunday, setting off a chain of large explosions that destroyed five tankers and injured three drivers, officials said...."The Taliban perpetrated this terrorist activity," the general said.
By midmorning Sunday, black smoke still billowed from the charred hulls of the tankers.
Taliban rebels have kept up a drumbeat of attacks, particularly in the
south, but have failed to launch any major uprising in recent months. On Saturday, the top U.S. general in the country predicted they might try to pull off a "high-visibility attack" in an effort to reverse their waning fortunes....
It could also be that these folks want to drive up the price of oil in order to harm the United States. If they can keep making trouble in Afghanistan and Iraq and drive up oil prices, they may be able to elect a dhimmi President next time around -- not just one who kowtows to the Saudis and CAIR, but one who sees all anti-jihad resistance as racism or American imperialism.
So, I guess that from now on, if anything BUT the republican is elected, he's--or, as in 2008, SHE's--a dhimmi? Isn't a little early to be dissembling for the GOP? Can't you wait until gas is 4 or 5 dollars a gallon?
Maybe you can explain this for "daft" and "ignorant" fools like me, why is it that every time the GOP scores a big win, the price of gas goes up 50 cents a gallon?
Bush is the ULTIMATE dhimmi. He's the first president to call for a "palestinian state" side-by-side with Israel. He gushes praise on Islam at the State of The Union speech. Prince Bandar is a frequent guest in the Lincoln Room. Bush Sr. and his lackey James Baker III work FOR the Saudis.
Just come right out and say it:
Liberal=Evil=Dhimmi=Islalm=Terrorism.
Conservative=smart=moral=Christian=perfect=good.
Keith,
I don't know why you persist in missing my posts attacking Bush's dhimmitude, but your act has grown as tiresome as Giaour's. I am trying to resist a jihad here, and you are the one constantly -- constantly -- playing politics. Not I.
If I think the 2008 Demo candidate would be less of a dhimmi than the Repub, I will vote for her. I also don't think there's a snowball's chance in hell of that. It will be -- again -- dumb or dumber, dhimmi or dhimmier.
Now, comments are marvelously open, unmoderated and unfettered here, and certainly resemble a cesspool often enough to bear witness to that fact, but I am tired of your act. Beat it. Go play on some Lefty forum more to your liking. See how much they appreciate your anti-jihadism.
You are not banned, but as I said to Giaour, you are tiresome. Go away, please.
Cordially
Robert Spencer
Fox news now reports that the fuel tanker incident was an accident and not an attack.
As for Keith, well, I think Robert said all that need be said. I for one see Robert as a light in a very dark land.
All of our leaders are scared of being labeled as a racist or intolerant by any number of our minority groups. Our polititians move to the center and are careful not to offend any of these groups. We can thank the 60’s revolution which is still going on today and will never stop until it becomes the tyrant with the robes. Republicans are good at defense and cutting taxes but the left has won on changing the moral climate and de Christianizing America. The left has weakened American leaders by constantly hounding them non stop to be politically correct. The GOP needs to stop playing the game and walk away and don’t listen anymore. We need to take back what the left has destroyed. A new cultural revolution is needed.
This could not be classified as a "terrorist attack". The fuel tankers were supplying Occupying forces in Afghanistan. An attack against them would be legitimate.
Why the American occupation of Afghanistan is illegal: Afghanistan did not attack the US. Their guests allegedly did. When 9/11 occured, the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan immediately offered their condolences and unequivocally condemned the attack. When the US accused Al-Qaeda (at the time, it was nothing more than an accusation. There was no substantive evidence), the I.E.A offered, like it did previously offered when the 1998 Afrtica Embassy bombings occured, that the US give them evidence of guilt and they would themselves prosecute him, or else the I.E.A would hand UBL over to a neutral third party that was also considered an ally by the US (Saudi Arabia and other Gulf Countries).
The US, however, in its apparent blood lust to revenge 9/11, absolutely refused this perfectly reasonable offer and instead, arrogated itself to demanding that Afghanistan be nothing more than a US puppet and bend over backwards to please it and when the proud Afghans refused to humiliate themselves, the US proceeded to invade Afghanistan and this illegal conflict has so far killed over 20,000 Afghan civilians.
In conclusion, this is why the US invasion and its occupation is illegal. For those who claim that Afghanistan is a "democratic country", stop listening to the Mass Media and wake up. It is easily apparent that Afghanistan's election was fabricated. The ink that was supposed to prevent fraud was proven to do otherwise, and Karzai's thugs proceeded to repeatedly vote several hundreds of times over. All of the protests of the opposition mysteriously vanished when the US ambassador payed them each a visit probably to give them an offer they can't refuse (think Godfather).
Source for indelible ink fraud
Source for Karzai's thugs threatening voters and widespread election fraud
I think the CIA and the Military think tanks know a little bit more than you.
Undoubtedly so, Cross. But sometimes they choose to ignore the reliable information that they have and instead rely on rumor in order to further the goals of the ruling Administration (See Iraq pre-war Intelligence).

Shukri-
Let's think old style "Great Game" and geopolitcally, taking in the Big Picture and working with realpolitik:
Afghanistan was run by a demented pack of destructive, backward, violent buffoons. Their treatment of women, men, art and everything else related to civilization and culture was abysmal, abominable and ludicrous.
9/11 hits the fan.
If you are the leader of a superpower able to then blame these morons, and the other idiotic violent troublemaker (by Western standards) named Osama, then you seize the moment and take advantage of the white hot rage, and move to wipe out these nests of rattlesnakes (Taliban and Al-Qaeda). Whether they were THE specific guilty rattlesnakes, this time, OR NOT, it makes strategic sense to rub them out.
They are rattlesnakes. They will not become anything nicer. You know they are crazy, backward and armed. Use your head, Shuk. As president, you point a finger at them and say:
the guy they are harboring did it!
(He probably did... and my immediate reaction on September 11, 2001, at 9:10 a.m. was "Does the name Osama Bin Laden rings a bell?"... and I'm not in the C.I.A., but have followed this maniac's career). If the Taliban then gave him up, you got to eradicate one rattler. If the Afghan leaders don't, you can snuff out a whole pack of these deadly flaming imbeciles.
I have no sympathy for people trying to kill me and my neighbors, so to see this Dark Ages regime vanquished and sent into the cesspool of history was a grimly satisfying to me. (That inncoents suffered by friendly fire is always heartbreaking, but war is a calamity that you try to end as quickly as humanly possible, because avoiding it entirely CAN bring more suffering.)
As for Iraq, it was a gamble to NOT strike.
If there were WMD's nearing 'usability', as there ALREADY had been (Saddam gassed the Kurds before the Gulf War, and had a nuclear program going all the way back to Osirak), then to NOT strike would risk a U.S. city possibility poisoned- with anthrax or ricin or sarin- or vaporized with a crude Al-Qaedi-carried nuke.
No president could take that chance. Not with 3,000 dead citizens incinerated or blown to shreds, or jumped 1,000 feet to the streets of NYC and turned into human jelly -rather than be broiled alive in gushing jet fuel.
One thing no one has considered, along with the stated reasons for striking Iraq:
-what would be the best (i.e. safest) time to attack?
Not in 1991, at the and of Operation Desert Storm, when it was certain that their were shells filled with nerve gas, mustard gas, possibly sarin, and anthrax, etc,, since soldiers by the hundreds or thousands might have died, along with tens or hundreds of thousands of nearby innocent Iraqi civilians.
So you wait, let the U.N. disarm Saddam, and then, when there is a pretext (9/11), and you are nearly positive that there are NO WMD's left, you hit Iraq.
Militarily, when your enemy has no more mass-murderous weapons, that is the ideal time to strike them.
All of the mea culpas and finger-pointing afterwards ("Gee, our intelligence was terrible! Ooops! Man, do we look dumb!" etc., etc.) may just be a cunning and extremely effective cover for this extraordinarily brilliant tactical attack. In essence, a perfectly executed sucker punch.
I only hope they are really that smart.
Since many vital miltary secrets from WW II only came to light in the 1970's ("Ultra", etc.) and some are still classified, we may have to wait a generation before the deeper facts behind this war come forth from the "Restricted" intelligence files.
Whoever specifically engineered 9/11 is less important, in realpolitik terms, than who sympathized with it. Since, if they had had the means, they would have done it, too. Or worse.
And they plan worse in the future.
So, hammer them when the iron is hot, and hope you scare the next batch of murderous terrorists out of trying to emulate this suicidal stupidity that Osama and the Taliban demonstrated.
Things are never as neat or clear or 'pretty' or legalistically clear or above-the-surface as the front men and apologists for the government's behavior let on, or may even know.

Shurki, the 'proud Afghan people' didn't decide to resist the Americans - they did as they were told by the Taliban. Now that the Taliban is broken, the people have greater right to exert their own will. Women in particular now have greater rights to education and work than they have in many, many years.
Geoff
Incidentally, it seems the US was right about al-Qaeda being in Afghanistan and the Taliban was wrong.
Fancy that.
Geoff
Shukri you are such a troll. You must get a real kick out of making a fool out of yourself and getting burnt on every topic. It's clear to everyone where u stand , we get it.
I thought there had been free elections in Afganistan and that it has its own governement and is not occupied it all. At least, my country is there to assist the elected governement and help to rebuild the country and keep it safe.
Apart from the reaon for the invasion (keeping terror nests) it goes without saying that the abonimable life (?) of (at least) half of the population that was sequestered, tortured, killed for showing a footh (even if not on purpose or because being beaten down), not allowed to scooling, not allowed to visit a doctor for medical treatment of the opposite sexe and not allowed to practise as MD therselfs and so on has improved considerably (although backward practices continue but then Islam rules). For the male popultion goes, although their treatment under thaliban was not as harsh as that of the women, that their lifes also inporved, p.e. they are now allowed to listen to music.
It takes an Islam-apologete to twist this truth around as Shurki does. And yes, the Us was attacked by people acoomodated by the Thaliban, and yes, the Thaliban had it coming.
Shurki spins a real yarn.
All these years Arab and Muslim Countries allowed Saddam to slaughter thousand of people each month and the U.N. failed to declare if there
were or were not WMD's in Iraq.
Truely amazing,American soldiers have risked their lives to run to the aid of Muslims during the last four Wars the USA has been involved in
thousands of miles from US soil.
I can assure you that when Jesus walked on water
to the amazement of onlookers,Shurki would bitch
that it was because Jesus couldn't swim. The middle east violence is from the Muslim mindset that dwells on the anger and hate for any perceived wrong done to them, this cycle of war was predicted by Christ when he warned of the "False Prophet" that would bring lies and suffering while claiming to speak for God.
Meshukki:
You will not find any converts on this site. Kitman and Taqqiya don't work with people who post here.
Your great fortune is that we have lost -at least temporarily- the WILL TO RULE-, but that will come back. The next generation of Americans and Europeans will be educated about Islam. One way or another people will wke up about Islam and how to fight it. Once we fight it, it will be ended for good.
For now you can still enjoy Americas freedom, you can bullshit around and go fishing for converts, but once the coin drops and the general population is informed about what Islam really is, then its back to the desert for you, with or without goats and camels.
Praise Allah! He will give you what you need...
