GENEVA, Three Muslim families were denied the Swiss citizenship, despite meeting all conditions, under claims of being "less integrated" into the society, in a step seen as counter to efforts aimed at integrating immigrants into the Swiss society.Despite meeting all necessary requirements, the Rhinak city in the eastern province of St. Gallen, refused to give citizenship to three Muslim families, hailing from Bosnia, on the grounds that they are "less integrated into society and unaccustomed to the Swiss civil life".
The three Muslim families, whose children are studying at Swiss schools, have been living in Switzerland for almost 20 years.
According to Swiss law, an immigrant is entitled to obtain citizenship after settling in the country for 12 years, provided that he did not commit criminal acts or financial irregularities.
Swiss laws also stipulate that immigrant children, born in the European country, have no right to obtain immediate citizenship, unlike other European countries, which grant citizenship to the children born on their soil.
The decision to deny the Muslim families citizenship was taken by 127-107 vote in the 234-member citizenship-granting committee of Rhinak
city.

Is this a proof of the advantages of direct democracy, Swiss style? They don't have Brussels and the EUrocrats to decide for them.
Swiss human rights groups had been pressing for amending citizenship laws, but the demands hit a dead end due to stern efforts by rightist groups, that argue such amendments would allow large numbers of Muslims to become citizens, according to IOL Correspondent
I took a lot of heat here a few weeks ago when I suggested that the victory of the People's Party under Christoph Blocher signalled a turnabout in Switzerland's open-door policy and a rough road ahead for their Muslim community.
Up to a point, the Swiss are happy to star as the epicenter for political refugees, Human Rights organisations, and assorted UN-related directives, but when push comes to shove, they won't surrender their idyllic lifestyle and hardened underground vaults.
I do business with the Swiss and this is exactly what I would have expected.
Citizenship in any Infidel country can only be based on swearing allegiance -- and meaning it, and meaning it permanently, not with the mental reservation of kitman -- to the Infidel nation-state. That means forswearing that sole loyalty to, or indeed any loyalty to, a belief-system that demands its adherence to work for the spread of Islam, and for the imposition of as much of the sharia as is practical.
This is a minimum demand for any Infidel nation-state to make on those who wish to become citizens, if that nation-state wishes to preserve and protect its own political and social arrangements, its own way of life, its own Indigenous Infidels who inherited, and would like, even in clumsy, even in slightly ungrateful fashion, this legacy, this inheritance, political, social, cultural, artistic. And it is a demand that no true Believer in Islam can possibly meet.
I guess 500,000 and 1 'asylum-seeking Muslim immigrants' was finally just too much for the Swiss.

Shoot, angry_kafir, Islam is incompatible with life, period!
And I repeat from another thread, it's time for us to insist that Islam accommodate civilization, and not vice versa.
I'd be interested in knowing what kind of test was applied to determine that this family had failed to adequately integrate. Citizenships tests in Canada used to require applicants to demonstrate a degree of knowledge of the country's history, geography, etc., but I doubt it was a terribly onerous test.
Now what I want to know is: can the Swiss take citizenship from any muslims who are already Swiss, on the grounds of failing to integrate.
One thing that the Swiss do have is, a strong sense of survival. They won't surrender their lifestyle for any political correctness.

This statement about Switzerland is true, but a far as I know, what was said about other countries is not true either. My son was born in Germany and had no rights to German citizenship. Outside of the U.S. and Canada I don't know of any country where citizenship is automatically granted upon birth to a child born to immigrant, non-citizen parents.
As far as Switzerland goes, it is VERY hard to become naturalized. There is much more to it than just meeting the time requirements. Even if you are one of the lucky few, many or most Swiss might accept that you are legally Swiss but will NEVER think of you as being REALLY Swiss.
