Hugh Fitzgerald has alerted me to this astounding example of dhimmi idiocy from a US official in Pakistan. From Pakistan's Dawn, "Islam religion of peace, justice: diplomat":
PESHAWAR - Principal Officer of the US Consulate in Peshawar, Michael A. Spangler, has said that Islam is the fastest growing religion in the United States and his country is eager to promote Islam's message of peace and justice."We stretch our hands to you in friendship and peace on this auspicious day, the birthday of the Holy Prophet (pbuh)", he said while speaking at a function held here on Sunday. The function was arranged in connection with Eid Milad-un-Nabi by the US Consulate, Peshawar in collaboration with Jamia Ashrafia, Peshawar.
He said: "The message of the Holy Prophet (pbuh) has strengthened the ideas of democracy, tolerance and moderation in my own thinking and action.
Spangler has learned democracy, tolerance, and moderation from Muhammad? What was Spangler like before he learned about Muhammad?
I beg all of you Muslims to help me understand the message of Islam more clearly. Please condemn acts of terrorism and stand up for the message of peace and justice that the Holy Prophet has taught."He said the US would extend all possible help and assistance to the MMA government in the NWFP to empower and improve lives of people.
Provincial Minister for Local Governments Sardar Mohammad Idris, in his keynote address, said: "We don't believe in clash of civilisations; rather we wish harmony and cohesion among different world civilisations. We should come closer to each other. This process of nearness can help us understand each other."
We should follow in the footprints of the Holy Prophet who preached peace, tolerance against barbarism, ignorance and injustice, the minister said.
Yeah, the H.P. was quite a tolerant fellow. Here's one of my favorite examples of his tolerance:
Fight in the name of Allah and in the way of Allah. Fight against those who disbelieve in Allah. Make a holy war...When you meet your enemies who are polytheists, invite them to three courses of action. If they respond to any one of these, you also accept it and withold yourself from doing them any harm. Invite them to (accept) Islam; if they respond to you, accept it from them and desist from fighting against them....If they refuse to accept Islam, demand from them the Jizya. If they agree to pay, accept it from them and hold off your hands. If they refuse to pay the tax, seek Allah's help and fight them. (Sahih Muslim 4294)
Here's another, specifically depicting his tolerance of barbarism:
While the Prophet was prostrating, surrounded by some of Quraish, 'Uqba bin Abi Mu'ait brought the intestines (i.e. abdominal contents) of a camel and put them over the back of the Prophet. The Prophet did not raise his head, (till) Fatima, came and took it off his back and cursed the one who had done the harm. The Prophet said, "O Allah! Destroy the chiefs of Quraish, Abu Jahl bin Hisham, 'Utba bin Rabi'al, Shaba bin Rabi'a, Umaiya bin Khalaf or Ubai bin Khalaf." (The sub-narrator Shu'ba, is not sure of the last name.) I saw these people killed on the day of Badr battle and thrown in the well except Umaiya or Ubai whose body parts were mutilated but he was not thrown in the well. (Sahih Bukhari, Volume 5, Book 58, Number 193)
I can see how all that fighting and cursing of enemies would move Spangler to become more tolerant. So can Idris:

He also lauded US's support for the MMA government in various fields....Mufti Kifayatullah, spokesman for MMA, in his thought-provoking speech said the Muslims, like other nations, should also be viewed as broadminded people. He said: "We believe in Bible as a divine book, Christ and Moses as Prophets of Allah like Muhammad (pbuh). Even we name our children after Christ and Moses. People from other religions should follow us"...
...into dhimmitude, eh, Kifayatullah? It is appalling that he could stand up there and say that they believe the Bible is a divine book without bothering to mention that they also believe it has been corrupted and that those who believe it are under Allah's curse (see Qur'an 9:30).
Several thoughts hit me after reading this piece....Has or will the Pakistan government, run by peaceful followers of Mohammed, demand justice and the return of the 40 Pakistani Christians being detained and tortured in a Saudi jail after a home was broken into and their fellow countrymen and women were caught PRAYING!!! (and to the Muslim who has been writing in Jihadwatch lately about white people vs brown people,isn't this jailing a brown on brown issue in your color world? Or are non-Western Christians in possesion of another color?) And, as far as Muslims being the fastest growing religion in the USA, as claimed by Mr. Spangler, I say,"no way." Through immigration from Christian Mexico and birth rates, the number of Christians in the US continues to grow far beyond Islam....and, I just saw the photo op of Pres. Bush holding the hand of the Saudi prince...what was he thinking?????

This story shouldn't be listed in this dhimmitude section of the blog. For an officer of a U.S. consulate to bash the religion of his hosts would be the last and most courageous phase of anti-dhimmitude. We're not even half way there.
For starters, domestic politicians can acknowledge that global jihad is a result of Islam, a drop all the PC bull$hit such as "religion of peace", "tiny minority of extremists" and the other cliches readers of JW are very familiar with.

This is what is called "going native". Time to call the man back to civilization.
First of all, a US diplomatic mission usually says something nice to the host country on its holidays. It's part of the game.
Second of all, for a lot of people of any rank in the foreign service, conscious rejection of the theological tradition in which they were raised is a necessary "rite of passage". One result is that they feel they can freely burn incense at a Daoist shrine or put (pbuh) after Muhammad's name and act as if the Establishment Clause doesn't exist.
For myself, I would simply have made mention that the US wishes the people of Pakistan well on their holiday; and note that Islam is one of many religions practiced in the USA; and left it at that.
Well, Kemaste, the Pipes piece kinda shoots down the idea that there is no coherent plan or purpose to the deception(supposed ignorance)being perpetrated concerning islam and the "war on terror". The fact is that the military is the tool used to set up the necessary preconditions of access(to societal institutions) and enforcement.
Acknowledging it as fact and effective opens the door to many things that some may wish to remain closed.
The islamic Matrix is to be destroyed and they are to be taken into the "Western" Matrix. How long it will take and how many of our people will be sacrificed is the only question that remains.
But its more fun to rant on about the stupidity of the "authorities". Eventually, probably years down the line JW/DW will also cease to be an acceptible forum, and be eliminated on the pretext of hate-speech or revisionist history or some-such Orwellian thing. After all, in a way, JW confirms the legitimacy of the jihadis religious/intellectual authority, though with opposite conclusions of course.
Nevermind that the concept of free-will, personal responsibility, and objective truth are gone down the old memory hole, soon to be obliterated forever. Ultimately world totalitarian rule will be the result. But they will tell us we are free, and most will believe it. Why not, they believe it now.
If I was in Pakistan, a lone infidel giving a speech to muslim fanatics, I would talk that way too. "When in Rome, you do as the Romans do..." When you are standing in the middle of a pit of vipers, the last thing you want to do is make any fast moves.
Seriously, this guy should be recalled and reassigned to the janitorial dept for preaching religion as a US rep. Spanglers speech would have gone over equally well in Pakistan or Hollywood. You know that Babs Striesand and Sean Penn would orgasm over it...and Oprah??? Dont get me started...hahaha
