Suicide bombings are happening almost daily in Iraq, but in the place where the practice became internationally famous, we are being assured that it is all over. A Bridge For Sale Alert from the Jerusalem Post, with thanks to JS:
Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas said in an interview aired on Sunday that the era of suicide bombings may be over."We have started to deal with the culture of violence," he said. "We stopped the culture of violence and the Palestinian people have started looking at it as something that should be condemned and it should stop." Asked on ABC whether the suicide bombing era had ended, he said: "I believe it is over."
But he warned that if progress toward a peace agreement was not achieved in meetings with Sharon next month, "despair and loss of hope will come back and a return to the old ideas" of armed resistance.
In other words, it's over unless we don't get what we want.
Until the next Hamas lunatic decides differently.
It ain't over until the fat lady sings -is how one guy once described The Opera.
In this instance-
It ain't over until the Koran is reformed to forbid murdering innocent people for jihadist ends.
And that fatwa 'lady' doesn't look tired of her siren song of suicide yet.
And at just what recent hour did the culture of violence get laid to rest? It doesn't seem as though that message got through to members of Al-Qaeda's newest chapter -- West Bank division.

Fatah-Hamas crisis brews ahead of election rerun

GAZA, May 30 (Reuters) - A power struggle between Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas's ruling Fatah party and Islamic Hamas militants has flared ahead of a court-ordered rerun of contested town elections on Wednesday.
Egyptian mediation has so far failed and a second Fatah-Hamas conflict looms over a date for a parliamentary vote with higher stakes. The disputes have raised fears of factional violence that could undermine Abbas's peace agenda with Israel.
"It's a sticky one. Hamas on the one hand and Fatah on the other are entrenched in their positions. So I don't think we will see an easy out," political analyst Ali Jarbawi said.
"It might get out of hand. You might see people fighting in the streets," he said.
Hamas, sworn to destroying Israel, is abiding by a de facto ceasefire engineered by Abbas. But the deal hinged partly on his promise of more power-sharing including a July legislative election in which Fatah could face a strong Islamist challenge.
As long as terrorist are bent on destroying Israel, we should never believe that suicide bombing has ended.
Every one should read the Palestinian National Charter and see where all these promises are really going.
Internal conflicts in Islamoworld, is a good thing..."united they stand, divided they fall".
You cant trust Abu anymore than you should trust
a venomous snake.
"It might get out of hand. You might see people fighting in the streets," he said.
But wait, I just thought of this...maybe our powers should encourage internal Islamic conflicts. If the Sunni's and Shiites are busy fighting each other, they may have to withdraw jihad against the world and concentrate their efforts on "family matters"...
"Lets "you" and him "fight", sounds good to me...that way I dont have to do it...
"We have started to deal with the culture of violence," he said. "We stopped the culture of violence and the Palestinian people have started looking at it as something that should be condemned and it should stop."
Yep, sure, riiiiight. When pigs fly, when the fat lady sings, when arafart in a suit recognizes the Holocaust, etc. etc. we'll see. When there hasn't been a suicide bombing in Israel for 10 full years, then I might begin to believe what that cretin says. I guess amnesty international, international red cross see his statements as humanitarian goodness at work. Feh!

You say “What about the people of Kashmir? If the fundamentalist threat is removed would India finally have a referendum so the Kashmiris can decide their own fate”.
Get this right. Since the God created this earth Kashmir has been under the Hindu majority far longer than it has been under the Muslims. Are you suggesting that some parts of the UK and Europe which will have Muslim majority in future have a referendum? Kashmir was always Hindu majority until most of them were driven out and outbred.
After three wars started by Pakistan it has failed to loosen India’s grip on Kashmir. India has no policy of eliminating the Kashmiris. Those who get killed are mainly Pakistani trained and sponsored jihadists killed in encounters with the Indian army. Jihad and exporting terrorists are part of Pakistan’s foreign policy. Azad (Independent) Kashmir is that part of Indian Kashmir which Pakistan forcibly occupied soon after India’s creation. The inhabitants are not independent. Azad Kashmir leaders are appointed by Pakistan. The currency and passports of Azad Kashmir is Pakistani. The subjugated inhabitants have a long standing freedom struggle so what about a referendum so that they can decide their own fate? And how about referendum for the Northern states, the repressed Shias and Mohajirs?
Kashmir has India’s ancestral religious places (like you have in Saudi Arabia)such as the Amaranth shrine, which the Hindus consider the source of the Ganges so quite rightly India is insisting that the question of redrawing the boundary is out of question.
Informed Christian, just a historical correction on your statement: “As I understand it, legally, Kashmir actually belongs to India because its muhammadan ruler decided to go with India and not Pakistan during independence. That was the deal. It was Pakistan that in fact invaded Kashmir after that decision”.
The ruler was in fact a Hindu called Raja Hari Singh.
The reason why suicide bombings are down in Israel is the separation wall.
"In other words, it's over unless we don't get what we want."
Nothing new. Give us what we want or we'll kill you is the same message given down through the ages...
I think you are right Red. Finish the wall.
Im seriously almost at the point of moving to israel and joing up with the IDF. Give me my rifle and tell me where to point it.
So that's what he said in English. What did he say in Arabic?? "Kill Kill Kill the infidel?" Or "Jihad Jihad Jihad" like his beloved Arafat?
Lets not forget that Mahmoud Abbas got his "doctorate" on telling the world how the holocaust never happened.
"When there hasn't been a suicide bombing in Israel for 10 full years, then I might begin to believe what that cretin says."
