Afghanistan, Pakistan Angry at Newsweek

Muslim mobs have murdered innocent people, and Afghanistan and Pakistan want Newsweek to pay. I certainly don't think anyone should mistake Newsweek for journalism in the future, but the idea that it should pay for this murderous madness is just one more manifestation of the collective unwillingness to hold Muslims accountable for their actions.

From AP, with thanks to the Constantinopolitan Irredentist:

KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) - Afghanistan's government said Tuesday that Newsweek should be held responsible for damages caused by deadly anti-American demonstrations after the magazine alleged U.S. desecration of the Quran, and it suggested that foreign forces may have helped turn protests violent.

Pakistan joined the international criticism of the magazine's article and said Newsweek's apology and retraction were "not enough."...

The article sparked protests in several other Muslim countries.

Afghan presidential spokesman Jawed Ludin said Newsweek's retraction Monday was a "positive step" toward clearing up concern about the report.

"But at the same time, we feel angered at the way this story has been handled," Ludin told a news conference Tuesday. "It's only fair to say at this stage that Newsweek can be held responsible for the damages caused by their story."...

Pakistani officials also expressed anger that the magazine got its story wrong.

"Just an apology is not enough. They should think 101 times before publishing news that hurts hearts," Information Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said in Islamabad.

In Saudi Arabia, the country's top religious authority Tuesday condemned the alleged desecration and urged an investigation into the report.

Grand Mufti Adul-Aziz al-Sheik issued his statement a day after Newsweek retracted its report, saying a full inquiry still should be launched "to alleviate the sorrow that befell Muslims."

"We condemn and denounce this criminal act against Muslims' most sacred item," al-Sheik said.

From the article above
"Just an apology is not enough. They should think 101 times before publishing news that hurts hearts," a Jihadi nut quacked.

Notice the use of the number 101. Kinda similar to "Room 101" from an Orwellian nightmare.... Maybe Orwell, old chap, was subconsiously picking up 'islamic holy numbers' while writing his hellish masterpiece....
/just a thought

What better group of people to know better then to believe the media and what they read. Islam has been using the media in the US as a tool of propaganda for years.

That is ok, go ahead and attack the media and see if they continue to be on your side. Can the writers at "NEWS WEAK" say "Van Geough"?

And do they not understand that the criminal act is not in the article written, but the result of their rage that they take human life from one of their own and them blame a article.

Take accountability for your actions.

I look them stone in the face at their request considering the Christian arrests, churches burned, Jews/Christians killed, and for a loss of words and a person with education, the only thing that comes to mind (sorry) is F.U.

This article has gotten more response and condemnation from the muslim world then 9/11.

And we continue to look in the muslim world for a MODERATE voice. Hey islam, I can't hear the moderate voice, you are showing your true colors.

Anyone know how to email the diplomats of Saudi Arabia?

I would like to ask the Information Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, quoted above, what they do with the Bibles that are confiscated in Saudi Arabia?

Then I would like to forward his response to the media and Condi Rice (because she is very concerned about Holy books).

Do we have any business minded people in the audience?

I'd like to contemplate the koran sometimes in my private moments, and I get all itchy just thinking about doing it the hard way.

MR.SPENCER

I disagree with you on this one I think Newsweek should pay!!!

The reason is the Press or MSM has an adgenda and it is a dangours one it needs to know there are real things that happen for their LIES and maybe they would find out why America is so great and quit Bashing Her and getting People killed!!

The mulsums need to face their problems but if we are to win we need our team in tact and the MSM does not know they are a part of the Same team??

They are in the I mode but there is no I in Team!!

I agree with you on one point BUT NEWSWEEK MUST PAY FOR THE DEATHS IT CAUSED AND THE HARM IT INSIGHTED ALL FOR IT'S ADGENDA???

OMG the arrogance of these Saudis. Pray tell be "Grand" Mufti where are the Gitas and Bibles u confiscated, where are Hindu prayer books or icons of our faith that ur demented Mutawas have captured. Anyways English wisdom says

"People living in Glass houses shouldn't throw stones at others..."

Islam is supposed to be the religion of peace so where is all this violence and killings comming from? They make such a fuss about the Koran being desecrated but haven't they read that the Koran (supposedly) condems the kind of muderous behaviour they are displaying?

http://www.michnews.com/artman/publish/article_8249.shtml

Even if what was reported was true, the deaths and mayhem that followed shows the world the heart of Islam.

I believe every human has the right to protest if they feel an injustice was done to them. I have no problem with people being angry if they feel their religion was slammed. But I have a huge problem with the mob mentality that screams for the blood of individuals for either a perceived or real action by someone against their religion.

And we all watch as Islamists word wide are running rampant in the streets without even knowing for sure if the story they heard was true or not. It will not even matter to them that the story has been retracted. They now have a reason to Jihad, and Jihad they will. The truth matters not, the fire has been lit and the violent protests have begun. It also seems not to matter that some Muslims claim the Quran condemns killing and mayhem.

And people will die. Homes and property will be destroyed, lives ruined. And all due to a supposed blaspheming of the Quran.

I personally think we should throw a little gasoline on the fire. Burn a few Korans at Barnes and Noble.

We need to have every Muslim in the world in a blind raging Allagasm!

des·e·crate - To violate the sacredness of.

The media refers to the alleged flushing incident as a "desecration".

The term, desecrate, would have meaning only for those who find the Qur'an to be sacred now wouldn't it?

If the Qur'an is truly the word of Allah, then how can mere man desecrate it?

The fear of the fanatics at Qur'an desecration indicates a subliminal fear on their part that the "word" can actually be blotted out, made void and erased by the enemies of Allah.

The pillar of faith seems to have severe cracks at its base.

Sonofwalker, are you suggesting that we wipe our .... with Koranic Toilet paper?
How could you! How blasphemous! Shame on you!

I agree with Bill R, what we need is more such instances, and the anticipate irrational and violent Islamic reaction.

Maybe then the somnulent west will wake up and see Islam and Islamics for what they are, irrational and violent.

What aggravates me is Rice and Bush's reaction, they allowed themselves to be intimidated and apologized, and so did Newsday.

There is no law against flushing books or even defecating on them, no crime was committed, thus nothing to investigate or apologize for, and if the Muslims are too irrational and immature to deal with that, then let them explode in violence, it will only expose the face of Islam for what it is.

And as others have pointed out, the hypocrisy of it all, Islams routinely other symobls of non Muslim faith.

It is a common practise to burn American and Israeli flags, imagine their horror if there are protests and burning of the Green flag of Islam or the black flag of Shi'a or Qur'ans.

BillR,

Excellent idea, what better to show the world what America stands for, the right of people to assemble and express their opinion over any matter, whether religious or political, without fear of persecution. Protest islamic violence by burning the koran, with plenty of banners showing actual descration of Jewish, Christian, Hindu and Bhuddist sites carried out by governments of islamic nations or official sanctioned by such governments to show that these are not the acts of individuals acting outside the law but it is the law of those hellholes.

But the paper would have to be printed in Arabic or else it doesn't count.

Islam And The Quran
By Pete Fisher
MichNews.com
May 17, 2005
We have seen some disturbing instances lately concerning the perception of defilement of the Quran. First and foremost, I do not condone defilement of any holy book. It serves no purpose, and it is inconsiderate.

A MUST READ!!

However, do those who do such things merit death? This is something about Islam I have never been able to understand, from the death warrant on Salman Rushdie to others in Islamic nations who have been put to death for supposedly blaspheming Islam, to the riots we see around the world presently for an irresponsible act of journalism.

YES WHOS FAULT IS FOR MULSUMS KILLING MULSUMS ALL AROUND THE WORLD??

I believe every human has the right to protest if they feel an injustice was done to them. I have no problem with people being angry if they feel their religion was slammed. But I have a huge problem with the mob mentality that screams for the blood of individuals for either a perceived or real action by someone against their religion.

ME TOO!!

But Islam seems to differ greatly from the other great religions in this respect. The emails this last year I have received also solidify my feelings on this issue, because many have been quite biting and violent. Yes, I am a Christian. And many times in my life I have heard people bad mouth God. I have seen people desecrate the Bible. I have been told religion is for the weak and stupid. I have been told there is no God. I have laughed at, I have heard the skeptics rail on the Bible, and I have heard the worst of what man can think about God, Christianity, Judaism, and the Bible.

AS WE ALL HAVE BUT WE DIDN'T GO OUT AND KILL PEOPLE!!

We feel our God can not only defend Himself without our petty interference, but He is also the only worthy judge of our lives and actions. Though we may strive for a more holy lifestyle, we all recognize our weaknesses and attempt to better ourselves while creating no harm to others.

WHAT ABOUT MULSUMS??

And we all watch as Islamists word wide are running rampant in the streets without even knowing for sure if the story they heard was true or not. It will not even matter to them that the story has been retracted. They now have a reason to Jihad, and Jihad they will. The truth matters not, the fire has been lit and the violent protests have begun. It also seems not to matter that some Muslims claim the Quran condemns killing and mayhem. They will simply take the other verses that condone those actions and run with them.

And people will die. Homes and property will be destroyed, lives ruined. And all due to a supposed blaspheming of the Quran. Now I may be wrong, but my idea of blasphemy was that a god or entity had to be spoken of irreverently, not a book or religion itself.

But Fatwah have been issued worldwide because someone either blasphemed Islam, the Quran, Muhammad, or Allah. People have been murdered for speaking against a religion that I have been told hundreds of times is NOT a religion of compulsion. They have been ostracized for not believing, killed for leaving, and beheaded for Islam or their take against it.

And I am not talking about the period of the Crusades, or any other time in history where the medieval mind ruled. I am talking now, 2005 in an age of information, an age of education, mass media, telecommunications, and on and on. And I see not one Western Muslim entity who claims Islam is peace over in Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, Iran, Sudan, or anywhere en masse in a huge effort to educate their brethren in what they consider a peaceful religion. I have heard a spattering of imams decrying terror and murder, but with 2 billion people worldwide, one might think perhaps that the story we keep hearing of terrorists being the minority in Islam is nothing more than a fairy tale.

If Allah needs his people to kidnap for him, murder for him, riot for him, and if the Quran needs to be shown to the world as a Holy book using the same methods, how will this world ever see Islam, Allah, and the Quran as anything else than a bloody entity?

Yet the so called peaceful Muslims try and talk to those who are not Muslim, and try to teach us the more peaceful ways of Islam they claim exist. But it is not us who need to hear these things. We are not the ones kidnapping, murdering, raping, beheading, all the while screaming out the name of our God. Governments may do these things. But I do not see people screaming out the name of Jesus or Krishna, or Buddha while performing deplorable acts of evil.

It is Islam itself that needs to be educated by you peaceful Muslims. Not the rest of us. We see what we see, and we know what we know, and whether you believe it or not, many of us have read the Quran and felt it was not for us and perhaps chose another religion. But our former religion did not have us killed or ordered to be put to death for leaving. Some have even left our religions and become Satanists. Sad as it may be to the followers of the God of Abraham, we believe they have their choice and will face God Himself. We truly believe our God is strong enough and holy enough to defend Himself and to rightly judge others. He does not want us to, or need us to commit acts of evil to show the world He is Holy and Just. Some will mock Him, mock the Bible, and our ways. But we have no right to slaughter those who do so.

Muslims, teach your own. Go into the world and put your faith to the test. Go to the aforementioned nations and get on those loud speakers yourselves. Decry those actions and diffuse this madness through your teachings and outreach to Muslims who have been deceived. And perhaps the world will believe your message when we see that happen.

WHAT ABOUT THE MULSUM ANTI TERRORISM RALLY IN DC THIS WEEK-END HOW MANY SHOWED UP???

I LOVE THIS GUY HE HAS HIT THE NAIL ON THE HEAD!!!

Or are you afraid perhaps that those passages they use from the Quran can not be debated? And perhaps by teaching peace and love, compassion and truth, that you yourself may be the next blasphemer and sentenced to death?

I often wonder why those who proclaim peace in Islam never seem to take the message to where the violence is. They simply seem to try and tell us that the atrocities we see in the name of Islam are not what Islam espouses.

But I say, images and actions speak louder than opinion. Until you allow Allah to fight his own battles, your people and religion will always be suspect.

ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN OPINIONS AND GUESS WHAT WE CAN'T HEAR YOU???

In fact as black hood with a headband, say a US flag or maybe a 1st Cav scarf as a headband, all black clothes, a trash can outside of Barnes and Noble in the parking lot, a match and then maybe drop the book once or twice before burning the pages.

Well it could be true

BillR....

I believe the term would be "smok'em if you gott'em". It would make a great T-shirt! On a side note I completely agree. Incenerate.

Another would be a placement in public bathrooms and urnals.

And to think, this is all it took to get their attention. I figured soldiers and tanks would get their attention, but instead it was a toilet that really pissed them off.

I've tried letters to the editor to no avail, I've written my Congressmen and Senators, I've written to the President, I screamed and yelled!

Guess It's time to copy the extremists with a black hood, a Koran and Black Muslim flag of war.

Barnes and Noble here I come!

alaskan1000:

Haven't heard that little ditty for a few years - "Smoke'm if ya gote'm" - Sounds like you've walked the walk.

I got's to find a black hood.

I'd like Newseek to pay for its treasonous behavior, but I want Westerners-not Muslims-to make Newseek pay.

This psychotic response by the Muslim world to the rumor of a Qur'an desecration illustrates the pagan roots of Islam. The Qur'an is their idol. They kill for it.

I don't think Newsweek has anything to apologize for. For one, the story is probably true; second, even if false, sourcing errors do occur from time to time (perhaps the Bush admin. should explain some of their errors, like those alleged WMDs in Iraq..oh, forget that!), and that's the way it is. You own up, and move on. If the errors were intentional, that would be one thing (like, uh, those pesky WMDs), but I doubt that was the case with Newsweek. And, the Moslems have only themselves to thank for their deaths. I do have a big problem with anyone in our government going on about sacredness or holiness. As far as the US Govt is concerned, nothing is, or should be, sacred or holy, in a religious sense. If Moslems find the writings of that dead pedophile holy, that's their business. For me, they are just toilet paper and birdcage liner. Our government has no business becoming handmaidens to the Wasabis. BUT, and I've said this before, this is just one more consequence of our involvement with these people. We should leave that area, after killing OBH, and the sooner the better and stop pretending they are anything but the evil creatures they are.

I'm only recently learning about all of this-mostly after accidently watching one of the beheading videos and wondering how a human being could do this to another. Just curious. Do we still have the right to defile a koran? Say in front of or close to a mosque? Have we ever had that right? Would that be a crime now or something you could be sued or "lose your head" for? I'm certainly not planning to or advocating doing it but what would happen if anything. They burn our flags and religious items-probably in our own country. How would the "tolerance" factor sway? Forgive my ignorance if this is a stupid question...

Hurry Summer: Just my opinion, but you can "defile" the Koran, the Bible, the Torah or any book. You can rip it up and toss it in the trash can (don't litter). You can (legally) also burn a U.S. flag. Of course, people (and speaking very broadly that includes Moslems as well) might object, but legally, no problem, apart from violating other laws, like litter, burning things, etc. From the point of view of the U.S., the Koran is just the same as Harry Potter, but of course, less interesting and more hate-filled (like Mein Kampf).

People, come on.....

it is not Newsweek, it is "News weak".

Hurry Summer...

The liberal left had the law changed advacating freedom of speech that allows for the burning of the American flag.

So, I would love to see the liberal left say there is something wrong with burning a koran. The left can't have it both ways (well not on everything).

So get out the bar-b-q's and have some great pork on the bar-b.

harry summer,

In the USA, you have the absolute right as an individual under the 1st amendment to burn the koran, the Torah, the Bible, the US flag, the Constitution of the US, the Declaration of Independence or a bra in a public forum in a peaceful demonstration without intent to incitement to violence. This right is vested in the people and not granted by the government, ergo, can not be taken away. That is why the government can not take away the right of, e.g., the American nazi party to hold "peaceful" marches and demonstrations in Skokie, IL., a suburb of Chicago with a substantial Jewish population. You can hold up any banner you want showing killing in the name of allah as proscribed in the koran or tear and burn pages from the koran in front of any mosque in the USA. No one can stop you from making paper airplanes or sheets of toilet paper from pages of the koran.

John Belushi (God rest his soul), in the 1980 movie The Blues Brothers, had a great line when Jake and Elwood came across a demonstration in a park, "Illinois nazi's, I hate Illinois nazi's." Virtually every scene in that movie had some politically incorrect critique of religion, race and politics. If he were still alive, just think what wonderful critiques he would have with islam today.

Lisa,

"If he were still alive, just think what wonderful critiques he would have with islam today."

It is nice to think so, but somehow I doubt it. How many Hollywood folks even mention Islam, let alone critique it?

NEWSWEEK LIED AND PEOPLE DIED!!

I agree that Newsweek doesn't have anything to apologize for, however an apology to our troops over there and to Americans everywhere who will find traveling abroad an even more tense of an experience than it already is would be good.

As for the countries whose inhabitants took to the streets in a murderous rage, Newsweek would do well to point out the many times a bible or another religion's scriptures have been burned or desecrated in some way and the rest of the world didn't freak out, but rather all collectively looked on in amazement. They are living by double standards and they can't have it both ways.

Or can they? Newsweek will bow down to the pressures and apologize to the Muslim world and they'll simply go on about their business of hating the west.

What should be done? Should we send out masses of emails supporting Newsweek and sending them hundreds upon thousands of links to articles about atrocities done by Muslims to other religious books, artifacts and people? This is Newsweek we're talking about here ...they should already be doing this kind of stuff! They could really gain some respect if they wrote an article in response to the Muslims the entire world over by not just not apologizing, but turning the tables and shining the light right back on them and grilling them hard about their own actions and putting their feet to the fire.

We need to start gathering evidence on all the dececrations against Bibles, and Torahs that are perpetrated by Muslims everyday. Actually I think we have become to used to the way the Muslim world treats Christians and Jews, since the Quran itself defines the Bible as being corrupted and Mohammed said the Quran corrected that. And of course the Bible was written by Jews. And here we are apologizing to a totalitarian society who defaces, demeans, and denegrates Christiandom at every turn. The responce of the media to the revelations of Newsweek reminds me of a weak parent trying to calm an out of control brat instead of applying the tough love that he really needs.

like those alleged WMDs in Iraq..oh, forget that!), and that's the way it is. You own up, and move on. If the errors were intentional, that would be one thing (like, uh, those pesky WMDs), but I doubt that was the case with Newsweek.

US reveals Iraq nuclear operation
The US has revealed that it removed more than 1.7 metric tons of radioactive material from Iraq in a secret operation last month.
"This operation was a major achievement," said US Energy Secretary Spencer Abraham in a statement.
He said it would keep "potentially dangerous nuclear materials out of the hands of terrorists".
Along with 1.77 tons of enriched uranium, about 1,000 "highly radioactive sources" were also removed.

Spinning the Sarin
Tests confirm that artillery shell that blew up in Iraq did indeed contain sarin--between three quarts' and a gallon's worth, Fox News reports. The New York Times buries the story on page 11 (something about weddings in Massachusetts led the front page, bizarrely enough), and it's shot through with pro-Saddam spin:
The discovery of the sarin-filled shell appears to offer some of the most substantial evidence to date that Mr. Hussein did not destroy all of the banned chemical agent, as he claimed before the war last year. It provides some solace, and possibly fresh leads, to the American teams that have been conducting an otherwise fruitless search for the weapons for more than a year.

Sarin Nerve Agent Bomb Explodes in Iraq

Monday May 17, 2004 4:01 PM
By CHRIS TORCHIA
Associated Press Writer
BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) - A roadside bomb containing sarin nerve agent exploded near a U.S. military convoy, the U.S. military said Monday. Two people were treated for ``minor exposure,'' but no serious injuries were reported.
``The Iraqi Survey Group confirmed today that a 155-millimeter artillery round containing sarin nerve agent had been found,'' said Brig. Gen. Mark Kimmitt, the chief military spokesman in Iraq. ``The round had been rigged as an IED (improvised explosive device) which was discovered by a U.S. force convoy.
``A detonation occurred before the IED could be rendered inoperable. This produced a very small dispersal of agent,'' he said.

IRAQI URANIUM NOW IN U.S. LABS
The good news: U.S. troops and scientists have taken a heap of radioactive material out of insecure locations in Iraq. The bad news: they may have brought the stuff to insecure locations here in America.
"In a secret operation, the United States last month removed from Iraq nearly two tons of uranium and hundreds of highly radioactive items that could have been used in a so-called dirty bomb," the AP reports.
"The nuclear material was secured from Iraq's former nuclear research facility and airlifted out of the country to an undisclosed Energy Department laboratory for further analysis, the department said in a statement."

Associate Press
OAK RIDGE, Tenn. -- Experts from the Energy Department's nuclear weapons and research complex in Tennessee played a ''key role'' in removing radioactive material from Iraq that could be used in a dirty bomb, U.S. Rep. Zach Wamp said.
Energy Secretary Spencer Abraham announced in Washington on Tuesday that DOE and the Defense Department removed 1.77 metric tons of low-enriched uranium and about 1,000 highly radioactive sources from a former nuclear research facility in Iraq.
The material was flown to the United States on June 23.

How Chinagate Led to 9/11
By Jean Pearce
FrontPageMagazine.com | May 25, 2004
As the 9/11 Commission tries to uncover what kept intelligence agencies from preventing September 11, it has overlooked two vital factors: Jamie Gorelick and Bill Clinton. Gorelick, who has browbeaten the current administration, helped erect the walls between the FBI, CIA and local investigators that made 9/11 inevitable. However, she was merely expanding the policy Bill Clinton established with Presidential Decision Directive 24. What has been little underreported is why the policy came about: to thwart investigations into the Chinese funding of Clinton’s re-election campaign, and the favors he bestowed on them in return.
In April, CNSNews.com staff writer Scott Wheeler reported that a senior U.S. government official and three other sources claimed that the 1995 memo written by Jamie Gorelick, who served as the Clinton Justice Department’s deputy attorney general from 1994 to 1997, created "a roadblock" to the investigation of illegal Chinese donations to the Democratic National Committee. But the picture is much bigger than that. The Gorelick memo, which blocked intelligence agents from sharing information that could have halted the September 11 hijacking plot, was only the mortar in a much larger maze of bureaucratic walls whose creation Gorelick personally oversaw.

Report: U.S suspects Iraqi WMD in Lebanon's Bekaa Valley
Tuesday, August 26, 2003
U.S. intelligence suspects Iraq's weapons of mass destruction have finally been located.
Unfortunately, getting to them will be nearly impossible for the United States and its allies, because the containers with the strategic materials are not in Iraq.
Instead they are located in Lebanon's heavily-fortified Bekaa Valley, swarming with Iranian and Syrian forces, and Hizbullah and ex-Iraqi agents, Geostrategy-Direct.com will report in Wednesday's new weekly edition.
U.S. intelligence first identified a stream of tractor-trailer trucks moving from Iraq to Syria to Lebaon in January 2003. The significance of this sighting did not register on the CIA at the time

UN inspectors: Saddam shipped out WMD before war and after

Friday, June 11, 2004
The United Nations has determined that Saddam Hussein shipped weapons of mass destruction components as well as medium-range ballistic missiles before, during and after the U.S.-led war against Iraq in 2003.
The UN Monitoring, Verification and Inspection Commission briefed the Security Council on new findings that could help trace the whereabouts of Saddam's missile and WMD program.
The briefing contained satellite photographs that demonstrated the speed with which Saddam dismantled his missile and WMD sites before and during the war. Council members were shown photographs of a ballistic missile site outside Baghdad in May 2003, and then saw a satellite image of the same location in February 2004, in which facilities had disappeared.
UNMOVIC acting executive chairman Demetrius Perricos told the council on June 9 that "the only controls at the borders are for the weight of the scrap metal, and to check whether there are any explosive or radioactive materials within the scrap," Middle East Newsline reported.
"It's being exported," Perricos said after the briefing. "It's being traded out. And there is a large variety of scrap metal from very new to very old, and slowly, it seems the country is depleted of metal."
"The removal of these materials from Iraq raises concerns with regard to proliferation risks," Perricos told the council. Perricos also reported that inspectors found Iraqi WMD and missile components shipped abroad that still contained UN inspection tags.
He said the Iraqi facilities were dismantled and sent both to Europe and around the Middle East. at the rate of about 1,000 tons of metal a month. Destionations included Jordan, the Netherlands and Turkey.
The Baghdad missile site contained a range of WMD and dual-use components, UN officials said. They included missile components, reactor vessel and fermenters – the latter required for the production of chemical and biological warheads.
"It raises the question of what happened to the dual-use equipment, where is it now and what is it being used for," Ewen Buchanan, Perricos's spokesman, said. "You can make all kinds of pharmaceutical and medicinal products with a fermenter. You can also use it to breed anthrax."

WSJ: Precursor WMDs Stockpiled in Iraq
Far from being an isolated incident, yesterday's discovery in Iraq of an artillery shell filled with Sarin gas is just the tip of the iceberg of recently uncovered evidence that Saddam Hussein had a weapons of mass destruction program that was fully operational until the U.S. invaded in March 2003.
Tuesday's Wall Street Journal reports that the U.S. inspectors have found within the last few months "warehouses full of commercial and agricultural chemicals," which, if mixed and packaged properly, "could quickly become chemical weapons."
U.S. forces in Karabala have also recently uncovered 55-gallon drums loaded with chemicals that were said to be "pesticide," some of which were stored in what military sources described as a "camouflaged bunker complex."
Why camouflage insect spray?
The alleged agricultural site just happened to be located alongside a military ammunition dump, reports Insight Magazine.
According to the Journal, Iraq Survey Group head Charles Duelfer recently told Congress that some of Saddam's WMD facilities were newly built and contained "stockpiled" raw materials that would have allowed him to "produce such weapons on a moment's notice."
There's more.
In early April, Jordanian authorities foiled an al Qaida plot to kill 80,000 people in chemical weapons attack in Amman.
According to one of the conspirators whose confession was broadcast on Jordanian TV, al Qaida WMD specialist Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, who was last seen in a chilling video beheading Nick Berg, trained and outfitted the WMD attackers in pre-war Iraq.
Like notorious terrorists Abu Nidal and Abu Abbas, Zarqawi enjoyed sanctuary in Baghdad, courtesy of Saddam.
Jordanian TV coverage of the Zarqawi plot included video footage of hundreds of gallon jugs containing chemical weapons that had been intercepted 75 miles from the Syriian border, where much of Saddam's pre-war WMD stockpile is believes to have been hidden.

Tests Confirm Sarin Gas in Baghdad Bomb
NewsMax.com Wires
Tuesday, May 25, 2004
WASHINGTON – Comprehensive testing has confirmed the presence of the chemical weapon sarin in the remains of a roadside bomb discovered this month in Baghdad, a defense official said Tuesday.
The determination, made by a laboratory in the United States that the official would not identify, verifies what earlier, less-thorough field tests had found: The bomb was made from an artillery shell designed to disperse the deadly nerve agent on the battlefield.
The origin of the shell remains unclear, and finding that out is a priority for the U.S. military, the defense official said, speaking on the condition of anonymity.
Some analysts worry the 155-millimeter artillery shell, found rigged as a bomb on May 15, might be part of a larger stockpile of Iraqi chemical weapons that insurgents can now use. But no more have turned up, and several military officials have said the shell might have been an older one that predated the 1991 Gulf War.
It likewise is not known whether the bombers knew they had a chemical weapon. Military officials have said the shell bore no labels to indicate it was anything except a normal explosive shell, the type used to make scores of roadside bombs in Iraq.

Radioactive Missiles Found In Iraq
Charles R. Smith
Tuesday, Mar. 9, 2004
U.S. Army troops operating at a former Iraqi air base recently made a startling discovery: Russian made missiles marked with radioactive warning signs.
Army bomb disposal troops confirmed using Geiger counters that the missiles are indeed radioactive.
The discovery is not, however, considered the long sought after "smoking gun" of Iraqi weapons of mass destruction.
The missiles appear to be part of a cache of weapons supplied to Iraq before the 1991 Gulf war.
The Russian made R-60, NATO code name AA-8 Aphid, air-to-air missiles are part of a huge stockpile of former Iraqi Air Force munitions uncovered in over a dozen concrete bunkers
The Russian made missiles are over 6 feet long and each carries 1.6 kilograms or about 3.5 pounds of radioactive uranium wrapped around a high explosive warhead.
The uranium is not pure enough nor in large enough quantity to be a nuclear warhead but it is dangerous enough, as you can see from the label
U.S. bomb experts noted the R-60 warheads are similar in design and content to a so-called "dirty bomb" that could contaminate a small area with radioactive materials.

NOW MAYBE YOU LIVE IN A BUBBLE BUT HAVING YOUR HEAD IN THE SAND WILL JUST GET YOUR ASS SHOT OFF!!!

"This is Newsweek we're talking about here ...they should already be doing this kind of stuff! They could really gain some respect if they wrote an article in response to the Muslims the entire world over by not just not apologizing, but turning the tables and shining the light right back on them and grilling them hard about their own actions and putting their feet to the fire."- illustr8rg8r

Illustr8rg8r, as far as I'm concerned that's the ONLY way Newsweek could ever regain its credibility.

Hey Newsweek! This is an opportunity!!

Newsweek should send complimentary Bibles to the families of those killed by lunatic Muslim rioters.

And then the chiefs of this rag need to apologize to their audience for incompetent journalistic practices, then fire the editor(s) involved in vetting the 'Koran flush' material (insufficiently), and then this magazine should learn NOT to undermine their own country, the only source for the defense of The Freedom of the Press in the world, with maliciously idiotic and unverified stories.

Did they ever do a pro-U.S. story on the fact that the U.S. military supplied the terrorists in Gitmo WITH the damned Korans in the first place?

Of course not.

Newsweek is trying to weaken and erode the U.S.'s current strategic efforts, as much of the delusional press in the West seems to be bent on doing. Unaware that they themselves -as paragons of 'free speech' -would be the first heads chopped off if those whom they tacitly support (the jihadists) should come to power.

But, meanwhile, as Newsweek's staff feels real bad, I wonder: why the hell IS the U.S. government (through the military) supplying anyone with religious materials? Isn't that a violation of the Constitutional provision about NOT promoting the establishment of a religion?

The only thing the Gitmo prisoners should have is one bullet each.

Soon.

End of the festering source of all of these dismal eruptions of disinformation.

And an object lesson to those who try to kill us.

Then:

The Muslims should apologize to the world for being irrational, violent imbeciles who murder innocent people for the wrong information (AKA "The Qu'ran").

What should the sane people of the world do after seeing this unpleasant glimpse into Islam's nature?

FLUSH A KORAN FOR FREEDOM TODAY.

I think both Newsweak and the Muslim world are to blame.

Newsweak is to blame for sensationalist reporting. They should be made to pay reparations to the victims of the riots. Even if it sends them broke (this would not be a bad thing, would it?). The Mufti's and clerics who incited these illiterates to riot should also be forced to make amends.

The sooner the media is held to account, the sooner will it be a forward step in the war on Islam.

"Newsweek should send complimentary Bibles to the families of those killed by lunatic Muslim rioters"

Well done Bigsleep - well done!

It would also be a good story for the journalists too - as they film their own deaths.

Your right freedom 1, Newsweek should be fair and balanced (YA SURE)--- they should do a follow-up story on the desecration perpetrated by muslims against Christians, and Jews every day. They should send the same reporters who did the Gtmo story over too Saudia Arabia to interview some of those Waahabist Sheikhs', and clerics' on how they treat Christians over there and what they do with all those Bibles they our confiscating? They should really go over there and beat the street until they come up with some good answers from the muttafas'. And if we dont't get some good answers then we need to take to the streets and riot and demand that all the perpetrators of any Christian BIBLE desecration be sent over for prosecution to the US and be given a death sentence----WHOOPS WRONG RELIGION! -- SORRY --Now that would be the "Religion of Peace" that can say that-- at least that's what are President called it. Boy has he got it wrong there. ---- Oh and don't forget to take your Bible with you. You could say; maybe get a "fair and balanced" demonstration on how our Friends the Saudis deal with the Bible in their country----- You know bring one of those hidden cameras with you--- wouldnt that be great story----Hey 60 minutes where are you???

Man Charged With Falsely Accusing Relative of Being Al Qaeda
Tuesday, May 17, 2005

NEWARK, N.J. — A man involved in a family feud was charged Tuesday with falsely accusing a relative of being an Al Qaeda member plotting to blow up the "British embassy" in Toronto (search), the FBI said.
Bukhtiar Abdul Latif Katchi (search), 34, was arrested at his home in Los Angeles and charged with making a false bomb threat, according to authorities.
The relative, who was not identified, lived in Plainfield, N.J., and the two had been quarreling over land in Pakistan, said Steven Siegel, an FBI special agent in the Newark (search) office.
Katchi faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted. He was being held without bond pending a hearing Thursday. He has agreed to go to New Jersey to face the charge there, said U.S. attorney's spokesman Thom Mrozek.

Trial Begins for Alleged Beslan Terrorist
Tuesday, May 17, 2005

VLADIKAVKAZ, Russia — Survivors of the Beslan (search) school raid and relatives of the dead crammed into a courtroom Tuesday to catch a glimpse of the only man to go on trial for the terror attack that ended in the deaths of more than 330 hostages.
If convicted, Kulayev could get up to life in prison. Survivors and others have called for the death penalty, but Russia imposed a moratorium on the death penalty in 1996 to join the Council of Europe.

Iran, Iraq Hold Historic Border-Security Talks
Tuesday, May 17, 2005

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Iran's (search) foreign minister made a historic trip to Baghdad on Tuesday, pledging to secure his country's borders to stop militants from entering Iraq and saying the "situation would have been much worse" if Tehran were actually supporting the insurgency as the U.S. has claimed.
Iranian envoy Kamal Kharrazi's (search) trip — two days after Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice paid a surprise visit to support the war-ravaged country's political process — was the highest-level visit by an official from any of Iraq's six neighboring countries since Saddam Hussein's ouster two years ago.
Kharrazi, who held talks with Iraqi Prime Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari (search), President Jalal Talabani and Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari on a day of deepening sectarian violence, vowed that his country was committed to supporting Iraq's political and economic reconstruction and would do all it could to improve security conditions.

Hoo boy. The islamists aren't exactly starting to like us even though we've been handling their book with the gloves and all and not sawing their heads off when we catch them. In fact, if we could get an accurate poll, their "radicals" would include over 80 percent of muslims I'd bet. Millions of ignorant people being fed a daily diet of official, allah approved, "holy koran" driven hatred.

Meanwhile, our prevailing Western PC culture is so insanely tolerant that it tolerates an insanely intolerant culture bent on our annhilation. God bless us all - we need a miracle.

Interesting segment on O'Reilly tonight about Islamofascists and the events in the middle east connected to the News"Weak" story. O'Reilly asked what are we supposed to think about people running around screaming and yelling about a book and a story that turned out not to be true. O'Reilly said people are getting tired of it. O'Reilly said Muslims blame the US for their problems but their problems are caused by other Muslims and we have nothing to do with it. The Muslim apologist on the show said the answer to the problem with Muslims is to close Gitmo. O'Reilly told her forget it cause Gitmo is not going to close because the American people want Jihadists there. It was an amazing segment and reflected just how sick of Islamofascists people are. Be sure to catch the repeat of O'Reilly tonight you'll love it.

Qu'ran, Schmu'ran.

What should be flushed down the toilet are the bits and pieces of Islamofascists who want us dead and refuse to give up any information about their co-conspirators in terrorist plots.

Interrogations should never last more than about a minute and a half, and those shredders used by Saddam for his fun and games, could not possibly be put to more poetically just use.

Barring that, a sufficiently large wood chipper.

I was listening to a conservative talk show host ( sometimes sits in for Rush) who has forgotten the conservative idea of being responsible for your own actions. He is hartilly bashing Newsweek and not holding the rioters and murderers responsible at all. He said that the Newsweek responsibles should be turned over to the Afghans...what a ghastly idea...is he ready to watch the beheading video? Would he be proud enough to show it to his children? I would never turn an American, Jew, Christian,or any non-muslim over to those beastly demons, no matter what they did. This is sick stuff...

Take one mosque, in iraq , an insurgent as usual percherched up in the minaret sniping at peace keepers, the koran is down stairs and he is inviting the peace keepers to fire at the mosque were is the logic or the wisdom in this .Sounds like pure hatred to me

Catherine:

If there's any party to whom Newsweek may be liable in tort, it's the US government and its various agents in Gitmo, which was defamed, and not the families of the 16 or 17 people who died at the hands of their insanely overwrought co-religionists. The purpose in rushing to press with this uncorroborated story was clearly to embarrass the US government and nothing more and has doubtless caused all sorts of harm to the cause of fighting Islamic terrorism.

The dead Afgans and Pakistanis are the victims of the Saudi-supported Wahhabist preachers who promote this kind of irrationality in order to wield absolute control over them.
