Michael Dennin of Amnesty International USA explores the human rights community's strange silence on jihad activity:
On January 28, 2005 Freedom House's Center for Religious Freedom released its report "Saudi Publications on Hate Ideology Fill American Mosques," revealing materials propagated by official Saudi government and religious institutions advocating the murder of apostates and homosexuals, hatred against non-Muslims on account of their religious beliefs and the subjugation of women. These materials were collected and translated by Muslims and other experts who expressed concern regarding the presence of these xenophobic, hate-filled publications in Islamic institutions and their negative impact on religious life in the United States. While the sheer audacity of our Saudi "allies" to propagate these morally repugnant publications on American soil may have come as a shock to some, no less disconcerting was the failure of the US offices of Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International to join Freedom House Chairman of the Board R. James Woolsey in condemning the Saudi Arabian authorities for advocating and propagating an ideology of hatred that has "no place in a nation founded on religious freedom and toleration." Given that any advocacy of religious hatred that constitutes incitement to discrimination, hostility or violence is prohibited under Article 18 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and Article 20 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, the unwillingness of HRW and AIUSA to respond to these human rights violations appears to be yet another consequence of the increasing politicization and ideological drift that is undermining the effectiveness, reliability and credibility of these organizations, as well as the defense and promotion of human rights here in the United States. Nowhere is this more obvious than the failure of these NGOs to address the issue of Terrorism, which is arguably the American public's most pressing human rights concern since the terrorist attacks on New York and Washington on September 11, 2001 (a recent National Election Studies report reveals that American voters think that Terrorism has been the most important issue facing the United States over the last four years). Despite the catastrophic loss of life and the continuing threat terrorists and their support networks pose to the human rights of US citizens, Human Rights Watch and Amnesty USA still refuse to consider the American people's chief concern an issue worthy of their prioritization. On the other hand, HRW considers "Opportunism Watch: Repression in the Name of Anti-Terrorism" a Global Issue, and Amnesty USA includes "The "War on Terror"" on its Topics list. The priorities of these organizations sends a clear message to the perpetrators and victims of terrorist violence - the responses to Terrorism are a major human rights issue, but Terrorism is not. Certainly, the terrorists and their supporters must be delighted with this arrangement - despite their absolute contempt and disregard for human rights, terrorist networks have unwittingly become the beneficiaries of a de facto alliance between themselves and human rights establishments that waste no opportunity to anathematize US security initiatives while conversely ignoring, for all intensive purposes, the words and deeds of terrorists and the people who incite and finance their hatred and violence.
Despite the concerns that have been raised for years regarding the transformation of these human rights organizations into Leftist political action groups, both HRW and AIUSA appear to be moving towards increasing, not decreasing, politicization and ideological drift. Furthermore, there appears to be no inclination on the parts of these organizations to address the disconnect between their agendas and the concerns of the American people. While it may be a bit much to expect the ideologues at Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International USA to disabuse themselves of their own particular certitudes and blindness to bias, it should not be asking too much of them to respond to the needs of the people whose interests they claim to defend.
Amnesia is a sucker for Saudi money. Any question?
Is it possible to open the books to check who makes the biggest 'donations?'
Isn't this a sort of declaration of war? Somehow, we need to send these Saudi backstabbers a harsh message. Any ideas?
DC:
The only thing the Saudis fear (other than the day when the oil runs out) are the jihaddists who want to overthrow them. This might tempt one to think that we should therefore support any opponents of the government of the KSA (the way the US supported the Taliban to oust the Soviets from Afghanistan), but if the last several decades have shown us anything, it's that it is extremely dangerous to play the "my enemy's enemy is my friend" game.
Very unsettling to know that we have to do business with the entity with whom we are at war and that we can't openly declare war. We even have to appear cozy with them as did Bush at a recent meeting on his Crawford, Texas ranch.
This is not rocket science. We are at war with SA through their clients, the jihadists. We must buy their commodity, oil, or our lives will come to a screeching halt, an untenable situation. The Saudis claim to have their oil fields rigged for destruction if we move on them, and oil producers, such as Venezuela, Mexico, and Russia are becoming more hostile toward us.
Our leadership has kept us tied to fossil fuels for too long and the oil and auto industries have buried competing technologies. They are complicit in our dilemma.
What to do? Unfortunately nothing will happen overnight, but we need to move to alternative energy and technologies p.d.q.!

That's all there is to it. The world has to:
1. Promote nuclear energy.
2. Hotjump hybrid automobile technologies.
3. Same for rechargeable battery technologies.
4. Implement solar and wind energy technologies to the max.
5. As these technologies begin going mainstream, penalize the use of fossil fuel users with gradually higher taxes.
Big benefits to the entire planet.
Er........ except, of course, to some sand castle kingdoms.
Shy Guy:
1. Yes.
2 & 3 go together- Honda has a Very good electric car, can go 0-100 in seconds, travel better than 400 miles to the charge (as opposed to my car, which gets 350 miles to the 12-gallon tank). Unfortunately it costs 250,000 just for the batteries! Lots of work needed there.
4. My contention is that solar and wind will best be implemented on a family-by-family basis.
5. The big corps won't allow for it. Once oil is done (and let's not forget Canada's 300-year supply), they'll push more towards coal-to-oil tech. And keep passing on the costs to us of course. But it will end eventually.
Vulcan:
I don't dispute much of what you have written but note that it is possible to be a secular fanatic (think: Noam Chomsky) and they do have "morals", however they are inverted to the extreme, so they draw such outlandish moral equivalency arguments as to believe that Israel is an apartheid state, etc.
Is that the same James woolsey who is a former CIA director? Since when is a CIA operative ever concerned with human rights?
Sounds like some kind of scam...maybe not, but leapords dont change their spots. Unless they are politicians, in which case, they vassilate all over the place and change their spots regularly...
Every alternative energy source should be applied to get the US and the world off oil.
Even marijuana can be cheaply refined to run all your car systems. A high level, renewable resource thats over-looked or passed by because someone, somewhere, is scared to death that someone might smoke some of it. Better to have oil wars and kill millions than, perish the thought, cultivate pot for industrial use. Oil and chemical companys realized the competition of cannibis for energy purposes way back in 1933. Thats when they got around to criminalizing it and applying a $200 per oz tax.
Dont think they ever collected any of that, but it discouraged industrial developement...
Oil independence might be closer then we think. I just read an article about a high school boy in Durango, CO who created a model hydrogen car that runs on water, using a solar panel to start the coversion process.
I just hope that some smart american auto company jumps on this technology and runs with it.
Wouldn't it be amazing if a single high school student is responsible for ending the transfer of funds to terrorist organizations and countries!
Vulcan:
Re: Chomsky - LOL. Well stated.
I know this is an urelated post but its so incredible :
"A Toddler Accused of Adultery in Bangladesh"
Sounds familiar, a lamer version of Mahathir:
"the Jews invented socialism, communism, human rights and democracy so that persecuting them would appear to be wrong, so that they can enjoy equal rights with others."
The awakening of Muslims, had weakened the plot by America, by international Zionism and by other hidden forces on the planet implicated in a universal strategy which has the objective of fighting Islamic nations, which are a force of one and a half billion believers and with the large natural reserves.
So why should the muslism have human rights, its nothing more than a zionist tool to oppress muslims and make them stop raping little girls, behead eachother, etc, etc, etc,
Use oil by all means, but please make sure its got a flag of alberta on it, we need the revenues.
Vulcan and duh_swami:
You are far too kind to Chomsky, who is pathological way beyond the point where he is prepared to endorse Holocaust deniers. He was warned against aligning himself with Faurisson and Vielle Taupe by leading French leftists, then tried to pretend in publicly that he had never received such warning. Confronted over that lie by another professor, Chomsky's response was to shriek further denials and shove his accuser. Still, he is able to sell an enormous number of books and secure very lucrative speaking engagements to smug morons who are too dense to see through the fog he blows.
Some thougths that I want to share with you:
We must remember that our enemies (the Islamic fascists, and their ideological friends of the Western far- left and right) need our money and our moral flaws. So to win the war we must promote our enemies' economic bankrupcy, and air the moral bankrupcy of their ideological tenets, while at the same time boosting our economy, military and morality.
To give some more concrete suggestions:
1.- We need to keep up our military superiority over the states housing the Islamic totalitarianism, both from the defensive and the preemptive aspects. From a preemptive point of view, it's possible that in the following years we will require to overthrow more oil-rich Muslim thugocracies in order to survive. Moreover, and in any case, we need to improve our defense systems.
The continuous update of the American & allied military power is compulsory both from a moral and practical point of view. In that respect, the American military R&D needs a substantial improvement in its efficiency and practicality.
2.- At the economic level, we will probably need to develop new, extremely efficient energy sources in order to financially bankrupt the promoters of jihadism.
2.A.- If it's only America (or the West) who switches to other energy sources, in example, by promoting alternative energy sources or increasing oil taxes, or the switch is produced when the new energies are less efficient than fossil fuels, then:
- America and the Western economy will loose competitivity and consequently, military might, our fundamental tool of survival.
- Islamic terrorism would be alternatively funded by other (though less wealthy) oil-thirsty regions, say, Eurabia, China or Latin America or African states.
2.B.- Today, the practical alternatives to oil are nuclear and hydro. But the central problem we have is that transportation, perhaps the main logistic element in global economy, today requires oil, and it will be so at least in the following 5 to 10 years.
So the development of (minimum) one energy source cheaper than oil, as well as improved electrical energy storage technologies, would be central strategic advances in the current war. We also need to boost our energy R&D.
3.- In respect to ideology and morality: the highly “shadowy” and untangible nature of the non-governmental terrorist organizations (NGTO), from Islamic "charities", and recruiment and terror cells, can be contained, but not destroyed, by military means. The key point for their destruction is to sterilize their recruiting power, their ideological appeal. The NGTOs can only be effectively starved by airing their moral bankrupcy, at home and abroad.
In short, our most essential need today is to promote the truth about Islam and its nihilistic brotherhood with Leftist totalitarianism and Rightist fascism.. We need more Internet sites --Jihadwatch is the example in this respect-- and satellite channels (today we have zero!) centrally devoted to this strategical aspect: the physical war will be won together with the war on ideas.
G-d willing, our courage to defend truth and goodness will set us free.
Best wishes,
Joel Català
Robert, can you provide a link to Michael Dennin's statement,it would be extremely helpful to me, in my arguments with Muslims and dhimmis.
I googled "Michael Dennin" and Amnesty International and only got one hit, which was not relevant, Michael Dennin alone pulls up many hits, but it is just a name, and probably a name for thousands.
The Knee Jerk reaction to Chomsky and others on the left, and right are illustrative of how blind loyalty to an ideology or cause is counterproductive and only keeps the fires stoked.
I'm very familiar with Chomsky and his positions on things, I'm also familiar with the agenda of what is called The Right and it's spokesmen.
On some issues Chomsky has things to say of value, which we should listen to, on others like Israel and the Mid east he is full of fecal matter.
The same applies to paragons and spokesmen of the Right.
As an independent thinker, I find validity in many issues and concerns raised by both left and right and refuse to throw out the baby with the bath water by a knee jerk reaction.
It's counterproductive and against my, and our, own best interests.
I think I understand the left, where they are coming from and why they think the way they do, they really aren't much different from the right. They swallow ideology whole hog, and consider anything and everything that smells like it comes from the opposite camp as wrong, wrong headed.
Left and right need an education and need to take off ideological blinders.
Amnesty International does good work for our side also, they document and publicize the persecution of Christians and women and others in the muslim and other totalitarian societies.
I think the problem is that they, Chomsky and the left just do not understand Islam.
Damn few people do, in fact 99.99% of the posters hear didn't until 9-11 and good folk like Robert Spencer. I'll wager that most still don't understand Islam, because the limit of their knowledge is what they see posted on this forum, and in websites like Front Page or Town Hall, which while they have some good info, do not provide insight, nor can you quote or reference them in arguments with Muslims and their anti semitic supporters on the right and left.
I have over 50 books, by Muslims, ex Muslims, apostate Muslims and "anti Muslims", including their unholy scriptures, ten of which are waiting to be read, they give me the ammunition I need to engage in arguments with Muslims and their supporters, and I am effective. I've turned on the light in quite a few heads, that were lulled into somnulence by Islamic obfuscation.
And I don't see any of your Jihad Watchers, out on the internet and on other forums, taking on the Muslims and their dhimmis. I feel like I'm fighting a lone battle, not just against these dangerous morons, but also against the extreme and self righteous right.
It doesn't take any guts to jump in and add your voice to a Hallelujah chorus, or to gang up on an occassional Muslim on Jihad Watch.
It takes intestinal fortitude and intelligence to take on and hold your ground against batteries of Muslims and their dhimmis of left or right.
Anyway Chomsky and others of the left need to be educated, and their inconsistency and hypocrisy brought to their attention so blatantly that they can't ignore it.
I just emailed Democracy Now, trying to enlighten them that their reportage and commentary over the Qu'ran toilet is one side, inconsistent and plays into the hands of the likes of Al Qaeda, I also sent them a link from WND about the use of Bibles as toilet paper in Palestine.
Let's see what they do. I am polite, non inflammatory, I don't call names or insult, because that is counterproductive active, a turn off, besides being immature and irrational.
Waterdragon...I dont think I mentioned Chompsky...you gotta duh wrong guy...Chompski is no favorite of mine...

Their Lives: The Women Targeted by the Clinton Machine
By Candice E. Jackson
http://shop.wnd.com/store/item.asp?ITEM_ID=461
"Candice E. Jackson's rendition of my story is the most accurate portrayal of my experience with Bill Clinton that has yet been published. I appreciate her painstaking attempt to express the true nightmare Bill and Hillary put me through."
~Kathleen Willey
"Candice E. Jackson presents a complete chronological account of the events surrounding Bill Clinton's violent assault on me. People need to remember this side of Clinton before writing him up as a hero for women."
~Juanita Broaddrick
Read it all. Talk about women being abused in the workplace! And this is another one of KJ’s and Giaour's heerows. LOL
Vulcan says:
'In Egypt Islam was viewed as an excuse to do anything and everything. Beat your wife, Koran approves. Kill your daughters, Koran approves. Have sex with men, boys, animals, Koran approves. Hate Jews, Koran approves. Why study, Koran is the basis of all science, Why work, Koran approves stealing, lying, cheating and all sorts of other felonious deeds. Rape nine year old then have her put to death when she complains, Koran approves.'
As one who's travelled and lived in Mohammedan countries I can second that. Winston Churchill was equally informed when he passed judgement on the sons of Allah.
We must ensure that the message is driven home that we (in the West) have nothing in common with Mohammeds madness and to keep it from further infiltrating is simply to ensure our survival.
Wonder if this will help the libs get on the right side of this FIGHT it aint the Christians calling for their deaths but, mulsums???
Now marrage is one thing but Death is another???
Will this unite the Country against the Fight that is infront of us????
Again Samuel Adams is apropos:
"Contemplate the mangled bodies of your countrymen, and then say, 'What should be the reward of such sacrifices?' Bid us and our posterity bow the knee, supplicate the friendship, and plough, and sow, and reap, to glut the avarice of the men who have let loose on us the dogs of war to riot in our blood and hunt us from the face of the earth? If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude greater than the animating contest for freedom, go home from us in peace. We seek not your consul, nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains set lightly upon you; and may posterity forget ye were our countrymen."

The human rights groups (more like the take human rights away from the law abiding tax payer groups and give it to the criminal terrorist groups).
These groups are mostly anti white anti military and anti American. Most have members that are from racist and bigoted groups and are either communists, liberals, homosexuals, environmental psychos, hardcore drug addicts, alcoholics, wife beaters, child molesters, thieves, international larcenists (UN) and all other dregs of society operating under the guise of humanity but their intent is to overthrow the West.

Must be exausting to fight Islam and conservative rightists at the same time,
and be the only one doing it.
It wears me out just struggling into a sitting position...sick?, Disabled? No, just lazy.
My hats off to you...the "ordinary"
man would collapse under the pressure.
Giaour-
Arguing with those online who have a Muslo-zombie agenda and no room in their heads for a live thought to squeak in between the petrified piles of dead dogma they worship seems a colossal excercise in futility. (You might as well make bamboo B-17's with 'cargo cultists'.)
I tried it once or twice on several Muslim sites, but the rote regurgitations of rambling hate, quack Koranic condescension, laughable lies and stunning self-deluded drivel wears real thin, real fast.
But, if you think banging your mental head against the eternally impenetrable wall of the cyber Ka'aba out there connects with even one stray brain cell, go for it!
You're a better man than I am, Gunga Giaour.
my thoughts tonight
we the citizens of the US
have a responsibility that comes
with wealth and privilege,
a responsibility to help others,
a responsibility to maintain
those standards we set for a moral society.
Lying, cheating stealing, rape
and murder bring suffering
and lower the level of function
of any nation or civilization
from that of laws and agreements
to that of chaos and barbarism.
It is in following the "Golden Rule",
adhering to an inspired Constitution,
along with a vigorous pursuit
of the never-tried political experiment
of the melting pot, that has brought us here.
Other nations should not be forced
to follow our way. But if they consciously
with malice of forethought try to kill us
for not agreeing with them, rape our women,
steal and lie to us, these are our enemies.
precious giaour, don't worry, take heart.
each does in their own way
and every day there are more
who wake from their dream state.

I'm so sick of NGO's that only focus on the US and let the real culprits off the hook. These people are useful idiots par excellance!
Giaour~ you have my sympathies. I can only imagine what some of them are calling you:
'Fundamentalist!'
'Right-wing nutter!'
'Unconscious supporter of Dominionists!'
Hang in there. Of course if you do want our help at certain sites, please post the links, and let us know what handles you go by there.
What to do?
First of all, read the Freedom House report:
http://www.freedomhouse.org/religion/
Note there appears to be an update that has been posted since the initial report was issued.
Second, contact the Saudi Embassy, condemning the propagation of these materials on US soil and demanding their immediate removal:

Finally, contact HRW and AIUSA and ask why they have not responded to these human rights violations.
IMPORTANT MESSAGE TO US CITIZENS:
Freedom House is working with the U.S. Senate to introduce a new bill entitled the "Saudi Accountability Act" which aims to block efforts to undermine American religious tolerance.
Write your Senator and get them to sponsor/support this bill! Send them the link to the Freedom House report while you're at it, too. In the meantime, I will try and hunt down the language of this bill and pass it along to you.
