A federal judge Monday denied a request by Sami Al-Arian to move his terrorist financing trial out of Florida, where defense attorneys say they fear jurors might have been tainted by publicity and politics.U.S. District Judge James Moody said the pleadings by Al-Arian and co-defendant Hatim Naji Fariz did not convince him that jurors would be so prejudiced against the men and two other co-defendants that they could not get a fair trial.
Moody said in the ruling he had taken proper precautions to ensure the jury would be impartial and fair.
A jury of six men and six women and 10 alternate jurors was selected last week for the trial, expected to take six months. Testimony begins June 6.
"I am extremely disappointed," said William Moffitt, Al-Arian's defense attorney. "This is probably the first time that I will go into a case believing that my client is not presumed innocent."

Our schools are being Islamified and I post, almost entirely, articles about those who teach it and take us further down the road to a new Caliphate. I cannot help the political bent of those who teach anti-Western, anti-US material. Every single one of those articles brings up the subject of islam and / or jihad. Do any of the sites kj mentioned do the same?
That has to change. Can someone tell me how we do it without keeping the public, who's kids go to these schools, informed?
There are only so many venues for disseminating such information. Mr. Spencer's articles appear on a number of them, right alongside articles like those I posted above. But how many people of all POVs actually see those site, when they are faced with attempts to demonize, denigrate, marginalize those very sites... CAIR must appreciate the help.
A few posters still don’t seem to make the correlation with the Islamic threat and Government. As if discussing the other half of the equation is somehow unnecessary and boring. On the contrary, it’s vital and to ignore or downplay it is shortsighted to say the least.

How about informing the schools? Visit your kids' (or your neices' and nephews' or whoevers') schools and talk to the teacher or principle when you see some Islamic apologizing or revisionism. I remember seeing a poster of a bunch of dummies holding hands at my daughter's day care. There were about 12 people. One of them was presumably an Arab man, and another was a veiled woman. You could only see the eyes of her face. I complained about it, and the poster disappeared. I told the director that I didn't want my daughter to think that it was normal to hide your face in public because it's not normal. Furthermore how did 1/6 of the people on the feel-good, let's-all-love-on-another poster get to be Arabs to begin with? I didn't see any Hindus on the poster. The ditz didn't dare call me a racist.
How about visiting your local university or college and reviewing some of the curricula concerning "Middle East" studies. How about actually taking a class? How about visiting an on-campus Dawas Booth and debating some of the Kool Kids there?

Gary-I don't object to your links. I often visit them. What gets to me in the back and forth is the assumptions that are made about how the other thinks, and automatic lumping in with a particular group/ideology. Then come the snide comments and assumptions of moral superiority (this doesn't necessarily mean you and KJ), then the automatic dismissal/ignoring of facts presented by each side. In the meantime, the problem remains unresolved.
I don't fit in a liberal/conservative/dem/repub box, and a lot of others don't either.
Facts and data should be considered first, then review different approachs to solving a problem. Ultimately, what works best in both a practical and moral framework?

D.C. Paramedic Shortage Reaches Dangerous Proportions; One Third of Paramedic Positions Unfilled
WASHINGTON, DC: The District of Columbia is facing a shortage of paramedics that could hamper response times and patient care, especially if the number of vacancies keeps growing, according to a D.C. Council member and people on the force. Last week, five paramedics resigned to take jobs at other area agencies, which offer better pay and benefits, fire department and union officials said. The recent staffing problems have forced supervisors to make paramedics work overtime on a regular basis, the officials said.
The departures pushed the number of vacancies to 57 out of 166 positions for paramedics. As many as 30 more emergency medical workers, including paramedics and less-trained technicians, could leave by July, according to a draft report prepared by the council's Judiciary Committee.
"We have to ensure we have adequate medical attention on these calls," said D.C. Council member Phil Mendelson (D-At Large), chairman of the committee. "I do have a sense that the public is now safe, but that doesn't mean there isn't a problem lurking."
Adrian H. Thompson, chief of the D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department, said he is concerned about the shortage, adding that the city is taking steps to retain and recruit paramedics.
Salaries for D.C. paramedics range from about $40,000 to $54,000. Fire officials and paramedics said they believe that medical workers were leaving mostly because they could get far better retirement benefits elsewhere. D.C. officials are planning to study ways to boost retirement benefits for paramedics, officials said.
Thompson and other top fire officials said the staffing shortage is not as dire as it appears because response times are improving and the department is evolving in the way it approaches emergencies. The bible says not to wear clothes made of different cloth too. And not to eat lobster, shrimp, crab, and shellfish. And pork. It says to kill your disobedient children. It says that married men and women can't engage in "sodomy" (that means oral and anal intercourse, by the way.)
"Pro life"-ers are a joke fixated on an issue that catches everyone's attention because it involves sex. The morning-after pill would prevent 300,000 abortions a year, and just see how the bible thumpers fight against it. "Partial-birth" abortion only occurs(occured that is--boy I feel safer already) 1600 times year at the most. So why not work to distribute the morning-after pill?
Cigarette smoke kills 120,000 babies in America every year (all the numbers I'm citing pertain only to America BTW.) Why aren't bible thumpers trying to do something about that? Because the GOP are in bed with the bible thumpers AND Big Cancer.
Why not encourage people to be queer since that would decrease the number of abortions? Why not have susbtaintive sex education classes in school, since that would decrease the number of abortions? Why not teach masturbation in school, since that would decrease the number of abortions?

As long as people look toward the afterlife for something decent, they will suffer more in their REAL life. It's the same in Tehran and Riyadh as it is at the "Crystal Cathedral" in Dallas and "Liberty University" in Lynchburg, VA. The only difference is the fairy tale books they claim to worship.

Thank god for the Crusades! If not for the Crusades, Islam would've ruined India. Then Gandhi wouldn't have been born, and he wouldn't have been able to go on a hunger strike to demand the formation of Pakistan that caused the murder of a million Hindus and explusion of 10s of millions. In the 1930s, the fascist regimes that arose in Italy and Germany sought greater stakes in the Middle East, and began courting Arab leaders to revolt against their British and French custodians. Among their many willing accomplices was Jerusalem Mufti Haj Amin el-Husseini, who fled Palestine after agitating against the British during the Arab Revolt of 1936-39. He found refuge in Iraq – another British mandate – where he again topped the British most wanted list after helping pull the strings behind the Iraqi coup of 1941. The revolt in Baghdad was orchestrated by Hitler as part of a strategy to squeeze the region between the pincers of Rommel's troops in North Africa, German forces in the Caucuses and pro-Nazi forces in Iraq. However, in June 1941 British troops put down the rebellion and the Mufti escaped via Tehran to Italy and eventually to Berlin.
Once in Berlin, the Mufti received an enthusiastic reception by the "Islamische Zentralinstitut" and the whole Islamic community of Germany, which welcomed him as the "Führer of the Arabic world." In an introductory speech, he called the Jews the "most fierce enemies of the Muslims" and an "ever corruptive element" in the world.
Husseini soon became an honored guest of the Nazi leadership and met on several occasions with Hitler. He personally lobbied the Führer against the plan to let Jews leave Hungary, fearing they would immigrate to Palestine. He also strongly intervened when Adolf Eichman tried to cut a deal with the British government to exchange German POWs for 5000 Jewish children who also could have fled to Palestine. The Mufti's protests with the SS were successful, as the children were sent to death camps in Poland instead. One German officer noted in his journals that the Mufti would liked to have seen the Jews "preferably all killed." On a visit to Auschwitz, he reportedly admonished the guards running the gas chambers to work more diligently. Throughout the war, he appeared regularly on German radio broadcasts to the Middle East, preaching his pro-Nazi, anti-Semitic message to the Arab masses back home.
During the Second World War in Yugoslavia, many Muslim clerics in Bosnia and Kosovo were willing accomplices in the genocide of the nation's Serbian, Jewish and Roma population. From 1941 until 1945, the Nazi-installed regime of Ante Pavelic in Croatia carried out some of the most horrific crimes of the Holocaust, killing over 800,000 Yugoslav citizens - 750,000 Serbs, 60,000 Jews and 26,000 Roma. In these crimes, they were helped by Muslim fundamentalists in Bosnia and Kosovo who were openly supported by the Palestinian Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, Haj Amin al-Husseini. In operational terms, taqiyya and kitman allowed the ‘mujahadeen ’ to assume whatever identity was necessary to fulfill their mission; they had doctrinal and theological and later jurisprudential sanction to pretend to be Jews or Christians to gain access to Christian and Jewish targets: ‘the mujahadeen can take the shape of the enemy’.

THE NETHERLANDS: Sometimes the threats come by e-mail. Other times, warnings show up on Internet chat sites. Occasionally they are short video clips. The latest has a soundtrack of Arabic song and automatic-weapons fire, and a photograph of the intended target -- a Dutch lawmaker, Geert Wilders.
"He is an enemy of Islam and he should be beheaded," the narrator of one video clip posted on the Internet says in Arabic, against the crackle of gunfire. Behead him, "and you will earn a place in paradise."
Wilders, 41, grimaces as he plays the video for a reporter on his office computer. "I've been threatened many times," he says. "We've never experienced this before. It's something that nobody wants to live with."
Wilders is among the more provocative critics of radical Islam and immigrants in the Netherlands. He wants the preemptive arrest of suspected terrorists, whom he calls "Islamo-fascist thugs." And he wants immigrants expelled from the country for even minor infractions.
Since the execution-style killing last November of Dutch filmmaker Theo van Gogh in Amsterdam, and the discovery of an Islamic extremist cell in the Netherlands with a "death list" that included Wilders, police are taking seriously the threats against him and other people whose names have appeared on the list, often for far more moderate statements. There are now gangs in Malmö specialized in assaulting old people visiting the graves of relatives. Robberies have increased with 50 % in Malmö only during the fall of 2004. The city is descending into general chaos. Fights in the city's movie theatres have become a recurrent problem. Numbers released in January 2005 indicate a sharp rise in the number of rape charges in Malmö.
Thomas Anderberg, responsible for statistics at the Malmö Police, says there was a doubling of the number of reported rapes by ambush in 2004, following what was already a decade of steadily increasing numbers of sexual crimes. "I think that’s great news," says Anna Gustafsson, head of the Domestic Violence Unit at the Malmö Police. She suggests that the increase is due to the fact that women who otherwise wouldn’t press charges for rape now choose to contact the police. In other words, Gustafsson claims that we are dealing with a "technical" increase, not a real one.
However, national statistics reveal that reported rapes against children have almost doubled in Sweden during the past ten years. The number of rape charges per capita in Malmö is 5 – 6 times that of Copenhagen, Denmark. Copenhagen is a larger city, but the percentage of immigrants is much lower.
Malmö has recently taken another logical step towards its Islamization: Starting from the fall of 2005, the district of Hyllie will begin education in Arabic only for groups of immigrant preschool children. The idea is that once the children learn the language of their parents, it will become easier for them to learn Swedish as well. So the Swedish state paying for educating Swedish citizens on Swedish ground in Arabic is somehow supposed to increase integration.

While Malmö may be an especially appalling example, instability is spreading to most of Sweden's urban and suburban areas, and now permeates all levels of society. Street violence of all kinds is soaring on a national level. Private security companies are in great demand in major Swedish cities, as a serious lack of police to combat rising crime has made many citizens tired of being robbed.
Amnesty International concluded that acts of violence against women had spiralled upward in Sweden in the last 15 years, a jump that could not be explained away as merely a greater willingness by women to report the incidents.
A large majority of Swedish Members of Parliament, but even many politicians on lower and local levels, say they experience threats or violence. Many of them say the harassment is so bad they consider leaving politics.
In Husby, a Stockholm suburb, gangs of immigrant youngsters are harassing other visitors who come to use the swimming pool. A Swedish school class was attacked and robbed by a large group of teenage boys shouting "Swedish bastards! (Svennejävlar) You don't belong here!" The police in Husby are aware of the problem, but say it is an integration problem that the police can't solve alone.
In another case, some twenty youths armed with iron rods and chains smashed the Hjulsta school in Stockholm. They also threatened and attacked several of the pupils. Neither the students nor the teachers dare testify to the police about the incident.
Their fears are well-founded, as threats against witnesses in Swedish court cases have quadrupled between 2000 and 2003.
