Female TV host's killing sends chill through Kabul

It may have been an honor killing. Shaima Rezayee update, from the Christian Science Monitor, with thanks to EPG:

Staff at a controversial TV station in Kabul are taking extra security precautions in the wake of a killing last Wednesday of a former colleague who was shot dead in her Kabul home.

Shaima Rezayee had worked for Tolo TV before being dismissed two months ago amid complaints by conservatives over her on-air demeanor. In a departure from the public personae of many Afghan women, Ms. Rezayee adopted Western-style dress and chatted with male counterparts as a veejay for a music-video program named "Hop."

A council of religious scholars criticized Tolo and other broadcasters this spring for airing "programs opposed to Islam and national values."

Police are still investigating Rezayee's death, but they have told reporters that the young woman's brothers may have been involved. In Afghanistan and other conservative societies, women may face violence at the hands of male relatives over perceived affronts to family "honor."

Al-Fitnah (polytheism, disbelief, oppression) is worse than slaughter.”

Dear Imam,

My sister has been wearing Western dress and has adopted Western attitudes for years, but my brothers and I strangely feel no urge to kill her.

What's wrong with me?

Yours in perplexity,

Puzzled Infidel

BigSleep--Strangely I also feel no urge to murder my sister.

Let me get this straight...I just don't understand. Lets say I am a Muslim guy in a Muslim land. I have a father and a sister. My sister gets raped by some Muslim man. My father, to protect the family honor, has to kill my sister because she is no longer 'pure'. Whether it is her fault or not. Too bad for Sis. She gets killed.

Now as a Muslim guy, I am lets say 10 years old. I get raped by a Muslim man. You know, the old 72 virgins and 6 small boys in paradise thing. So now I am raped and am no longer 'pure' either. Yet I am not murdered by my father. Why?

I have never read or heard of small boys being murdered in Islam land because they are no longer 'pure'. So apparently they don't get killed by Muslim familys to protect the family honor.

I also understand that a Muslim adult male who has sex with another Muslim adult male is homosexual. And homosexuals get murdered because they ARE homosexual, engaged in such activity in Islam land. Yet a Muslim male adult who has anal sex with a Muslim male child IS NOT homosexual? And neither the Muslim male child nor the Muslim male adult are murdered by their respective families to protect the family honor, even tho both are now not 'pure'?

How does your Koran explain this?
