AN OFFICIAL REPORT DEALING WITH religious expression in French schools has become a must read for anyone interested in the Islamization of France. Written under the auspices of the top national education official, Jean-Pierre Obin, the report was not initially released by the Ministry of Education. But it was leaked on the Internet in March and now can be found in its entirety at www.proche-orient.info and other websites.The 37-page report is the product of a study carried out between October 2003 and May 2004 by a team of 10 inspectors, including Obin. In addition to examining the recent literature on religion and schools in France, they visited 61 academic and vocational high schools in 24 départements, chosen not as a cross-section of public schools, but rather as schools typical of those where religious expression has become a problem because of the high concentration of ethnic and religious minorities. Many are located in ethnically segregated neighborhoods now often referred to, the report says, "by analogy with the United States, as 'ghettos.'"...
Amid much diversity--some of the schools were rural, some urban; some had fairly homogeneous student populations, others immigrants from many different countries--the inspectors report two consistent findings: a marked increase in religious expression, especially Muslim expression,in schools; and denial on the part of officials at all levels--from the classroom, to the principal's office, to the regional administration--that this phenomenon is occurring.
The researchers began by studying the neighborhoods surrounding the schools. Mostly, these were depressed areas abandoned by anyone with a secure income. The report describes the flight of "French" residents and "European" shops--sometimes after they have been the targets of violence--in tandem with the arrival of immigrants and the collapse of real estate values.
Scores of informants told the Obin team that these neighborhoods were undergoing a "rapid and recent swing" toward Islamization, thanks to the growing influence of religious activists. These young men, intense and highly intellectual in their piety, are sometimes former residents of the neighborhood who have been to prison, where they were converted to Islam. More often, however, they are educated men with degrees from universities in France, North Africa, or the Middle East. They have come to be known as "bearded ones" (distinctive beards are a marker of Muslim purists and extremists--think of bin Laden) or "big brothers" (a name evocative of the worldwide jihadist movement's Muslim Brotherhood), and they offer young people a proud identity--Muslim--in place of the dismal identity of unassimilated immigrant.
The biggest social change entailed by this Islamization, Obin reports, is a deterioration in the position of females. Teenage girls are forbidden to play sports and are constantly watched by an informal religious police made up of young men, sometimes their own younger brothers. Makeup, skirts, and form-fitting dresses are forbidden; dark, loose trousers are the strongly recommended attire. To go to the blackboard in front of a class, some Muslim girls put on long coats. Often, they are forced to wear the headscarf, or hijab, and forbidden to frequent coed movie theaters, community centers, and gyms, or even to go out at all on weekends. Lots of young women were afraid to tell the Obin team what punishments are in store for them if they disobey. Not only female students but also female teachers, Muslim and non-Muslim alike, are frequently subjected to sexist remarks by male teenagers....
Inevitably, the report records rampant "Judeophobia," to use the term in vogue in France. Among even the youngest students, the term "Jew" has become the all-purpose insult. Obin deplores the fact that principals and teachers do not strenuously object to this, treating it simply as part of the youth culture. Even more serious is the increase in assaults on Jews or those presumed to be Jewish. Usually the assailants are Muslim students. Sometimes the victims are, too: One Turkish high-school girl was relentlessly harassed and bullied at school because her country is an ally of Israel. The section of the report on anti-Semitism winds up with this sad conclusion: In France today, Jewish kids are not welcome at every school. Many are forced to switch schools or even conceal their identity to escape anti-Semitism.

There was a news story about 2-3 years ago about a church in Bologna particularly known for its interior frescos, as are many churches in Italy. One of these frescos, painted by a renaissance master, just happens to depict mohammed in a not too flattering setting, that is, hades. Of course, the local muslim community has been demanding that this fresco, which is nonetheless priceless art, be removed (which can only be done by obliterating the plaster in which it is embedded) because it is (where have we heard this before) offensive to islam. I do not have the link readily available, but I may have seen it at chiesa.espressonline.it in the past. I am sure a web search will locate this story without too much effort, but duty calls. If someone else has the link, it would be greatly appreciated.

I think if Europe doesn't begin mass expulsions of Muslims then what you stated above is inevitable.

ITALIAN MUSLIMS WANT FAMED FRESCO DESTROYED
Muslim leaders in Italy are demanding the removal or destruction of a priceless 15th Century fresco in Bologna's cathedral, saying that it offends Islam by showing Mohammed being cast into the flames of Hell, Richard Owen reported in the Times of London. The row could threaten the already strained relations between the Roman Catholic Church and members of Italy's immigrant Muslim community. The recently established Union of Italian Muslims has written to the Pope and Cardinal Giacomo Biffi, the archbishop of Bologna, complaining that "The Last Judgment of Giovanni da Modena" in Bologna Cathedral, shows clearly Mohammed, the founder of Islam, among those condemned to burn in eternal flames. In the letter they called for the "barbarous" fresco to be removed from the wall of the Bolognese chapel, inside the cathedral of San Petronio. The protesters said that Giovanni da Modena had shown Mohammed being "thrown into hell, completely naked, with a snake wrapped around his body and a demon next to him about to torture him." The protestors said that Muslims "never had depicted Jesus or the Virgin Mary" on the walls of a mosque. Muslims do not depict human beings or animals on the walls of mosques, and do not regard Jesus as being born of a virgin. A spokesman for Cardinal Biffi claimed that it was "absurd to suddenly discover after 600 years that our most famous treasure is offensive to the Islamic religion." A more moderate Muslim spokesman, Nabil Baioni of the Islamic Cultural Centre, took a more sanguine view, stating, " I have lived here for 40 years," he said, "and I never have noticed the image before now." The Union of Italian Muslims" leader, Adel Smith, has demanded that the teaching of Dante, Italy's national poet, be banned in immigrant areas because he placed Mohammed in the ninth circle of Hell in his Inferno According to a historian consulted by World News, during the 15th century, Italy faced a substanial military threat from the Islamic Ottoman Empire.

In exploring the analogy between the current conflict with Islam and Jihadism and the conflict with fascism in the 1930s and 40s, one cannot escape the comparison between Nazi Germany and contemporary France. A slow growing menace that no one takes seriously creeps little by little into public life; the explosive potential for violence, the anti-Semitism, and the ideology is so outlandish, so irrational, who would take these ideas seriously? They simply can't mean what they say.
One wonders how bad things must get before there is some general public realization that French society is in mortal danger.

Scary report of what's happening there, but not surprising really. It's unfortunate and maddening, but inevitable. Where Islam goes, hell follows. There is no multicultural nirvana with Islam in the mix. Never can be.
It's interesting that they stomp on their women like that. That's the key to Islam's success. If they allow their women to become too French, then they lose the subservient, prolific breeders that Islam needs. They need the numbers. For with the numbers, come the demands, the concessions and the overtaking of non-Muslim lands. This is the non-violent jihad. Al Qaeda cell in Italy planned church attack
ROME: Italian investigators have broken up a Milan-based “terror cell” with links to Al Qaeda which planned an attack on a 14th century church in Bologna earlier this year, a newspaper reported on Sunday.
Corriere della Sera newspaper said the group was identified after intercepted telephone conversations between several Tunisians and Moroccans with links to a Libyan known as Amsa, considered one of Osama bin Laden’s chief operatives in Europe. Amsa was arrested last month in Britain, the paper said.
The Milan-based cell, which included members of Algeria’s radical Salafist Group of Preaching and Combat, allegedly planned an attack on the basilica of San Petronio in Bologna, northern Italy, because it contains a fresco depicting Mohammad in hell.
Italian police began intercepting telephone conversations after the September 11 attacks on the United States, and recorded discussions between the suspected Tunisian and Moroccan extremists. They had regular contact with Amsa, who at the time was living in Milan.
Italian authorities tracked Amsa’s movements to countries including Afghanistan and Iran, and, after contact with the CIA, learned that the United States considered him one of bin Laden’s chief operatives, according to Corriere della Sera. Italy kept tabs on Amsa, tracing his movements to the Netherlands and learning through other intercepted conversations he was considering an attack on the US embassy in Amsterdam, the paper said.
At the same time, he was coordinating “cells” in Britain, Spain, Belgium and Italy, including the Milan-based group. Corriere della Sera said the Milan group had planned to attack the Bologna church, whose 14th century fresco depicts Mohammad being torn limb from limb by the devil, in February this year, but investigators raised the alarm first. —Reuters
Gee, AvrageJoe, they're pretty determined to get rid of that fresco, eh? I fear it's inevitable that they will succeed. And instead of outrage and condemnation towards Islam, we'll get typical dhimmis saying 'oh well, they were offended by it and we have to respect other cultures'.

The full article had many interesting facts. In some classrooms, Muslims students won't use the plus sign in doing math problems; the plus sign looks like a Christian cross. French philosophers like Voltaire are not being taught. Field trips to historic cathedrals are boycotted. One school has separate bathrooms for Muslims and non-Muslim students and another school serves only halal meats. Many Muslim boys won't go to swimming classes because of being in "girls water" and Muslim girls just won't swim because they must be covered at all times. Of course, the Holocaust cannot be taught without huge fights with Muslims students. Threats to teachers and non-Muslim students, especially Jewish students, are the order of the day. Towards the end of the report, it states that the schools who have been the LEAST willing to give in to Muslims demands (least dhimmitude), are the schools that maintain the most control over the students. Listen up America....hijabs today in schools, tomorrow, no plus signs in math classes and separate bathrooms for kufirs. If Muslims are given an inch, they take the whole highway.

What next, the national flags of Sweden, Denmark and Norway being offensive to the delicate sensitivities of muslims for bearing the cross? Should that issue ever be raised, Turkey's EU accession negotiations should include a demand that the crescent be removed from its flag.
Time for Europeans to tell their Muslim minorities (while they still are) to either really join their nation (France or wherever) or leave for Saudi Arabia if they can't handle the Universal Declaration of Human Rights inherent in European civilization.
And, of course, they can't.

These jihadiots in Italy are quite the hypocrites.
When the Ottomans conquered the Byzantine empire, they wrote "Allah does not beget, nor is he begotten" on the inside of churches (which were later turned to mosques). Obviously this is a direct swipe against the Christian notion that Jesus of Nazareth was begotten from God the Father.
Perhaps before complaining about the frescoes, they should look at their own history of defiling the holy places of others.

Good observation about the new Georgian flag!
Perhaps the West should universally adopt the cross (ala the 'Red Cross', symbol of pure humanitarian decency) as its overall 'sign'. (Islamicists already presume it is so, therefore, let's run with it.)
