"The lucrative summer movie season suffered its worst start in years Sunday, as the costly Crusades epic `Kingdom of Heaven' crawled into the No. 1 slot at the North American weekend box office with meager ticket sales of just $20 million," reports Reuters.British director Ridley Scott — still brimming with confidence from his earlier success with the sword-and-sandal extravaganza Gladiator — poured $150 million into producing Kingdom of Heaven.
But when word leaked out that the film portrayed Christian crusaders as bad guys, Muslims as good guys — and religion itself as the fount of all evil — the movie-going public shrugged its collective shoulders, fired up its DVD players and popped in its well-worn but ever-reliable copies of Braveheart and The Return of the King.
Yippie!!!!
The logic of economics is cold and ruthless. How long will Hollywood's shenanigans cross-subsidize dhimmi fare with profits from saner movies? The first few brains in hollywood to figure out that there's a huge market for truth out there will rake in the moolah bigtime and then expect legions of me-toos to jump in....

It'll be interesting to see how this film goes down over this side of the pond (Europe), I suspect it might do better than in the US, the Brits and Europeans are much more masocistic regarding these sorts of things.
But hearing this film being hyped as a blockbuster even before it was released made me question my understanding of the term; isn't a blockbuster a film that does well at the box office, and can therefore only be determined to be a blockbuster after it has been proven in the crucible of the fickle world of popular opinion (i.e. after it has raked in truck loads of cash)?
Oh... one really funny thing: I went to a BP station yesterday to get some soda. The owners/managers were muslim men. I purposely touched his hand when he gave me back my change, (he sheepishly took my dollar from my hand being ever so careful not to touch me), and I and tickled his palm. He was absolutely repulsed. As I walked out, I laughed as I thought about how many baths he'd have to take to make things right with allah. Then I spit my gum out on the sidewalk. One of those "pitooey" kind of spits.
My husband applauded me.
I also accidentally dropped some of my home-made business cards that simply say
"www.jihadwatch.org" "www.faith-freedom.org" right outside the front door.
The cards are flourescent orange with raised black letters. I leave them everywhere I go. Especially gas stations and convenience stores :o)
They don't drink alcohol, they don't eat pork, and they don't shake women's hands.
We know their weaknesses, and we should use that knowledge to our advantage.

People prefer their historical films to "pick a side". Trying to tapdance down the middle of harsh reality leaves ALL in the audience unamused.

Scott seems to have tried it again, unintentionally, and I hope it teaches him not to f*ck so freely with the truth.

Either tell it honestly or move on to lighter fare.
Scott can now take on a revisionist story of the last days of The Christ, except in his version Jesus -renamed "KEVIN"- talks Pontius Pilate out of crucifying him, just in the nick of time.
And all have a big Roman-Saducee-'christian' feast to celebrate their new ecumenical understanding, heavy on the dancing girls and wine. (No one of those three groups will be offended that way.)
It should only cost about $150 million.

This analysis is incorrect: $20 million was grossed over 3 days. Surely this is a lot less than the studios hoped for, but the film still have an outside chance, if one includes DVD sales, of at least breaking even, if the budget is around 150 million. The film still currently tops all others in gross receipts, and, of course, we do not know why more folks are not going to the movie.
What these numbers probably mean is that studios will forgo the big budget historical epic for a while. That wave has past and another is surely building. But, the connection between dhimmitude, misrepresenting the history of Islam, and bad box office numbers is highly implausible.

I did not mean to imply, nor do I believe, that there is any connection between the dhimmitude of the film and its poor performance -- leaving aside the question of whether its performance is really poor.

Actually KOH did perform poorly in the US. The first weekend in May is among the most lucrative of the year and $20 mil is nothing to shout about. Last year Van Helsing earned $52 mil the first weekend in May and that opening was described as a "disappointment". The previous year X2:X Men United earned $85 mil over the same three day weekend while Spiderman earned over $114 mil the year before that.The first weekend in May kicks off the summer season at the box office and a $20 mil opening is pretty pathetic.
Epic fatigue and a confused marketing campaign by Fox are what probably hurt the film.Though the dhimmiutude message certainly didn't help. I was set to see KOH until I heard about the PC reinterpretation of the Crusades.The endorsement of the film by fascist CAIR also raised a red flag. Poor box office in the US along with generally weak reviews means that KOH has no chance at major awards at next years Oscars.BTW- KOH opened day and date in the rest of the world with the US and did considerably better internationally,as epics generally do very well outside of the US.Even bombs like King Arthur and Alexander performed well outside of the US.

For one, they are incredibly superstitious,
Mo believed in the evil eye and jinns and other such stuff and so do they. Check out the evil eye amulets sold all over the web, especially big in arab countries. When they pass by, I stare (give the evil eye)and recite (mumble)what sounds like an incantation. That's good for a few laughs.
I always grab the men's hands to shake when possible and watch them flinch.
Please go to the dawa open houses and multicultural love fests held at local colleges and at mainstream xian churches. Go prepared with info about sharia (complete integration of church and state as well as a replacement for our Constitution), women's lack of rights, etc., using politics as the stick you beat them with and staying away from religion as this is the topic they love to take on because they always trump the xians by bringing up monotheism. Most ministers, I've found, cannot debate coherently about the Trinity.
Educating the western audience about mohammedan politics and jihad is my goal and if I stymie the imam or embarrass the muslim brotherhood leader so much the better.

Ya, it did bring in $57 million abroad - not just Europe. They rolled this picture out in nearly every country in the world in the same week. I saw it in Cairo two days before it opened in the US.

Islam is often in the news these days. News articles that relate to Islam sometimes refer to the Shariah. What is the Shariah? The Shariah is the Islamic Sacred Law which was developed hundreds of years ago by Islamic jurists using the Koran and hadith (remembrances about what the Prophet Muhammad said and did during the time he was alive) as guideposts. The Shariah outlines a complete way of life in a legal framework which tells you how to do everything from how to pray to how to go to the bathroom. What does the Shariah law actually state? Here are some examples of Shariah law:
1. Offensive, military jihad against non-Muslims is a communal, religious obligation;
2. A person who is ignorant about Islamic legal opinion must follow the legal opinion of a scholar;
3. The penalty for a Muslim apostate (someone who no longer believes in or no longer follows the tenets of Islam) is death;
4. When slaughtering animals for food, a knife must be used to cut the windpipe and gullet;
5. A woman is only eligible to receive half the inheritance of a man;
6. Marriage may be forced on virgins by their father or father’s father;
7. A non-Arab man may not marry an Arab woman;
8. A woman must seek permission from her husband to leave the house;
9. A Muslim man cannot marry a woman who is a Zoroastrian, an idol worshipper, an apostate from Islam or a woman with one parent who is Jewish or Christian, with the other being Zoroastrian; a Muslim woman cannot marry anyone but a Muslim;
10. A free Muslim man may marry up to four women;
11. Retaliation is obligatory in most cases when someone is deliberately murdered except when a Muslim kills a non-Muslim, a Jew or a Christian kills a Muslim apostate or a father or mother kill their offspring;
12. Non-Muslim subjects (Ahl al-Dhimma) of a Muslim state are subject to a series of discriminatory laws – “dhimmitude”;
13. The penalty for fornication or sodomy is being stoned to death;
14. The penalty for an initial theft is amputation of the right hand. Subsequent thefts are penalized by further amputations of feet and hand;
15. A non-Muslim cannot testify against a Muslim in court; a person who is “without respectability” cannot give legal testimony; a woman’s legal testimony is only given half the legal weight of a man’s (and is only acceptable in cases involving property); to legally prove fornication or sodomy requires 4 male witnesses who actually saw the act;
16. The establishment and continuation of the Islamic Caliphate (by force, if necessary) is a communal obligation;
17. Sodomites and Lesbians must be killed;
18. Laughing too much is forbidden;
19. Musical instruments are unlawful;
20. Creating pictures of animate life is forbidden;
21. Female circumcision, which includes the excision of the clitoris, is obligatory;
22. Slavery is permitted;
23. People may be bribed to convert to Islam;
24. Beating a rebellious wife is permissible; and,
25. Lying is permissible in a time of war (or jihad).
In order to demonstrate to you that the above examples of Shariah law are real and valid, I will excerpt below the relevant legal clauses relating to each of the above numbered headings. First, I will repeat the heading. Then, I will excerpt the relevant legal clauses.
