From Indian Express, "Mob sets fire to 2 mosques after acid attack," with thanks to Two Stellas.
MANDI - An angry crowd set two mosques in the town on fire this evening after a man threw a bottle of acid at passengers of a private bus, seriously injuring at least 11 people, including a five-year-old.Doctors attending to the injured said four persons with more than 50 per cent burns may even lose their eyesight due to the attack.
Police later arrested the culprit, Mohammad Mahboob, from Muzzafarnagar in Uttar Pradesh. He has reportedly confessed to the crime.
According to the Mandi police, the incident occurred outside a bus stand around 3 pm, when Mohammad threw a bottle of acid at 22-year-old Mamta from Drubal village. Mamta was sitting inside the bus which was leaving for Koon.
As news of the acid attack spread, crowds began pour onto the streets. They collected in city squares and marched to the two mosques — Moti Masjid in Ramnagar Mandi and Janta Masjid on Jail Road. Police sources said some of them raised slogans and incited the mob to set fire to the shrines in retaliation to the acid attack...
Why didn't the Arab/Muslim world erupt in flames? Where was the outrage against hindus? Why didn't we see Indian flags getting burned? Why didn't we see pictures of hindu gods getting "desecrated"? Well, you know the rule: the US is guilty even if proven innocent. Add to that the hypocrisy of those who call themselves Islamists. Those who see hindus (as long as they are not American hindus) burning Qurans and do not give a hoot. Those who see Iraqis getting killed by fellow Muslims and they do not give a hoot as well.

I wish Americans reacted this way after 9-11.
Reaction of good people of Mandi to islamist thug-criminal attack - is not PC!
Ranoir:
Fear the american response to the next terroro attack on US soil.
And hutchrun:
Pertinent point raised.
I've been following islam's march across the south asian subcontinent. And its scary. This article is good news in that it makes clear the hindus of india aren't all ready to play dhimmi unlike their elected representatives.
Congratulations, people of Mandi, for not playing the role of dhimmis! Now if we can only get our Western leaders to do the same.
Way 2 go boys. BTW Mandi is very near Dharamsala the seat of Tibetean Govt-in-exile. That guy was a pissed of rejected Romeo. Acid attacks were once very common in India when rejected lovers tried to "fix the bitch". May be what set off this crowd was that a Muslim boy attacked a Hindu girl becoz she rejected him.
We need to learn to fight back like that. Instead, we make pathetic apologies while our atheistic press scum whip up the fanatics with koran desecration stories.
A raging mob burns down a mosque and people here are cheering? There's not even any evidence that the mosques were connected to the attack! In fact, why is this article even posted here? Is there any evidence that the perpetrator had a jihadist agenda? I can't believe that people are seriously congratulating mob violence.
Mob rule takes us down to the lowest level, that of the Islamist thug. The comments on this thread are unfortunate. We are not like the Islamist hooligans and lynch mobs. We are better than that. Think carefully.
viking5,
Dhimmis must submit to any behavior by the mohammedans towards them with nary a word of protest or retaliation. Thus, these people aren't dhimmis by any means and this article is in the right category.
Please read the koran and hadiths where you will find that the mosque is not like a Xian church or Jewish synagogue or Hindu/Buddhist temple. Prayer and sermons are only a part of its use. It is a community center and poliitcal hub. Mosques are where jihad is engendered, planned and inflammed.
viking, these books are second only to The Art of War in terms of mastery of warfare and power politics. The awe of mohammed or terror tactics have worked for 1400 years.
zico, it is human nature to have sympathy with fairly peaceful and tolerant people who are subjected to violence, intolerance and cruelty.
In terms of societies, the mohammedans still function at a tribal master/slave level and due to their eternal, perfect and immutable, intertwined religion and politics of war( theft, rape, and murder made sacred, no negotiation with non-muslims, second class citizens for infidels) they will attract the type of reaction you see here.
What we must do is to learn everything about them, know our enemy, so well that we can anticipate what he will do next. Actually this is very easy as all the rules are laid out in the mohammedan trinity of books, the koran, the hadiths and biography of mohammed. They have a very prescribed box they operate within and are trained not to think outside the box. We must name the enemy, study what they think and how they act and keep from fighting too much amongst ourselves. But foremost, we must have the will to wage war.
I notice that the chap wanted to throw acid in the face of a girl called 'mamta' (sounds hindu). One need only extrapolate what happens in other countries with regards to muslims and women, and what they are taught to do in their mosques, to realize where blame will lie. As a muslim community centre do you think he did not discuss the girl (probably rejected him) with his 'buds' in the privacy of the mosque? If you believe he didnt....
How much do you want to bet, that any muslim that thinks of trying anything like that sometime soon, will be asked to think again, by his own 'brothers'?
Mob rule may be bad, but in a country where the muslims are afforded special status by the constitution, where else do you get non pc justice?
Do you think the 4 people who will wind up blind, including a 5 year old child and a young woman, could have expected to see justice?
Priestess, you appear to advocate the very kind of "war on Islam" that Bin Laden and his delusional followers think we have been waging. Is that really what you want?
I must confess to not having read all of the Qur'an and Hadith. However I have read the Bible and quite a few history books more thoroughly, and I'm pretty sure that mob vigilantism serves nobody in the long term.
I believe in the western values of freedom, justice, and the rule of law. By rule of law I mean a law that treats people as individuals and not as members of a race, and a law that treats everyone equally (my beliefs are therefore incompatible with Dhimmitude).
If the mosques are implicated in promoting acid attacks, then the leaders need to be put on trial. That might not happen, of course, since the justice system may be corrupt. That makes vigilante violence more likely, even understandable, but it doesn't make it a positive thing. When mobs get violent, even if the mob is legitimately angry, innocent people inevitably get hurt. I'm not a pacifist, but I think that mob arson is only going to lead to more violence on both sides.
An earlier comment said "I wish Americans reacted this way after 9-11". I saw the aftermath of 9/11 first hand, and within weeks I saw Muslims promoting and practising their faith at the state fair. I thought that if not only in America, only in very few countries, would this kind of tolerance be shown. Christians wouldn't be allowed to evangelize in many Muslim nations at the best of times, let alone if some Christians had committed the largest terrorist attack in modern history. But the respect for freedom and the rule of law runs so deep in the USA that even after 3000+ Americans were murdered in a single morning, Muslims were still living freely in America. The predictions of massed retaliatory attacks on Muslims and mosques went unfulfilled. That, if anything, really sets the USA apart from lesser nations. Americans should be proud of their country precisely because they did not respond to 9/11 with vigilante vengence against Muslims.
Absolution: "Mob rule may be bad, but in a country where the muslims are afforded special status by the constitution, where else do you get non pc justice?"
Muslims are afforded special status in the Indian constitution?
Here's a copy of the Indian constitution:
http://www.oefre.unibe.ch/law/icl/in00000_.html
I can't find any part that gives special status to Muslims. Perhaps you can point it out to us?
my name, "the poetess" comes from a story from the hadiths where a poetess, Asma Marwan, wrote a poem castigating mohammed for calling for medinans to cast off their tribal, even family, loyalties and become members of the ummah. For this, mohammed asked who would rid him of this woman. A follower of mohammed went late one night to Asma's home and killed her while she lay sleeping with a child at her breast. mohammed hated to be mocked or criticized and established from the very first that this behaviour would be met with death. And so it has continued for 1,400 years.
Infidel laws mean nothing to mohammedism as it has its own allah-given laws that they believe are superior to ours. Prison sentences for crimes they don't believe are crimes don't humiliate or offend or rehabilitate jihadis, but only provide a chance for proselytizing, or dawa. Our system of tolerance and respect for religions blinds to the greatest aspect(for us)of this all encompassing belief system, Politics.
There is no room in mohammedan politics for individual freedom, or tolerance on any level for Hindus, Buddhists, Animists, atheists, anyone outside the people of the book must convert or be killed. Even Jews and Xians who are tolerated have lesser status as a citizen than the believers. To pride ourselves on our democratic tolerance and respect of our law is fine but remember, pride goeth before a fall.
I do not espouse global genocide for mohammedans. I urge everyone to educate themselves, learn why mohammedans become "mobots"
who lie, cheat, steal, rape and murder. Only then can we have a realistic discussion of what shape this war (that they declared) should take.
Ali Sina has an excelent essay today on faithfreedom.org called "Combat Stupidity with Humiliation" pertaining to our discussion that I recommend you read.
Poetess, sorry I confused your name. I agree with you that education is vital if we are to defeat Islamism, or any totalitarian ideology. Ultimately, Islam has to stand its ground in the marketplace of ideas. Our freedom to scrutinize religions must be exercised. The more rational discussion we can have, the better our chances of avoiding the sad scenes reported above.
I recently started writing on V.I. Lenin's What is to be Done? at a private blog, and if you're interested in writing comments there I might like some input and feed-back, particularly at that post on the topic of mob violence and Lenin's call for sophistication and strategic efforts on the part of professional revolutionaries such as we should be in this struggle against dhimmitude and fascist Islam. Lenin's text is longish, and so far I've only addressed one sentence, so over the coming period I will return to it frequently for further discussion, and I hope those of us who are interested in doing more than raging aginst the coming of the darkness will join in with commentary.
My objection to burning mosques in fits of mob violence isn't affected by any feelings of concern for the innocent victims of the Indian Moslem community, I'll admit, nor am I interested in pseudo-intellectual Grotiisms of international law and hearings of universal justice in the Hague. Burn mosques if you will; but consider the impact on the day after. Generally there is none. Life goes on as before, and mosques are rebuilt. The planned actions of Leninist revolutionaries takes into consideration the future impact of each action, and that is what seperates mobs from revolutionaries who can and will succeed in genuine social transformation. If today Indians burnt every mosque in the nation, tomorrow Moslems would rebuild, and Islam would remain, being fortified against the next assault.
I suspect there will be a time when my blog advocates extra-parliamentary opposition to dhimmitude, though I won't suggest it yet other than in the mildest of ways; but regarding the difference between the legal and the legalistic approach to debate, though I am on the side of legality I will quickly delete posts from pot-smoking hippies who waste my space. There is no need for us to wring our hands and chew our knuckles and worry that we are like them if we do what they do. That level of unsophistication is genuinely unwelcome. Our struggle for the triumph of the Modern Revolutions is a moral imperative, and nothing else of import stands in competition.
Acid flinging must eventually face organization, and I welcome those who will commit themselves to that professional task.

Check Article 370 of Indian constitution . It stipulates that No non-Kashmiri Indian citizen is allowed to be a permanent residence of any place in the State of Jammu and Kashmir in order to preserve it's demographic balance (read: "Bar Hindus from outnumbering Muslims in J&K). Muslims have their own personal law which recognises certain provisions of Sharia like 4 wives, triple talaq etc. Indian Muslim women are not entitled to alimony (see Shah Bano Case when Constitution of India was modified when Supreme Court of India awarded alimony to a Muslim woman). Recently in the state of Andhra Pradesh Muslims were awarded 5% reservation in government jobs, a decision which was quashed by SC. There are personal laws for Hindus,Sikhs,Christians too but no anamoly of Hinduism,Sikhism or Chritianity is given constitutional recognition. The biggest inustice to Indians is that govt of India awards $40 million Haj subsidy to Muslims.

But on arguments that supports this article about preservng cultural unity etc are also very true for other states with states like Maharashtra being swamped by Bangla illegals and North Indian Muslims

Interesting, thank you. But before we get too carried away on this point, doesn't Israel have similar laws to preserve its "demographic balance"?
I agree that recognizing Sharia undermines the secular state and the cause of justice, but I would be surprised if there are acid-throwing rights in the constitution.

Check up on the All India Muslim Personal Law Board as well
Some other items of information:-
NEW DELHI, MAY 19: Brushing aside the angry chorus from academics and scholars and the Left parties, HRD Minister Arjun Singh has for the first time approved ‘‘communal reservation’’ in the 140-year-old Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) whereby 50 per cent of seats in postgraduate disciplines will be reserved for Muslim students.
Under existing rules, 50 per cent of the postgraduate seats are reserved for ‘‘internal candidates’’ (read AMU graduates) who clear the test and 50 per cent for students from outside. All admissions are on merit and are irrespective of faith.
Under the new rules, however, only 25 per cent is earmarked for outside students irrespective of faith. There will be another 20 per cent for internal candidates (AMU graduates) based on merit. And 50 per cent of all seats are to be filled by Muslim candidates who fail to clear under the first two categories.
The remaining five per cent are to be filled by the Vice-Chancellor’s nomination to accommodate candidates who are children of employees or alumni or belong to SC/ST.

New Delhi, May. 24 (PTI): Hailing the UPA Government's decision to back 50 per cent reservation for Muslims in the Aligarh Muslim Universty, the Jamiat-Ulama-i-Hind today said it was "a step long in coming" and should be followed at all levels, including Parliament and State Assemblies.
This is what pseudo-secularism will lead one to...
That was the reason why Pakistan was created. 100% reservation for muslims only.

In that last link you see, 3340 educational institutions run by minorities. Only 194 by the majority that is oh-so-evil.
Of course kerala is a small state, with a massive amount of ME connections, thanks to the mainly muslim expatriates.
I have mentioned this before and since it is pertinent to this thread, I would like to remind everyone that religion, when it threatens national security, can and has been attacked by the United States government.
Shintoism, Emperor Worship, was the driving force behind the fierce Japanese soldiers and suicide pilots. Children were indoctrinated to believe that the Emperor was God and that it would be an honor to die in battle for him. The Japanese government singled out Christianity and Americans as the focus of profound ridicule and hatred, and the Japanese were taught that they were superior. Sound familiar?
The Shinto temples in the U.S. were terrorist cells set up by the Japanese government, which funded them through Japanese citizens and companies. (sound familiar?) The U.S. government knew that the root of Japanese bellicosity was the Shinto religion so American government agents raided Shinto temples and arrested the Japanese spies. There were so many Japanese Americans sympathetic to the Japanese cause that the decision was made to intern all the Japanese in America.
When Japan surrendered, part of the terms set forth by the U.S. was for the Japanese Emperor to publically address the Japanese people on public radio and declare that he was not God. Shintoism was banned in JAPAN as well as the U.S.
Times have changed and our society is currently being suffocated by cultural Marxism, AKA political correctness, multiculturalism, moral/religious/cultural relativity, but our Constitution does not provide irrefutable protection to any ideology that threatens our national security, whether it calls itself a religion or not.
Who knows if or when Washington will recognize the threats that are born, nurtured, and sustained within the mosques of America. Sooner or later, they will have to be addressed.
viking5 & ZICO-
The Koran is a warlord's blueprint for world domination using the Absolute Weapon of a crime-absolving deity to fuel the 'holy' warriors.
Mosques would thus be the headquarters for this effort toward global conquest and the subjugation of all who will not convert -after trying to tickle them toward an epiphany with the edge of a sword.
We read daily, if not hourly, or Muslim fanatics maiming or killing infidels (or members of their own faith who do not fit within their dogmatic interpretation of the warlord's commands). It is not only sickeningly tedious, but is setting the fire under a growing serious sense of outrage among the attacked.
Thus, the reaction of these innocent bystanders... who did not kill anyone in return, mind you... in destroying these centers of 'eternal warfare against unbelievers' is not that irrational.
Unfortunately, the 'war-rooms' are likely to be rebuilt.
Until we can somehow encourage all Muslims to return to Mecca (-and rotate merrily around a reconstructed meterorite, forever-) then violence like this acid attack -and worse- will continue to occur. Everywhere.
And the pissed-off peasantry will respond by obliterating the playhouses of these psychopaths.
The worse the Muslim fanatics behave, the worse the 'infidel' reactions will rise in response.
They are calling down trouble on their own heads.
And a people's tolerance has survival-rooted limits.
War is not a one-sided affair where you absorb insults forever.
If the governments act too slowly, the people will take up the slack.
Good posts from poetess. Your first prose posts
Glad to see the Hindus retaliating. This is what's known as rough justice, the only kind you'll get sometimes. Acid disfigurement and blinding is far more heinous than two Jihad bases being torched. Muslims must restrain their easily excited boys/men or suffer the consequences.

I agree with your note on the poetess: Good posts.
the poetess-
I suspected that you were referring to Ms. Marwan in your screen title.
I wish Ridley "Kingdom of Heaven" Scott had made a movie of her life instead of polishing the bloody shield of Saladin.
She and Hypatia of Alexandria both deserve to be far better known.
Each one a victim of the same patriarchal poison.
