From AP "Twin Bomb Explosions kill 20 in Indonesia"
JAKARTA, Indonesia — Suspected Muslim militants set off two bombs Saturday in a Christian-dominated town on the Indonesian island of Sulawesi, killing at least 20 people and wounding 40, police said.Witnesses said both bombs in the town of Tentena struck a busy meat and produce market near a police station. The first was followed 15 minutes later by a much larger one that flattened food stands.
A Christian clergyman and a 3-year-old boy were among the dead, and two policemen were among the wounded, police said.
Later Saturday police found an unexploded bomb outside a church in the same town, part of an area where Muslim-Christian clashes have claimed hundreds of lives since 2000...
Saturday's blasts came two days after warnings of unspecified attacks that prompted the United States to close its embassy and other diplomatic offices in Indonesia until further notice.
Muslims account for 90 percent and Christians about 8 percent of people in Indonesia, the world's most populous Muslim nation. But on Sulawesi, the Muslim and Christian populations are roughly equal...
Four years ago, suspected militants from the al-Qaida-linked Jemaah Islamiyah terror group bombed 11 churches on Christmas Eve, killing 19 people. The group was also blamed for the 2002 nightclub bombings that killed 202 people on the resort island of Bali, a 2003 attack on the JW Marriott hotel in Jakarta and a blast at the Australian Embassy in September.
In January, police discovered 60 homemade bombs stashed in an abandoned house in Poso, about 35 miles from Tentena...

Australian press say Indonesian justice merciless in Corby case
SYDNEY (AFP): Australian newspapers on Saturday defended the integrity of the Indonesian justice system but said it had failed to show mercy to Schapelle Corby, the young Australian sentenced to 20 years for smuggling cannabis into the resort island ofBali.
"Nation's fury" Sydney's Daily Telegraph declared on its front page, comparing Corby's sentence with that given to Muslim cleric Abu Bakar Ba'asyir for his role in planning the 2002 Bali bombing.
"This terrorist planned the murder of 88 Australians and got two years. Yesterday Schapelle Corby got 20," the tabloid said.
The Australian newspaper said "Judges show Corby no mercy" while the Sydney Morning Herald focused on the prosecutors' determination to appeal for a heavier sentence.
The Herald's website and Channel Nine's ninemsn portal both reported record numbers of hits as Australians logged on to find out the verdict of the case that has transfixed the country for more than six months.
The Herald said the Corby trial had stopped the nation, with workers crowding around office television sets to watch the court's verdict on the charges against the 27-year-old beauty therapist
Indonesia is a dangerous test case whereion wahabi poison is spreading its roots outside the middle east and succeeding bigtime. pakistan and b'desh too are pretty much radicalised non-arab countries.
Indonesia is a hellhole, sinking economy, destabilizing polity, bad rights record and what not. They don retain lots of spoiler potential though as they can create havoc in the shipping espressway of the malacca straits region. Indonesia's arrogance post tsunami during our relief efforts dismayed me. No more aid to these ingrates I say. we owe nobody a living!
I thought, on reading this (and too much like it), why the Muslim apologists hadn't set up a site called "CHISTIANWATCH.ORG" TO SHOW ALL OF THE COUNTER EXAMPLES they usually (fallaciously) cite to 'balance out' all of the daily Islamic terroristic threats and heinous acts, -and, out of curiousity, entered that in the search, and came up with something intriguing. High court upholds Bakar Bashir's guilty verdict
16/05/2005 - 08:18:57
Indonesia’s high court has upheld a 30-month prison sentence for accused terror chief Abu Bakar Bashir for conspiracy in the 2002 Bali nightclub bombings, a court official said today.
Lawyers for Bashir, who the US and Australia allege is the spiritual head of the al-Qaida-linked Jemaah Islamiyah terror group, said they had yet to be informed of the decision but would appeal to the Supreme Court.
Bashir was convicted in March of conspiracy in the Bali bombings, which killed 202 people, but cleared him of more serious charges of planning the 2003 attack on the US-owned JW Marriott hotel in Jakarta that killed 12 people.
Husein Kasing, a spokesman for Jakarta High Court, said judges there “had rejected the appeal” filed by Bashir after that verdict but gave no details on the ruling. The court, which convenes behind closed doors, reached its verdict on May 11, but did not immediately publicise it, as is customary in Indonesia.
The 30-month sentence was decried by the governments of the US and Australia, which were hoping for a longer punishment to deter terrorism in the world’s most populous Muslim nation.
The conspiracy conviction relates to allegations that Amrozi bin Nurhasyim, who was convicted with more than 30 other militants in the Bali bombings, visited Bashir three months before the attacks to ask for his blessing.
Amrozi did not testify during the trial and prosecutors based that part of their case on what police alleged he told them about the meeting. Bashir denied the exchange ever occurred.
“This decision is naked cheating because our key witness, Amrozi, never testified at Bashir’s trial,” said Bashir lawyer Mahendradata, who goes by a single name. “We will now take this to the Supreme Court.”
Bashir, 66, is known for strong anti-Western and anti-Semitic views but has denied any involvement in terrorism.

I read how people here say that it is unfair to criticise the Indonesian legal system.
Isn't it curious how all those Indonesian Generals and Muslim officers got off scot free after raising East Timor to the ground. Indonesian justice is very odd.

The disparity in the sentences between the Aussie girl who smuggled a little bit of weed and the mastermind of the Bali bombing is astonishing and outrageous. Is this Islamic justice? What price the life of Kaffirs?
The former Indonesian President, Megawati Sukarnoputri announced Indonesia's intent to implement a fierce war on drugs in 2002. She called for the execution of all drug dealers. "For those who distribute drugs, life sentences and other prison sentences are no longer sufficient," she said. "No sentence is sufficient other than the death sentence." Indonesia's new president, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, also proudly supports executions for drug dealers.
This is the very same Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, mentioned here
The illegal Laskar Jihad and its deceitful protector
In many occasions, The Government of Indonesia through its Coordinating Minister of Political and Security Affair, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, had exposed its supports to 'laskar jihad'! One of Yudhoyono’s latest had even provide an excuse for the involvement of what so called ‘Islamic international terrorists’ in 'laskar jihad’s' outlawed activities, claiming that some International (Western and Christian) NGOs were seen to have been supporting Christians ever since the conflict broke out. Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono purposely ignored the fact that what these NGOs had supplied were mostly food and medication, even to Moslem refugees. One thing that bothers Yudhoyono and 'laskar jihad' is that these NGOs knew and revealed the true story about the conflicts out to the world. They therefore, described such reports as ‘Western and Christian accusations against Islam’ that call for International involvement such as from North American and European countries or from the United Nations to overpower Moslems in Indonesia. The presence of 'laskar jihad' is therefore, justified (?).

Two long but imformative articles.
Bill in Virginia-
I think this "Christianwatch" site should be entitled "rabid-anti-christian-and-anti-papist watch-out-for-me.org". It is the weird old slanders (Jesus' real father was a Roman centurion named 'Pantera' [Pandera]); everything in Christianity is a deception {"The Passover Plot"], etc. Tepid retread venom.
Pure hate, posing as revelation.
I'll take the 'Sermon on the Mount' over this 'Murmur from a Nut' any day. (And I'm a skeptic ...who culls from Taoism, Buddhism, Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism and poetic secularism as it fits the honest, seeking intelligence and loving, unfolding heart.)
The BBC has written a piece on this article that further reveals the pro-Islam, and what amounts to pro-Jihadist mentality at work at one of the largest and most influential news organizations in the world.
Here it is.

"Blasts strike Indonesian market
Two bombs have exploded in a market in central Indonesia, killing at least 19 people and wounding 20, police said.
The blasts happened in the town of Tentena, on the island of Sulawesi, about 60km (37 miles) from the coastal town of Poso.
Hundreds of people have been killed in violent clashes between Muslims and Christians that first broke out on the island in 1998.
A peace deal was agreed in 2001, but sporadic violence has continued.
Two police officers were reportedly among those wounded in the Saturday morning bombs, which took place about 15 minutes apart in a crowded area.
"The market was packed. It lies in the heart of the town. Victims have been taken to hospital," one listener told El Shinta, a local radio station.
Background of violence
Tentena is a predominantly Christian town that has in the past acquired a reputation as being a dangerous area for Muslims, reports the BBC's Tim Johnston in Bali.
However, there have been tentative attempts at reconciliation over recent months, our correspondent says.
There is no clear evidence that religious tensions were behind the blasts. Police say they are still investigating.
Two bombs exploded Poso last month but there were no injuries and only minimal damage.
At the beginning of the year, security forces found 60 homemade bombs stashed in an empty house in the town.
On Thursday, the United States sealed all of its four diplomatic missions in Indonesia because of a security threat.
More than 80% of Indonesians are Muslim but in certain parts of the country, such as central Sulawesi, there are similar numbers of Christians and Muslims."
The article immediately articulates an excuse for the violence: "Tentena is a predominantly Christian town that has in the past acquired a reputation as being a dangerous area for Muslims, reports the BBC's Tim Johnston in Bali.".
So, like suicide bombings in Israel, like Madrid, like the carnage of the Jihad in Iraq, like Russian airliners, like any Jihadist mass murder, an excuse for the carnage is immediately offered up, another 'response' to aggression and hostility. But, of course, the article does not want to admit that Muslims are responsible: "There is no clear evidence that religious tensions were behind the blasts. Police say they are still investigating.".
Instead of reporting on the likely ideological motivation of this bloody work of indiscriminate mass murder, that might have very well been a Christmas market in Strasburg, if the plot had not been foiled, instead of reporting on the systematic discrimnation against Christians in Indonesia, the destroyed churches, the enormous and growing potential for more carnage and destruction, the BBC wants us to know that "There is no clear evidence that religious tensions were behind the blasts. Police say they are still investigating.".
Thanks for keeping us on our toes BBC.
Bill in Virginia,
Speaking as a secularist, I know there are still theological differences among the Christian faiths, but let's not get off on some kind of wierd "Catholics vs. the rest" tangent. Frankly, there are few indeed who care any longer about such theological differences, as you each are following the same god in your own way.
In short, cool it.
Imam Geoff
I agree, Geoff. We all need each other, we cannot break ranks, I am not Catholic, but I welcome them in this struggle against darkness of the soul.
BBC is probably the biggest Islamic apologist new org in the world. Here's a small guide of BBC dictionary.
Terrorist == IRA Guys
Militants,Sepratists == LeT,JeM et al.
Zealots == RSS Guys
They always refer to RSS/HSS/BD/VHP as if they are terrorist organisations. But even when LeT goes on yet another Hindu murdering spree in Kashmir they dare to call them separatists. India treats those Kashmiri traitors far better than even Muslim countries treat theirs. India has allowed Hurriyat an umbrella organisation o 15 "moderate" terrorist organisations. Indian government allows them to go to Pakistan.Hold rallies challenging Sovereignity of Indian Union.

That is a pity. The historic lesson is that if one appeases, one pays a much greater price. This is even more true when appeasing the islamists.
How ironic would it be if one of the BBC's non biased terrorist appeasing reporters was kidnapped and beheaded. I wonder if they would report the killers as militants or terrorists.
The Indo's been wiping out Christians just like they wiped out the Chinese merchants of Jakarta a few years back.
Not to worry, we give them Tsunami billions, we give them military training, we never accuse them of any wrongdoing and we feel guilty. (Is our government putting drugs in our water or are we hypnotized by the Muzzie menace?)
Now they are killing our kids -legally-, our Dhimmi politicos call it 'Justice' (as if there was such a thing in a corrupt cess-pool like Indonesia!)
Not only do the Bali bombers get out of Jail to have coffee at Starbucks, but the instigator Bashir gets a slap on the wrist!
Once the try the other 8 Aussies (accused of smuggling) and let them face the firing squad you will see the Aussies wake up! The Inso's been harrassing Ausssies under any pretext since they had to give up Timor. Just remember: Apart from killing several hundred thousand they made sure no building was left standing.
We should have learned our lessons. Did we?

Pegcity-
If a BBC reporter were killed in Iraq (or elsewhere) by Islamic terrorists, the BBC would report it as a mistake.
"part of an area where Muslim-Christian clashes have claimed hundreds of lives since 2000..."
Love the part about 'Muslim-Christian clashes', kinda like 'my face clashed with your fist'.
Oh, here's some examples of those 'Muslim-Christian clashes':
"Four years ago, suspected militants from the al-Qaida-linked Jemaah Islamiyah terror group bombed 11 churches on Christmas Eve," killing 19 people."
Oh, I thought al Qaida weren't 'real' Muslims, that they misunderstood the Koran? I guess they are really defenders of the Muslims.
