But there have been enough temples destroyed in the past. "Militants blow up bridge on Amarnath yatra route," from PTI, with thanks to Sunindia. The "militants" in question are, of course, the mujahedin of Kashmir.
Militants have blown up a bridge on the route to holy cave shrine of Amarnath in Pahalgam area of Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir, official sources said here today.Bridge no. 2 at Chandanwari, 15 km from Pahalgam, was blown up by using an Improvised Explosive Device late Monday night, the sources said.
Chandanwari is the first halting station for the pilgrims en route to the holy cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas.
For those of u who haven't heard of Amarnath cave, it it one of the holiest shrine in Hinduism & the holiest Hindu shrine in North India which Muslims haven't managed to desecrate. Five years back hundreds of Hindus used to die whilst on a pilgrimage to Amarnath. Indian army has to deploy 20,000 soldiers in 50 km route to the shrine to ensure the safety of pilgrims

But it was too late. 40% of Kashmir came under the control of Pakistan who promptly destroyed everything non-Muslim, sent millions of "settlers" and displaced millions of Hindus. The rest (excluding a 10% snatch by the Chicoms) has been called "Indian-Controlled" or "Indian Occupied" Kashmir.
The Jihadis of Kashmir/Pakistan are utterly and completely without morals and show no hesitation at all in slaughtering pilgrims, clergymen, farmers, women, and children who's only crime is being non-Muslim. And God help those innocent Hindus if Bush and the "palestinians" get their way and "earn" their nationhood through a terror campaign.

Being British i may not be qualified to talk on India. But i sure do know a lot more about it than my cousins living in India. Frankly i learnt about Moplah revolt from Hugh's articles when i glanced through my cousin's history books i found it put as a "glorious chapter in Indian independence movement when simple peasents dared to challenge the might of British Empire" but they fail to mention the jihadi nature of it. The history of India before Islamic times has been reduced to a mere footnote and students are drilled in communist philosohy. (Note i am refering to Maharashtra SSC Board History text books classes 6 to 10). The greatest enemies of Hindus in India are Hindus themselves. Hindus have a myopic view of life. Many Hindus (especially Bengalis) feel free to defend Islam while critising their own religion. Indian english language media is unahamedly islamic apologist. Lemme share some *horrifying* news. The Indian Army, according to my "confidential sources", is pretty much adriot at this game now. You only hear of "militants" (read frothing rabid jihadi asswipes) killed in mysterious *encounters* with security forces, seldom of 'militant arrests'. 2 reasons for this :
1. The army doesn't wanna risk taking prisoners and then spark off kidnappings and ransom demands for the release of hostages [New Delhi has a sterling reputation of repeatedly caving into terrorist demands if things are sufficiently high profile]. They'd prefer convenient armed encounters instead.
2. The jihadis know better than to fall alive into army hands. There've been reports of obscene brutality inflicted on captured indian troops. The army now is no longer gentle with captured jihadis prior to encounters, of course.
Besides, Kashmir's heterogeneity aids the army. There're shia dominated areas, (kargil, gilgit, baltistan etc) and then there're buddhist areas (leh) apart from the hindu areas. The jihadis have a hard time operating outside the sunni areas proper.
