Navy investigates carrier security breach

Abdoul Masmoud Yessoufou update. From CNN, with thanks to Peter, who notes: "If he's 'not a terrorist,' he has some interesting hobbies."

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- U.S. and British military and law enforcement officials are investigating how a man was able to sneak on board the USS Harry S. Truman last month while the aircraft carrier was making a port call in Portsmouth, England.

He apparently was able breach British security at the dock and then board a small ferryboat that carried crew members to the Truman, which was anchored a short distance from the shore.

Navy officials believe the intruder was on board the ship for about half an hour before he was caught. The incident occurred April 9.

Security personnel searched the area where the intruder was caught and found that he had not planted any explosives or caused any damage. It was determined that he was not a terrorist.

British law enforcement officials identified the intruder as Abdoul Masmoud Yessoufou, and told CNN that he also had tried to breach security at British airports and other military facilities.

"It was determined that he was not a terrorist."

Next...

i'm sure an exhaustive check of all his acquaintences, mosque and travel itinerary was made before releasing him with a slap on the wrist!

Sorry, Shukri, but that's what the W sycophants are TOLD to say by their overlords in Saudi Arabia... I think that most reasonable people should agree that it is waaaay too soon to draw that conclusion. Just ask yourself this, what are the odds, that of all the people in America, a Muslim would do this? And ask yourself, if not for terrorism reconaissance or "balloon floating", why WOULD anyone do this?

Do you think this is a coincidence? Or was he a plant by Mossad or some other world-takeover Zionist cabal?

The next attack will come by sea, mark my words.

I thought I remembered this story correctly.

He has also been apprehended trespassing in Heathrow and Southampton Airports.

"It was determined that he was not a terrorist."
Yes well there's more than one way of killing a cat other than choking it with cream.

Maybe it is just his hobby...kinda like building models or jogging...he just happens to like breaching secure locations for no reason whatsoever..

Its a new jihad extreme sport. Extreme security breaching, man we should give him a camera and tell him to go do some security breaching at area 51.

"British law enforcement officials identified the intruder as Abdoul Masmoud Yessoufou, and told CNN that he also had tried to breach security at British airports and other military facilities."

Shukri, why, why did he want to breach military security?

Cause he's alway been a big fan of GI Joe and wanted to rub shoulders with men he considered heroes?

Or is there a more fantastic excuse?

Yes of course there is. Listen carefully while I intone the following:

Islam is a religion of peace, Islam is a religion of peace, Islam is a religion of peace ...

Most Americans do not realize that such incidents are taking place on American soil after 9/11. Are officials trying not to alarm the American public? Or is this a politically correct strategy born of the success that canny American Muslim advocacy groups have had in portraying themselves as victims since 9/11: are officials trying to protect innocent Muslims from backlash?

Whatever their motivations, they are keeping Americans in the dark about the true nature and extent of the jihadist terror threat in our own country. The consequences of that can only be negative.

The whole shebang was out of reach for the last 15 minutes.

The U.S.S. Enterprise went to General Quarters one late night in 1978. We were due into Pearl Harbor the next morning, having departed Subic Bay several days earlier enroute home from a Western Pacific deployment.

The airwing and crew found out the next day the reason for the GQ.

Several crewmen had smuggled about a dozen of their relatives aboard at Subic Bay. Although the relatives were appropriately dressed in dungarees and maintenance jerseys during the transit, they 'caught the eyes' of a few astute sailors who wondered why their 'shipmates' spent all of their time in the berthing compartments.

Various security breaches have occured aboard naval vessels in the years since--some with disaterous results (the U.S.S. Cole comes to mind--yes, they could have done a better job).

But to have someone just waltz aboard is pretty significant.

Heads will roll.

Weapons Belonging to Terror Suspect Found
Hooo doggies! Way down yonder on the Chattahoochee, authorities have found a jihadist weapons cache. From Fox News, with thanks to Jeffrey Imm:
The FBI believes it found weapons belonging to a terror suspect who trained at the same Atlanta flight school as two of the Sept. 11 hijackers and who was recently detained but has since been released, FOX News has learned.
Zayead Christopher Hajaig, a Nigerian-born Briton, was arrested in London on April 8, shortly after the FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force issued a worldwide alert for him. Sources at the bureau told FOX News that Hajaig was questioned and released; authorities believe he is still in Britain.
FBI sources told FOX News that a person linked to Hajaig contacted the FBI's Atlanta bureau and turned over a number of weapons said to have been owned by the suspect.
The tipster also told authorities that two other weapons were dumped into the Chattahoochee River at Hajaig's behest. One of the weapons described was recovered in a search of the river by the Cobb County dive team on Tuesday.
It was unknown if the weapons had been used in any crimes or were intended for use in a future plot.
An FBI spokesman would not comment on Hajaig's whereabouts or why he was released by British authorities. An investigation by the bureau and Immigration and Customs Enforcement was ongoing, a press release said.
Hajaig, 35, had aroused suspicions of flight instructors at Gwinnett County Airport, where lead Sept. 11, 2001, hijacker Mohamed Atta and fellow hijacker Marwan al-Shehhi had trained. Hajaig was living in the United States illegally but was still able to obtain a pilot's license from the Federal Aviation Administration in April 2002, authorities said.
Hajaig apparently pushed to have his pilot rating upgraded despite being underqualified. The Joint Terrorism Task Force warning said he became "aggressive and attempted to have the flight school accelerate his training."...

Desert in the life of the Arab
By M.S.N. Menon

NOTHING reflects the impermanence of things as the desert. It is inconstant, treacherous, cruel and never the same.

The Arab is a creature of the desert. He is as rootless as the shifting sand dunes around him. No wonder, he was not in love with the life he led. He yearned for another life. Which is why the Arab heaven is made for pleasure and the earth remains a dreary place for endless namaaz and prayers.

The Arab had no past to think of. Or to be proud about. It was as empty as the desert in which he lived. It was, therefore, no matter to him if his history began from Adam or from Mohammed. In the event, he chose Mohammed, and expected the world to follow suit.

Dahilia, the city he built, was made entirely of sand. The Prophet of Islam hoped to re-build it to last. But would it really last, asks Salman Rushdie, author of The Satanic Verses, a satire on Islam? He is not sure. He says: “I, in my wickedness, sometimes imagine the coming of a great wave, a high wall of foaming water, roaring across the deserts, a liquid catastrophe... a tidal wave that would reduce these vain sand castles to the nothingness, to the grains, from which they came.”

Rushdie may well be seeing a mirage in the Arab desert, for I see no tidal wave yet in the Arab landscape. If anything, I see a continuing petro-dollar wave that threatens to engulf the world in terror by arming the illiterate billion of raw recruits with machetes, if not with the bomb. It is true, the petro-dollar wave is as impermanent as the sand dunes. It is a flash in the pan, as they say, for how long will the oil boom last in terms of the aeons of human life? One day the desert will claim the new palaces of the Sheikhs, and Dahilia will return to the howling desert it was before.

No less were his Simian traits responsible for destroying everything he did not understand. He did not understand the Greeks, the Egyptians or the Indians. And because he did not understand, he wanted to destroy all that they had built.

Which is why the Arab had a score to settle with the rest of humanity. God had been kind to all but the Arab. He gave him the desert. Why was God so partial? To test him, to make him an instrument of God, to prepare him for world conquest, to Islamise the world, says the Mullah. Did not God give him oil, the liquid gold?

The Arab is said to be the son of the desert. In fact, he is its father, for it is he who fathered it by his destructive ways of life (C.S. Jarvis). No less were his Simian traits responsible for destroying everything he did not understand. He did not understand the Greeks, the Egyptians or the Indians. And because he did not understand, he wanted to destroy all that they had built.

These are not the views of an anti-Arab polemicist, but of Ibn Khaldun (1332-1406), the greatest Arab historian and the father of the science of historiography. Let us hear what he had to say. He says: “Mark how all the countries of the world, which have been conquered and dominated by the Arabs, have had their civilisations ruined, their population dispersed and even the soil itself apparently transformed. Thus, Yemen is in ruins, except for a few districts. Iraq, which was flourishing under the Persians, is devastated. So is Syria at the present day. In North Africa and the Meghrib... ruin and devastation still prevail. Yet, before, all the countries lying between Sudan and the Mediterranean formed the centre of a flourishing civilisation as witnessed by the remains of buildings and statues and the ruins of towns and villages...” (An Arab Philosophy of History translated by Issawi, 1950, p. 57).

In all the territories the Arabs conquered, two processes were at work—Islamisation and Arabisation. The idea was to extinguish the memory.

Khaldun is not the only one to leave his curse on the Arabs. Firdausi, author of Shahnama (History of the Persian Empire) writes: “It (Persia) was the home of the mighty warriors and the royal seat of great monarchs. Now it has become the scene of woe and want and the hunting ground of a blood-thirsty dragon” (the Arabs).

The Egyptians were never Arabs. Today they call themselves Arabs! But they are not reconciled to their new status.

It is true, little did the world know the extent of the damage done by the Arabs. Northecote Parkinson writes: “In the 9th century, the merits of Islam were much in evidence and the long-term devastation had still perhaps to be fully realised,” which is why the fierce Mongol Khan, a Buddhist, gave up his faith and embraced Allah.

The people are known by their arts and thoughts. If so, the Arab had none of the two. The Quran was his first book. “It might seem odd,” says Parkinson, “that these nomads should invent anything.”

The Arab was notorious for his idleness. Naturally, his women had to do much of the labour. This is told on their looks. The Arab had a solution for it: he took to polygamy.

The Arab lived by raiding others. Robbery became a way of his life. The Ummayad poet, Al-Qutani says: “Our business is to make raids on the enemy, on our neighbour and on our own brother in case we find none to raid but a brother.” What did they do? They sanctified their ways and made the raids into Jehad against the infidels. Robbing the infidel had the sanction of their religion.

From smokem's link -

) There is evidence that North Africa was not always a desert; in Ancient Egyptian times, it was quite fertile, and subsequently, North Africa was the breadbasket of the Roman Empire, with cargo ships crossing the mediterranean bringing grain from there to Italy. Similarly, the 'fertile crescent' was not the barren land that we currently consider it. (Some argue that it became barren after the Mongols destroyed its irrigation system; but that implies that the inhabitants of the time didn't rebuild it after the Mongols left - which is strange.)

2) Clearly, Islam has been able to spread into a number of tropical areas - such as Bangladesh and South East Asia. So desertification per se is not necessary for Islam.

If this is indeed the case, then we should expect regions like Bangladesh, Pakistan and Indonesia to become steadily less fertile over time. This would demonstrate that Islam is not only politically harmful, spiritually perverted and economically ineffective - but also enivronmentally dangerous as well.

May 10, 2005
Navy investigates carrier security breach
Abdoul Masmoud Yessoufou update. From CNN, with thanks to Peter, who notes: "If he's 'not a terrorist,' he has some interesting hobbies."

Here's a little commentary by the Washington Bureau Chief of Al-Hayat, courtesy of MEMRI, especially for Shurki, to help him understand what is really going on in the Middle East:

'Al-Hayat' Washington Bureau Chief: Some Arab Regimes Support Terrorism in Iraq to Thwart Democracy

The Washington, D.C. bureau chief of the London Arabic-language daily Al-Hayat, Salama Na'mat, accused some Arab regimes of supporting terrorism in Iraq in order to thwart the emergence of democracy in the Arab world. The following are excerpts from his article: [1]

The Aim of Terrorism in Iraq is to Prolong the Occupation

"When the Saddamist terrorism in Iraq targets the elected, the security forces, the army, and the [Iraqi] National Guard, its aim is to prolong the [U.S.] occupation by thwarting the process of building national, political, security, and military institutions that can protect the country and ensure its stability. The terrorists and their supporters in the region and worldwide know that the Iraqi government cannot demand that the foreign forces leave before it can handle the security situation - and that is precisely what they are trying to thwart.

"Nevertheless, [some] Arab governments, as well as writers and commentators in the Arab media, still insist on describing the criminals, who murder Iraqis by the hundreds and even thousands, as 'resistance' to the occupation - even though they are the primary cause of the prolongation of the occupation beyond next year.

"They insist on blaming the killing of Iraqis on the Americans - as though the suicide bombers who blow themselves up in order to kill as many [Iraqi] National Guard and policemen as possible were American."

The Aim of the Arab Regimes is to Prevent the Spread of Democracy in the Region

"…It is no secret that the American military forces are deployed in 70 countries worldwide, including strong countries like Germany and Japan. The Arab countries and Gulf countries also host these forces, as part of military agreements with strategic implications, and, [like in Iraq,] this is in accordance with these countries' interests...

"What is the responsibility of the regimes and the official and semi-official media in the countries bordering Iraq in legitimizing the operations that murder Iraqis?... Isn't their goal to thwart [the emergence of] the newborn democracy in Iraq so that it won't spread in the region?

"The terrorists may succeed in postponing the birth of the new Iraq in its democratic and pluralistic form - which is exceptional in the region - but they will not succeed in restoring Iraq to the pre-[Saddam] era. The Iraqis have no option other than to progress along a single path - the path to full independence - that will bring an end to the foreign protectorate, whether American/international [i.e. coalition forces] or terrorist/regional [i.e. Al-Zarqawi]..."

The Enemies of Democracy Will Move on to Lebanon

"If the forces of destruction succeed in disrupting the democratic model, there will be numerous implications. One is that [their] success in one place will encourage similar successes in other places in which [democracy] is being built.

"It is reasonable to assume that the hired killers will move on from Iraq to Lebanon, after coming to Iraq from Afghanistan. If the enemies of democracy put their lives on the line to wipe out [democracy] in Afghanistan, and after that in Iraq, it makes no sense for them to allow it to flourish in Lebanon.

"The forces of darkness and their natural allies in the regimes [neighboring Iraq] are insisting on turning the dream of democracy into a living hell..."

And if you doubt MEMRI's integrity when it comes to relaying what appears in Arab/Muslim media, here's the cite:

[1] Al-Hayat (London), May 5, 2005.

Carolyn2,

My impression of smokem's quote from Menon is that "desertification" refers to an intellectual process, not a meteorological one. Everywhere the Muslim goes, the mind is paralyzed, innovation stops, productivity is reduced to virtually nothing--well, you understand.

Islam is not the friend of knowledge.

BTW,

Smokem, don't worry too much about Iran. You would not believe the firepower and the resolve of the American subs in the Mediterranean.

I don't know anything about the Israeli subs, but if they are there too, so much the better.
