How about this? This ally in the War on Terror is perpetuating an al-Qaeda jihad.
Recent public statements about Yemen paint a dire picture. Ayatollah al-Sistani and the religious establishment in Najaf, Iraq said there is a "brutal massacre" of Shiites going on. The defecting Yemeni Ambassador has stated that high ranking members of the Yemeni government and military are affiliated with al-Qaeda. Putting together the massacre with the al-Qaeda, it's like another 9/11 unfolding slowly in the mountains and cities of Yemen.
The Yemeni Ambassador to Syria, Ahmed Abdullah al-Hasani, is attempting to defect to the UK. He says that members of Al-Qaeda are in the highest ranks of Yemen's military and security forces. Al-Hasani says that it is very likely that President Ali Abdullah Saleh "knew in advance of the Cole explosion" which killed 17 U.S. servicemen. Indeed, Freedom House in 2003 reported that Saleh refused to even investigate the Cole bombing until the United States threatened military action. Also in 2003, al-Qaeda praised President Saleh as the only Arab and Muslim leader who is not an agent for the West or the East.
Currently President Saleh is refusing to act against terrorist financing, probably earning him more praise. Only one bank account in Yemen was frozen in response to a 2003 UN Security Council Sanctions Committee directive to freeze 144 terrorist affiliated accounts of persons, companies, and organizations. The other 143 terrorist associated bank accounts in Yemen remain fully functional. In 2004, the UN Sanctions Committee list of al-Qaeda owned Yemeni bank accounts was not even issued by the Yemeni government to Yemeni banks...

Unfortunately, the U.S. military has become so p.c. lately they are indicting their own soldiers for killing the enemy (two recent trials luckily ended in acquitals, but the examples are counterproductive, at best, for morale and recruitment). One Marine is still being investigated for "shooting the enemy too many times". As if such a thing is possible during wartime.
This Bulgarian officer reminds me of a vignette from the historical work "A Bridge Too Far", which became a debacle for the Allies in the Fall of 1944 as they drove into Holland in an attempt to cut of the Nazi forces and gain a bridgehead.
A Dutch officer warned the Allied planners that The Netherlands' military had already worked out a similar operation during the 1930's as a 'sand table exercise', and the Allies were repeating a fatal mistake in their strategy of parachuting troops near the bridge at Arnheim. He explained that the landing zone would be polders (muddy farm fields) which would trap the airborne troops, and the entire thrust of the assualt couldn't help but bog down. They would have to rethink that part of the plan, he said.
The Allies didn't take him seriously, went ahead with 'Operation Marketgarden' as devised, and it turned into a disaster. Just as the Dutch officer warned.
It helps to listen to your allies.
Correct you are BigSleep - We still have some allies (more then MSM wants to let onto) and Lt Pantano USMC (successful young man who witnessed first-hand WTC horrors and left family, fine career to go fight the islamofacists) found not guilty - only to be immediately taken to new trial for other allegations (used too many bullets-???)...Last i could bare to look into that- learned that a USAF Officer/lawyer was the prosecution side...
G-d bless all who serve their country(ies), but USAF=PC, USMC=not-PC when it comes to war fighting. War zone must be no-PC zones and conducted by non-PC-minded fighters. There is no room for PC, and less time for PC evaluations. Warfare sucks enough - PC gets people killed in war -it's that crystal clear simple - period. Warfare is the worst of all human activities - but it ain't going away -because some PC-niks don't like it - It's an unfortunate fact of life and must be conducted by those with total understanding of what all that is required.
PC-niks, MSM, many politians, etc. are just not qualified - and should be asked to/or forced to get out of the way. The absolute last thing one does - with real blood flowing everywhere - is start a discussion/or philosphical session about what, why, meaning of life, etc. Also unfortunate fact - war is not about life. Army goes to war - discussion/philosphy ends. It's that simple. If nations are not willing/capable/able - then they should never go to war (e.g. most PC nations of today),
but when we get to that point --where a nation wants to PCoverdose on reality -
the JACKALS will come - also inevitable - fact of life. So either fight them before they show up at your home - or meet them when they come to yours. Either way these jackals in their PC form - or unmasked- are not stopping on their path to us.
on one hand it is nobel to fight a "humane" war using every rule possible - on the other hand - it's can be suicide if taken too far (which PC at all levels has done and continues to do).

Many now feel/believe that it will take some kind of major crisis (again) to shake the US up enough so that it will do what needs to be done...if it still is capable (I think it is - we just don't hear that side of the story - enough/at all via MSM)
I absolutely hate to agree-but I don't know what else will get people to end the PC attitudes about this ongoing world-wide real and major crisis (which is going more serious -daily)
