A DUNDEE University graduate told last night how he and his family found themselves at the centre of a terror alert when a passenger on board their holiday flight started shouting slogans linked with Muslim extremism, forcing the flight to be aborted and evacuation of their plane.James Dargie (32), a 1995 geography graduate now working as a marine data manager with the Countryside Council for Wales, told how passengers "screamed with terror" when a man of Muslim origin started shouting "Allah Achbar" or "God is Great" as their plane taxied for take-off at Larnaca Airport in Cyprus yesterday afternoon.
Mr Dargie, who had boarded London-bound BA flight 663 with his wife Mona and young son Tomos just minutes earlier, told how a "wave of panic" spread among passengers as the chanting began.
As airline staff tried to ascertain what was happening, the captain announced that the flight was being aborted before it had even begun and all passengers and crew would have to leave the aircraft.
As security personnel boarded the plane, the disruptive passenger was quickly taken into custody and all other passengers were required to disembark...
... and hopefully, the offending passenger was summarily shot. :)
At least the crew had the sense to realize that the "Religion of Peace" was anything but that.

I read somewhere that not only was Allahu Akbar a battle cry, it had the ability to amplify or increase Allah power in the battle.
According to that, Allah Akbar and Allah(U) Akbar are not exactly the same. Allahu is Allah in extention and was apparently used by Mohammad in that manner. I just read that, and am not sure of accuracy...sounds good though...In Qabalistic ritual magic, L.U.X. is sometimes used for similar reasons (not battles)...light in extention...God or Light amplified...What does it all mean?...I dont know, I'll let you figure that one out....
How obnoxious and insensitive of this passenger to yell such things on a flight. Has he lived under a rock all this time? Does he not realize how his words could be taken by others? Courage is always greatest in the absence of threat. I feel the same way as many have expressed here. I feel like I wouldn't have had a problem beating the crap out of the guy on the plane. Well why didn't anyone on the plane feel that way? Could it be just that ... the words "Allah Achbar" are all it takes to instill terror in the masses now?
I put to you that until a group of passengers says enough is enough and beats the living daylights out of the next wanker that shouts "Allah Achbar" or tries some other shenanigans we'll have to live in fear of this crap.

One collateral benefit of this incidence is that a precedent has been set, that shouting "allah achbar" on a airplane, is illegal and will be dealt with harshly.
No one's yet commented on the most important part of that article. For all that we read about people getting up in arms trying to prevent 'discrimination', or 'racial profiling' or being very PC about multiculturalism, the minute that the cry "Allah Ackbar! Allahu ackbar!" was heard, the crowd panicked. People know. We are all beginning to realize, at least on some level, that trying to be politely inclusive of murderers just may not be in our best interest.
And I agree with the heroic Italian man- although no one knows how he or she will act if G-d forbid that time comes, it would be nice to believe that each of us would face that fate heroically and spit on those sniveling cowards.

I don't know if the inclusion of the 'U' with Allah is anything particularly special - it could have been just a more formal way of using the word or name of ALLAH.
There could very well be truth to what you read - as Allah had 3 daughters - one was named ALLAT or Allatu - then another one of Allah's daughters was named Manat or Manatu.
Just like they say Abdullah or servant of Allah - a common name of the time was also Abdu’Manat or servant of the Goddess Manat.
Allah's daughter Allatu - became the Moon Goddess Leto to the Greeks and mother of Apollo. 'Al' simply means 'the'. So in Allah's case it meant ‘the God’ and in Allatu's case it meant ‘the Goddess’.
These were the Gods of Muhammad’s father - that is why Allah's name could be built into Muhammad’s fathers name before Islam existed. Muhammad - maybe wanting to be more Jewish-like and have a ONE GOD - striped away the 3 daughters - and kept the father figure Allah or ancient Moon God Allah - cheif God of the Kaaba at Mecca and God of his family the Quraish.

Take care here - don't believe quite everything you read in the media. Remember I was there! The Islamic aspect to this story has been overplayed. The guy (in my opinion) had a panic attack and was blind; I think he was praying. He was a public order problem, but never left his seat - this was not terrorism related. He said a lot more very loudly in possibly Urdu. If anyone was terrified it was him. Some passengers were concerned at events, but the incident was handled in proportion by British Airways staff. The security stuff was a pre-caution - it was right to take that pre-caution.
Beating up terrified individuals is really not very smart! One of the problems on-board the aircraft was the reaction of other passengers who shouted for his removal, rather than letting the cabin crew sort it out (which they were already doing), this made the guy even more scared. The cabin crew were pleading with drunk 'western' passengers not to make the situation worse.
He was not chucked off for the Allah Akbar line, but for the fact he was causing a disturbance and would not shut up.
