Saudi Scholars Demand Perpetrators of Qur'an Abuse be Tried by Islamic Court

Never mind that it probably never even happened; they want somebody to get the death penalty for it. From AFP, "Saudi scholars want Islamic court to rule on alleged Quran abuse," with thanks to all who sent this in.

RIYADH - Eighteen Saudi Muslim scholars and thinkers demanded Saturday that those involved in the alleged desecration of the Quran at the US detention facility of Guantanamo Bay be tried by an Islamic court.

“It won’t do any good if the State Department (eventually) apologizes or if it rejects this act, or if its authors are tried,” they said in a statement obtained by AFP.

“That would amount to throwing dust in the eyes as was the case in the trials of those who committed the crimes (of abusing prisoners at Iraq’s) Abu Ghraib jail ... The Islamic nation will not settle for less than the trial (of the Guantanamo culprits) by an Islamic court,” said the mostly Salafi signatories...

“All Muslims are required to strive seriously and consistently to expose the intentions of the aggressor through various media and to revive the boycott of US products,” said the Saudi scholars, who also demanded the release of the Guantanamo detainees...

Eighteen Saudi Muslim scholars and thinkers ......

Muslims scholars and "thinkers". Yeah, I'm real impressed. How big are their turbans?

Muslim thinkers?

Where?

A better title for this article would be, "The Dreams of the Robed Ones."

Nothing on this can be found on th Crescent News Network.

Nonetheless, I await Mr Bushes dhimmi response:

"We respect and admire the religion of peace and tollerance.

To show our respect, the guards at Guantanimo Bay have been placed in irons and handed over to the Saudi government for trial.

I have been assured by the Saudi government that the defilers of the Holy Koran will be fairly treated."

I laughed when I saw this, their arrogance and stupidity knows no bounds!!

I keep thinking of Churchill, they are either at your throat or at your feet, how true.

There was a story on NPR about how you get to be a mullah. I can't come up with the right search phrase this morning to find it however. It went something like, if your college entrance scores are toward the lower end you have to go into religion or journalism. So, "Muslim scholars and thinkers" are from the bottom of the barrel so to speak. I wasn't surprised to hear this myself given the quality of thinking going on by both of those groups in SA.

This really isn't about the toilet Qur'an though, this is just being used to stir up the rabble.

f.g.

Mt letter to the editor this morning.
Siunce they don't have a clue, maybe they'll print it!

There are two words we must all come to know and understand.
The words are Dhimmi and Dhimmitude.
Google both words and learn, for education is our strength and the weakness of our enemies.
Understanding the meanings of these two simple words will provide more national defense than an entire Naval battlegroup.

I wonder how they would feel if they went to a book manufacturing company and saw how their precious book is handled when being put together. A paper book that is more valuable then a human life --amazing,simply amazing!!!

What happens to the webmaster who doesn't pay his bill and his website containing an online Qur'an is shut down?

Mackie:

I stole your comment and sent it in as a letter to the editor.
I hope you don't mind.

If the saudi fiends want the Gitmo guards, they will have to get in line, the Afghans demanded them first...

Can we get these Islamic scholars to tell us what they are doing with all those Bibles that they keep confiscating from Christians that are caught and arrested for praying to God?

According to the UN Arab Development Report (2002), more than half of all degrees granted by Saudi universities are in Islamic Studies and Islamic Literature. Imagine now what will happen if we each have to fully mobilize our economies with the aim (pun intended) of erasing the other off the map of the world. It is not hard to project the outcome. That doesn't mean that the non-muslim world will have it easy or that we won't experience human suffering on a scale not seen since WWII, but the end result is certain. It is up to the jihadis to decide whether to choose to live in their "perfect" 7th century societies in their desert domains with their aspirations of jihad-conquest on permanent hold, or the alternative of brutal military defeat.

The U.S. government and people should demand that these same Saudi Muslim scholars be turned over to the U.S. legal system for prosecution for their treatment of ALL other faiths but Islam (hatecrimes extraordinaire!) in their benighted land. Arresting Christians, Hindus, etc., confiscating Bibles, etc., outlawing the construction of churches, temples, etc.

Their arrogance is nauseating. And delusional.

It is contempt and intolerance carried to the level of world-historical pious fraud.

But...they are the owners of all truth, and we are but lower lifeforms. /sarcasm on my part, but it IS their belief.

One (moi) can only hope that the Saudis make this an absolute demand for continued "good" (i.e., dhimmi) relations.

Can we demand the handover of every Cleric that says "Violence against Americans is ok"?

My guess is they wouldnt have a *supposed* holy man left in Saudi Arabia.

Has anyone noticed the frightening similarities between what is happening in regard to the Abu Ghrab abuses, the Qur'an flushing, alleged abuse of muslim prisoners, etc., and the obfuscation of the real issues that have prevented peace between Israel and the "Palestinians?" All attention has been deflected from the savage muslims and their daily atrocities and is now focused on putative American crimes against Islam. The victim is now the criminal, just like Israel.

Government spokemen, including the President, First Lady, and Secretary of State, seem to have forgotten what instigated our foray into the frenzied lands of Islam and are now prepared to go to any length to placate the implacable. Not a day goes by that our government isn't apologising, appeasing, and pandering to indignant barbarians.

We owe these savages no apologies! The guards and interrogators haven't killed any terrorists in Guantanamo or Abu Ghrab; many of those released went immediately back to the jihad. Everyone knows what they would do if they held American prisoners; everyone knows how they treat their own muslim prisoners! Our soldiers have not beheaded captured terrorists, mutilated bodies after they were incinerated, deliberately killed civilians, or any of the other heinous atrocities muslims commit every day. Their barbaric savagry is silently ignored as our leaders grovel and apologise. How sickening!

It must be incredibly demoralizing for our brave soldiers to see their Commander in Chief groveling at the feet of the enemy, apologising for unproven allegations as if they were true. So what if they did flush a filthy Qur'an down the toilet? It's just a book and I can think of no better place for it than in a sewer. Since when is a book more valuable than human life?

These venerable Islamic scholars must think that Islam already rules the world if they believe our citizens are subject to Islamic law. If we didn't sign on to the International Court, I doubt if we'll let medieval kangaroo courts mete out justice to our soldiers. Or will we? In his relentless quest to spread "democracy" among the brainwashed masses, Bush might go along with anything. It's obvious that he has stumbled off the beaten path in his "war on terror."

Susanp-

I agree with all you say except one detail.

One prisoner at Abu Ghraib is known, by name, to have died in custody (several others are rumored to have died, but their stories are murky so far). Whether it was from wounds that occured during his capture, or not, is being examined.

Susanp- Deflecting attention away is a Kitman strategy. Over the centuries Muslims have perfect and polished this strategy so that they're now so slick that the victims don't realize what's happening to them.

Every intelligent leader/ruler knows that the real power lays with "those" or "he" in control of the military. Keeping on good terms with the military is why Bush, Rummy, even Saddam, go way out of their way to court and placate them. Saddam visited his troops on the battlefield and had dinner with them...Bush, Rummy, Putin, all of them, have dinner with the troops.
If Bush keeps alienating the troops, he will lose some or all that power and start having problems with his generals. I supported Bush because he was the best guy for the job at the time...He was heads and shoulders above the rest of them...but now, he is like a person who has had a serious stroke and sags on one side of their body...he is no longer straight up...his policys or non policys on terrorism, SS, health care, "border concerns", ect, are all on one side and cause him to walk crooked...He is still worth supporting, but he really needs to clean up his act...

Big Sleep, I wasn't aware that one prisoner died in Abu Ghrab. How sad. That will sully the integrity of our armed forces for all eternity. The outrageous hypocrisy of muslims would be funny if they weren't getting away with it, and only because we're letting them.

EPG, if they can use kitman, we can use tu quoque. Tu quoque would be the perfect retaliatory salvo considering that their crimes are far more egregious than ours. But we apologise instead. As far as I'm concerned, this is all just another form of Islamic terrorism and it's working!

Swami, I supported Bush too, even the Iraq debacle at first. I have concluded that Iraq was a big, fat, stupid mistake and removing Saddam was not worth the price we are paying and will continue to pay for decades. There are millions of potential jihadists, an endless supply that will continue to kill and die for Islam. I am sure that the Iraqis will eventually cave in to their demands so the explosions and senseless deaths will cease. Who could blame them?

I never thought I would agree with the Democrats about anything, but I think they were right when they predicted a quagmire. Everything we rebuild or modernize is blown up by the savages. For every step forward we take two back. We are wasting lives and money in Iraq and after all our sacrifices for "democracy", they want an Islamic government. I have lost all optimism, all hope, and all confidence in GWB's Middle East strategy. He doesn't understand the people, the culture, the history, the religion, and apparently none of his advisers do either.

I want to support him, but I cannot support unprotected borders, uncontrolled immigration, esp. muslim immigration, and I refuse to support an amnesty program for illegal Mexicans. I'm not especially worried about Social Security, but I realize that it needs to be fixed. Other things need to be fixed first. He needs to focus on the real enemy--Islam. He needs to get the enemy out of sensitive government positions, like Homeland Security, the military, and the F.B.I. Multiculturalism should be officially declared dead, defunct, gone, history. The terror cells spread throughout America should be dismantled, beginning with C.A.I.R., and all the traitors, terrorists, sympathizers and supporters deported. The borders should be secured and all illegals deported. If none of this is done, Social Security is a trivial concern because many of us won't be alive to collect it.
