UK: Muslim school to become state school?

Islamization of Europe update. "Muslim Primary Waiting For Decision," from the Nottingham Evening Post, with thanks to the Norwegian Kafir:

The decision on whether an independent Muslim school should move into the state sector was made behind closed doors last night.

The Schools Organisation Committee retired to private chambers to decide the fate of Nottingham's Islamia independent school after nearly two hours of discussions.

An announcement is expected soon.

The school wants to become the fourth state-funded Muslim primary in the country.

Principal Dr Musharraf Hussain and Akram Khan-Cheema OBE, representing the school, gave rousing speeches explaining why the 86-pupil primary in Hyson Green should move as a voluntary aided school into the state sector - and share in millions of pounds from the public purse.

Mr Khan-Cheema said: "We no longer want to go with a begging bowl to the LEA. We are part of this wonderful city and we want to live together in mutual harmony."...

The school wants to change from being a £1,600-a-year independent Muslim school to being a 118-place state primary from September...

If it does become a state school it will have to follow the National Curriculum, get inspected by Offsted and keep up academic standards. So in a way this is not as bad as it seems.

Faith schools (mostly Christian, a few Jewish and hardly any Muslim) ofen do better than average academically, partly because they instil discipline. At least that is true of Christian and Jewish schools. I don't know if the same is true of Muslim schools, and would be interested to hear some figures on this.

The school has not been Ofsted tested, neither does it have a report by the Independent Schools Inspectorate. It has a website http://www.nottinghamislamia.com/

get this as a the prospectus "The aim of the School is to produce hardworking, well-mannered and well-informed young Muslims who are able, through their knowledge, skills and good character to benefit fully from the opportunities that Allah provides and to go on to be a positive force for good in society.
In order to achieve this, the objectives of the school are:
To maintain a harmonious Islamic environment
To enable the pupils to develop to their highest capacity as servants of Allah
To deliver a broad, balanced curriculum
To fulfil the academic, physical, moral and spiritual needs of the pupils

lnsha-Allah, whether at home, at work or at college they will be at the forefront of Islamic activity in their personal and social lives, trusting in Allah, relying on Him, and seeking His pleasure."

It's a mixed school although the only picture is of the boys. There is very little study information, (what do you imagine is Islamic Arts and crafts???) and absolutely no information about library facilities, sports facilities, the science laboratory, IT, or the dozens of things I would look for in any school for my child. Which would feature in the prospectus for any Christian school, independent or state. The links page has a link to Muslim Hands. Anybody know how genuine a charity they are?

So so narrow. But we know that.

Can you imagine the trash they will be teaching in 'Islamic Studies'?

My imagination is in overdrive contemplating Islamic Arts and Crafts.
I keep thinking of one of the programmes in that spoof TalibanTV that did the rounds a few years ago which I kept:-
8.30 Morning prayers.Followed by Talitubbies.
Talitubbies say "Ah-ah". Dipsy and Tinky-Winky repair a Stinger missilelauncher

Yes, but if it wants to get state funding it will have to be ofsted inspected and follow the National Curriculum, so it's probably better for the children that it does.

(I'm not a fan of Muslim schools or Muslim anything, but bringing Muslims into the maistream is probably the best solution here.)

Muslims have to have a 'halal' version of everything. Everything must be sanctified by the touch of Islam. Arts and crafts, simple things like drawing, for goodness sake, have to be given an Islamic taint, before they have any value or allowed existence.

My Indian friend tells me of how in recent years things have changed in even previously secular Asian arts organisations. Before, Asian arts festivals would be secular and for everyone. Not any more. Recently there was an 'Asian' arts conference held in the north of England that was obsessed with Islam and Islamic identity and questions of 'opposing American imperialism' and all the rest of that jive. So now, Hindus and Sikhs are marginalised in their own back yard, all by this Islamic hysteria and Muslim obsession, everything secular gets communalised.

Can you imagine a Jewish school teaching 'Jewish Art'? Or a Catholid school teaching 'Christian Art'? This is why a Jewish or Hindu school is not separatist, it teaches its pupils about the whole of society and opens up their minds, doesnt preach exclusivity even in the production of art. What kind of mind can indoctrination in an educational ethos which even marks art as being divided between believer and infidel produce? Stunted, half-witted, fanatical minds.
