The only place muslims are oppressed is in muslim countries. The Palestians (that don't exist) were Jordanians that were overthrown and kicked out. Lebanon and Syria will not give them rights and keep them in refugee camps. Israel has given them rights and they can vote.

If you look at any political or religious group that said they were on the scene for good, but looked at their actions you would know the differance. I presented the submisions this morning and they were received very well I think. Green MP kept harping how my recommendations were inconsistent with the New Zealand Bill of Rights Act, but I quickly informed him that under section 5, rights and freedoms are subject to the "reasonable limitations of a democratic society". They were well received by Labour, National and even United Future's Peter Dunne. They have asked for further submissions as well.

While I have recommended that specific provisions be strengthened to "close the gaps", governments including Australia and teh US and NZ, will never win this fight unless they take a close look at Islam and its tenets. Keith Locke the Green Party MP today harped on about the desire of Hamas and Hizbollah to form democratic institutions. That shows the you ignorance of our public officials.

Australia and New Zealand's laws are a bit different. We have a bill of rights (albeit incorporated into an ordinary statute meaning a court is incapable of enforcing its provisions) when read with our anti-terror legislation strikes a fair balance, in my view between domestic human rights and national security. But we all could be doing better. Australia has one of teh most ropbust frameworks. The fact that australia places organisations on its list that are not on teh UN list provides good evidence of its committment. New Zealand has failed to consider Hamas or Hizballah terrorist organisations.

I think having a bill of rights is important, but the UK and NZ have got it right in making it ordinary instead of supreme law, unlike the US. Nothing legally prevents parliament from passing legislation inconsistent with the rights and freedoms, that is the beauty of it. NZ and the UK cannot be shackled by judicial activism in this regard.

A bill of rights in Aussie would be good in theory I suppose, particularly along the lines of NZ though. Keep in mind that in the United States a judge can overturn legislation that is inconsistent with the Bill of Rights. In NZ or in the UK however, a court can only make a declaration that has no effect whatsoever. We should always try to balance human rights with national security, but with terrorism legislation it is never easy, eh?

This horror is the satanic demonic religion of Islam. This horror is standard operating proceedure in Shaira Islamic law states.
Islamic Sharia law is strongly supported by the affluent few. It persecutes the poorest and most vulnerable among those living under the tyranny and terror of Sharia Law. In most countries with Sharia Law the Jews and Christians have been killed or left long ago. The poor are the ones to be flogged, amputated, crucified now days. The vast majority of the people who live under Sharia Law are people deemed "dispensable," and to whom human rights do NOT exist. The vast majority of people living under the teror and tyrany of Sharia Law have no basic human rights. The people are subjected to the Sharia atrocities. The masses under Sharia Law have NO CHOICE or chance to a secular trial, where they could be imprisoned, instead of having hands of feet amputated. Reality in countries under Sharia Islamic law will see poor men and women being caught and accused of drinking and contemplating fornication or adultery, by terror police officers, who are the most insatiable drunkards and adulterers on earth by any standard. Reality in Sharia Islamic law states sees poor men sentenced to flogging in the morning by judges who are suffering from hangover after drinking too much the night before. Reality in Sharia Islamic law states sees the state bureaucracy controlled by kleptomaniacs who own houses, cars, farms and bank accounts with net worth that exceeds one's income of five hundred years. Reality sees these Sharia law officials sentence hungry, poor, malnourished men to amputation for stealing what would barely ensure survival until the next meal. This hypocritical farce of Islamic Sharia is the reality.
The Gulf Kingdoms are among the most rigorously Islamic states. The truth regarding these Sharia Islamic kingdoms is that the rich and powerful men who control these states, import the finest whisky, and help themselves to the classiest prostitution networks in the world. Yet, if women ask to be allowed to drive, Islamic Sharia law quickly, and in characteristic hypocritical Muslim fashion, charges them with immoral Westernization. This is a serious charge under Sharia law. Is there any defense, NO, not for women under Sharia Law.
The Mullahs in Afghanistan viewed drug-trafficking not only as Islamic, but as a form of Jihad against the enemies of Islam in the West. In typical Muslim hypocritical form, they deemed women's education, women's employment, and women's independence highly un-Islamic. It will never dawn upon the hypocritical Muslim mind of the Mullahs, to think that the enemies of Islam may be fought best by educating, emancipating, and empowering women. This is not just an accident. The moon god of Islam is a control freak. Controlling women's bodies and minds takes precedence over everything else in the Mullahs' scale of priorities.
One does not have to be a rocket scientist to see that Sharia Islamic law is for CONTROL, and NOT freedom, or justice. The True God Sets Free from bondage. Lucifer, and every false god, is a control freak. This should not only indicated that the god of Islam CAN NOT be the True God or the God of the Christians and Jews. This is a very strong proof that the god of Islam, in fact, is Lucifer's moon god of war. Sharia Islamic law is for controlling men, and especially for controlling and dehumanizing women. The system ensures wealth, corruption, power and control for a few, and tyrany, fear, bondage, ignorance, and poverty for the masses. Racism is central to Islam, and the hypocritical mockery of justice, that is Sharia law. Who are the ones who get flogged, amputated, or crucified. First place in that line is for the Jews. In places where all the Christians and Jews have been killed, or driven out like Sudan, you will find the blackest among the Sudan people are the ones who are flogged, amputated, crucified or beheaded. We need to consider why the most fervent advocates of Islamic Sharia are university graduates. These educated folk have no qualms about buying food from supermarkets that sell beer in the U.S. or Europe. How come these Doctors and University Professors did not choose to immigrate to Afghanistan, or Iran, or Egypt, or Saudi Arabia, in order to avoid such offences against their religious sensibilities?
We should understand such arguments and complaints about offences against their religious sensibilities are diversion tactics. Such obsession with petty grievances are designed to shift the discussion away from where it should be firmly placed. We should NOT ALLOW the discussion to be moved from the FACT that under Islamic Sharia law that the most vulnerable of the people, usually women, and racial minorities, and the poor, are the greatest sufferers under any Islamic laws. Such RESPECT of PESONS is an ABOMINATION to Christians and Jews, and the True God. Any Muslim, no matter how poor, uneducated, and ignorant will NEVER say the god of Islam is the SAME as the God of the Christians and Jews. How come Popes and Presidents can express ignorance of such a fundamental issue about which NO Muslim is so ignorant? Sad. Sad.
Religious laws cannot exist without this respect of persons, racism, and persecution of the poor. This is because anyone with enough power to exempt himself from these laws or remove himself from their reach will do so. The best poetry that praised wine came from Caliphs', the so-called Commanders of the Faithful, while the men in the streets were flogged every day for drinking wine. None of the Caliphs, their drinking buddies, or the elite class has ever been flogged. Where an elite was flogged, it was usually to settle a political, or a personal account, rather than punish his religious transgression.
It should not be any surprise what people like Mullahs do when they get in trouble and loose power and control. As long as they were the ones in control and power, they always preached to Muslims, that they should adhere ONLY to the words of the Quran and Sunna. Yet as we recently saw in Afghanistan, these same Mullahs are so quick to change when they get in trouble. The Mullahs know that if they get in trouble, they can pretend to be in favor of having secular laws, if Islamic laws are allowed to exist. The Mullahs know what the average Muslim does not know. The Mullahs know that the two systems are mutually exclusive. The Mullahs of Afghanistan did not hesitate, to be in favor of two law systems when the US Forces were vitorious over the Mullahs in Afghanistan. The Mullahs know very well that the mere existence of apostasy law in Islamic Sharia areas will block any secular laws. The fact is that when the Mullahs are in trouble, THEN the Mullahs are the ones who want a two sysem form of secular and Islamic law. This FACT should not be allowed to go without being reported. Whenever the fundamentalist Mullahs get in trouble, it will be those same fundamentalists, who will quickly be advising Muslims they should have both a secular and Sharia laws.
If a woman were to go with her hair uncovered in any place where Islamic Sharia exists, she will be punished. If she pleads for the secular law, she will be informed that she has rejected Quran and prophet Muhammed's traditions, known as Sunna. If she insists on asking to be tried in a secular court, then she is an apostate, infidel, and needs to be put to death, end of discussion!!

They want to rant and rave about the dominance and influence of the West. The Muslim hypocrites use the criticism that Western intellectuals have leveled against their own societies. At the same time, that sort of practice CAN NOT BE DONE WITHOUT GREAT PERIL TO LIFE AND LIMB IN MUSLIM COUNTRIES. No way can Muslims criticise the injustices which abound in their own Muslim societies.

Perhaps Muslims should re-examine their ideology and recognise that Islam's militancy also results in "blowback" -- "infidel" rage, militarism, fanaticism, and political extremism. (Hmm... I just wanted to post a general comment on the nature of many of the above posts. Quite a bit involves personal insults and other unintelligible babble. That's fine if it let's people blow off steam in an anonymous manner, but I do ask that you all consider that the problem of dealing with Islam in all of western civilization is a real one. In order preserve our civilization we must confront those who would tear it down. The appropriate forum for that is currently political. So I ask that all of you who share my concern about the growing Islamic menace please be politically active and consider your candidate's stance on Islam. We don't need political leaders in western nations singing the praises of Islam in the media. We need leaders who will confront the Islamic threat rather than invite it to the ranch. Any fair reading of the history of minorities under Islam cannot mistake Islamic rule with pardise on earth. The histories of the Islamic world are an endless litany of oppression, misrule and suffering not only of those living under Islam but Muslims themselves are the first and foremost victims.

Arbitrary punishment, enslavement, lack of property rights and a permanent state of war with every one of its neighbors- this has been true since the dawn of Islam and there is a certainty that, in the event Islam ever did triumph, this would be the permanent state of the world ever after.

Islam claims to "protect" those under its "protection" but the protection is a myth. The protection is nothing but coercive extortion to force conversion. The reality of life under Islam is as it was- Muslims can rob, beat and kill you with an almost certainty of not being punished. Women's rights are non-existent and freedom of expression does not exist.

From the Atlantic Ocean to the Himilayan mountains is an almost unbroken stretch of failure and misery. The moment the US had open immigration from any Arab country, the entire ocuntry would leave in a heartbeat. So the case for Islamic dominance of the world rests on the single pillar of brute force.

The good news is cheap space flight will happen long before Islamic global dominance; if Islam somehow ever wins, I am on the first rocket to someplace other than "paradise."

I think that this is an important point. Unless concern is followed by political action, this discussion is a wasted effort.

It is important to change the discussion among elected office-holders. My experience in the U.S. has been that shaping policy well before general elections is critical (if difficult and often impossible). Party officials and local, state/provincial officials should be asked to state positions and challenged when they seek office in primaries or party caucuses. Early action is best.

Here in the U.S., it was quite interesting to find how heavily courted American muslims were during the Democratic Party primaries. American Muslim organizations have also been active, since the national elections, in forming alliances with "Left-wing" organizations advocating an end to war in Iraq and amnesty for (mostly Mexican) illegal aliens.

So, the tentacles of the Muslim groups are spreading into the political landscape. Muslim claims of harassment and discrimination are being accepted by others (esp. activists) who are key players in Democratic Party politics.

On the political Right, Grover Norquist has apparently "gone Muslim". He has many connections to conservative advocacy groups and Republican office holders. But, the problem is not isolated to Norquist. MANY status quo Republican conservatives (real or imagined) propagate the myth of peaceful muslims and the lie that "peace is at the center of Islam".

I learned early on (college) in the late 70's of the way that Muslim men treat women and their views on our culture and peoples. It's amazing this continues to the point where our own government has made us '2nd class' citizens to Muslims-people have to wake up !

Well, duh! Of course Muslims want to run the world. Their actions have spoken for them for more than one thousand years.

It is understood by thinking people that they will relentless push forward a triumphalist agenda, withdraw in a temporary hudna, and then begin the onslaught anew. I've never posted on this site before, but I am an avid reader. I completely agree that Islam has many fundamental flaws, and that it is unacceptable for a religion to attempt to force itself into politics in the way that Islam's "Way of Life" beliefs do. However, I am concerned about the apparent degredation in the quality of posts that have appeared here lately.

Unfortunately, it would seem that irony was the first casualty in the "War on Terror." Many posters will sit here and denigrate Islam for it's theocratic tendencies, while completely ignoring the fact that we have Christians in the US attempting to do the same thing. Where is the outrage here?

Why do we have posters who demean Muhammed as a false prophet with the only evidence being their personal belief that Jesus is the true son of God. There is no more evidence for that than there is for Islam being the one true faith.

Why do we have posters who proclaim outrage at the fact that muslims wish to impose Islam on the entire world, when this is the same stated goal of many conservative Christians and Jews (to convert the world to their respective religions). In my experience, my Christian friends proselytize far more than my friends of other religions. And it is no less annoying coming from them, I assure you.

Why do we have posters who state that we "should not engage in any intellectual or rhetorical debates with them." Then what is the purpose of this site? If we don't allow dissident voices to be heard, how is this a forum? Isn't the purpose to openly discuss the current situation so that we may come to our own conclusions? What good is preaching to the chior - no changes result from it! Not to mention that the basis of free speech is the ability to freely say something - on any street, on any website.

Why do we have posters here who state that "evloution can not be observed," despite the fact that it is observable in anti-bacterial resistant strains, in the allele changes in fruit flies, and in inumerable other examples, and then go on to ridicule as backwards a group of religious people who share many of the same views as fundamental Christians? If you take quotes from Pat Robertson and replace the words "Christian" with "Islam" and vice versa, I believe you'll find his statements to be no different than many of the imans - especially in regards to gays, women, and other religions. Why is it such a stretch to apply our notions of one faith to challenge our own beliefs? Why is it so hard to comprehend that maybe, just maybe, all religions are inherently faulty since they required men to create the rules? Without these so-called "religions," this debate would be null and void in the first place!

All I'm trying to say is that most of the people here live in glass houses. We seem unable to comprehend that these maniacs who kill in the name of Allah were not created in a vaccuum. America allowed these countries to support them for years because all we wanted was oil. We supported corrupt regimes, and the people from these regimes will not forget this. Before I get the usual "he's a liberal who blames America" response - I'm not an apologist, and I'm not even a "liberal". I believe America has every right to strive to be the most powerful and dominant country on earth, just as any other country in our position would do. And we most certainly have the right to invade a country that has attacked us first. In the case of Iraq, I suspect we'll just have to agree to disagree, as the pretext of war was a sham from the beginning in my opinion - but you are absolutely entitled to yours. If you check out DoD documents form the early 90's, it becomes apparent that the invasion was just an extension of the belief that by controlling natural resources, we can continue remain a superpower. Of course, this strategy did not take into account the extensive nationalism that exists in many cultures. Still, don't believe the French - they are just envious of our role in the world. But at the same time, we can't expect our actions to have no consequences.

So when we start posting things about castrating terrorists with no anesthesia, please try to remember that this is the sort of barbaric act that could also be defended in the name of Islam. Let's just try to keep this civil, because if we let hatred consume us, we are no better than the jihadists in the first place.
