This trial is going to be extremely interesting. It's astonishing, really, if the prosecution's claims are true, that Al-Arian was able to operate so easily and for so long in America. How many others like him are still at large? "Prosecutor: Al-Arian Key to 'Terror Cycle,'" from AP, with thanks to Jeffrey Imm:
TAMPA, Fla. — Sami Al-Arian emerged as a key figure in a "terror cycle" perpetrated by the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, whose members targeted Israelis in deadly bombings and bragged about them to raise money for more attacks, a prosecutor said Monday on the opening day of the fired college professor's trial. In fact, Al-Arian, a University of South Florida computer science instructor, was at one time "the most powerful man in the world in the organization" blamed for more than 100 deaths in Israel, the West Bank and Gaza Strip, federal prosecutor Walter E. Furr III told jurors in his opening statement....
Prosecutors allege the men used an Islamic academic think tank and a Palestinian charity founded by Al-Arian in Tampa as fundraising fronts for the PIJ, which is on a State Department list of terrorist organizations. Furr described them as "an armed, criminal group of violent thugs" opposed to the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories and committed to disrupting the peace process.
"Furr described them as "an armed, criminal group of violent thugs" opposed to the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories and committed to disrupting the peace process."
-So, in other words, they're moslems. Prosecute them for folowing islam, and, when islam is found guilty as charged, sentence them to death for following the teachings of muhammed, dung be upon him.
Then we'd have some legal precedence to go on in our efforts to criminalize islam and win the war on jihad.
Yeah, the St. Pete Times here is chock full of bs. about poor, oppressed Dr. Death. And the Tampa Tribune, the "right-wing" paper across the bay is following suite. One of them, I can't remember which, had an Letter to The Editor printed today urging people to join a protest outside the courthouse, organized by three goddamned preachers, no less.

Kenya's Terror Conspiracy Trial Ends
NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) -- A judge began deliberating Friday on the fate of three Kenyans accused of conspiracy to bomb an Israeli-owned hotel and of attempts to shoot down an Israeli airliner north of the Indian Ocean port of Mombasa.
Prosecutors have pressed for the maximum penalty of three years in jail, but defense lawyers say the accused should be found innocent because authorities failed to prove they were involved in planning the attacks.
As the trial ended Friday, Nairobi Chief Magistrate Aggrey Muchelule said he will deliver judgment on June 21.
The suspects - Kubwa Mohammed Seif, Said Saggar Ahmed and Salmin Mohammed Khamis - are charged with conspiracy related to the November 2002 car bomb attack that killed 15 people, including three Israeli tourists.
SO THIS TELLS US MULSUMS KILL 15 PEOPLE AND WILL ONLY GET 3 YRS IN PRISON

U.N. Sanctions Islamic Jihad Group
UNITED NATIONS (AP) -- The United Nations has imposed sanctions on the Islamic Jihad Group, an organization active in Central Asia that the U.S. government has blamed for bombings last year against the U.S. and Israeli embassies.
The U.N. Security Council committee in charge of anti-terrorism sanctions against al-Qaida and remnants of Afghanistan's former Taliban rulers added the group to its sanctions list on June 1, saying it was linked to the al-Qaida terror network, according to an announcement late Friday.

As many as 127 people were also injured when the suicide attackers detonated bombs at the Shiite mosques on May 7 and May 31, 2004.
Pakistan has a history of sectarian violence, mostly blamed on rival majority Sunni and minority Shiite extremist groups. About 80 percent of Pakistan's 150 million people are Sunnis and 17 percent are Shiites.
The schism between Sunnis and Shiites dates back to the 7th century and involves a dispute over who was the true heir to the prophet Muhammad.

Pakistan: Musharraf Mistaken About Arrests
ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (AP) -- An army spokesman Thursday said Pakistan has arrested 700 - and not 7,000 - al-Qaida suspects, clarifying remarks made by President Gen. Pervez Musharraf.
In remarks Tuesday to CNN, Musharraf said, "We apprehended about 7,000 al-Qaida members" with links to groups in various countries - a claim that caused some consternation in Pakistan.
On Thursday, army spokesman Maj. Gen. Shaukat Sultan said that Musharraf - a key ally in the U.S.-led war on terrorism - had spoken "inadvertently" and really meant 700.

Iran Demands Pakistan Head Explain Remarks
By ALI AKBAR DAREINI
ASSOCIATED PRESS WRITER
TEHRAN, Iran (AP) -- Iran demanded an explanation Sunday from Pakistan over a purported comment by President Pervez Musharraf that Tehran was "very anxious" to develop nuclear weapons.
In an interview with Germany's Der Spiegel news weekly published Saturday, Musharraf was asked how Iran could be dissuaded from trying to make a nuclear weapon.
HMMM??
Asefi insisted that Iran was not seeking atomic weapons and said it was not Pakistan's business to make such comments.
Musharraf's reported comments are of particular interest because of involvement by the father of Pakistan's atomic bomb, Abdul Qadeer Khan, in providing Iran with centrifuges, a device used to enrich uranhium -uranium if enriched enough can be used to make a nuclear weapon.
The German news weekly also quoted Musharraf as saying a pre-emptive attack by the United States against Iran would be "a disaster."

Iran Tests Solid Fuel Motor for Missile
By ALI AKBAR DAREINI
ASSOCIATED PRESS WRITER
TEHRAN, Iran (AP) -- Iran has successfully tested a solid fuel motor for its medium-range Shahab-3 ballistic missile, a technological breakthrough in Iran's military industries, the defense minister said Tuesday.
Minister Ali Shamkhani did not say when Iran tested the motor, one of two engines he said were developed for the Shahab-3, a weapon capable of carrying a nuclear warhead and reaching Israel and U.S. forces in the Middle East.
"A missile using liquid fuel is short-lived. You can use it for a limited time. Solid fuel makes the missile durable and dramatically increases its accuracy (in reaching targets)," Shamkhani said on state-run television.
So far, Shahab-3 has reportedly been based on liquid-fuel technology.

OT - Death Threats made against Denis Greslin, president of Occidentalis Association in France
"WE WILL HAVE YOUR SKIN GRESLIN YOUR THROAT WILL BE CUT LIKE THE COCKROACHES OF YOUR SPECIES DIE MOTHERF*******" sic
"You will all die bunch of sluts, you don't like arabs? We will get you and f*** your women we know who you are" sic
"You also you stink of death and you will die like that bitch van gog, we have are eye on yoo fascists we will beat you and your family bunch of motherf****
Allah will punish you for your acts" sic
Denis Greslin runs a web site http://www.occidentalis.com which regularly publishes information in French relating to dhimmitude by politicians and jihadism in the Mosques and suburbs of France. So called anti-racist organisations such as MRAP and the LDH (League des Droits de l'Homme) as well as UOIF, an islamic association with links to the Muslim Brotherhood, are regularly reported on and found to be more interested in advancing the cause of Islam than dealing with actual cases of racism.
He has now received death threats with the usual suspect spelling and grammar. These threats, made from a fixed IP address, have been passed on to the police. It now remains to be seen if the police will be as vigilant in tracking down the author of these threats are as they were in arresting Mr Greslin in June 1993,and placing him in a cell without charge for 48 hours, for having defended his ideas on the internet. During this time, his name, address and place of work were widely distributed on islamic forums on the web.
The site was broadly supportive of Philippe de Villier's efforts to vote down the european constitution in the recent referendum, in order to put the brakes on Turkey's hopes of admission to the EU club.
There is nothing remotely racist in the web site's content, whose primary goal is to prevent Europe becoming part of Dar al Islam.
