From Reuters:
DUBAI - The Arab TV channel Al Jazeera rejected on Saturday as unfounded Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld's accusations that it was encouraging Islamic militant groups by airing beheadings of foreign hostages in Iraq."Al Jazeera ... has never at any time transmitted pictures of killings or beheadings and ... any talk about this is absolutely unfounded," the television said in a statement.
Al Jazeera, repeatedly accused by Washington of biased reporting on Iraq, has often shown video of hostages pleading at gunpoint for their government to withdraw its troops. But it does not broadcast footage of killings, posted on the Internet by militants.
The channel voiced "deep regret and surprise" over Rumsfeld's remarks.
Rumsfeld earlier said: "If anyone lived in the Middle East and watched a network like the Al Jazeera day after day after day, even if he was an American, he would start waking up and asking what's wrong. But America is not wrong.
"It's the people who are going on television chopping off people's heads, that is wrong," he told a security conference in Singapore.
"And television networks that carry it and promote it and jump on the spark every time there is a terrorist act are promoting the acts," he said.
Give 'em h*** Rummy!
Al Jazeera's offices in Baghdad and in the Afghan capital, Kabul, have been hit by U.S. fire but Washington said the bombings were accidental and had not targeted the network...
oops...
More than 150 foreigners have been kidnapped in Iraq in the past year. Some have been released, but about one third have been killed.
AOL poll on the Koran "torture"
What do you think of the way the U.S. has handled Guantanamo prisoners?
I have no problems with it 61%
I think it's an outrage 24%
I have some doubts about it 15%
Total Votes: 80,287
Note on Poll Results
On the Poll.... the 24% are correct.... Why are those Killers still alive?
Hey.... it depends on how the question is asked, you know!!!
61% Approve of the Military... They are smart. In the next year, we can expect to hear more stories of newspapers and T.V. outlets closing for lack of readers and viewers.
We should also Expect to see a few dead, lying liberals..... On second thought, Nah! I guess not.
Decent Americans are just not willing to associate with the media slime.
I have little faith in polls. Especially those conducted over the telephone. I have been polled once by phone...ABC...something about bill Clinton. What dawned on me immediatly was that the interviewer did not want complete answers. Then I got suspicious that he may not be writing down what I was telling him. He could be writing anything or nothing. There is no way to know. Then he structured the whole thing in the way he asked the questions, as Leadog2 observes. So what you have is a poll with no quality control at it's best, and a fraud at it's worst. Either way I have no use for them...

Not according to the Koran! If Rumi would read it or talk with RS or Hugh perhaps he's understanding would deepen...

That sums up how I feel about this issue!
The only answer to the Gitmo detainee problem is to use one of their own terrorist tricks:
Korans with enough semtex packed inside their hollowed out covers to get rid of the book and the reader in one instant, as soon as they opened it, and tripped the trigger.
And then hose out the cells.
Turnabout is fair play.
What goes around Qu'ran's around.
Well, ain't that just mighty big of them.

Does anyone know that of those released, what ratio it was of Muslims to non muslims? Same goes for the "killed" bit - what ratio were they of non muslims to muslims.
