Yes, of course he is a Methodist....From The Telegraph, with thanks to Daryl:
A Briton who described himself as a wandering pilot has been detained by Mexican authorities and could be linked to the September 11 terrorist attacks in New York, officials have said.Amer Haykel, 45, identified as a British citizen of Lebanese descent, was arrested on Monday at the volunteer fire station of Todos Santos, on the Pacific coast about 35 miles north-west of Cabo San Lucas.
Mexico's federal attorney general's office said US authorities linked Haykel "to extremist groups believed to be involved with September 11 attacks in New York". It did not say if he faced any charges or if he was believed to be involved in any terrorist actions. Haykel told acquaintances that he was a pilot wandering the world. He seemed like "a straightforward person", said Gabriel Garcia, of the Cabo San Lucas fire station.
A "wandering pilot"?
Is that like a free-floating tumor?
I sure hope they let this guy out of jail immediately, just for brazen creativity.
To re-join that mystical band of wandering pilots who roam the Earth, like the albatross'd seaman in the Rime of the Ancient Mariner, or that even earlier manifestation, the Wandering Jew.
I think there was one of his Wrong-Way Corrigan brethren giving flying lessons over Washington, D.C. a month ago.
How can I join the Wandering Pilots?
Is there a secret handshake?
(Maybe you spread your pinkie and thumb out from the other fingers and 'fly' your hand -with an onomatopoeia whrrrrr! -into the outstretched hand of the other wanderer?)
Hmmmm, he sounds more like a Baptist to me, or maybe he's an Anglican. Yes, he's an Anglican who has divested himself from Israel, which, as every Godly Anglican knows, is an apartheid state. Definitely an Anglican. Or a Gay Episcopalian. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Who am I to judge? Really.
BigSleep,
What a clever comment you've written! LOL.
Free-floating tumors? Yes, that's a good metaphor for the Islamists floating all over the place while the pc keep screaming "Cultural diversity!"
Let see, in one day the Washington Post carried two Muslim-culture stories--one about the camels on the Mall (Folklife Festival) and one about the hookah bars in Georgetown. Do I feel a satiric blog coming on? I wonder if a blog article entitled "Camels on the Mall and Hookahs" in Georgetown will offend some Muslims.
On the serious side, these wandering pilots might turn out to be much more than a nuisance. I seem to remember a teenage jihadist, U.S. born, flying a private plane into the Bank of America building. The only one who died was himself, and in the plane the investigators found Bin Laden material.
Some wandering pilots may well turn out to be lone jihadists.
Al-Jazeera is focusing on the American southern border around July 4th in a report that will explain to the Muslim world, as if they don't know already, how easy it is to come across the border. Expect to hear of more non-Mexicans that are actually Arabic-speaking "entrants" to be encountered crossing the border.
The Mexican Govt. released him. They didn't see any reason to detain him after questioning. Just goes to show how much we can trust the Mexican govt. and Vicente Fox! They've been trying to flood our country with their citizens, and now it looks like middle eastern jihadi's as well. Fox is trying to stand up to Bush, if you don't allow Mexicans to cross over freely, we won't help you catch terrorists. I'm rooting for Fox's opponent in the next election.
