What's that? Hamas isn't a right-wing Christian group? It's a Muslim group? Oh, well, then, they are reacting to illegal occupation and oppression. Give them a state! What's that? They celebrate the murder of innocents on buses and in restaurants? What are you, some kind of Islamophobe? "Hamas leader urges more violence," from UPI, with thanks to Jeffrey Imm:
A Hamas leader has urged supporters to redouble efforts to "liberate" Palestine because diplomacy has failed, an Israeli newspaper's Web site, Ynet, says."All of Palestine, from the river to the sea, will be liberated by the mujahedin (martyrs) and their rifles, not by pointless diplomatic meetings," the leader, Nizar Rian, said Thursday in Gaza.
Ynet, the online site of Tel Aviv daily Yediot Aharonot, said Hamas has warned that the temporary calm is falling apart, and the Islamic Jihad and Fatah's al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades have echoed the statement. Hamas and the Islamic Jihad have been involved in recent attacks on Israel, and the al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades reportedly dispatched the female suicide bomber who was caught, ostensibly on her way to an Israeli hospital for treatment.
"Give them a state!"
-- from the comment above
But Robert, there is a "solution" to the Jiahd against Israel. It is the "Two-State Solution." It must be a "solution" because otherwise, they would not have called it a Two-State Solution, now would they? Our leaders aren't fools. They know what they're doing. They know all about what Edmond Fagnan and A. S. Tritton and Antoine Fattal wrote. They know exactly where, and how, Bernard Lewis misstates or misapprehends the permanence, and nature, of Jihad.
They knew way back in 1973 that Saudi Arabia was not our "friend" and would simply use OPEC oil revenues, in order to fund mosques and madrasas everywhere.
And that's why they promptly put a tax on gasoline, that went up incrementally, to insure that the price would never go down, and that's how they managed to recapture oligopolistic rents, by taxing gasoline at the pump, and oil imports generally, in such a smooth, steady, constantly upward fashion, that we managed to keep a few trillion dollars, over the past 30 years, from going to OPEC -- we taxed it, and kept it, and used it to completely fund Social Security, and give everyone in the country a free four-year college education, and had enough left over to pay for nuclear power plants, and solar energy projects everywhere (employing millions of people, by the way), and wind energy projects. All because we could not be fooled, and understood the permanent danger of Islam, the permanent malevolence of Saudi Arabia.
And that's not all. Remember those negotiatons over the Camp David Accords (not a "treaty" for some reason, but "accords"). And remember how foolishly Begin wanted to give away the store, and hand back the entire Sinai, land which only became part of Egypt in 1922? And remember how cleverly Carter and Brzezinski prevented him from doing so, and realizing that the Americans could use permannet bases somewhere in the midst of the MIddle East, made the case to Sadat, and said that the Sinai should by mutual agreement be handed over in perpetuity to the American government, which would pay Israel for the three airbases and all the infrastructure, and give to Egypt a billion or so a year as long as it refrained from anti-American and antisemitic propaganda in its press and television? Carter and Brzezinski -- they're no fools. They knew we couldn't rely on keeping any bases in the Muslim countries, given our experience in Morocco, and then in Libya, and with CENTO, and everything else. So that's why we've got those big bases far from any population centers in the Sinai today, and why our military position is impregnable. Thank god we didn't rely on those Saudis, or start building bases in some cockamami scheme in some even crazier scheme, some place like Iraq.
No, no. Our leaders are the cleverest leaders in the world. They have Islam's number. That's why the Saudis are scrambling for money, and can't spend a sent exporting their brand of Islam. And we have those solid bases in Sinai. And all that money that would otherwise have gone to OPEC, that we managed through clever taxation to keep for ourselves, and build the fantastic energy projects that we needed. And not a moment too soon, for other reasons (isn't it getting just a little hot these days?).
Two-State Solution it is, Robert. Va-va-voom. Ours not to reason why.
And our governemnt knows best.
I have a two state solution. Make Israel a whole nation, all of Eretz Israel for the Jews, and make France Palestine.

*LOL!*
Hey Robert, you inspired by Iowahawk or what??
Truly, sometimes there's nothing like sarcasm or black humour to show how ridiculous thiings have become.
For some reason I can hear the song "June is busting out all over" . Hamas must feel that they have recruited and incouraged enough suicide bombers for their next attacks thanks to the so-called hudna. Yep that two state solution would solve their problem--East Palestine, and West Palestine.
Hey...guess what? It is Islamic Terrorism Groundhog Day. Actually it is Islamic terrorism Groundhog day 365 days a year.
If you think that the smiling Mormons offering to mow your lawn for free are really the ones preparing for a global totalitarian takeover then "Islamic Terrorism Groundhog day" is a date that is easy to forget.
Yeah..that's right. You Mormons mow that bit in the corner. I know what you are up to.
AHHHHAAHHHHGGG!! I just went to post a long, satirical commentary and got timed out! "Poof", it's gone. I'm so pissed that I didn't save it...

Hi there
Apologies for posting an off topic question here.
I am invitation your views on ABORTION in order to present a case to help those in the developing world.
I personally see abortion as a NECESSARY EVIL and that unwanted pregnancy is not only a personal problem and it is also a very real problem for the society at large.
Do you think it is right to burden say a 15 years old school-going girl with a new life when she is yet to have any economic mean to sustain herself and obviously, most girls of her age are not mentally ready for a family life. Furthermore, is it fair to rob her of her career, aspiration, dream etc., in the name of preserving a life that is yet to be fully developed?
If you have an opinion, please email it to me at divinetalk@gmail.com or if you wish, you may post your comment here: Your Onion Counts!
Also, what do you think of the recent “Pharmacists Refused Contraceptive Prescriptions”.
Do you think Pharmacists have the rights to Play God?

"Column One: Irrelevant visions"

"The reason for Rice's insistent support for Abbas is clear. The US, in committing itself to President George W. Bush's "vision" of the establishment of a Palestinian state in Judea, Samaria and Gaza and perhaps Jerusalem, has mortgaged its entire Middle East policy to a "solution" of the Palestinian conflict with Israel that has no relation whatsoever to the realities on the ground. The reality on the ground is that Palestinian society is unified by a dedication to the destruction of Israel, not the establishment of a Palestinian state. Abbas is a reflection of his society.
In backing Abbas, the US is not shoring up a weak leader who wants a different future for the Palestinians. The US is backing one Palestinian terrorist organization – Fatah – against Hamas and Islamic Jihad. Yet since Fatah coexists harmoniously with Hamas and Islamic Jihad, by backing Fatah, the US is effectively backing all Palestinian terror groups."
So much for that Whitehouse rhetoric we have been hearing since 2002?
