More empty threats? Probably. The problem is that years can go by that are utterly filled with empty threats, and then the jihadists can strike again. Remember the interval between the 1993 WTC attack and the one in 2001. From the Stamford Advocate, with thanks to A Friend:
The FBI has alerted police about vague, unverified reports of a possible plan to attack power plants and electric grids around New York City this month, according to a confidential FBI memo. The memo, written by the FBI and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and read by The Advocate, warns of a written threat from a single source that New York-area power plants will be attacked this month.
The memo stresses that federal authorities have not corroborated the threat. The memo includes a composite sketch of a Middle Eastern man who may be trying to enter the United States this month to participate in the attack....
The police officers said the department receives regular warnings from federal authorities. But this memo is unusual because it names a person and includes a sketch, they said.
Bull said sketches are becoming more common in FBI memos to police.
The memo does not say how a power plant would be attacked. The written threat mentions the possibility of "great news in June," according to the memo.
Police and power company officials have paid more attention to electric power plants since August 2003, when a malfunction at Midwestern power grids caused a blackout across eight states, including Connecticut, and much of Canada.
Al-Qaeda, if my memory serves me well, claimed credit for that, too.
Ten more days left in June, right? At least by the Western calendar. The jihadist lunatics use the lunar calendar.
This is a true war we are in. Like most major wars, attacking the economic base of your enemy is a major part of the offensive strategy.
It is quite logical that our enemy would want to cause us economic harm. America's ability to fight a major war depends on our economy. Messing up the power grid is an obvious tactic, as is blowing up oil refineries, water transportation systems & dams, etc. Once our enemy decides to fight a little more rationally instead of "for shock effect", this war becomes more difficult to deal with.
On this note, a few well placed devices in locations is Saudi Arabia could bring that country to its knees, financially speaking. It would also hurt worldwide oil markets, possibly causing a recession. After SA was reduced to chaos, it would be ripe for a fundamentalist revolution. Food for thought!
You did mean as security guards?
If you want to find what the terrorists are doing, then monitor the mosques & universities.
The terrorists and/or their support networks will be in either/both of these.
If you want to be "surprised", then don't bother looking in the obvious places.
The only place where EVERYTHING is secure is in a prison. Or in a total police state.
Freedom has risks which we accept, knowing that the ONLY answer to these threats is:
-if they hit us, WE SMASH THEM.
And spread the word now to the governments currently aiding the terrorists:
-if your proxies attack us, YOU DIE.
(It will be a 'dis-incentive' for the Saudis, Iranians, Pakistanis, North Korean, etc. since Death puts a damper on enjoying your petro-wealth.)
Congress is spinning its wheels, attacking the prison at Guantanamo, blunting the power of the Patriot Act, whining and complaining while we fiddle away the time doing studies, ordering equipment, and so on. They don't seem to think we are in a real war in which millions of Americans could die.

Yes, freedom has risks, and it has to be defended by force. In my view, if freedom is so important that it justifies killing those who would take it away (and the innocents who inevitably get in the way), and asking soldiers to die in its defence, it is worth taking risks for. However,

It would be unwise to make threats that we cannot carry out.

It would be better - to show those who care about serving God and Eternal life - should consider how the Koran forgot to mention the name Palestine. It mentions the name Israel - but NOT the name Palestine.
Murder is serious business
God created EVERYTHING - even the 'infidels'
He also laid aside a Day for Judgment - His.
Only Satan would send hoards out to carry out vicious murder - acting as though they are Gods themselves - passing judgment - BEFORE THE JUDGMENT TIME!
