The terror attacks that occurred in Kuwait this year have intensified the public debate in the country on the extremist nature of the school curricula and on the need for curricular reform. Kuwaiti educators and intellectuals claim that Kuwait's curricula include extremist messages encouraging terrorism, and that members of the Muslim Brotherhood movement who emigrated from Egypt to Kuwait played a central role in devising the country's Islamic education curricula.Other educators, who occupy positions in the Kuwaiti Education Ministry, argued that blaming the Kuwaiti curricula for extremism and terrorism is not only false but is part of an overall attack on Islam.
At the center of this debate is the question whether the subject of Jihad should be part of the state Islamic education curricula, and the extent to which teaching it contributes to extremist ideology.
The Kuwaiti government has not taken a clear stand on the matter. While Kuwaiti Education Minister Dr. Rashid Al-Hamad has stated many times that the school curricula include no message of extremism, Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sabah Al-Ahmad and the Kuwaiti cabinet have called for reexamining the curricula, acknowledging that they do include extremist content that they consider contradictory to the nature of the Kuwaiti state. The following report reviews the public debate currently underway in Kuwait.
Example:
Al-Zalzala's findings showed that "11 of the Islamic education textbooks preach in some places to takfir and extremism" and that in certain materials there is "takfir to some individuals," and that "a large segment of Muslims is presented as polytheist." He says, "Because there are jurisprudent schools of thought that differ in their interpretations, Education Ministry officials must reexamine some of the curricula."Al-Zalzala presented several examples of the extremist messages found the textbooks: "The Koran study material for the 11th grade includes great confusion regarding the term 'infidels.' Anyone reading it is likely to think that most of the people in the world are infidels. Similarly, Booklet No. 74 of the text Studies in Islamic Law for High School calls for a one-ruler [system] and one caliph now. Kuwait is but one of many Islamic states- and there is not one but many Islamic states, [but] the book nevertheless calls for the establishment of a single caliphate and a single Islamic state and demands that every Muslim bear arms [in order to achieve this goal]. On page 63 the book says: 'This weakness will not exist on the day when all the Muslims are in a single country under a single ruler'. Then it quotes the Koran, praising 'a group from my nation [which] is still fighting for the truth, until Judgment Day' - that is, all the Muslims are required to fight for the establishment of a single Islamic state."
Here we see two types of muslim:
One with a gun, and another with the power to pass policy.

East Boston street gang linked to Al-Qaeda

MS-13, which stands for La Mara Salvatrucha, is an extremely violent organization with roots in El Salvador, and boasts more than 100 ``hardcore members'' in East Boston who are suspected of brutal machete attacks, rapes and home invasions. There are hundreds more MS-13 gangsters in towns along the North Shore, said Boston police Sgt. Detective Joseph Fiandaca, who has investigated the gang since it began tagging buildings in Maverick Square in 1995.

Romanian court issues warrant for Iraqi-American who guided hostage journalists in Iraq

BUCHAREST, Romania - A court in the Romanian capital on Friday issued an arrest warrant on terrorism charges for an Iraqi-American citizen who translated for three Romanian journalists who were held hostage in Iraq for nearly two months.
Prosecutors indicted Mohammed Monaf in absentia, alongside his Syrian-born business partner in Romania, Omar Hayssam, on terrorism charges in a closed-court session. No details on the charges were immediately available.

BUCHAREST - The appeals court in Bucharest on Friday issued a warrant for the arrest on terrorism charges of Mohamed Munaf, the Iraqi guide of three Romanian journalists who were held hostage in Iraq for 55 days.
The court said the warrant would allow the authorities to detain Munaf for 29 days while they investigated him for “terrorism”, and that it had issued a second, similar warrant for Romanian businessman Omar Hayssam.
Munaf and Hayssam are both suspected by Romanian state prosecutors of having colluded with the kidnappers of the journalists, a group calling themselves the Muadh Ibn Jabal Brigade.
The guide was released along with the reporters on Sunday but is still in Iraq, being held for questioning by US forces in Baghdad.

More than 1,000 migratory birds dead from bird flu in China

BEIJING - More than 1,000 migratory birds have been found dead from the H5N1 strain of avian flu in China, far higher than previously acknowledged, Chinese officials said on Friday.
“Up to May 26 a total of over 1,000 birds have been found dead,” Jia Youling, director of the Ministry of Agriculture’s veterinary bureau, said at a press conference.
China had previously admitted only 178 birds died from an outbreak of bird flu at a nature reserve in the western province of Qinghai.
The dead birds include wild geese, gulls and cormorants.
A report sent by the bureau to the World Organization for Animal Health, seen by AFP, said the estimated date of primary infection of the birds was April 15 at Lake Qinghai, the nation’s largest saltwater lake.
The site, an important rendezvous of migratory birds on one of their Asia-Europe routes, is a major tourist attraction.
Tests confirming an outbreak of bird flu were carried out on May 18 with the ministry making the information public three days later, the report showed.

Here is what is initially taught to most muslim children (me too, I used to love hearing it as a youngester).
Adam was the first man to be put onto this earth where we are now.
Allah decided to create Adam and from him a progeny (khalifah) on the earth IN THE future. First Allah created the earth and that took 6 days. He did NOT rest on the seventh day because God is almighty and all-powerful and doesn't become tired. [7.54] Surely your Lord is Allah, Who created the heavens and the earth in six periods of time [days].
Then Allah created Adam from mud/clay and shaped him into the form that we recognize as human. Adam was not created in the image of God. Allah then breathed into him from His own soul and His creation came to life.
Adam was allowed to wander in the garden that was most beautiful but was not heaven itself. In this garden was a tree which Allah had told Adam not to eat from. Allah created a mate for Adam. "He [Allah] it is Who created you from a single being, and of the same (kind) did He make his mate..." [Koran 7.189].
She was called Hawaa (Eve). Allah had asked all the angels and Iblis (Satan who is not an angel) to bow down to Adam because man was Allah's newest and most superior creation. So all the angels bowed except Iblis.
"He [Allah] said: O Iblis! what excuse have you that you are not with those who bowed down?" [Koran 15:32]. Iblis replied that Adam was less superior to him because Adam was created from clay and he, (Iblis) was created from fire because he was a Jinn.
Iblis was headstrong, angry and jealous and refused to change his mind.
Allah was angered by Iblis and ordered him out of heaven! Allah cursed Iblis and promised him hell fire for his arrogance. But, Iblis asked of God to grant him respite (no punishment) until the day of judgment. Allah agreed since Allah is fair because Iblis used to be one of the most loyal and pious of the jinn who worshiped Him. Another reason why Allah granted Iblis respite is that He knew what Iblis was going to say after Allah had granted him this respite.
"He [Iblis] said: My Lord! because Thou hast made life evil for me (he wants to live too), I will certainly make (evil) fair-seeming to them on earth, and I will certainly cause them all to deviate.
Except Thy servants from among them, the devoted ones." [Koran 15.39-40].
So if you hear this story from childhood, (In Islam this story is taken very literally)
i.e. that to stray away is the work of the devil, it is not so surprising that muslilms are forever close to Allah and his teachings in the Koran.
There will be ultimate destruction on JD, but (so it says) salvation too, the end of teachings to mankind as he has not learned from the past and...in this period we are heading towards it, everyday nearing towards it... minute by minute you hear of atrocities one worse than the other.
The servents of Allah (through their deeds) feel that they are are getting salvation so are exempt.
