Nothing like a good curse to go with my morning coffee! And "befiends" is good, even if inadvertent. The writer, of course, is referring to Qur'an 5:51: "O ye who believe! Take not the Jews and the Christians for friends. They are friends one to another. He among you who taketh them for friends is (one) of them. Lo! Allah guideth not wrongdoing folk."
When was the last time you heard Jews or Christians pronouncing curses on Muslims or anyone else? Just wondering.

Folks who've been longtime posters at JW/DW like Rikki and Shiva are strangely absent these days. Where art thou, people?

Just a thought. Don't react, think about it, and set aside beliefs and predispositions.
Islam is the PERFECT social control ideology.
Especially in a world whose population is expanding geometrically, whose natural and finite resources are being depleted at the same rate.
Where the coral reefs, the bottom of the ocean food chain, are dying, where fish stocks are going extinct, where potable water is becoming the liquid gold of the 21st Century (that according to the President of Bechtel, who also buys up the privatized water supplies of Latin America and Africa - a condition set by the World Bank, for credit to these countries), where the worlds forest cover (which recyles carbon dioxide into oxygen) is disappearing, where the rains in these regions turn into lajars and floods because there is no forest to absorb the water, where human activity is altering the earths climate, where human activity is accelerating desertification.
Where infinite economic growth is impossible to maintain, where the world will no longer be able to feed it's 6.5 billion, 12 billion in 10 years, 24 billion in 15 hungry mouths, because the oil reserves have run out or so depleted that oil can't be spared to make pesticides power machinery for food production and distribution.
In the face of this unsavory future, a perfected social control ideology is needed, and there is only one such, which has a 1300 year record of keeping the population in check, in face of poverty and starvation..Islam.
Islam the perfect social control ideology for the world, social, political, cultural and economic and unlike communism which failed, Islam has the most important of all aspect - extemporal sanction by an invisible god - religion, which is the one element missing in Marxism, and a contributing factor to the failure of Marxism.
That is an unsavory future, thankfully at my age I won't have to live in it (I hope) but my grandchildren or great granchildren it seems will.
