it was made clear by a guard that the Muslim detainees were offended by "Christians" touching their Qurans which they saw as blasphemy against Allah and Muhammed.

Beside the major issue of worthless and often disloyal linguists, there is the issue of poor command and control on the part of military intelligence. Many officers are not of the caliper that we need: they do not know the languages, and the do not have the perquisite gumshoe skills and intelligence. Many were old cold war warriors who made it thus far by the seat of their pants. Others were assigned because they took a bit of Arabic and had the right clearance. Nice guys and loyal Americans who made great sacrifices, to be sure, but they just cannot hack it with hardened and deceptive Islamists.

In all the integrations that I witnessed, I did not see an integration that would get anything out of a 10 year old. Integrated Iraqis seemed to have the upper hand for the most part because they are used to extremely harsh measures. In the beginning they would be frightened but it did not take them long to figure us out and know that they will not be touched.

I mean what can you do to a hardened criminal who have seen the inside of a Saddam-era prison and now freelances with insurgents or an Islamic fanatic who is ready to die for Allah?... A Gush darned nothing, especially after the spectacular failure of the Abu Ghraib experiment. I mean the only Arab governments with success against Islamists were Baathist Syria and Iraq, because they had a no hold bar policies. They did not mind driving tanks into mosques, bombing whole towns, mass extermination, collective punishment, the torture, rape, and murder of Islamists and their entire families.

I mean we are fighting with one hand behind our back: we are preventing from bringing our righteous force to bear on the enemy due to PC considerations, we do not have adequate manpower, and we are throwing a whole a lot of Muslim in the keg. So, we can not play clean, we can not play dirty, and we can not play well… What are we supposed to do? Surrender!

These people would be as misinformed or as disingenuous as those who still claim that Islam is the religion of peace. Besides, my loyalty is not for a man, whoever he me be, or for a political party; it is only for the good old USA. I did not say anything about Bush in particular though I think that members of his administrations did a lot of unwise PC policies to the determent of all of us.

I mean Bush already has a bum rap from the left as Hilter-incarnate without doing anything to warrant it, quite the contrary. He should take the ball, run with it, and throw a touchdown. I do understand that roughly half the country is made up of bleeding heart liberals, the media is always on the administration’s back, and that this junction of American history is not brimming with men of the hour, but the administration was not nearly as tough as it should have been with those practicing Islamic deception from within and without, also with the non-Muslim countries who are taking us for suckers, i.e. China and Mexico.

A true patriot should never be apathetic or entirely satisfied with the performance of his/her government. Government should be subservient to the people and not the opposite. Government should keep the interest of its people supreme.
