Gee, has it come to this in Islam? A daughter killed for being too slow in serving up a glass of water. I remember a time when honor killings had to do with important things, like an unauthorized talk with the boy next door. Still, we are contantly told that millions of people are converting to Islam every day to enjoy all inner peace and peace in the world that conversion brings.

I realize that Adolf Shicklegruber Hitler and the Muslims were allies during WW II, so I can only assume that this "Big Thief" is some small potatoes resurgence of that crapulous alliance (AKA 'a deal with the devil'... in this case, an apt appelation for both parties).

What was never understood by the Muslims, is that they, being Semitic in their Arabian roots, were next on Hitler's extermination list, after the pesky Juden were 'sent to Madagascar'. Why they ever dreamed that one bunch of Semites (Muslims) would be allowed to live to pollute the pure Aryan world, while another (the Jews) would be given a one-way ticket to a dirt nap, I can't imagine. (Maybe they thought they could double cross Hitler, themselves, later?)

The current neo-Nazis may be using the Muslims as suckers to further their own aims of global dominion. But, in this case, they are the ones with too few numbers to scare the Imperialistic Islamists, and it is the neo-Hitlerjungen who will end up in ghettoes or mass graves. Once the Restored Caliphate gains control over their homelands.

(That worked real well for the commies... who lost 20 million or so to the Wehrmacht und Luftwaffe... although, like Napoleon, Hitler crashed on the vast steppes of Mother Russia, and lost the War because of his hallucinatory hubris and military malfeasance.)

Meanwhile, those who understand that all humans extend their roots back to a black Mother in East Africa, traceable through our mitochondrial DNA, also grasp that we are all essentially Africans. What, though it seems on topic after all this length, do we do with cultures that condone rape and murder of females, cultures we consider at official levels to be our allies in the "War on Terror?" What do we do at a practical level? Given that there is no legitimacy in a nation under rule of sharia law, there is no legal restraint concerning citizens of other nations within those lands; in short, there's no law that I can see that prevents me from acting in such manner that prevents me from acting according to universal standards of law and maybe even justice in the face of outrage. In this case, Pakistan's, I feel perfectly comfortable arguing for extra-parliamentary opposition in the struggle to overthrow such a state of illegitimacy. I'd be happy to support an opposition dedicated to overthrowing the government by any means necessary. I might even be willing to support a Taliban-style government there that would make conditions so extremely bad that the "politics of confrontation" that Shiva and I have written about so brilliantly in the past would become the only viable option to the status quo.

There's no reasoning with a culture or person who is at base irrational. Sometimes, and under some circumstances, force is justified. A nation-- such as Pakistan-- that condones murdering females for the sake of male privilege is one such case. I can think of another case that I'll pass on for now.

There is no direct proof that Timothy McVeigh was an "Aryan" activist or even a right-wing Christian. All we know is that he had some casual friends who had literature used by Aryan activist types.

From what I read about McVeigh, he seemed pissed that he was forced out of the Army after honorable service in Desert Storm (-a truly 'brilliant' move by the military, cutting back the troop strength under Clinton) which left a cunning, well-trained and nothing-to-do-with-his-life character like McVeigh free-floating in society, resentful against the government that destroyed his potential career.

Then he got involved, after Ruby Ridge and Waco, in an anti-justice department group, hating the FBI/ATF for their (admitted) fiascos in both instances.

Check out Jayna Davis's research on the possible involvement of Iraqi Saddamist agents (allowed to emigrate as 'refugees' to the U.S. after the Gulf War) in Nichols' and McVeigh's planning, explosives skills, etc. One possibly being "Joe Doe Number Two".

Sonofwalker, I’ll think you’ll find that few “nations” condone murdering females. However appalling the discrimination and violence against women in Islamic societies, in most of them, including Pakistan, what this barbarian did was a crime under the law and would be considered to be a crime by most people in Pakistani society. Sadly, but perhaps not surprisingly, Robert chose to edit the article he posted here, though a link to the original AP article is provided. The original article ends with this: “The man was to appear before a judge later Friday”, which suggests that the police have charged the man with a crime. It also says this (which was also edited out in Robert’s reproduction of the article): “Violence against women is common in Pakistan, but such killings are rare.”

Are you suggesting waging war on Pakistan to save Pakistani women and children from their menfolk? This is the kind of politically correct editorializing that is frequently inserted into stories about Islamia by the Western media. (Never mind the fact that chopping hands off for theivery is indeed Islamic law, and that Pashtuns are only one ethnic group of several in Afghanistan.)

Suzan, no, of course you don’t believe these statements… but you believe all the other statements, made by the very same medium and in the very same article to which I was referring! In other words, you select what you want to believe, based, not on “statistics”, as your own example makes evident, but on your personal prejudices.

Amputation for theft is indeed Islamic law. It is also the exception to the rule rather than the rule in the Islamic world, even where some form of Islamic law is operative. It has only been embraced by the most extreme fringe of Islamism, of which the Taliban were indeed an example. You may want to apply some “statistics” to that.
